Miracle at St. Anna script - post author Don

Miracle at St. AnnaThanks to Vern for the heads up on the brilliant script to Spike Lee’s upcoming Miracle at St. Anna by the prolific writer James McBride.

Miracle at St. Anna chronicles the story of four black American soldiers who are members of the all-black 92nd “Buffalo Soldier” Division stationed in Tuscany, Italy during World War II. They experience the tragedy and triumph of the war as they find themselves trapped behind enemy lines and separated from their unit after one of them risks his life to save an Italian boy.

You can catch a first look at blackfilm.com. Also, FirstShowing.net has an excellent write up on the film.

A link to the script and other movie scripts can be found on the Movie Scripts page. – Don

Gods and Monsters script and Panther script - post author Don

Thanks to Vern for the heads up on this fantastic script – Gods and Monsters, the 1998 Oscar Winner for Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published. Note: the file is a whopping 21 mb, but does contain Ian McKellen’s handwritten notes. Fascinating reading brought to you by the tenth anniversary site Gods and Monsters.net.

Thanks to Dennis and the Weekly Script you can read a draft of Panther, a semi-historical account of the creation of the Black Panther Party written by Melvin Van Peebles.

Check them out on the Movie Scripts page. – Don

update from Sandy:

Bill Condon is a master technician. I?ve recommended Gods and Monsters to many people as a ?how to? guide for just about every technical element you could ever need to use.

In Gods there are flashbacks, hallucinations, dream sequences, scenes from old movies that are flashbacks and scenes from old movies on television that are all intertwined with each other and the present day narrative. It?s all clear and beautifully structured.

There?s a leaner version of Gods and Monsters on the internet [available here from Daily Script] which is easier to read than the one on the anniversary site but the site listed above has the oneline schedule which offers a glimpse into how scripts are broken down and shot.

Happy New Year and the Scripts of Richard Stanley - post author Don

Happy New Year! I got a recent heads up from Lauri, webmaster of:

Probably one of the most comprehensive Richard Stanley unofficial websites on the ‘net. In addition to news and information about Richard Stanley (like his MySpace page) and various Richard Stanley scripts like Hardware, Hardware 2: Ground Zero, and The Island of Dr. Moreau, Lauri has two more fairly recent additions – In a Season of Soft Rains and Death’s Other Kingdom – two unproduced Richard Stanley scripts. You can find links to those over on the Movie Scripts page.

Do check out Between Death and the Devil for tons of info on Richard Stanley as well as Richard Stanley’s MySpace for the latest info on his works in progress. – Don
