The ScriptGirl report for the week ending June 6th, 2008.
Merlin’s quest to fight an ancient evil with a band of nerdy scientists, washed up athletes and movie stars. Lion’s Gate video game adaptation, Harvard Zombie Massacre, Final Orbit (based on a comic book) vacation nightmare (hate when that happens), Finally, with a little help for a certain dorky website, Mike Shelton’s The Swinging Sounds of Jack Amsterdam sold.
Remember, as ScriptGirl sez, “you can’t sell it, if you don’t write it”.
A word about the site. We are in the process of a server move. Please be patient. Hope to have the site moved over by the end of the week. In addition, I’ve shut down the discussion board until I can get all the server error issues resolved. – Don
Thanks to David for the heads up a couple of versions of Serenity. From PDFscreenplays we have a pre April 18, 2004 “kitchen sink” draft. Word is that Joss Whedon threw in everything in this draft which clocks in at 190 pages! As a general rule of thumb (very general) you get one minute of screentime per page. This would have been a three hour movie. From Sci Fi Scripts you can read a later draft dated April 18, 2004 which clocks in at a more reasonable 120 pages. What got left in? What got taken out? Head over to the Movie Scripts page and compare and contrast. – Don
Grinding my way through the backlog of unproduced scripts. There are another thirty original scripts up for your reading pleasure. – Don
ScriptGirl brings you the weekly script update for the week ending May 30th with a divorced couple banding together to kidnap their daughter pre-wedding, a treasure hunter goes to jail to find treasure, ouiji boards and geeks, freaks and jocks.
Remember what ScriptGirl sez, “You can’t sell it, if you don’t write it.” – Don
Thanks to Wade for the heads up on this latest from Bloody Disgusting. Read Jeffrey Reddick’s undated forth draft to the remake of George Romero’s Day of the Dead. Check it out on the Movie Scripts page. – Don
It’s yet another unproduced/rejected Superman script draft. This one is Superman Reborn (no, not the Poirier version). Thanks Dan for the heads up on this August 23, 1992 third draft script by Mark Jones and Cary Bates (Story by Ilya Salkind, Mark Jones and Cary Bates) of Superman Reborn brought to you by the most excellent Superman Cinema. Rather than take the time to hop over to the Movie Scripts page (where you can read a bunch of other excellent scripts) you could hop over to the Superman Reborn page of Superman Cinema. It is in three parts and in pdf format. – Don
Another draft of The Mist, another draft of 3:10 to Yuma and the filmed version of I am Legend – all these from PDFscreenplays.net.
Thanks to Donovan and Daily Script there is David Webb People’s forth draft of Hero. Notice the end of the script where there is an audience of Monkeys. Yes, David Webb People’s of 12 Monkeys fame which came out after Hero.
Thanks to The Weekly Script read The Roughshod. Those and more are on the Movie Scripts page.
Lastly, scripts sales for the weekend ending May 16th from ScriptGirl. She’s funny and hot and everything I’m not. – Don
PDFscreenplays is kicking some serious script booty with two oft requested scripts – Iron Man and Speed Racer. Please note, however, this isn’t the Iron Man script as filmed. This is an early draft by Gough and Millar not by Mark Fergus, Hawk Ostby, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (who penned the script of Iron Man you see in theatres. These and more can be found on the Movie Scripts page.
Thanks also to JBM for his part in these.
Thanks Sam for the typo heads up. I know spel so gud.
Yes, the Discussion Board is temporarily down. I’ll let you know when it is back up. – Don
