Words on the screen fade in to let us know that it is 1996.
A women, the ex-adult film star Traci Lords, is getting make-up
applied to her face. A TV interviewer, around 40 years of age,
smartly dressed, adjusts his microphone. He talks into it, taps
it.
INTERVIEWER
How long have we got?
FLOOR MANAGER(V.O)
Twenty seconds.
The interviewer gets ready to continue his chat show. Off screen
we hear the floor manager count down from ten to six. Traci
makes herself comfortable as the make-up girl finishes off. She
breaks away as we hear the countdown. The floor manager's hand
comes into shot. It gives us a silent fingered countdown.
FLOOR MANAGER
Five-four-three-two-one.
INTERVIEWER
Welcome back. Tonight, Traci Lords.
We're talking with her about her life
and future. Before the break, we were
discussing what it is you're up to
right now. But like myself and many
people watching who
don't know, I'd just like to go back
to how you became the person we know
today.
TRACI
Where would you like me to start?
INTERVIEWER
Wherever feels best for you.
TRACI
I guess my most earliest, vivid
recollection, is when my dad finally
hit my mom. This was the time my mom
knew that she had to take us away and
basically, get the hell outta' there.
INTERVIEWER
An abusive alcoholic?
TRACI
For sure.
INTERVIEWER
And you would be.. how old at this
time?
TRACI
Twelve. Twelve years old.
We see the camera slowly zoom in as she says this. The screen
goes black.
MAIN TITLES - NAKED: THE TRACI LORDS STORY
FADE IN:
TITLE ON SCREEN - STEUBENVILLE, OHIO, 1980
The camera zooms slowly up a garden path, taking us to the front
of a house. The house itself looks very disheveled and in need
of work. Behind the door, we hear sounds of an argument between
a man and a women. We drift in thru the door. The camera then
leads us to where the sound is.
INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY
A man and women are in mid argument. He is of medium build,
wearing a white vest and jeans. The women is wearing a shirt and
ripped Denims. As they continue arguing, a little girl stands
there balling her eyes out. Three other girls sit on the stairs
watching. The girl is twelve years old. The young Nora Kuzma.
MOM
You should hear yourself, you're like
a fuckin' joke only you get.
DAD
She's gonna grow up just like her
lyin' bitch mom.
MOM
Why don't you just admit it. Then we
can try to get you some help, you
fuckin' bastard.
The dad grabs the little girl by the arm, pulling her close to
him. He takes a hold of her head.
DAD
Look at mommy, tell her I didn't touch
you. Tell her, you little bitch!
MOM
Stop it! You're hurtin' her.
DAD
What's the fuckin' point. You wanna'
end up a bitch loser like your mom, go
right ahead.
Her farther picks up a beer bottle that sits on top of a TV,
walks over to the back door and kicks it opens. The mother has
her daughters around her as she kneels on the floor.
FADE TO BLACK:
INT. BEDROOM - NIGHT
We are in a typical looking girls bedroom. It is decorated as
best it can be. The little girl is woken up.
(As to not cause confusion, Traci will now be called by her
original birth name until she herself changes it)
INT. BEDROOMS - NIGHT
Nora and her other sisters are all woken up. Her mom moving from
each bedroom.
We see her taking out clothes from their wardrobes.
We see her getting things from the bathroom.
We see half tired, half scared girls of mixed teen ages make
there way slowly down stairs that lead into the living room.
INT. LIVING ROOM AREA - NIGHT
We see the four girls huddled together at the bottom of the
stairs. Nora's mom stands there looking at her husband who has
passed out on a chair. Beer cans and bottles lay around him. She
looks around, then back at him.
Staring at him until she's had enough. She shakes her head. She
picks up a case, the girls do the same. They exit the house
quietly.
FADE TO BLACK:
TITLE CARD - REDONDO BEACH, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, 1980
INT. APARTMENT - DAY
It is a busy morning. Nora and two of her sisters are getting
ready. They are all kinda' in a hurry, as they take a slice of
toast each. Breakfast bowls and orange juice can be seen on a
table. They each give their mom a kiss as they exit the
apartment.
MOM
You got everything? You girls be
careful now.
NORA
Bye, Momma.
Nora's mom gives her a hug, watching thru the kitchen window as
she exits the apartment.
EXT. DRIVEWAY - DAY
A car, blue in color, with it's doors open, is the transport of
choice for the girls. A women in her mid 30s guides the girls
into the back. She waves at the mother. We see a shot of her
waving back. The doors close and the car drives off.
CUT TO:
EXT. SCHOOL - DAY
The car pulls up outside the local school. The girls get out,
and are greeted by two other girls. One girl holds the hand of
Nora. The girls enter the school as we hear the bell.
FADE TO BLACK:
TITLE CARD - TWO YEARS LATER
EXT. FRONT OF SCHOOL - DAY
Nora, now a few years older, talks with her friend, Tracy. Both
girls are wearing colored blouses and jeans. It is a hot day.
TRACY
You still don't feel so good, huh?
She looks as if about to throw up
NORA
I've felt better.
Traci takes a hold of Nora's arm. And not taking no for an
answer takes her to the front of the school steps.
NORA
I know you're right.
TRACY
You bet. She's there to help.
NORA
I don't want anyone touchin' me!
TRACY
Do it for me, huh, please?
NORA
You come with me?
TRACY
No problem.
CUT TO:
INT. OFFICE - DAY
We are in inside the office of the school nurse. Nora steps off
a set of scales. A glass tube she had in her mouth to take her
temperature is taken out of her mouth.
NURSE
How are you feeling now?
NORA
Better.
NURSE
What I think it is cannot be said to
you without a parent being here. Will
your mom be home now, Nora?
NORA
(Unsure)
I think so.
The nurse closes a file she had open, gets up and walks thru a
door. She closes the door behind her.
INT. OFFICE - DAY
Nora's friend, Tracy, sits on a chair looking at a secretary
typing away. The camera pans away slowly as Tracy gets up,
looks thru a window into the office where Nora is. The nurse
and her continue to talk. We don't hear them. (music score
here) The camera pans in thru the window. We see Nora with
her head bowed as she sits in a chair.
NURSE
I think it would be best if you were to go now.
TRACY
What's wrong?
NURSE
That is something only Nora can share
with her parents at this time. She
will be informed that you have gone.
TRACY
Ok. Thank you.
Tracy gets up, looks thru a window at Nora, waves.
FADE TO BLACK:
INT. APARTMENT - NIGHT
We see Nora standing there in the middle of the living room.
Suddenly there is a slap to her face. She rases her head.
Another slap strikes her face. The camera pulls back as we see
her Mother in tears.
MOM
Stupid!. Why? Ain't we got enough
troubles!?
Nora looks up with tears in her eyes. Her mom pulls her close.
MOM
We're gonna' get thru this. We'll find
a way.
NORA
Sorry I let you down.
MOM
Not your fault. I know who's it is.
NORA
You promised, you said!
MOM
You ring him, get him over here.
NORA
But, Momma.
MOM
Now, Nora. Don't worry.
Nora wipes her face, picks up the phone, dials, waits, then
speaks. As she speaks the screen slowly fades to black.
FADE TO BLACK:
INT. TV STUDIO - NIGHT
We are back in the TV studio interview, as the interviewer
continues his chat show.
INTERVIEWER
This was around the time your
boyfriend was putting pressure on you
to marry him. He was a little older
wasn't he?
TRACI
A few years, yes. I felt I was a
little young to be tied down into
marrying a guy I only knew a few
months.
INTERVIEWER
Did you love him?
TRACI
Sure. Well, I thought I did. I guess
it all got to me.
INTERVIEWER
This is when you decided to run?
She picks up a glass of water from the table, takes a sip, puts
it down.
TRACI
Yes.
INTERVIEWER
And with the help of a fake I.D,
something that is so representative of
your past, you took a bus to
California?
TRACI
(smiles)
Yep.
INTERVIEWER
And then so began, the beginning of
the end?
TRACI
And then some.
Slow camera zoom up to Tracy's eyes. As we see her close up,
the camera pans slowly away from her as we are now taken to the
next part of her life.
TITLE CARD - LOS ANGELES, 1983
INT. BAR - DAY
We see Nora, wearing a T-shirt, jeans and an apron, picking up
glasses and wiping tables at a bar. The bar has a few people
scattered about the place. There is a small stage. A girl is
finishing off a dance routine. She finishes and walks off and
thru a doorway. The few patrons that are in there, mostly male,
give a clap. Nora walks thru a doorway and into a dressing room.
The camera follows her.
INT. DRESSING ROOM - DAY
The young stripper sits in a chair looking into her mirror.
There are a few girls inside the room. They each have average
looks. Nora enters.
NORA
Anymore for anymore?
STRIPPER
No thank you, babe. Just don't let him

The girls laugh. One of the strippers speaks -

A girl gets up an exits the room. Music can be heard as she
exits.

Nora looks at her and smiles. Exits the room.

INT. TV STUDIO - NIGHT
We continue our interview.
INTERVIEWER
He was twenty five years your senior,
right?
TRACI
Yeah, at that time I knew no
different. Looking back I guess I now
know the pitfall in which I fell into.
INTERVIEWER
You did however move in with him?
TONY
I did. He was kind, generous.
INTERVIEWER
I see. Plus, he helped you get your
first modelling job?
Traci nods her head.
CUT TO :
EXT. L.A BEACH - DAY
Nora and a friend are laying out on towels catching the sun. As
they tan, a man in his 40s, medium build, white jacket, suit
trousers, walks towards the young girls.
THE GUY
I saw you from over there an.. just
had to take a closer look.
The two girls sit up, looking at the guy.
NORA
Which one of us? Me or Lucy?
Lucy is of similar looks, maybe a few years older.
THE GUY
You. (smiles)
We see the camera move slowly away from them as they continue to
talk. Nora's friend Lucy is not part of their conversation.
(music score here) We slowly fade to black.
FADE TO BLACK:
INT. TV STUDIO - DAY
TRACI
Wasn't long before I'd moved out of a
flat I was in, and into his place.
INTERVIEWER
And your first job?
TRACI
Yeah, the Jim South Model Agency.
TITLE CARD - VAN NUYS BOULEVARD, SHERMAN OAKS, 1983
INT. OFFICE - DAY
We are in the offices of the Jim South Model Agency. South is of
medium build. He sits behind a desk. As we cut to this scene,
South and that of Nora's older partner, are in mid conversation.
SOUTH
You are indeed pretty. Go thru into
the back there and take your clothes
off for me. Let's get a better look at
what we're dealin' with here.
As she walks thru a curtain and into a small cubical, the two
guys chat. South is impressed by how many Porn Stars this guy

Nora. We see the backs of the sound guy, cameraman and
Director. Getting themselves ready for action. Nora is now
joined by a young naked guy in his late 20s.

INT. INTERVIEW ROLL - DAY
As the film continues, we cut into these interview rolls from
time to time. A selection of people ranging from porn stars
to film makers associated in Traci's life.
Giving their frank opinions on her. We never see or hear them
being asked a question, but we hear their answers.

It's something that I cannot give
an answer to. Y'know, I've blocked
it out so much now, that part of my
life. Certain things can trigger
off a reminder here or there, but
just so much I've blocked out.

I understand. Looking back, do you,

Everyone's used at some point in
their life aren't they? The way I
see it, sex isn't bad, people are.

I knew taking a shower after
shooting the final shot.

created. Somehow knowing, I need to

but your timing in deciding to

doors of the car open. They get out, close doors and quietly
walk up to the front entrance. Two men enter the building,
two stay outside. One of the guys stands in front of the
doorway. The camera zooms in on his I.D badge. The letters

EXT. HOME/GARDEN - DAY
A lavish party is being held in the garden of porn actress
Ginger Lynne. Famous faces from the world of adult film can
be seen. The party is in full swing. Bikini clad women
surround guys in the pool, as various people eat and drink.
As they all continue to have fun, the camera pulls back to
reveal a part of the lawn that is not occupied. It is soon
filled by six guys. They surround the party. Screams can be
heard. The music that was playing is suddenly cut off. The
camera zooms in on the back of one of the guys blue coat. The
letters F.B.I are clearly seen in yellow.
CUT TO:
EXT. STEPS - DAY
Ginger Lynne is escorted by the F.B.I guys down a set
of steps that lead up to her house.
The party people stand there looking vacant as the back door
of a parked up car is opened.

You'd know all about that.
She is put into the back of the car. The door is closed.

I take it you were the last?

shopping. Still hadn't emptied all

Then came the knock?

We are in the home of Traci, as many assorted fashion brand
bags are scattered around the living room. Traci can be seen
taking a blouse out of one of the bags and putting it close
to her chest. Walks over to a mirror, looks at her reflection
and smiles.
TRACI
(to herself)
Pretty cool, miss Kuzma.
The doorbell is rang.
Traci makes her way casually across the living room and into
a hallway.
INT. HALLWAY - DAY
We see the back of Traci as she gets to the door and opens
it. As she opens it, it reveals several men standing there.
These men are smartly dressed. They each wear name tags. We
see a close up of Traci's eyes as they look down to read. The
camera zooms in on an I.D badge of one of the guys. The
letters F.B.I are shown big on the screen as we see a shot of
Traci's eyes as they widen. One of the guys speaks.

The screen slowly fades to black.

We see a close up slow motion shot of a hammer hitting it's
wooden base. The kind of hammer used by a court judge. We
hear the echoing noise as it hits the target. We then fade
into a montage of similar scenes. Each scene is shot in slow
motion. They fade in and fade out.
We see Ginger Lynne sitting in a cell as the doors are
closed.
We see boxes of video cassettes being put in the back of a
van.
We see people being put into the backs of cars.
We see two men standing in a court house with their backs to
us as they wait for what looks like a summing up from the
judge.

Y'know, I had a sort of feeling. Of
course it was a total shock. Lots
of people I'd worked with
were pulled in that very hot
Saturday.
INTERVIEWER
Among many, Jim South?
TRACI
Yeah, he seemed to have a sort of
knack for finding young girls.
INTERVIEWER
And your friend, Ginger Lynne?
TRACI
Yeah, we never spoke too much after
that. I guess overall, I pissed
quite a few people off.
INTERVIEWER
(looks at his clipboard)
Jim south got off without going to
jail..
Traci shakes her head
TRACI
Typical.
INTERVIEWER
However, film maker, Rubin
Gottesman received a one-year
sentence?
TRACI
So I heard.
INTERVIEWER
It is said that you spent a fortune
on legal fees, but you were never
charged?
TRACI
Yeah, that's true. The only people
who made good out of this whole
sorry mess were the lawyers.
INTERVIEWER
It's also on record that you once
said, I've never even seen a porno.
The thought of seeing any of my own
is just horrible?
She smiles at the interviewer.
TRACI
All I know is that I never saw any
of the films after completion.
Looking back it's hard to remember
myself making any of them at all. I
was drinking and addicted to many
drugs. Luckily I snapped out of it.
CUT TO:
INT. OFFICE - DAY
We are in the office of the Jim South Model Agency.
Jim sits and talks about Traci.
JIM SOUTH
Is that what she's claiming now?
That's an absolute lie. I never saw
the girl take drugs. I would've had
complaints.
We jump straight into another interview roll -
INT. OFFICE - DAY
Film maker Bill Margold talks frankly on his feelings about
Traci.
MARGOLD
Someday, Traci will wind up the
cornerstone of a bank building. I
will not be unhappy when Traci gets
knocked off. When you create a sea
of lies, you drown in your own
lies. The people she's hurt do not
forget.
We jump again to the next interview roll -
We are in the home of former porn actress Ginger Lynne.
CUT TO:
INT. HOME/INTERVIEW - DAY
GINGER LYNNE
In 1986, a couple of nice people
from the FBI knocked on my door,
and politely asked me to testify on
behalf of an actress who was
allegedly underage, (let's call her
Stacey Fords), and against
producers in the adult film
industry. I refused. They said "if
you don't testify we will make your
life very difficult." I testified,
but I had difficulty remembering
anyone's name. Oops! Shortly after
that day the two nice people came
back to my home and read me my
rights, stating that I was under
federal investigation for tax
evasion. Those charges were dropped
and new ones took their place.
Another nice man from the FBI was
then paid to watch my movies, look
at my nude photos and who knows
what else for five years to find
out exactly what I may have done
wrong. A trial took place. I was
facing six years in prison for
'willfully subscribing to file a
false tax return' in the amount of
$2,078.00. I lost, not only the
case, but my home as well, and four
and a half months of my life that
were spent in prison. I spent
almost $400,000 to defend myself
from charges arising from Traci's
under-age status. I spent 17 days
in federal prison, 30 days in drug
rehab, and three months in a
halfway house all directly related
to the Traci Lords case.
We cut to the final interview roll -

INT. OFFICE/INTERVIEW - DAY
IRA REINER
She may well be a hard professional
now, but she was 15...when the
pornographic film industry got a
hold of her. The thrust of our
investigation is directed towards
the industry that exploited her.
CUT TO:
INT. TV STUDIO - NIGHT
We are back in the TV interview.
INTERVIEWER
Any final words on the whole
outcome of that scandal?
She puts her cigarette down, looks into the eyes of the
interviewer.
TRACI
I'm older an a little wiser now. At
that time I guess I went into it
thinking, If you're sexy, everybody
will love you. That's what I wanted
- for everyone to love me.
The interviewer smiles.
INTERVIEWER
Thank you for sharing your honesty.
TRACI
You're welcome
There's a moment of silence. Traci puts out her cigarette
and takes a sip of her water, then puts it down. The
interviewer takes some pages off his clip board and places
them down by his side. He then continues.
INTERVIEWER
You pretty much went out of the
spotlight for a few years until
your return in 1988 with the Roger
Corman sci-fi picture, "Not Of This
Earth"?
TRACI
That was a great film to be
involved in. Didn't do so well,
sorry to say.
INTERVIEWER
In the film, you did two nude
scenes?
TRACI
Yeah, I got offered film after
film. They all had a part for me,
as long as it involved taking my
clothes off.
INTERVIEW
You certainly stuck to your word.
In 1989 you got a new agent?
TRACI
Yes. The lovely Don Geller.
INTERVIEWER
Then came one of your big breaks
into the mainstream. The 50s set
John Waters comedy, "Cry Baby". Co
starring Johnny Depp?
TRACI
Yeah, for the first time in a long
time I felt I was involved in
something good.
INT. DRESSING ROOM - DAY
TITLE ON SCREEN - ON THE SET OF CRY BABY, 1990
We are in the dressing room of Traci, as make-up is applied
to her face. A head pops into the room from an opened door.
It is film Director John Waters.
JOHN WATERS
That's just the look we want,
Traci. Ten minutes Ok, honey?
TRACI
Cool, John.
The make-up girl finishes and spins Traci around in
her chair to look at her reflection in the bulbed mirror.
MAKE-UP GIRL
One Wanda Woodward is born.
Traci looks into the mirror and smiles.
TRACI
Just the look I was after.
Looks into the mirror and winks.
CUT TO:
INT. TV STUDIO - NIGHT
The interview continues
INTERVIEWER
Then soon after came the hit
Stephen King TV adaptation of "The
Tommy knockers" and the hit show
Melrose Place. Soon after this, you
found love in your life?
TRACI
I guess it sounds funny coming from
me, but for the first time in my
life I'm starting to get out there
and date.
He smiles at Tracy.
INTERVIEW
And this isn't the only music
you've been making?
Traci laughs.
TRACI
Oh! My singing?
INTERVIEWER
Yes. I refer to the 1995 Techno
Album 1,000 Fires. And that catchy
single "Control".
TRACI
I knew I could sing from quite an
early age, y'know?
INTERVIEWER
Well someone was listening. Pushing
it up to No 1 on the American Bill
Board charts.
TRACI
I guess it's Ok.
INTERVIEWER
I've heard it, and you rock.
TRACI
(embarrassed)
Thank you.
The interviewer smiles back at Traci, puts his clipboard
down.
INTERVIEW
I guess this pretty much takes us
up to the hear and now. You're
promoting the album now, right?
Doing some signing?
TRACI
Yeah, headin' out to Japan at the
end of this month. They have a
pretty full on techno following
over there. It's one of my favorite
places to be. And soon I'm gonna'
start on in on my next film.
INTERVIEWER
Extramarital, right?
TRACI
Yeah, which I also hope to produce.
The interviewer leans forward putting his back more into the
chair.
INTERVIEWER
All I can say finally on that is,
Good look on that and everything
you do in the future. And thank you
for opening up for us tonight.
Traci gives a giggle.
INTERVIEWER
So to speak. Traci, thank you.
Traci smiles.
TRACI
You're very welcome.
The interviewer swivels around on his chair to face a camera.
He turns away from Traci and looks straight into camera.
Close up of interviewers face.
INTERVIEWER
Tracy Lords.
The screen goes black.
The screen is blank for a few moments. On screen we see the
following sentences appear. They each fade in then fade out.
THREE YEARS AFTER RUNNING AWAY FROM HOME,TRACI RETURNED TO
TELL HER MOTHER, "I FUCKED UP"
THEORIES ON WHO TIPPED OFF THE FBI ABOUT TRACI ARE LEGION.
NOTHING HAS YET BEEN ESTABLISHED.
TRACI CONTINUES TO MAKE A SUCCESS STARRING IN TV AND FILM.
SHE IS ALSO A RECORDING ARTIST. TO THIS DAY, SHE STILL TRIES
TO SHAKE OFF THE TAG THAT FOLLOWS HER TO EVERY JOB INTERVIEW.
THAT OF - "FORMER PORN STAR"
As the final sentence fades, a picture of Traci as she looks
now appears on screen.
