This just in from “ScriptChick” and “Beevus”. “Beevus” writes, “…since you can’t see Idiocracy, you can read the script at my fan site Free Idiocracy…”

I never really gave the movie much thought, but after reading the August, 2003 draft of the script, I thought it was brilliant. The plot of the movie is loosely based on a short story by Cyril M. Kornbluth called The Marching Morons. I’m sure the movie, if and when it is available for wider consumption, is going to be much different from the script. As it turns out that the film was released in only a few hundred theatres. Apparently the studio has done nothing to promote the film and won’t release it to a larger audience. Neighter the studio nor Mike Judge have said exactly why. Interestingly enough, thought, there is an amazon.com listing for the dvd, however it isn’t available for purchase. There is an audio review of Idiocracy from NPR called A Paucity of Publicity for ‘Idiocracy’ which sheds a little light on the mystery. - Don
