SARAH Original screenplay by Hasan Abood Based upon the 'Sarah Thrillogy' by Hasan Abood CAPTION- 'February 14. Valentine's Day' FADE IN: INT. ROSELLA RESTAURANT- NIGHT The restaurant is packed up with customers, celebrating the holiday— Valentine's day. Close-up of James Riley, a 24 year old man. He is sitting all alone at a table. He is flipping through a newspaper and is sipping from a cup of coffee at the same time. He takes a glance at his watch and stands up, deciding to leave. And he walks over to the waitress, a young blonde, with a shy, baby face. JAMES How much? The waitress smiles for a quick second and hands James his check. A frown appears on his face after looking at the amount of eighty-nine dollars. He reaches into his right pocket... JAMES Oh! Shit! I forgot my damn wallet at home! James bites his lips in frustrations before he places his hands in his left pocket and finds his checkbook. A sigh of relief escapes his lips. He writes a check and walks out of the door. EXT. ROSELLA RESTAURANT'S PARKING LOT- NIGHT James takes his keys out and as he opens the car door, he feels a soft, tingling pat on his shoulder. He gasps and turns his back. A woman with black hair and bright blue eyes is standing with an innocent stare. She has eight pierces, and a stud in her nose. JAMES What do ya want? CLOSE-UP of the WOMAN WOMAN Spare any change? FADE OUT: Heavy breathing is heard. FADE IN: INT. CHURCH- SAME NIGHT Religious music is played. It is dark, but there are candles everywhere. Close-up of a boy, who is frightened and is sweating. Tears fill his eyes. He is breathing heavily. Heavier. Heavier. And heavier. BOY NOOOOO! FADE OUT: VOICE OVER (FEMALE) Thank you! VOICE OVER (MALE) Hey wait! Do—do you want more than what you got? Do you? VOICE OVER (FEMALE) Sure. But, what do I have to do? VOICE OVER (MALE) Get in the car. And, we can talk as we get home. VOICE OVER (FEMALE) I know what you want! VOICE OVER (MALE) I know you do, but hey, it's Valentine's Day! VOICE OVER (FEMALE) Yes, it is! VOICE OVER (MALE) By the way, what's your name? There's a moment of silence. The woman takes a deep breath. VOICE OVER (FEMALE) Sarah. My name is Sarah. VOICE OVER (MALE) Sarah. Now, that's a beautiful name. VOICE OVER (FEMALE) What is your name? VOICE OVER (MALE) It's James. FADE IN: INT. JAMES' APARTMENT- BEDROOM- SAME NIGHT James and Sarah are kissing, as they are standing. James pushes Sarah to the bed. He rips open her shirt. And then her bra. Sarah gets on her knees on the bed and smiles as she slowly unbuttons James' pants. She unzips his pants. James digs his hand in Sarah's underwear and removes it off her creamy, white skin. Sarah pushes James to the bed and gets on top of him. Pleasurable moans escape Sarah's lips. Close-up of the watch on the night table. TICK-TOCK…TICK-TOCK. The clock strikes ten. Close-up of the couple, as they are lying on the bed, with a blanket covering their naked bodies. JAMES How much do you want for spending the night with me? SARAH I don't want any money. Just sleeping with you is all I wanted. JAMES It was fun, eh? A smile appears on James. SARAH Yes, it was! Close-up of Sarah, as she grins. FADE OUT: Heavy breathing is heard. FADE IN: INT. CHURCH- SAME NIGHT The frightened boy takes a deep breath and looks at the camera. BOY Father? VOICE (OFF-SCREEN) Yes? The boy's breathing has gotten heavier and heavier. BOY I'm scared! VOICE (OFF-SCREEN) What's wrong? What are you afraid of? BOY I—I SAW HER! FADE OUT: VOICE OVER (FEMALE) I want to take a shower, James. Do you mind? VOICE OVER (MALE) No, not at all, babe. VOICE OVER (FEMALE) Thanks! INT. JAMES' APARTMENT- BATHROOM- SAME NIGHT Sarah, naked, opens the curtains of the bathtub and turns on the hot water. She waits until tub is filled with hot, blistering water. She places her little finger in there and feels the hotness. She slowly steps in and moans softly. A figure enters the bathroom. It slowly approaches Sarah. The figure opens the bath curtain. Sarah lets out a high-pitched scream. SARAH Err…you SCARED the shit outta me! JAMES Can I join you? Sarah smiles and nods her head. James steps out of his boxer and climbs into the tub. JAMES The water! It's too hot! SARAH I know. But, I don't like cold water. I only like the water hot. Burning hot. James kisses Sarah's lips passionately. JAMES You're gorgeous, babe! Sarah places her hands on James' back, and hugs him tightly. SARAH I love you! JAMES I love you, too! James glances at Sarah and lets out a high-pitched gasp! JAMES What…the…fuck? Sarah, your—your body is melting. Sarah grins and whispers softly, SARAH I know. And so will yours. James closes his eyes and says to himself: I'm imagining. I'm just imagining. This is my hallucination. It's not real. It's not real. He opens his eyes and shrieks at the top of his lungs as he watches his own body melt into pure liquid. Close-up of the tub. Empty. FADE OUT: VOICE OVER (BOY) I saw her, Father! VOICE OVER (MAN) Who did you see, son? Who? The boy is breathing heavily. VOICE OVER (BOY) Father? VOICE OVER (MAN) Yes, son. VOICE OVER (BOY) Do you believe in ghosts? FADE IN: SETTING- A DARK, ISOLATED PLACE. EMPTY. Close-up of James' eyes as they are slowly opened. He stands up and glances around. Beside him, Sarah is standing. On her face, a grin appears. JAMES Where are we? SARAH From now on, you are going to be MINE! Just MINE! And I'm going to be YOURS. Just YOURS! JAMES Where are we? Close-up of Sarah, grinning evilly. SARAH James, welcome to the Dead World! FADE OUT: FADE IN: INT. THE RILEY'S HOUSE-LIVING ROOM- MIDNIGHT Placing the receiver close to his ears, Mr. Riley dials James' phone number for the sixth time. He waits for his son to answer the phone, but there's no reply. Sitting beside Mr. Riley, Mrs. Riley is worried. MRS.RILEY I'm really worried, John! MR.RILEY I'm as WORRIED as you are, Sandy! MRS.RILEY Call the police! It doesn't take long until the police arrive at the Riley's house. The Rileys and the police officers are in the living room. MR.RILEY Where is my son, officer? POLICE OFFICER Did he tell you that he was going out somewhere? MR.RILEY No. He didn't. I know my son too well, officer. He would tell his mother or I if he was leaving town or something? A cell phone of one of the officers rings. He answers it quickly. The officer hangs up after he finishes talking. POLICE OFFICER They looked everywhere, but unfortunately, they couldn't get a trace of him. We are so sorry. I think he left town and forgot to tell you both. Mrs. Riley gasps. Tears fill her eyes and roll down her cheeks. POLICE OFFICER James is an adult, Mrs. Riley. Don't worry; hopefully, we will get a trace of him. Mr. Riley and the police officers make their way downstairs. MR. RILEY Please find my son, officers. POLICE OFFICER We will try our best sir. After the police officers leave, Mr. Riley shuts the door. MR. RILEY Where are you, son? Where are you? FADE OUT: FADE IN SETTING- A DARK, ISOLATED PLACE. EMPTY. Close-up of James. Tears fill his eyes as he whispers, JAMES I wish I could see my parents again. Sarah, naked, slowly walks up to James and gives him a kiss. James push her away. SARAH What the hell is wrong with you? James stare at Sarah with angry eyes. JAMES You bring me to your world, and you ask me what's wrong with me! You bitch, you have to take me back. You just have to. Sarah giggles, making James angrier. SARAH You just don't understand… JAMES Understand WHAT? SARAH Honey, you're already dead just like me. If you go back, you will be someone else, not James. JAMES I don't understand. What do you mean? Sarah takes a deep breath… SARAH This is your world now, James. If you want to go back to the living world, you can, but your parents and your friends won't recognize you because your spirit will be in another body. So, you and I will live in this world until Judgment Day arrives. James is shocked. His eyes are filled with anger. SARAH You're not like the other men that I brought into this world. They were glad that I opened the doors to a better place than Earth. Most of them were loners. They pretty much didn't have a life. I made their lives better. Much better. But, I let them go and went back to Earth to find another man. I started searching, and then I found YOU. I know you're wondering right now why I chose you. Well, I chose you because you're handsome and you're a loner. James is listening silently to Sarah's explanation. SARAH Yes, you are a loner, James. You only had two or three friends. That was all. I just don't understand why such a cute man like you didn't have luck with Earthly girls? Why didn't you have a girlfriend? James takes a deep breath. JAMES I don't know. I guess I didn't find the woman that deserved to marry me. SARAH And you expect me to believe that bullshit? JAMES How did you die? SARAH Why are you trying to change the subject? JAMES How the hell did you DIE? SARAH If that's the way you want it, then I'll play the game. I died in a car accident, James. Close-up of Sarah, with a sad expression on her face. FADE OUT: FADE IN: A flashback; Sarah is walking on the sidewalk. She stops and as she walks to the other side, a car, driving in a fast speed, crashes into Sarah. Close-up of the blood on the shattered car window. FADE OUT: VOICE OVER (FEMALE) People thought I was dead, but I wasn't. I was stuck between the world of life and death. FADE IN: SETTING- A DARK, ISOLATED PLACE. EMPTY. There is a moment of silence, and Sarah breaks the silence. SARAH Baby, I will be your girlfriend. I will be your wife, your mom, your dad, your everything. JAMES No, Sarah, you're not my mom or my dad. My parents are alive on Earth, and I'm going to see them soon whether you like it or not. SARAH Oh! Is that so? Sarah vanishes. JAMES WHERE DID YOU GO? SARAH? WHERE THE HELL DID YOU GO? INT. THE RILEYS Home-LIVING ROOM Mr. and Mrs. Riley are sitting on the couch, watching television, and hoping to get an answer from the police about James. The doorbell rings; Mr. Riley stands up and goes to answer the door. MR. RILEY Can I help you? These are Mr. Riley's final words. He doesn't see the sharp weapon that stabbed him in the gut. Mrs. Riley walks toward the door. MRS. RILEY Who is it, dear? When Mrs. Riley glances at her husband's bloody body, she screams at the top of her lings. A woman is standing beside her. She is wearing a hood on her head. Mrs. Riley runs away, but she falls on the floor. MRS. RILEY HELP! HELP! WOULD SOMEONE HELP ME? The woman places her hands on Mrs. Riley's esophagus and twists it. FADE OUT: FADE IN: SETTING- A DARK, ISOLATED PLACE. EMPTY. Sarah reappears again. SARAH Hi, baby. JAMES Where the hell were you? Sarah takes a deep breath… SARAH You can't do anything now, James. Your parents are dead. You will never see them. But after Judgment Day, you might be with them. If you were good when you lived on Earth, then you might go to Heaven. If you were bad, then you might go to Hell. Tears fill James' eyes and roll down his cheeks. An angry expression breaks upon his face. JAMES I know where YOU are going…HELL 'cause you're a cold-blooded killer. SARAH I know that I'm going to go to Hell. But for now, I'm with you. So, let's enjoy our time before it runs out. JAMES I hate you! I hate you, bitch! SARAH Make love to me, James. JAMES You don't deserve to be made love to. Sarah kisses James' lips softly. And then she rips his shirt open. SARAH Now, do you want to do it? James wipe the tears off his eyes, nods his head, and kisses Sarah's rosy lips. Sarah kneels down and unzips James' pants. And then Sarah is on top of James. Pleasurable moans are heard. FADE OUT: FADE IN: INT. CHURCH- SAME NIGHT The frightened boy takes a deep breath and looks at the camera. BOY Father? VOICE (OFF-SCREEN) Yes? The boy's breathing has gotten heavier and heavier. BOY I'm scared! VOICE (OFF-SCREEN) What's wrong? What are you afraid of? BOY I—I SAW HER! VOICE (OFF-SCREEN) Who? BOY My dead sister…Sarah! No. She isn't dead. I see her a lot. She talks to me, Father. She tells me things. Sometimes, scary things. I DON'T WANT TO SEE HER ANYMORE! I HATE HER! SHE SCARES ME. DON'T LET HER COME AND GET ME, FATHER. SHE WANTS ME DEAD. SHE'S MY NIGHTMARE...NOOOOOOO! The boy screams at the top of his lungs. VOICE (OFF-SCREEN) Calm down, son. BOY NO! I WON'T CALM DOWN, FATHER. The other night, she wanted to kill me. She wanted me dead, father. VOICE (OFF-SCREEN) What are you talkin about? All of a sudden, the boy finds himself in a mental asylum. A frightened expressions break upon his face. BOY WHERE AM I? GET ME OUT OF HERE. PLEASE! SHE'S GONNA GET ME...SARAH IS GOING TO KILL ME. NOOOO! FADE OUT: A bloodcurdling scream is heard offscreen. FADE IN: INT. JAMES' APARTMENT- BEDROOM- MORNING Slowly opening his eyes, James yawns as he looks around. He sits up and gasps. JAMES Where am I? Beside him, there lies a black-haired woman, who opens her eyes and smiles at James. JAMES SARAH? SARAH Good morning, James! JAMES Where are we? Sarah laughs softly. SARAH We are home, husband! JAMES What the hell? You're not my wife! Sarah sits up and looks at James. SARAH Is something wrong, James? Are you okay? James slaps Sarah. JAMES You're a psycho bitch… You first melt my body, and you take me to the dead world. Then you kill my mom and dad. Sarah gasps. SARAH James, I think you've gone crazy. James slaps her again and then punches on her stomach. Sarah yells at the top of her lungs. SARAH I did not kill your parents, James. Your parents died in a car accident. And you know it. Maybe, you were dreaming that I killed them. JAMES Don't lie to me, Sarah. Don't lie. I never married you. Why are you saying that we are married? Sarah points at the wedding ring on her finger. James looks at his hand. There is a ring on one of his fingers. JAMES Damn you! Tears fill Sarah's eyes. SARAH Calm down, baby. JAMES (Shouts) Don't tell me to calm down. James punches Sarah powerfully on her stomach and on her face. He walks out of the bedroom, and heads to the kitchen. Grabbing a razor-sharp knife from one of the drawers, he walks back to the bedroom. Sarah is lying down on the bed. There are drops of blood on her face and shirt. James takes a deep breath, raises the knife and stabs Sarah to death. INT. NEIGHBOUR' APARTMENT- LIVINGROOM- MORNING Looking through the window, Sandra Wayne is shocked to see her neighbor hovering over a lifeless body, knife in hand. She grabs a cordless phone, dials 9-1-1 and waits for an answer. A male operator answers the phone… MALE OPERATOR Police, fire, or emergency. SANDRA Police! My neighbor is stabbing someone. I think he is stabbing his wife, Sarah. MALE OPERATOR What's the address, ma'am? Close-up of Sandra, with a shocked expression on her face. FADE OUT: FADE IN: INT. JAMES' APARTMENT- BEDROOM- SAME MORNING James wipes the blood off the knife and throws the sharp object in the sink. He covers the body of Sarah with as many blankets as he could find. JAMES I hope you go to HELL, psycho bitch! Soon, the police arrive at James' apartment. They break in the house. POLICE OFFICERS POLICE! James tries to run away, but two police officers catch him. The body of Sarah is found in the bedroom. James is arrested. INT. PRISON CELL Sitting down on the bed in his private prison cell, James is blaming himself for committing the terrible crime. JAMES Why? Why did you kill your wife? Why did you take the life of the woman that you loved? She did not kill your parents. She was innocent. It was the horrible nightmare that made you think that Sarah was the one who melted you and took you to the dead world. Now, you can't change the past, James. But hopefully, she will forgive you. VOICE (OFF-SCREEN) I will never forgive you. JAMES Who said that? VOICE (OFF-SCREEN) I did. JAMES Who are you? VOICE (OFF-SCREEN) It's me…Sarah! James gasps and looks around. But, he doesn't see anything. JAMES You're not Sarah. This is my imagination. I'm imagining things just like before. Sarah appears in front of James. SARAH Are you really imagining, James? James lets out a bloodcurdling scream. The prison guard hurriedly opens the lock and enters the cell. PRISON GUARD What's going on? James gasps and takes a long, heavy breath. JAMES Nothing is going on. I was just having a bad dream. The guard nods and walks out. James lies down on the bed and shuts his eyes. VOICE (OFF-SCREEN) James…James…darling…James. James reopens his eyes and glances around. VOICE (OFF-SCREEN) Are you recognizing my voice, love? It's me…Sarah. JAMES BULLSHIT! VOICE (OFF-SCREEN) Do you love, James? Do you want me? James gasps as he feels a soft pat on his shoulder. Turning his back quickly, he lets out a shriek when he catches the sight of Sarah. A grin appears on her face as she places her hands on James' head. He shuts his eyes and blacks out. FADE OUT: VOICE OVER (FEMALE) Don't worry, James. Don't worry. INT. The cemetery- Night The sun vanishes, and the sky darkens. James is walking through the tombstones in the cemetery. He stops in front of a mysterious gravestone. The name 'Sarah' is inscribed in blood on it. VOICE (OFF-SCREEN) I'm going to forgive you, James, for savagely murdering me. Do you know why? It's because you're going to regret stabbing me to death. JAMES What do you mean? FADE OUT: INT. JAMES' APARTMENT- BEDROOM- NIGHT James opens his eyes and gasps. He is lying on the bed with a woman, whose hair color is ebony and eyes are blue. JAMES Who are you? The woman smiles. SARAH What a silly question, James. Don't you know who I am? I'm Sarah. James shakes his head. SARAH I want to take a shower, James. Do you mind? JAMES NO! INT. Do you really want to know? I'll tell you. I want to stab you to death with it. I want to end my nightmare. SARAH What nightmare? What's wrong with you? JAMES You're my goddamn nightmare! SARAH You're crazy, James. You're psycho! JAMES Goodbye, Sarah! Without a warning, James jams the knife into her chest. Blood rushes out, filling the bathtub. The door creaks open. James gasps and turns his back. Sarah opens her eyes wide and grabs his throat. FADE OUT: SETTING- A DARK, ISOLATED PLACE. EMPTY. James opens his eyes. He catches the sight of Sarah, standing in front of him, and a frightened expression breaks upon his face. JAMES It's you! I thought you were dead. Sarah shakes her head. SARAH You're back, James, to the Dead world. JAMES I can't believe it! Let me go. I beg you for my freedom. SARAH Yes, James, I murdered your parents. They didn't die in a car accident. We never married. But, you must always know that I love you and always will. You're the first man that I fell in love with. Even though I brought many handsome men to this world, but you were the only one who I loved. JAMES Why me of all men in the world? SARAH Everything about you, James, is attractive. The first time you saw me, you thought I was attractive and you wanted to spend a one-night-stand with me. But, I wanted to be with you forever. JAMES That's right, Sarah. I just wanted your love for one night, not forever. SARAH So, do you love me, James? JAMES I loved you, Sarah, but not anymore. I've had enough of your love. This is not love. This is torture. I want to return to my world. Tears fill Sarah's eyes. SARAH I hate loneliness. I want your love, James. Why do you have such a cruel heart? JAMES Find another man who you can call 'love', Sarah! SARAH I don't want to let you go, James. I can't give up on you. Sarah starts breathing heavily. SARAH Kiss me, James. Kiss me passionately. As their lips lock into a kiss, tears stream down from Sarah's eyes. SARAH Let's make love, James! James pushes her away. JAMES NO! SARAH Goodbye, James! You will always be my first and last love. James shuts his eyes as Sarah places her hands on his head. SARAH Goodbye! FADE OUT: FADE IN: James open his eyes and finds himself back in the prison cell. In front of him, Sarah stands with a smile on her face. SARAH Remember me, always, James! Sarah walks away and vanishes through the wall. JAMES I'm innocent! Do you hear me? I'm innocent. I should be let out of this goddamn prison. The prison guard opens the lock and enters the cell. PRISON GUARD What's going on? JAMES I'm innocent! The guard chuckles. PRISON GUARD And what do you want me to do? Let you out of the cell? JAMES I'm innocent. I swear I am. PRISON GUARD You murdered your wife, and you're being punished for the murder. JAMES Sarah is not my wife. She never was. She is my worst nightmare. The guard shakes his head and walks out. James lies down on the bed and shuts his eyes. FADE OUT: VOICE OVER (FEMALE) Judgment Day… Judgment Day… Judgment Day… If you were good when you lived on Earth, then you might go to Heaven. If you were bad, then you might go to Hell. FADE IN: When James wakes up, his eyesight is blurry. The only thing that he sees is a sharp butcher knife. JAMES What's going on? James rubs his eyes and lets out a high-pitched gasp. He stares in horror at the figure in front of him. JAMES NO!!! James lets out a cry of pain as the knife is shoved into him. He struggles and then shuts his eyes. FADE OUT: VOICE OVER (FEMALE) I have returned for you, James. I realized that I have to spend the last few years with you before Judgement Day. Yes, James, Judgement Day is arriving soon. Who knows? Maybe, we'll meet in Hell! FADE IN: SETTING- A DARK, ISOLATED PLACE. EMPTY. Opening his eyes slowly, James glances around. Sarah walks up to him and grins. SARAH Hello, my James! James blinks his eyes and sighs. JAMES When is Judgment Day going to arrive? SARAH Soon, love, very soon. Sooner than you think. JAMES Why did you bring me here again? SARAH Tell me, James, would you rather spend the last days of your life in Jail or with me? JAMES You didn't answer my question: Why did you bring me here again, Sarah? SARAH I can't live without you, honey. I have to spend the final days of my life with you. JAMES But, you're not real. You're just an imagination. SARAH Are you sure, James? Am I really an imagination? So, tell me, who murdered your parents? Who, James? JAMES You did, Sarah… But, to me, you're just a fantasy figure. You're nothing but a nightmare! FADE OUT: FADE IN: INT. PRISON CELL The prison guard opens the lock and enters James' cell. His eyes widen in horror. PRISON GUARD Where did he go? I better report this! FADE OUT: FADE IN: SETTING- A DARK, ISOLATED PLACE. EMPTY. SARAH Make love to me, James! Please! This might be the last time we'll ever make love to each other. JAMES I don't want to, Sarah. I'm sick of you. Do you hear me? I can't stand you anymore. I wish you would disappear from my life. SARAH We we're meant for each other, honey! JAMES Bullshit! SARAH You're stuck here with me, James. So, what would you rather do? Would you rather cry for freedom, which won't happen, or make love to me? What do you choose? James takes a deep breath. JAMES Fine, Sarah! I'll grant your wish and make love to you. Sarah smiles as she presses her lips tightly against James'. She unbuttons James' pants and removes it from his body. Sarah wraps her legs around James. Pleasurable moans are heard. After the lovemaking, Sarah and James are lying beside each other. JAMES You know, Sarah, I've been wondering what is the Judgment Day going to be like. SARAH Like I said, on that day, the good people will go to Heaven, and the bad people will go to Hell. JAMES I hope that I will be granted the ticket to Heaven. SARAH Don't say that! I want us to be together even after Judgment Day. JAMES You know where you're going to…HELL! Tears fill Sarah's eyes. SARAH I can't believe it! Soon, we're going to be separated from each other. I wish I could be with you forever, James. Sarah wipes the tears off her eyes. SARAH Do you love me, James? JAMES What? SARAH Do you love me? JAMES When I met you the first time, I loved you, Sarah. Love at first sight! But, after experiencing the other side of you, my love for you vanished. SARAH I'll always love you, no matter what. You'll always be my James! There's a moment of silence. Sarah stares above her and sees the blistering flames of Hell. James stares above him and sees the place where God lives and the future home of His followers. He sees Heaven. They breathe heavily as they kept staring above them. FADE OUT: FADE IN: INT. Mental Asylum- Night The boy is sitting on his bed. He is staring at the ceiling with a frightened expression on his face. BOY It's coming…Judgment Day! FADE OUT: CAPTION- 'Judgment Day. Arrived.'
