I firmly believe that the fact that the studios post scripts for screenplay award consideration is a major factor in winning. Paramount has stopped posting screenplays for award consideration which I believe harms their ability to garner the screenwriting award. I’ve had a couple of academy members email me thanking me for the links to the nominated scripts for the convenience of having the script links in one place (small focus group, yes).

The Brothers Bloom a con man movie – screenplay - post author admin

Over on the Movie Scripts page.

The Brothers Bloom – undated, original shooting script by Rian Johnson – hosted by: rcjohnso – in zip/pdf format

The Brothers Bloom are the best con men in the world, swindling millionaires with complex scenarios of lust and intrigue. Now they’ve decided to take on one last job – showing a beautiful and eccentric heiress the time of her life with a romantic adventure that takes them around the world.

Rian writes on on his site of the script, It was originaly called “Penelope,” a name I still prefer, but we had to change the title when another film beat us to it. This is the original shooting script, and bears some differences from the finished film. The most obvious of these are in the final act, although tonally I think the script in general is a bit darker and more melancholy than what came out on the screen.

When you have a moment, do check out Rian’s Website where, among other things, he has a Discussion Forum where, among other things, he discusses his upcoming sci-fi/action movie Looper which stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt. – Don
