FADE IN:
TEASER
INT. JOSH'S BEDROOM - NIGHT
Josh lies asleep in bed. He tosses and turns, throwing
the bed sheets from himself.
He wakes.
He reaches over to his bedside table only to find an
empty glass.
INT. JOSH'S HOUSE - UPSTAIRS HALLWAY
Josh exits his room still half asleep and heads down
the hallway towards the bathroom. He turns into the
bathroom but stops when he hears VOICES from
downstairs.
INT. JOSH'S LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS
Sitting on the couches around a small coffee table are
KIRA, CHRIS, JESSICA, and SARAH.
Josh comes down the stairs un-noticed by the group.
JOSH
Hey guys. What are you all doing
here? Do you know what time it
is?
They ignore him.
JESSICA
Oh he's great, such a reliable
and honest person. It's a shame
that we broke up. I'd get back
with him in a heart beat.
CHRIS
Yeah. He's a hell of a guy.
Always there for you, never lets
you down. He was the one who set
me up with Britney you know.
SARAH
(to Jessica)
Now that you guy's aren't going
out, would you mind if...
JESSICA
(mocking)
You bitch.
SARAH
I'm only teasing.
Josh walks around the room, they really aren't seeing
him at all. They continue to talk:
KIRA
I think he's real cute. Perfect
boyfriend material.
JESSICA
(to Kira)
You should go for it.
Sarah gives Jessica a look.
SARAH
Oh so she can go out with your
ex?
JESSICA
(to Sarah)
Yeah, he would be perfect for
Kira.
Kira smiles.
CHRIS
Yup, all the ladies want a piece
of Josh.
The girls giggle.
KIRA
But he's not all that reliable.
CHRIS
What are you on about. It's
Josh.
KIRA
Well, it happened last week.
Just a couple of hours after I
met Josh...
Suddenly there's a KNOCK at the DOOR interrupting Kira.
Josh jumps a little startled. He turns to look at the
group who are now looking straight at him.
CHRIS
It's for you.
Josh moves to the door but stops when he reaches it. He
looks back at the others who are still watching him.
JESSICA
Go on Josh, answer it.
Another KNOCK.
Josh reaches for the handle and opens the door.
REVERSE ON: JOSH
As he stumbles back from the door, away from the
visitor. His face filled with shock and horror.
JOSH
No, it can't be. You, your--
In the doorway there stands a MAN. He is dressed in a
brown tatty robe with the hood pulled up covering his
face. He walks through the doorway.
Josh moves back, tripping over the coffee table and
falling onto it, smashing it into pieces.
The man pulls back the hood revealing the burnt and
bloodied face of JOSEPH KLINE. Blood oozes from his
eyes and nose.
Josh stares back.
JOSEPH
You couldn't save me. You didn't
even try
(beat)
Son.
The blood drips from Joseph's eyes and rolls down his
cheek. Joseph wipes the blood with his thumb and smiles
showing his teeth, which are rotten and broken.
INT. JOSH'S NEW BEDROOM - NIGHT
Josh wakes with a start. He is soaked in sweat and
gasping for air.
We see that he's in a different room, a new bedroom. He
is surrounded by brown boxes, filled with all of his
stuff, nothing has been unpacked yet apart from a photo
of Josh, his mum and his dad, which sits on the table
by Josh's bed.
Josh sits up and rubs his eyes. He looks over at the
picture. There is a sudden FLASH and we see the BURNT
JOSEPH FROM THE DREAM.
Josh shakes it off. He climbs out of bed and walks over
to a pile of boxes. He starts going through them until
he finds what he's looking for. Josh picks up one of
the boxes and pours the contents of it onto the bed.
Stakes, holy water and crosses cover the bed. Josh
stares down at them.
EXT. GRAVEYARD - NIGHT
CLOSE ON: A VAMPIRE
His face is hideous, yellow eyes, sharp fangs, bumpy
forehead the whole works.
CLOSE ON: JOSH
A cut on his brow, face covered in sweat, and looking
very angry.
We PULL BACK to see that they are both standing not
more than ten feet apart in the middle of the
graveyard.
The vampire rushes towards Josh, Josh runs towards him.
When they meet in the middle Josh leaps into the air
and kicks the vamp twice in the chest.
The vampire stumbles back but keeps on coming. They
continue to SPAR, and with each blow the battle gets
more and more intense.
Josh hits the vamp with a nasty left hook and then
grabs him by the neck. He brings him down to the ground
where they struggle for a moment.
JOSH
Your--
With a CRACK Josh snaps the vampire's neck, instant
DUST.
JOSH (cont'd)
--history.
Josh stands up straight and walks off into the night.
We linger in the graveyard for a moment and then MOVE
from the spot of the dusted vamp. Past some
gravestones, and down by a huge mausoleum.
In the distance we hear MUMBLING, could even be
CHANTING we just can't make out any of the words.
We turn the corner of the mausoleum to see a MAN in a
brown robe, hood up covering his face.
He walks around scattering herbs and other powders onto
the ground forming a circle around a grave.
ANGLE: THE GRAVESTONE
Reads: THOMAS KENNEDY 1969 - 2004
The man continues to chant, walks into the center of
the circle and drops to his knees. He reaches into the
robe and pulls out a small glass sphere. It begins to
glow.
The ground starts to RUMBLE and SHAKE, the circle
around the man crackles with green energies and magics.
MAN
Arise.
There is a BRIGHT FLASH OF LIGHT and then nothing but
silence.
A HAND suddenly burst out of the ground in front of the
grave.
BLACK OUT:

ACT ONE
EXT. JOSH'S NEW HOUSE - MORNING
Establishing shot of a two story house. The sun shines
bright above the house.
TINA (O.S.)
Josh Kline! Are you getting up?
INT. JOSH'S NEW KITCHEN - CONTINUOUS
The kitchen is busy as the people occupying it go about
their normal morning routine.
Sitting at the breakfast table are BRUCE SLATER --
early forties and dressed in a suit for work.
He sits and read the morning new paper.
Sitting in a high chair not far from his is TODD SLATER
-- one year old, he has more of his breakfast on his
face than in his mouth.
Serving up breakfast is TINA SLATER -- late thirties,
she is also dressed in a suit.
She puts down a plate of pancakes on the table, there
are two more settings but no one sitting in them.
TINA
(shouting)
Come on you two! I won't ask you
again!
INT. JOSH'S NEW BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS
Josh lays fast asleep in bed.
TINA (O.S.)
Josh Kline! Get your behind out
of bed!
Josh starts to stir with a GROAN.
His bedroom door opens. Standing in the doorway is
CATHERINE SLATER -- stunningly beautiful and dressed to
impress. She's the same age as Josh and looks like
she's part of the in crowd at school.
CATHERINE
Hey! Kline! You want a ride into
school today or not?
Josh lies with his back to her, he opens his eyes.
Catherine looks about his room.
CATHERINE (cont'd)
If you can find any clothes in
here. You've been here two weeks
Josh. You should really think
about unpacking those boxes.
She walks off.
INT. JOSH'S NEW KITCHEN - CONTINUOUS
Catherine enters from upstairs, the rest of the family
are sitting enjoying their breakfast.
TINA
(to Catherine)
Are you seeing Troy today?
Catherine sighs, she knows where this is going. She
takes a seat.
CATHERINE
(sarcastically)
Yes I am as he does go to the
same school as me. Remember?
TINA
Don't be like that Catherine,
you know what I meant.
CATHERINE
Yes, we're going out after
school, thinking about going to
the mall.
Tina doesn't say another work but the look on her face
says it all -- she's not keen on Troy at all.
CATHERINE (cont'd)
Why does every conversation we
have, have to be about Troy? Why
do you have such a big problem
with him?
TINA
It's not that I...we don't
approve of him it's just.
CATHERINE
You don't approve of him! God
this is totally not fair! You've
never like any of my boyfriends!
What do you want me to do?
Become a nun!
Bruce continues reading the newspaper.
BRUCE
(not looking up)
Sounds like a good plan to me.
Catherine gets up, grabs her bag and heads for the
door.
TINA
What about Josh?
CATHERINE
He can walk.
She opens the door and leaves slamming it behind her.
Tina just stares at Bruce. He looks up from his paper.
BRUCE
What?
Josh enters looking exhausted. He takes a seat and
pours himself some cereal.
JOSH
Morning.
(beat)
Has Catherine left already?
They both look at him.
BRUCE
How you feeling today skipper?
JOSH
Better thanks.
TINA
Are you sure your ready to go
back toady? Have another day if
you want? I'm sure the principal
would understand.
JOSH
Nah, I'm okay. The sooner things
get back to normal then I guess
things may start to get easy.
TINA
Okay, Josh.
Tina comes over and gives him a kiss on the forehead.
BRUCE
If you hurry up and finish your
breakfast I'll give you a lift
into school.
JOSH
Thanks.
EXT. LEWIS HIGH - MORNING
The school is busy with activity as students arrive for
their day.
We move through the crowd of people and spot Chris
chatting with a bunch of his jock friends.
Not far from him is Jessica looking as attractive as
ever with her crowd, not one of them looks like they've
spend less than three hours getting ready.
We continue through the masses students, the Goths,
skaters, nerds, and finally stop to rest on a single
person standing all alone - Kira.
She seems lost and looks at the various groups of
people, looking for someone.
The BELL RINGS and the students head indoors. Kira has
one more look about and follows the rest of them in.
A car pulls up and stops by the entrance to the school.
Inside is Josh and his uncle. Josh gets out of the car
and waves his uncle goodbye as he drives off.
Josh stands and looks up at the school for a moment.
JOSH
Come on. You can do this.
He heads up the stone steps leading up to the school.
INT. LEWIS HIGH - HALLWAY
The hallway is filled with people going from their
lockers to the classrooms.
Josh enters and makes his way down the hallway, trying
to ignore the looks of sympathy from the other
students.
He reaches his locker and opens it.
CHRIS (O.C.)
Nice to see you got your ass out
of bed this morning.
Josh closes the locker door revealing Chris.
JOSH
Hey Chris.
They shake hands.
CHRIS
So guess your ready for some
Lewis High fun?
JOSH
As always. Looking forward to
it. How's the team doing with
out me?
CHRIS
The team has sucked since you've
been gone. It'll be good to have
someone who can keep a little
distance between the ice and his
ass.
They both laugh.
CHRIS (cont'd)
So how's it going with you
anyway?
JOSH
Better you know. Sometimes I
feel fine and others, lousy.
CHRIS
You settling in okay at your
Aunt's?
JOSH
Yeah they've been great. Strange
though, It'd been me and my dad
for so long that I'd forgotten
how crazy it can be just to get
into the bathroom in the
morning.
CHRIS
And lets guess Cat takes the
longest?
JOSH
Forever.
CHRIS
So have you spoken to Jess yet?
JOSH
No not yet. I don't know what to
say to her. We've been broken up
for two weeks now, how do I go
up to her and be all "hey how
are you?" When it was me who
broke it off.
CHRIS
Hey all you've got to do is talk
to her, she didn't know about
your dad being ill.
There is a subtle hardening in Josh's face, Chris
doesn't seem to notice it.
CHRIS (cont'd)
She'll understand.
JOSH
Thanks.
CHRIS
Hey man. Did you hear about
Erica Foster?
JOSH
Who?
CHRIS
You know Mr. Foster, our science
teacher? His daughter, she
killed herself last week. The
rumor is, is that she didn't
make it onto the cheer squad.
Nobody had seen her since the
list was posted, not until her
dad found her.
Josh spots Kira walking by. She doesn't see him and
continues walking.
JOSH
No way.
(beat)
Hey man I'll catch up with you
in class.
Chris nods and Josh runs off catching up with Kira.
JOSH (cont'd)
Hey! Kira!
She turns and smiles when she realizes who it is.
KIRA
Hey Josh!
She comes over and gives him a big hug. Josh responds
awkwardly, not sure what to do.
KIRA (cont'd)
Finally someone I know.
They stop hugging.
JOSH
Come on you've been here two
weeks, you've had to have made
some friends.
KIRA
Well, I know a couple of people
but, not what I'd call friends.
JOSH
You settling in okay?
KIRA
Yeah it's okay I suppose. How
are you?
JOSH
Good. First day back since...
There's a moment of awkwardness between them.
KIRA
You okay?
JOSH
Yeah. It's still a little hard
at times but I'm getting through
it. My Aunt and Uncle have been
great through it all.
Kira hugs Josh again, this time he embraces the hug.
ANGLE: JESSICA
Watches from her locker, unseen by either Josh or Kira.
She has been watching for a while now and doesn't like
what she's seen. She SLAMS the locker shut and storms
off down the hall.
Kira and Josh continue talking.
KIRA
Just for the record. When you
fought in the temple, you were
everything I ever dreamed a
Slayer would be.
JOSH
I'm no hero Kira.
KIRA
Yes you are. If you weren't
there, I'd be dead, my family
would be dead and Styles's whole
crazy plan would have worked.
The world would be in a living
hell right now Josh if it wasn't
for you.
JOSH
I still should have saved him.
INT. LEWIS HIGH - CLASSROOM - LATER
The class is in session, including Josh, Chris,
Jessica.
MR. FOSTER stands at the front of the class. He's in
his early forties and looks tired and run down.
MR. FOSTER
The smallest cell, a type of
bacterium known as a mycoplasma,
measures 0.0001 mm in diameter;
10,000 mycoplasmas in a row are
only as wide as the diameter of
a human hair.
Josh barley listens and is doodling on his notebook in
front of him.
Josh lets his gaze move to the window. He stares
dreamily outside.
ANGLE: JOSH'S POV
From the window Josh can see all the way out onto the
football field.
On the field the team is training, running backward and
forward across the field.
ANGLE: JOSH
He turns away from the window and brings his attention
back to Mr. Foster.
MR. FOSTER (cont'd)
So can anyone tell me how many
varieties of different bacteria
the human body carries?
Josh begins to doodle again.
ANGLE: JOSH'S NOTEBOOK
Written across the page: "I DON'T CARE!"
He looks up from the book and looks out the window
again.
ANGLE: JOSH'S POV -- FOOTBALL FIELD
The team continue running back and forth. As they run
back across they reveal a FIGURE IN A ROBE standing
looking right at Josh. It's face is covered by the hood
of the robe.
ANGLE: JOSH
He frowns, staring back at the figure.
ANGLE: JOSH'S POV -- FIGURE IN ROBE
Slowly begins to walk toward Josh. The figure peels
back the hood.
ANGLE: JOSH
JOSH
(whispering to
himself)
Dad?
The BELL RINGS startling Josh.
The class start to gather their things and file out of
the class.
Josh glances back out of the window.
ANGLE: JOSH'S POV -- FOOTBALL FIELD
The field is empty, the figure in the robe is gone.
ANGLE: JOSH
Picks up his notebook and stuffs it into his bag. Chris
comes over to him.
CHRIS
Hey, you okay man?
JOSH
Uh, yeah.
(re: class)
It just nearly put me to sleep
is all.
CHRIS
Come on, I'll buy lunch.
They leave class.
Mr. Foster is sitting at his desk going through some
papers.
Jessica and two of her friends, a blonde girl (STACY)
and a redhead (KATIE) - both pretty girls - walk up to
the desk.
STACY
Mr. Foster, sir?
He looks up.
MR. FOSTER
Yes Stacy?
STACY
(very fake)
We'd just like to say how sorry
we are about Erica. She'll be
missed.
MR. FOSTER
Thank you girls. It's nice to
know Erica had so many friends
who cared about her, and I'm
sure she's watching over us all
right now.
The girls leave.
Mr. Foster gets up and closes the door after them.
He walks back over to his desk and takes his seat. He
opens the desk draw and takes out a photograph.
ANGLE: THE PHOTOGRAPH
Is of the school cheerleading team. On it is Jessica,
Stacy, Katie, and three other good-looking girls.
MR. FOSTER (cont'd)
(angry)
You weren't her real friends.
You we're the ones who are
responsible. You are the ones
who killed my baby.
He slams the photo down onto the desk.
Sitting on the desk is another photo, this one is in a
frame. This picture is of ERICA, she is the same age as
Jessica and co, but no way as pretty.
He picks up the photograph of Erica and strokes the
photo Erica's cheek.
MR. FOSTER (cont'd)
They will get what they deserve
baby. They will pay for what
they have done.
Mr. Foster pulls out a glass sphere from the desk draw.
It begins to glows.
MR. FOSTER (cont'd)
They will pay.

ACT TWO
INT. LEWIS HIGH - LIBRARY
At the front of the library is the check in/out desk
complete with an back office.
On the ground floor of the library we have a work area
where a few students are working quietly. At the back
of the room there is an area filled with computers.
Up on the second floor is where the books are kept in
the stacks.
Sitting at one of the desks is Kira, her head buried in
a book.
The door to the library opens and in walks Jessica. She
walks straight over to Kira.
JESSICA
Kira. Isn't it?
Kira looks up.
KIRA
Um, yeah. And you are?
JESSICA
Jessica Albridge. Your new
around here so I'll let you off
this one time.
KIRA
Let me off with what?
JESSICA
I saw you and Josh earlier. See
me and Josh we're kind of going
through a rough patch at the
moment so I wouldn't get any
ideas about you and him getting
closer if I were you.
KIRA
What? Me and Josh are just
friends Jessica.
JESSICA
Well it'd be best to keep it
that way. Or I'll make your life
here a living hell...got it?
Jessica turns and leaves leaving Kira sitting alone.
BILLY (O.C.)
That Jessica can be one hell of
a bitch.
BILLY WALKER pulls up a seat next to Kira, he gestures
"is it okay to sit", she nods and he sits.
Billy is your typical skater boy type, the baggy jeans,
and a t-shirt advertising the latest punk band. He has
long black hair separated into curtains not the best
looking guy around but he has a cheeky look about him,
which one day girls will love.
BILLY (cont'd)
Hi I'm Billy Walker.
He smiles.
KIRA
Kira Geller. Are you sure I'm
allowed to talk to you?
BILLY
(smiling)
Don't worry. I'm not even a blip
on Jessica's radar. I'm not what
you would call a "cool" kid.
KIRA
Well I guess that makes two of
us then.
They both laugh.
EXT. LEWIS HIGH - AFTERNOON
School has finished and everyone is leaving. Jessica
and Stacy walk down the stone steps and off towards the
student car park.
STACY
(re: Kira)
You let her off lightly. If she
had hit on one of my ex's I
would have...
(a beat)
You think he likes her?
Jessica gives her a look.
STACY (cont'd)
Only kidding. So how is it
between you and Josh? Has he
even talked to you yet?
JESSICA
Not yet. But I was talking to
Chris earlier and him and Josh
are going to Joey's tonight.
STACY
So I take it that's where we'll
be?
JESSICA
(she nods)
And when Josh gets a look of
what I'll be wearing he'll
realize just what he's missing.
They come to a silver car and stop walking. Jessica
reaches into her bag and pulls out some car keys.
JESSICA (cont'd)
You sure that I can't drop you
off?
STACY
Nah, I'll be fine. I'm meeting
Pete outside the gym.
JESSICA
Pete, eh?
Stacey gets a little embarrassed.
JESSICA (cont'd)
What happened to Ben?
STACY
(joking)
Ben who?
Again they laugh. Jessica unlocks the car and gets into
it.
JESSICA
Okay, so I'll see you at seven
thirty.
STACY
I'll be there.
Jessica waves and drives off. Stacy walks down the side
of the school and around to the entrance to the gym.
SOMEONE/THING'S POV -- we follow Stacy slowly, keeping
our distance.
Stacey stops outside of the gym and checks her watch.
The door to the gym is closed, a couple of cars are
still parked outside.
STACY (cont'd)
(to herself)
Come on Pete.
Stacy hears FOOTSTEPS coming from around the corner and
smiles to herself. She moves towards the sound
footsteps and turns the corner walking straight into.
STACY (cont'd)
Hey baby. You...
THOMAS KENNEDY -- very much dead you could say un-dead,
his face is pale and the skin is ripped and bloodied.
His eyes are white with no pupils. His clothes are torn
and covered in dirt from digging himself out of his
grave. This my friends is a zombie.
He staggers toward Stacy. She looks back wide eyed.
STACY (cont'd)
What are you?
He groans at her and she lets out an almighty SCREAM.
EXT. LEWIS HIGH - ENTRANCE OF THE SCHOOL
Josh exits the school. There are no other students
about, he is one of the last to leave. He walks down
the steps and head off onto the main street.
He stops when he hears STACY'S SCREAM.
JOSH
What the?
He turns and sprints off in the direction of the
scream.
EXT. LEWIS HIGH - SIDE OF GYM
Josh bounds round the corner to find Thomas crouched
over Stacey's lifeless body. Thomas turns, his mouth
stained with Stacey's blood.
He drops the body and slowly moves towards Josh.
JOSH
What the hell are you?
Again the zombie groans and continues toward Josh. He
lunges at Josh but Josh grabs his arms before he even
gets close.
JOSH (cont'd)
Get the hell off me.
Josh tosses Thomas back, into the air and straight into
the gym wall.
Josh runs over lifeless body of Stacy. Her face is pale
and splattered with blood from the bite wound in her
neck.
Thomas is back on his feet. He begins to walk off. Josh
gets to his feet and cuts him off.
JOSH (cont'd)
Your not going anywhere.
Thomas grabs Josh and they grapple with one another.
Thomas leans in to BITE Josh's arm but Josh pushes him
back and jabs him in the face.
Thomas falls to the ground.
JOSH (cont'd)
Come on I didn't even hit you
that hard. Get back up!
Josh grabs him by the collar and pulls him close.
Thomas's head falls back -- lifeless. His eyes are wide
open and now have brown pupils in them.
Josh drops the body.
JOSH (cont'd)
What the hell is going on?
In the distance the blinds in a classroom window snap
shut quickly, we don't see who was watching, neither
does Josh.
EXT. POLICE PRECINCT - AFTERNOON
Establishing shot of the old stone Police building.
A couple of OFFICERS walk into the building, with a
handcuffed suspect.
INT. POLICE PRECINCT - CONTINUOUS
The police precinct is busy. Officers sit at desks
interviewing people, talking on phones, typing up
reports.
Sitting at one desk is Josh, he sits alone and looks
fed up.
OFFICER TED HARRISON -- late thirties, slim, looking
slightly rough -- comes out of a side room and takes a
seat behind the desk.
HARRISON
Okay Josh. Lets go through this
one more time.
Josh sighs.
JOSH
Come on. I've been through this
a hundred times now. I heard a
scream and ran to it and found
that guy with Stacy.
HARRISON
And she was dead when you found
her.
JOSH
Yeah.
HARRISON
And what happened after that?
JOSH
The guy tried to run off so I
tried to stop him.
HARRISON
Are you sure that's all you did?
JOSH
Well I kinda hit him.
HARRISON
You hit him?
JOSH
Well he tried to bite me when I
grabbed him.
OFFICER TANYA SLATER -- pretty girl in her late
twenties approaches the desk, in her hand she holds a
file.
SLATER
Ted. Can I talk to you for a
moment?
HARRISON
Excuse me for a moment Josh.
Harrison joins Slater, they walk about ten feet away
from the desk and stop. She opens the file revealing a
picture of THOMAS.
HARRISON (cont'd)
What is it?
SLATER
Well we've identified the John
Doe as a Thomas Kennedy.
In the background Josh listens.
HARRISON
Have you contacted any living
relatives?
SLATER
Well that's the problem.
According to records on this
guy, he's been dead and buried
for three months now.
HARRISON
(shocked)
That's impossible. Are you sure?
SLATER
Yes. We ran a dental check on
this guy and it came up
positive. This guy is the
recently deceased Thomas
Kennedy.
HARRISON
So what's a dead guy doing
attacking girls at a high
school?
(a beat)
Thanks.
Harrison rejoins Josh and Slater walks off.
HARRISON (cont'd)
Okay Josh. Your free to go.
Josh gets to his feet in a hurry.
HARRISON (cont'd)
We've contacted your Aunt and
Uncle and they're on there way
down to collect you.
Josh sits.
JOSH
Oh great.
INT. HOUSE - KITCHEN - AFTERNOON
We move through the house, the blinds have been drawn
and the inside looks as though it hasn't been lived in
for months, we continue moving into the:
INT. HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS
Again the blinds are drawn, tiny rays of light shoot
through the small slots in the blinds. The TV is on,
sitting in front of it is Mr. Foster.
ANGLE: THE TV
On it is a home video of Erica -- she is nine years
old.
She is dressing in a cheerleader outfit and dances
about with pom-poms. She giggles and looks towards us.
ERICA
Daddy. When I grow up I'm going
to be a cheerleader.
ANGLE: MR. FOSTER
Fighting back the tears, he smiles to his on screen
daughter.
MR. FOSTER
You'll be the best cheerleader
in the world baby.
ANGLE: THE TV
Erica smiles and continues dancing.
ANGLE: MR. FOSTER
Wipes a tear from his cheek and gets up. He walks into
the hallway and down into the:
INT. HOUSE - BASEMENT - CONTINUOUS
He heads down the steps into the darkened basement. In
the far corner of the room there are two unconscious
MEN chained to the wall.
MR. FOSTER
It wasn't meant to happen like
that. That boy wasn't meant to
get involved, he nearly blew it.
Got to get it done faster.
The two men stir, they open their eyes and look down at
the chains holding them, then up at Mr. Foster.
In an instant they VAMP OUT and begin pulling at the
chains, trying to break them, with no luck.
MR. FOSTER (cont'd)
Struggle as much as you want
you'll never break them. It's
nearly night fall and I have a
job for you.
VAMP#1
If you think we're going to do
anything for you, your kidding
yourself.
MR. FOSTER
I disagree.
Mr. Foster pulls out the glass sphere, it begins to
glow.
The vampires stop struggling, their pupils in their
eyes fading from yellow to white.
MR. FOSTER (cont'd)
You will take care the one
responsible for my baby's death.
She needs to pay for it. We need
to kill...
Foster pulls out the photo with the CHEERLEADER SQUAD
on it. Stacy's face has been blotted out with a black
mark.
MR. FOSTER (cont'd)
...Jessica Albridge.

END OF ACT TWO
ACT THREE
EXT. JOEY'S CLUB - NIGHT
The club is busy, kids heading inside. The BOOM, BOOM,
BOOM of music can be heard from outside.
INT. JOEY'S CLUB - CONTINUOUS
It is dark and busy inside, a band plays on stage with
the crowd watching and dancing in front of the stage.
At the back, standing by the bar is Jessica, and a
group of her friends.
They all look a little bummed out.
JESSICA
I can't believe she's dead. I'd
only spoken to her five minutes
earlier.
GIRL#1
Did they say how she died?
JESSICA
Apparently she was attacked by
so crazy homeless guy.
GIRL#2
I heard that the police had
taken Josh down to the station
GIRL#1
No way. Do you think he, you
know?
JESSICA
Don't be stupid! He'd never hurt
anyone.
GIRL#2
(bitchy)
Not physically anyway.
Jess gets where she's going with it and glances over
the other side of the club.
JESSICA
I don't believe it. Look who it
is.
The girls look and see Kira standing with Billy
watching the band.
ANGLE: THE BALCONY
Standing watching the girls talk is Mr. Foster.
MR. FOSTER
Look at them. Bitching, picking
on another girl.
(re: Jess)
And her, the ringleader.
Standing next to Foster is one of the vampires from
earlier in human mode, his eyes are still white.
MR. FOSTER (cont'd)
She's the prime target. If any
of the other interfere or try to
act like a hero, kill them. I
want Jessica alive.
The vamp nods and heads off. Foster continues to watch
the girls.
INT. DEMON BAR (DENVER'S) - NIGHT
The bar is full of it's normal run of the mill demons,
vampires etc.
William is wiping down the bar, when the front door
opens.
In walks Josh.
William shakes his head at Josh and turns to the
customers, who are now staring at Josh.
WILLIAM
Don't worry. You won't get any
trouble from him.
(to Josh)
Come here.
Josh heads for the bar, and pulls up a stool. William
walks around the front of the bar and stands behind it.
WILLIAM (cont'd)
What do you think your doing
coming here? I made it clear to
Ms. Summers that I didn't want
to be bothered after the
business with Styles.
JOSH
Well, Buffy and Giles are gone
and your the only other guy I
know who knows about this weird
stuff.
WILLIAM
I'm sorry Josh. I can't help
you.
JOSH
Okay. If that's the way you want
to play it.
William looks at Josh, a little confused.
WILLIAM
Play it?
Josh fishes a stake out of his jacket pocket. William
grabs Josh's arm.
WILLIAM (cont'd)
What the hell are you doing? Put
that thing away in here!
JOSH
If your not going to help me
then I'm going to take out each
and everyone of your customers.
William laughs.
WILLIAM
Your mad. There's too many of
them, they'd tear you apart.
JOSH
Maybe. But no doubt half your
bar would get trashed in the
process. Never mind what they'd
do to you after you told them
they'd get no trouble.
William releases his grip on Josh's arm, he knows when
he's beaten.
WILLIAM
What do you want?
Josh puts the stake away.
JOSH
Have you ever heard of zombies?
WILLIAM
Yes. I've heard of them.
JOSH
See the thing is I found a girl
at school, dead. Then this guy
attacked me so I knocked him
down, but he didn't get back up.
WILLIAM
You killed him?
JOSH
Well that's what I thought. But
when I was at the police
precinct I overhead the officer
in charge talking to another
officer and according to records
this guy's been dead for three
months already.
WILLIAM
And he wasn't a vampire?
JOSH
Unless this guy was wearing a
hell of a lot of sun cream, I'd
say no.
WILLIAM
Well if he was a zombie then the
only way he would have stopped
attacking you would have been if
you decapitated him.
JOSH
All I did was hit him and he
fell down. No decapitation
involved at all.
WILLIAM
(realizing)
Unless he was being controlled
by someone.
JOSH
What do you mean, controlled?
WILLIAM
There are people, Necromancers
who use powerful magics to
control the dead to do their
bidding.
JOSH
Well then who would have wanted
to kill Stacy?
WILLIAM
If I were you I'd be worrying
about whether or not that was
the last kill or the first.
INT. JOEY'S CLUB - NIGHT
The band is still playing, Kira and Billy now sitting.
Kira gets up and walks through the crowd and into the
ladies toilet.
Standing by herself, checking how good she looks in the
mirror, is Jessica. Kira sighs.
JESSICA
Hope your not waiting around to
see if Josh will show.
KIRA
(a little angry)
What the hell is your problem? I
told earlier that me and Josh
are just friends!
Kira turns to leave. Standing in the doorway is the
VAMPIRE.
KIRA (cont'd)
No.
The vampire grabs Kira and tosses her through one of
the toilet stalls, the stall collapses in on itself.
Jess screams as the vampire grabs her.
JESSICA
Get the hell off me!
He pushes her back, the back of her head hitting the
wall hard, she passes out.
ANGLE: KIRA
She is starting to come too.
ANGLE: KIRA'S POV -- It's blurry but we can make out
the vampire picking up Jess. Standing at the door,
watching is Mr. Foster.
Everything goes black as Kira passes out again.
EXT. JOSH'S NEW HOUSE - NIGHT
The street outside the house is empty, except for Josh.
He heads towards home.
KIRA (O.C.)
Josh!
He turns around. Standing there is Kira. Her face is
cut, and bruised from the incident earlier.
JOSH
What the hell happened to you?
KIRA
I'm okay. Just a couple of
bruises. There's been a vamp
attack at Joey's.
JOSH
What?
KIRA
It wasn't a big attack or
nothing. Me and Jessica were
attacked in the toilet's. I
passed out but before I did I
saw the vampire and Mr. Foster
taking Jessica away.
JOSH
The science guy? What would he
want with Jess?
Josh heads for the house.
KIRA
Where are you going?
JOSH
Catherine used to be friends
with his Erica before high
school. First thing would be to
check out where he lives.
Kira follows.
INT. HOUSE - BASEMENT
The room is now lit by four candles, casting eerie
shadows up the walls.
Propped up against the wall is Jessica. Mr. Foster
stands in front of her.
MR. FOSTER
Wake up my dear.
Nothing.
MR. FOSTER (cont'd)
I said wake up!
He slaps her across the face. She begins to wake.
JESSICA
(groggy)
Where?
She looks ahead and see Mr. Foster.
JESSICA (cont'd)
You.
She begins to sob.
JESSICA (cont'd)
What do you want from me?
MR. FOSTER
Want? There's nothing I want
from you, my girl.
He begins to pace around the room.
MR. FOSTER (cont'd)
You stole something from me and
something's got to be done about
it. Right is right and fair is
fair.
JESSICA
What are you going on about. I
never stole anything from you.
Mr. Foster just stares at Jess, anger and rage in his
eyes.
MR. FOSTER
Yes. Yes you did. You and your
little friends. You stole her
away from me, my baby.
JESSICA
Your baby?
MR. FOSTER
My baby girl.
Then it sinks in and Jessica realizes what he's going
on about.
JESSICA
Erica.
MR. FOSTER
Yes. Erica, you took her away
from me and now your going to
pay.
From Mr. Foster's hand, light from the sphere lights up
the basement. For the first time we can see that the
two VAMPIRES are standing behind him, waiting.
EXT. STREET - NIGHT
Josh and Kira jog down the street.
JOSH
When we get in their you get
Jess out. I'll take care of the
vamps, and Mr. Foster.
KIRA
Right. There it is ahead.
They head for Mr. Foster's house, up the pathway and up
to the front door.
Without breaking his stride Josh kicks the door,
sending it flying into the house, off it's hinges.
They enter.
INT. HOUSE - CONTINUOUS
Josh and Kira walk into the hallway, Josh hands a cross
to Kira.
JOSH
This will keep you safe.
He pulls out a stake as they walk into the living room.
KIRA
I'd rather have one of those.
She smiles at him, and he smiles back.
INT. HOUSE - LIVING ROOM
The TV is still playing to the darkened room.
KIRA
Who's that girl?
JOSH
It's his daughter, Erica. She
killed herself not long back.
KIRA
Oh. I still don't understand why
he has Jess.
Josh sees something on the wall.
JOSH
I do.
ANGLE: THE WALL
Hanging off the wall is a banner, it has been torn down
but still hangs by one pin.
It reads -- "Congratulations Erica" and has a picture
of a cheerleader on it.
KIRA
Jessica's team captain, isn't
she?
JOSH
Yup.
There is a SCREAM and Josh and Kira jump with shock.
KIRA
That came from...
JOSH
...there.
They run into another hallway and stop outside the
doorway to the basement. Josh takes a step back and...
INT. HOUSE - BASEMENT
The door flies inwards, off it's hinges and bounces
down the basement stairs.
Mr. Foster turns as Josh and Kira descend the stairs.
MR. FOSTER
No!
He looks at the now unconscious Jess and then up to the
vamp.
MR. FOSTER (cont'd)
Kill them.
The sphere glows and the vampire charges towards Josh
and Kira.
JOSH
(to Kira)
Stand back.
With that Josh explodes into action. He meets the first
vamp with a punch to the face, and then a kick to the
chest that sends him hurtling through the air.
MR. FOSTER
What the hell are you?
JOSH
You don't need to do this.
Nobody needs to get hurt.
Foster turns to the other vamp.
MR. FOSTER
Go!
Again the sphere glows. This time Josh sees this.
JOSH
Your controlling the...
He is cut off as the second vampire rushes him and
knocks him to the ground. The vamp leaps on top of Josh
pinning him to the ground.
The vampire punches Josh twice in the face.
JOSH (cont'd)
No fair. When's it my turn.
Josh struggles and head butts the vampire square in the
face. The vamp falls off him and rolls to the ground.
Josh gets up, dusting himself off.
MR. FOSTER
(to the vamps)
Both of you. Get up.
The sphere glows, and the vamps get to their feet and
come for Josh.
JOSH
(to Mr. Foster)
So let me get this straight.
Your the one who killed Stacy
with the zombie guy...
One vamps dives for him, Josh elbows the vamp in the
face and as the vamp stumbles back he smashes the stake
into it's chest -- BAM, dust.
JOSH (cont'd)
...and now you can control
vampires too. Why?
The second vamp comes for him and grabs him pushing him
back. Josh stumbles back, with the vamp still holding
onto him. They both fall against the stairs. The vamp
pushes down on Josh.
MR. FOSTER
Why? You ask me why? I'm not the
murderer here. I'm the one
seeking revenge for the death of
my daughter.
Mr. Kline, do you know what it's
like to have someone you love
with all your heart and soul be
snatched away from you?
Josh manages to push the vamp off him, and kicks him
hard in the chest. They continue to trade blows, Josh
blocks a punch and then sweeps the vampire's legs away,
it falls to the ground and Josh brings the stake down,
dusting him.
Josh turns to Mr. Foster, his expression more serious
than it's ever been.
JOSH
Yes. I do know what it's like to
have someone taken from you. The
difference is, is that Erica
wasn't killed by Jessica or any
of her friends. Erica killed
herself.
MR. FOSTER
(upset)
No, no, no, no! They did it! All
she ever wanted was to be a
cheerleader and when they turned
her away, they killed her!
Josh moves towards Mr. Foster. Kira watches from
underneath the stairs.
JOSH
No they didn't. I'm sorry for
what happened, but they had
nothing to do with it. You can't
punish them for what happened.
Mr. Foster drops to his knees and begins to sob.
MR. FOSTER
But my baby. She...she...can't
be. They killed her. They killed
her.
He gets to his feet.
MR. FOSTER (cont'd)
And they must die.
He holds out the sphere out in front of him, it glows.
JOSH
No!
Josh runs towards him but is hit by a blast of energy
from the sphere. Josh flies through the air and crashes
into the ground.
JOSH (cont'd)
Uhhh.
Mr. Foster raises the sphere above his head, the light
from it growing brighter and brighter.
MR. FOSTER
Now you must die.
He turns to the spot where Jessica was.
MR. FOSTER (cont'd)
No!
He turns and sees Kira helping Jessica climb the steps.
MR. FOSTER (cont'd)
No! You can't get away. You must
pay!
He brings the sphere down in front of him and energy
shoots from it. Kira pulls Jessica and herself up the
last few steps and into the house as the energy shoots
by their feet, under the staircase and exploding behind
it.
The staircase explodes too, wood is sent flying through
the air, a large spike of wood towards Mr. Foster.
JOSH
No!
ANGLE: MR. FOSTER
Staggers back and falls against the wall in shock.
MR. FOSTER
I, I.
We MOVE DOWN his body to his chest, out of which pokes
the large spike of wood. Blood flows from the wound,
and from his mouth. His breathes are short and fast and
then, nothing.
We hold on Mr. Fosters corpse and MOVE DOWN to his
hand, which is clasped around something. His grip
weakens and the glass sphere drops, smashing on the
ground.
END OF ACT THREE
ACT FOUR
EXT. HOUSE - NIGHT
ANGLE: JESS
Who is still unconscious, and is being carried out of
the house on a stretcher by two paramedics we follow
her being carried out and see that there is a frenzy of
activity outside the house. Two police cruisers, a fire
truck and an ambulance. Neighbors watch from the
street.
The back end of the house is now engulfed in flames.
Kira stands by the gate to the house watching, while
Josh talks to a police officer. Josh finishes up and
joins Kira.
KIRA
Is Jess going to be okay?
JOSH
They think she'll have a mild
concussion but apart from that
she'll be fine.
They start down the street.
KIRA
Do you think that she'll
remember anything that happened?
JOSH
I don't know. Maybe. Guess we'll
just have to wait and see.
KIRA
How are you anyway? You got hit
pretty bad back there.
JOSH
I'm fine.
He opens his jacket. His t-shirt is burnt right through
to the skin, which is also burnt slightly.
JOSH
Hurts a little but, it'll heal.
They both smile.
JOSH
You did well in there getting
Jess out when you did.
If it wasn't for you she'd be
gone right now, thanks.
KIRA
You were the one who did the
work Josh. You kicked those
vamps asses.
JOSH
(smug)
I did didn't I?
KIRA
Don't get to big headed boy.
Your no Buffy Summers.
JOSH
They'll be time for that. Just
keep watching.
They reach Kira's house.
KIRA
Well this is my stop.
JOSH
Your parents are going to think
I'm a bad influence on you.
Keeping you out till all hours.
KIRA
Oh they already do.
She smiles.
KIRA
See you tomorrow.
JOSH
Yeah. Bye.
She heads in and Josh walks off.
CUT TO:
INT. JOSH'S NEW BEDROOM - NIGHT
Josh, looking a little tired is getting changed for
bed. There is a KNOCK on his door and Catherine pokes
her head in.
CATHERINE
Hey. You just got in?
JOSH
Yeah. Where's your folks?
CATHERINE
In bed. You'll probably be in
the dog house tomorrow.
JOSH
After the night I've just had.
It's the least of my troubles.
CATHERINE
You want to talk about it?
JOSH
Nah. I'll be fine. Thanks.
CATHERINE
Well okay, I'm off to bed now.
Night.
JOSH
Night Cat.
She leaves closing his door, Josh sits on the end of
the bed.
JOSEPH (O.C.)
Funny how things work out.
Josh stands up, he can't believe what he's just heard.
He turns around and standing by the window is Joseph,
in the robe, his face is still badly burnt.
JOSEPH
Isn't it son.
JOSH
Y-y-you can't be. Your dead.
He moves toward Josh, his face healing, returning his
features to normal. Josh backs away, afraid.
JOSEPH
I'm not here to hurt you.
JOSH
Then why are you here? How are
you here?
JOSEPH
I've been sent back to warn you.
JOSH
Sent back?
Joseph walks THROUGH the bed, his legs turning to faint
mist. They reform when he reaches the other side of the
bed.
Josh stops, frozen in fear.
JOSEPH
I'm a ghost son. I don't quite
understand it myself but here I
am, and all I know is that
something big is coming and it's
coming here, to New York and
your the only one who can stop
it. You need to be ready for it.
JOSH
I don't understand. For what?
Joseph begins to fade, his body turning into mist and
then nothing.
JOSEPH
I don't have all the answers.
But soon, you will know. Be
ready.
He's gone.
JOSEPH (O.C.) (cont'd)
Son.
Josh stands in the middle of his bedroom, alone and
stunned.
CUT TO:
EXT. SPANISH VILLAGE - NIGHT
The village is in the Spanish mountains. Hundreds of
stone, white, buildings make up the village.
EXT. SPANISH STREET - CONTINUOUS
GIRL (O.C.)
Help me!
A young girl in a white dress rounds the corner and
runs up the street. She looks back over her shoulder as
if something/one is chasing her. She stumbles a couple
of times but manages to keep on running.
GIRL (cont'd)
Help! Somebody!
Above her something leaps from rooftop, to rooftop.
She continues running and then turns straight into an
alley.
EXT. ALLEY - CONTINUOUS
The end of the alley is closed off.
GIRL
No!
From behind her she hears GROWLING.
VOICE
(in human)
Why did you run girl. You knew
you couldn't get away from us.
The girl turns, something is blocking the end of the
alley. It hides in the shadow still unseen.
GIRL
(sobbing)
Please. I won't tell anyone
about you. I promise. Your
secret is safe.
VOICE
I think it's too late for that.
Don't you?
She backs away.
GIRL
Please don't kill me.
VOICE
Don't worry. I'm not going to
kill you.
The girl sighs, slightly relieved.
GIRL
Thank you. I promise you--
VOICE
She is.
GROWLING comes from above. The girl looks up:
GIRL'S POV -- Something drops down from the roof fast,
blocking our view.
CUT TO:
EXT. SPANISH VILLAGE - CONTINUOUS
We PULL BACK from the alley, and see the whole village
again.
There is a mix of SCREAMING and the sound of TEARING
FLESH, and then nothing.
BLACK OUT.
