JASON VERSUS PUMPKINHEAD
By
Darren (DarkForce) Higham
FIRST DRAFT
FADE IN:
EXT - UNNAMED WOODS - NIGHT
A deep dark forest. There are no sounds to be heard, no animals going about
their daily lives. Off in the distance, between the trees we can make out a
LARGE METAL OBJECT.
Closer we discover that it was a pair of huge IRON GATES. They have been
neglected for many years and are RUSTED and BATTERED.
NARRATOR (V.O.)
There is a legend in these parts.
through the gates we are now in a GRAVE YARD. The headstones are overgrown with
moss and weeds. There are even a few which have all but crumbled to dust.
NARRATOR (CONT'D) (V.O.)
It is said that if a man has been wronged then he
can call forth a terrible Demon to seek his retribution.
We are still in the graveyard. Now we are staring at a tower of Dirt. It is at
least eight feet high and 6 feet round. There seems to be a HEADSTONE at the
top.
It was a headstone but there is no writing on it. It looks like there never was.
Though that is not the strange thing about it. The strangest thing is the amount
of PUMPKINS that are growing on and around this one grave.
NARRATOR (CONT'D) (V.O.)
But if he did. He would be damned for all
eternity.
Closer to one of the Pumpkins we watch as a maggot wriggles its way out of a
small hole and PLOPS onto the grave.
CUT TO:
INT - HAGMAN'S BARN - NIGHT
Four TEENS are sat on the hay in the barn. They all have cans of beer either in
their hands or placed next to them. The teens are Maria and David Deptford (both
19 as they are twins), Joanne Richardson (18) and John Tate (19).
MARIA DEPTFORD
Any one seen Lisa yet?
JOHN TATE
I thought she was with you.
Maria takes a quick swig of her beer
MARIA DEPTFORD
Me? I haven't seen her all day. I mean I phoned
her
an hour ago and told her to meet us in here but.
DAVID DEPTFORD
Don't worry sis. She'll be here soon.
A sly grin spreads across David's face
DAVID DEPTFORD (CONT'D)
Wanna play a joke?
Maria turns away from her brother and TUTS. David pretends not to notice.
DAVID DEPTFORD (CONT'D)
Hey don't worry. Nobody gets hurt. I promise
David crosses his heart.
DAVID DEPTFORD (CONT'D)
Cross my heart and hope to die.
MARIA DEPTFORD
If anything happens I'll hold you to that.
There is a brief period of silence.
JOANNE RICHARDSON
Well don't keep us in suspense. What ya want us
to do?
David beckons for them all to move closer. Then he looks around to check the
coast is clear.
DAVID DEPTFORD
Right. This is it. What we do is...
JOANNE RICHARDSON
...Yeah?
DAVID DEPTFORD
We go hide in the corn field and then when Leese
comes
looking for us. We jump out and scream.
The others just moan at the absurdity of the idea. Maria throws her can of beer
at David. David rubs his arm where it bounces off.
DAVID DEPTFORD (CONT'D)
Come on man. It'll be funny. Leese would see the
funny side of it.
There is another moment of silence while the teens decide on what to do. Finally
it is Joanne who breaks the silence.
JOANNE RICHARDSON
Okay. I say go for it.
MARIA DEPTFORD (To Joanne)
That's not like you Jo. Your normally the one who
tries to
talk David out of these things.
Joanne grins
JOANNE RICHARDSON
Hey what can I say. It must be the drink talking.
David suddenly bolts to his feet.
DAVID DEPTFORD
Hey we better get moving. Leese might be here at
any minute.
EXT - CORN FIELD - CONTINUOUS
We are looking at the BACK DOOR of the barn as the four teens run out of it and
towards the Corn Feild. We turn and watch them as they hide in the in the Corn.
It is only when we turn back to the Barn and move towards it that we realise
that we are seeing through SOMEONE'S EYES
EXT - HAGMAN HOUSE - CONTINUOUS
Lisa Hagman (18) shuts the door of her family home. She turns to face the barn
then begins to half run / half walk towards it.
She reaches the door and looks around. Then she enters
Inside the Barn. Lisa finds nobody waiting. She looks angry.
LISA HAGMAN
Guys? Hey where are you. If this is another of
your dumb
ass jokes David I swear I'll knife you.
Silence
LISA HAGMAN (CONT'D)
Come on guys. This isn't funny.
She begins to walk towards the back door.
Lisa stops when a masked figure walks through the door towards her. She takes a
few steps back then stops.
LISA HAGMAN (CONT'D)
Come on David. You can do better than that can't
you.
She begins to walk towards the masked figure who we know to be Jason Voorhees.
Jason does not move or speak.
Lisa reaches for the mask
LISA HAGMAN (CONT'D)
Away. Let's take that stupid thing off.
Lisa does not notice the knife but she feels it as it slashes across her arm.
Lisa looks down. She is more in shock then in pain. She looks up towards the
face of Jason.
Slowly Lisa begins to back away. Jason moves to.
LISA HAGMAN (CONT'D)
(Scared)
Stay away. What do you want?
Jason says nothing. He just keeps moving forward, forcing Lisa back.
LISA HAGMAN (CONT'D)
Please don't.
Lisa trips over a pitchfork sending her tumbling to the ground.
Jason suddenly attacks with his knife slamming it home into a WOODEN BEAM.
He bends over and picks up the pitchfork as Lisa stumbles to her feet.
Lisa is now backed up against a wall. Tears stream down her face.
LISA HAGMAN (CONT'D)
(crying)
Please don't. No. Please. I don't want to die.
Her pleas fall on deaf ears. Jason lunges forward with the pitchfork straight
into her gut. Lisa stares at Jason before she slumps forward, DEAD. She dos not
fall as she is pinned to the wall.
The other side of the all we can see the PRONGS of the pitchforks as they
protrude though the wood. Blood drips through the holes and runs down the wall.
The four friends run into the barn. They look shaken, obviously they heard Lisa
scream while they were hiding. Joanne walks forward and just happens to turn to
the corner Lisa is stuck.
She screams
Title appears:
VENGEANCE:
JASON VS PUMPKINHEAD
START CREDITS ROLL
Lisa stops when a masked figure walks through the door towards her. She takes a
few steps back then stops.
behind the credits we can see various press clipping of the murders committed
over the years by Jason Voorhees. As well as the familiar Ki-Ki-Ma-Ma theme.
INT - THE WATERLOO INN - NIGHT
Ed Hagman (45) sits at the bar taking no notice of the hustle and bustle around
him. He stares at his glass as he ponders wether or not to take another drink.
Finally he lifts the small SHOT GLASS to his lips and swallows the liquid.
The bartender make a grab for the glass but Ed stops him
BARTENDER
Come on Ed. I think you've had enough!
ED HAGMAN
(Slightly drunk)
Look mate. I'll tell you when I've had enough.
(beat)
Now pour me another.
The bartender only shakes his head as he tops up Eds glass.
Ed smiles then downs the drink in one gulp
BARTENDER
So you gonna be paying today?
ED HAGMAN
Put it on my tab
BARTENDER
If I put anymore on your tab pretty soon I'll be
able to retire
on what you owe me alone.
ED HAGMAN
Hey you know I'm good for it.
BARTENDER
Yeah. you and every other drunk in this town.
Suddenly a DRUNK stumbles over to Ed. An out-of-towner he is not known by
anybody and is probably only passing through.
ED HAGMAN
(to Drunk)
Hey watch it. I almost spilled my drink
DRUNK 1
Lend is a dollar
ED HAGMAN
Excuse me?
DRUNK 1
For a drink. I'll pay ya back
Ed stares at his once again empty shot glass.
ED HAGMAN
Get lost
DRUNK 1
Fuck you mate
The drunk stumbles away. Ed turns and watches as the drunk sits next to another
drunk, obviously his mate. They stare back at Ed and make rude gestures.
Ed smiles and waves. As he turns back to the bar he notices someone enter the
front door.
Sheriff Albright (50) looks around at the various patrons. His eyes finally fix
on Ed and he walks over.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
(To Ed)
Ed!
ED HAGMAN
Yeah?
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Ed. I have some bad news.
A few minutes have passed. Ed and the bartender looked physically shocked. Ed
has gone white and the glass is shaking in his hand.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (CONT'D)
I'm sorry. I just wish that you had came with me
to my
car. This was no place to tell you.
ED HAGMAN
How? When? I mean... I have to go.
Despite what he said earlier Ed goes to place money on the bar.
The bartender stops him.
BARTENDER
On the house
As Ed walks past the two drunks they make a couple of mor rude gestures with
their fingers.
DRUNK 2
Tight-assed cunt
Sheriff Albright makes for the two drunks but Ed stops him and shakes his head.
He has more important things on his mind.
INT - MORGUE - NIGHT
Ed stands over the covered body of his daughter. His hand reaches out to remove
the cover but he pulls it away, he doesn't want to see as much as he does. John,
Maria, David and Joanne are stood nearby
ED HAGMAN
(To group, but not looking at them)
Where were you?
DAVID DEPTFORD
In the field
ED HAGMAN
Why?
JOANNE RICHARDSON
It was a joke. It was just a harmless joke
ED HAGMAN
(Angry)
A joke?
MARIA DEPTFORD
We were hiding from Leese. We were just going to jump out and shout 'boo'. We
didn't know...
ED HAGMAN
(unnaturally calm)
...fuck off
JOHN TATE
Excuse me?
ED HAGMAN
You heard me!
The girls are in tears now. John doesn't know wether to be sad for Ed or to hit
him.
JOHN TATE
Get the fuck outta here NOW!
The four teens look at each other. They are unsure what to do. It is David who
decides when he grabs Maria's arm and drags her away The others follow leaving
Ed alone with his daughter.
ED HAGMAN
(To Lisa)
Don't worry. I'll fix it.
EXT - DIRT ROAD - NIGHT
Somehow Ed has spirited away Lisa's body. he is now driving with it in his
truck. He is a man on a mission and knows exactly where he is going.
He turns his to the passenger seat and sees...
...Lisa sitting there. She is staring at him with her pale, dead eyes. Ed looks
down and gasps as the blood continues to seep through the holes in her abdomen.
LISA HAGMAN
Where we going daddy?
Lights blaring into his face and a loud horn force Ed to swerve his truck out of
the way of an oncoming lorry. He stops the truck and turns to face his daughter
His daughter is not there. He turns to look in the back. He can clearly see the
body bag with his Lisa inside it.
He rubs his eyes, starts the truck again and drives off
EXT - FRANK'S HOUSE - MIDNIGHT
Ed bangs on the door. Each knock loud enough to wake the dead.
We can hear shuffling and someone coughing from inside.
Ed continues knocking.
FRANK (O.S.)
(coughing)
Yeah? Who is it?
ED HAGMAN
Frank!
FRANK (O.S)
Ed? Ed Hagman? is that you?
ED HAGMAN
Yeah. Open up.
The door slowly opens to reveal Frank (40) he is in terrible need of a shave but
his build means that he is not the kind of person you make comments like that
to.
Frank tries desperately to keep his eyes open.
FRANK
What ya want Ed? You know what time it is?
ED HAGMAN
She's dead
FRANK
(Wide awake)
Who?
ED HAGMAN
Lisa
FRANK
Shit. Ed I'm sorry
ED HAGMAN
I don't need sorry.
FRANK
Well what d'ya want?
ED HAGMAN
Where is she?
FRANK
Who?
ED HAGMAN
You know?
FRANK
You don't mean...
Ed nods his head.
FRANK (CONT'D)
Look. You don't want to go messing with her.
ED HAGMAN
I need to. Jesus Frank somebody killed my baby.
FRANK
Ed look just don't be going there. Just keep well
away from
that (beat) Witch. I sure as hell don't want
anything to do with
her. None of us folk do. Look Ed just go home,
give your girl a
nice respectable funeral and get on with your
life.
ED HAGMAN
Just tell me.
Frank ponders this for a brief moment. He looks over to Ed's truck.
FRANK
Fine. But if I do just promise me one thing.
ED HAGMAN
What? Name it.
FRANK
Don't come back.
ED HAGMAN
What?
FRANK
If I tell you where to find her, don't come back
here. Ever. Got it?
ED HAGMAN
Whatever. Where is she?
Frank points away from the house to the direction Ed came from.
FRANK
Go back to the road. Follow it north for a couple
of miles
until you see a small road cutting through the
woods. Take it.
You can't miss her place.
ED HAGMAN
Thanks Frank. I owe you.
FRANK
Look Ed, you don't have to go. Trust me it's not
worth it. We've
all heard the tales of her and that thing.
ED HAGMAN
I have to.
FRANK
Okay Ed. But what I said goes. Don't you ever
come back or I
swear on Lulu's grave I'll have to shoot you.
ED HAGMAN
Do what you want.
Frank slams the door in Ed's face. Ed turns and walks back to his truck.
He takes another quick look at his daughter, then he opens the door and climbs
in.
INT - FRANK'S HOUSE - CONTINUOUS
Frank watches through the curtains as Ed drives away in the direction of HER
house. When Ed disappears around a corner he closes the curtain.
INT - MORGUE - NIGHT
Sheriff Albright looks at the empty table as he takes a bite of his sandwich. A
doctor is stood next to him, a look of disbelief on his face.
DOCTOR
I don't get it. Who could have taken her
A thought dawns on Albright. He finishes the last of his sandwich.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
(To himself)
Christ Ed. What do you think you're doing?
The doctor looks at the sheriff then back to the empty table upon which Lisa had
been resting.
EXT - DIRT ROAD / WOODS - NIGHT
Ed is now at the crossroads. His car is parked at the turning that he was told
to make. He looks down the dark ominous path. He looks around. There is nobody
to be seen. No people, no vehicles and no animals.
He looks back towards his daughters body.
He takes a deep breath, starts the car and begins through the woods.
EXT - WOODS - CONTINUOUS
Ed is driving through the woods. His headlights reveal nothing but rows and rows
of trees, bushes and other indiginous plant-life.
He doesn't notice the figure until it is too late. He slams on the brakes but he
is still moving forward.
But there is no impact. No bodies fly across the windscreen. The figure just
vanishes. A figure with his daughter's face
Again Ed turns to his daughter. Again she is still there, wrapped in her body
bag.
Ed rubs his face. Is he going mad. He looks ahead down the road
ED HAGMAN
Fuck!
Ed shakes takes a few deep breaths to calm his nerves, wipes away the tears
forming in his eyes then continues down the road.
He takes one last look back. Just to be sure. Nothing. The road behind is empty.
EXT - STREET - CONTINUOUS
The two drunks we met previously are stumbling down the street laughing like
little girls. They are carrying cans of lager
TOGETHER
(pointing to each other)
Your pissed
DRUNK 1
I'm not peesed you know.
He burps. Then almost trips over his own feet. He grabs onto his mate for
support.
DRUNK 1 (CONT'D)
(Laughing)
Well maybe a little
DRUNK 2
(Serious)
Well I am
At this they both burst out laughing.
DRUNK 1
Me to
DRUNK 2
And me
EXT - ALLEY - CONTINUOUS
The two drunks are not looking where they are going. They bump into someone in
the DARK
They look up. Jason Voorhees looks back at them. Drunk 1 rubs his eyes and
stares harder.
DRUNK 1
(To Drunk 2)
Fuck me it must be Halloween
Drunk 2 lifts up his CAN to Jason
DRUNK 2
(Mock British accent)
I say old chap. Would you like to partake in a
little drink.
Jason does not answer. He grabs Drunk 2 by the arm and swings him into the WALL.
Drunk 1 looks from his mate to Jason. This has had a sobering effect on him.
DRUNK 1
What the hell was that...
...He never finishes his sentence. Jason grabs him by the head with both hands
and lifts him of the floor. Drunk 1 beats his fists uselessly at Jasons arms as
Jason slowly applies the pressure.
Blood begins to trickle fom the nose of the drunk and the corner of his eyes.
Then without any effort and a nasty crunch, Jason twists and breaks his neck.
Drunk 2 sees a chance and makes a dash for it. Jason catches him by his collar
and pulls him back. The force of the pull causes the drunk to shoot of the
ground and land on the concrete with a thud.
Jason grabs the man and hoist him into the air. Above them both we can see the
parttially pulled down ladder of a FIRE ESCAPE. Jason lifts the man straight
above his head, their eyes locked on each others.
The base of the ladder erupts through the drunk. Jason lets go and watches
intently as the drunk slides off and falls to the floor.
EXT - WITCH'S COTTAGE - MIDNIGHT
Ed Pulls up to the front of the House. Everything is overgrown with weeds and
moss. The house itself is built across a small stream and supported on woden
posts.
Ed climbs out of the Truck. He goes around to the back and pulls his daughter.
Then, carrying her careully he makes his way to the front door.
INT - WITCH'S COTTAGE - CONTINUOUS
Slowly the door creaks open. Ed Hagman enters carrying his precious load. He
looks around a room and sees no sign of life. What he does see sickens him.
Cobwebs, insects and animal bones litter everywhere. The weeds and moss that
have taken over outside seem to be growing happily inside as well.
The fireplace catches his eye, or more more accurately the large backed chair in
front of it.
A voice speaks from behind the chair.
WITCH (O.S.)
(Old and Southern)
Come in Ed Hagman!
ED HAGMAN
How did you...?
An ancient looking woman peers around the chair showing her aged and wrinkled
face.
WITCH
I know many things Ed Hagman
Ed enters the small run-down house. His eyes fixed on the old woman as he slowly
walks towards her.
The witch points a wrinkled finger towards a table on the far side of the room.
WITCH (CONT'D)
Place the child there Ed Hagman
Ed does as he is instructed unzipping the bag once it is down so the world can
see his daughters face.
Ed turns and is surprised to see the Witch standing behind him.
WITCH (CONT'D)
What do you want Ed Hagman?
ED HAGMAN
They killed her...
WITCH
...Say it!
ED HAGMAN
I want you...
WITCH
...Say it!
ED HAGMAN
I...
WITCH
...SAY IT!
ED HAGMAN
(Angry)
Revenge
The witch laughs an inhuman laugh.
WITCH
And what do you want me to do for you?
ED HAGMAN
I heard that you have powers. That you have
access to
something that might help me.
WITCH
I don't think you know what you ask Ed Hagman
ED HAGMAN
I don't care. Something has to be done.
WITCH
Then I'll tell you what you need to do. Get back
into your
car and follow the trail behind my house. Follow
it until you
reach its end. To the west through the trees
you'll see some gates.
Go there.
ED HAGMAN
What's there?
WITCH
An old graveyard.
ED HAGMAN
What am I supposed...
WITCH
...Find the grave. Dig it up. Bring what you find
to me.
ED HAGMAN
How will I know If it's the right one?
WITCH
You'll know Ed Hagman! You'll know!
Ed goes to pick up his daughter but he is stopped by the Witch as she puts a
hand on his shoulder.
WITCH (CONT'D)
Leave the girl.
Ed takes one last look at the Witch and his daughter before he exits into the
night. The witch smiles as she hears the Truck engine start and fade away into
the distance.
EXT - TATE HOUSE - FRONT ROOM - NIGHT
The friends are all sat in the front room of John Tates home. The mood is very
sombre and nobody is saying much. The television buzzes quietly in the corner.
JOANNE RICHARDSON
So where are they?
JOHN TATE
(Sighing)
Out drinking. Somebodys birthday or something.
JOANNE RICHARDSON
Oh.
Silence fills the air again.
DAVID DEPTFORD
(Suddenly)
You guys hear?
JOHN TATE
(Half interested)
What?
DAVID DEPTFORD
Lisa's body is gone.
This has got everybodys full attention. They all sit up and look towards David.
MARIA DEPTFORD
Shit. You sure?
DAVID DEPTFORD
(Nodding)
Yeah. I heard somebody talking about it down the
store.
Seems old Ed did a runner with her body.
JOANNE RICHARDSON
Can he?
They look towards Joanne
JOANNE RICHARDSON (CONT'D)
I mean is he allowed to do that?
DAVID DEPTFORD
Don't know. Maybe. Besides it may not even be
true.
Shit it was only a story I heard a couple of guys
tell.
Probably just shittin'. I bet Leese is back in
the morgue.
No way would her dad do anything.
The others don't look like they agree. Neither for that matter does David.
JOANNE RICHARDSON
But what if he has?
Silence fills the air again.
EXT - TATE HOUSE - NIGHT
Maria, David and Joanne all pile into Davids car. John leans into the driver
side window. He tries his best to put on a 'happy-face' but he's fooling nobody.
DAVID DEPTFORD
See you tomorrow John.
JOANNE RICHARDSON
See ya.
MARIA DEPTFORD
Bye John
JOHN TATE
Bye guys. Drive safe. Look out for...
He cuts himself off.
MARIA DEPTFORD
For what?
JOHN TATE
Never mind. Just me being stupid. Good night.
Maria smiles weakly
MARIA DEPTFORD
'Night
John watches as the car drives down the street. He turns to walk towards his
home. Halfway down the drive he STOPS. He turns as though he has heard
something. He scans the street. Nothing there.
As he reaches the door he takes one last look before he heads inside.
EXT - FOREST PATH - NIGHT
Ed Hagman's truck trundles through the forest. Ed fights to keep the tears back.
He closes his eyes for a second. He opens them. Something is in hsi path. A
DEER. He slams the brakes hard.
At first the Deer is startled. Ed blares his horn at the dumb creature. The
creature bounds off into the forest. He follows it with his eyes. He sees
something. There they are. Through the trees he can see some large GATES. They
are the same gates from the beginning of the movie.
ED HAGMAN
About time
Slowly he weaves between the trees driving towards the gates.
He pulls up to the gates and steps out of the vehicle grabbing a shovel from the
passenger seat. He begins to walk towards them but, for a brief second, STOPS.
He turns as though to walk back to the car.
An image of Lisa Hagman lying on the coroner's table.
Snarling Ed makes his way into the GRAVEYARD
EXT - GRAVEYARD - CONTINUOUS
Ed scans the immediate area. Nothing 'feels' right to him. Then he notices it. A
large mound of earth. A tower of soil and dirt. He walks towards it.
He throws the shovel uptop, grabs a vine and hoists himself up.
An grave rests at the top of the mound. The headstone bears no information and
the PUMPKINS grow wildly all over it.
Ed grabs the shovel and starts digging.
INT - WITCH'S COTTAGE - NIGHT
The front door swings open. Ed Hagman stands in full view. He is holding
something that resembles a small child wrapped in a makeshift blanket to hide
its hideous features.
The witch points to the floor next to the fire.
WITCH
Put it there.
ED HAGMAN
What you gonna do?
WITCH
(Finger to lips)
Sssh! I'm going to grant you that which you seek.
She grabs a KNIFE that was hidden on her person. Then she slits open Lisa's
wrist letting the blood drip into a cup on the floor. Ed Hagman moves to stop
her but the Witch pushes him back.
WITCH (CONT'D)
This is what you want Ed Hagman.
She picks up the cup.
WITCH (CONT'D)
Now give me your hand.
Ed looks unsure but he does has instructed. The witch makes an incision in his
palm. She smiles as she squeezes the blood into the cup. When she has what she
wants she lets go. Ed holds his hand in pain. The witch seems uninterested. She
is now searching for something on the shelves. Ed watches as she pours god-knows
what else into the cup.
The witch begins to unwrap the BUNDLE. Something hideous is revealed. A
monstrosity that hasno right to exist. It resembles a cross between a demon and
a human baby. The Witch opens its mouth and pours in the concoction.
She steps back as the bundle begins to pulsate. Every pulse causing intense pain
in Ed's head. Ed and the witch can only watch as this small creature grows
larger and large. Unmistakable features begin to appear. Two large protrusions
grow out of the shoulder blades, a tail stretching from its backside.
The creature rises to its feet as Ed Hagman falls to the floor.
The creature is PUMPKINHEAD
WITCH (CONT'D)
It has begun
INT. JOHN'S CAR - NIGHT
The four teens are driving along a deserted road in the middle of the woods.
John is at the wheel, Joanne sat in the passenger seat with the two Deptfords in
the back. David is holding a can of beer. He offers one to Maria but she shakes
her head No.
MARIA DEPTFORD (To John)
You sure this is right.
JOHN TATE
What? You say something?
MARIA DEPTFORD
I was just wandering if it was alright to go to
a party so soon after.
She lets the sentence trail off.
JOHN TATE
I just figured that we needed to get out for a
bit.
They all sit in silence.
INT. WITCH'S COTTAGE - NIGHT
Ed Hagman lies on the floor in agony. He can barely make out the shape of
Pumpkinhead through his pain-induced daze and blurred vision. Before he finally
succumbs to the pressure and passes out he is sure he sees the Demon smile
wickedly straight at him before departing the cottage.
EXT. RAVE - NIGHT
As numerous teenagers dance all about them to a mixture of loud music the four
friends are stood around one of the many drinks table. none of them look like
they are enjoying themselves.
JOANNE RICHARDSON
I don't feel so good.
MARIA DEPTFORD
You wanna sit down or something?
JOANNE RICHARDSON
No I think I'll take a little walk. (beat)
Try to clear my head.
MARIA DEPTFORD
I'll come with you!
Joanne shakes her head.
JOANNE RICHARDSON
No. I just need to be alone.
MARIA DEPTFORD
Okay. Just don't go far okay.
Joanne nods in agreement before moving away from the group.
EXT. WOODS - CONTINUOUS
WEIRD P.O.V
We are now seeing through the eyes of someone else. We watch as Joanne leaves
teh rave and wanders into the woods. We follow her. Joanne stops and turns to
face us but it is as if she sees nothing. She turns and walks deeper into the
woods
CAMERA P.O.V
Joanne is staring intently back towards the party. It is as if she senses
someone watching her. She rubs her eyes and walks deeper into the woods.
As she moves deeper the area becomes darker and more ominous. We hear less and
less animal noises, or even the noise of the rave until she is stood in total
silence.
JOANNE RICHARDSON.
Great I'm lost
She begins to walk back the way she came from btu it looks different
JOANNE RICHARDSON (CONT'D)
This is fucking great, HELLO IS THERE
ANYBODY OUT HERE!
No answer.
She hears a twig snap behind her. She spins round but there is nothing there.
EXT. RAVE - CONTINUOUS
Maria approaches John who is dancing in the middle of the crowd. She grabs him
by the shoulder and spins him around.
JOHN TATE
What?
MARIA DEPTFORD
I'm worried about Jo. She's been gone too long.
I think we should go look for her.
JOHN TATE
Yeah sure. Grab David.
Maria walks back into the crowd, presumably to find her brother.
Suddenly it as if the whole world has gone quiet. Although people are still
dancing there are no sounds to be heard. John looks all around him. His gaze
finally stopping at the part of the woods that Joanne walked into. His face
looks both serious and worried as though he knows something is not quite right .
XT - WOODS - NIGHT
Joanne can see something in the distance partially hidden by the trees. Whatever
it is seems to stand upright like a man but it also has what appears to be a
long, slimy tail whipping about behind it.
We recognise it as the Demon of Vengeance "Pumpkinhead"
Joanne turns and runs. She doesn't care where she is running to. She just runs.
Soon she is hoplessly lost. She stops and begins to look around. She notices
some large Iron gates behind the trees.
Joanne races towards the IRON GATES. She glances around. Whatever it was has
gone, but she doesn't stop moving.
JOANNE RICHARDSON
(Shouting)
Somebody please.
Pumpkinhead has not gone. He has let her get ahead of him. He is enjoying the
game. A sly GRIN spreads across his demonic face. He moves.
Joanne reaches the gates and stumbles into the graveyard. She looks around. She
is frightened. this is the last place she would like to be.
Joanne looks towards the gate. Pumpkinhead is there. He is blocking the only
visible exit.
Joanne turn and runs. She doesn't know where she is going. She just runs.
She comes to the mountain of earth which is Pumpkinhead's resting place. She
runs around the other side to hide.
Joanne listens but hears nothing. She takes a deep breath.
Joanne sticks her head around the corner to check that the coast is clear.
She is face to face with Pumpkinhead. He is bent over so that they are eye to
eye.
Pumpkinhead reaches out and grabs her by the neck.
Joanne is kicking and screaming as she is dragged away. She desperately claws at
Pumkinhead's hands, trying to free herself. The demon does not feel a thing.
She is still screaming as Pumkinhead hoists her high over his head.
A single headstone. For some reason it looks evil. Possibly the amount of weeds,
moss and other cr** that is growing on it.
JOANNE RICHARDSON (CONT'D)
(Choking)
No. Don't
Pumkinhead slams her down with all his might. Her head hits the headstone and
splits open spraying blood everywhere. Pumpkinhead lifts her up and slams her...
...again
and again
and again
Outside the graveyard we watch as Pumpkinhead drags Joanne away, feet first. The
wounds in her battered head leave a trail of blood.
EXT. WOODS - CONTINUOUS
David, Maria and John are stood in the middle of the woods. Their heads darting
back and forth looking for any sign of Joanne. They are unaware of her grisly
fate
JOHN TATE (shouting)
JOANNE, HEY JOANNE
MARIA DEPTFORD
Come on Jo, where the fuck are you?
DAVID DEPTFORD (To Maria)
I don't think she's here.
MARIA DEPTFORD
No shit dumbass.
She begins to walk away
MARIA DEPTFORD (CONT'D)
Come on we need to keep looking.
DAVID DEPTFORD
Come on man I'm sure she's fine. Look she
said she needed to be alone.
MARIA DEPTFORD
Fuck that shit. You do remember what happened
to Leese don't you?
DAVID DEPTFORD
Yeah...I mean! Jesus
(to John)
Come on mate back me up here.
JOHN TATE
Hey family feud. Keep me out of it.
Maria sighs, the signal that she has had enough. She turns away from David.
MARIA DEPTFORD
JOANNE WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU?
WOODS - LATER
We are looking straight towards the iron gates that are the entrance to
Pumpkinhead's cemetary. Slowly the three friends walk into the frame. Maria
visibly shudders as she looks into the ominous graveyard
DAVID DEPTFORD
JOANNE ARE YOU HERE?
MARIA DEPTFORD
Why the fuck would she be here?
DAVID DEPTFORD
I don't bloody know. She might be.
JOHN TATE
Well come on lets look inside.
John begins to move towards the gate. The others follow close behind him.
GRAVEYARD - CONTINUOUS
The three friends enter the graveyard through the RUSTY IRON GATES. Their heads
are moving back and forth as they search for any sign of Joanne.
They move further into the graveyard.
MARIA DEPTFORD
JOANNE. COME ON JO, THIS ISN'T FUCKING
FUNNY ANYMORE
Maria is becoming tired. She doesn't notice a vine lying across the floor until
she is tripping over it. She grabs hold of a tombstone for support. Her hand
touching something wet and slimy.
She pulls her hand away in disgust. Slowly she raises her hand to her face to
inspect it. She almost screams when she sees what is covering her hand, Blood.
Fresh and slimy. There are also bits of hair and some greyish matter stuck to
her hand as well.
Finally it all becomes to much for her
MARIA DEPTFORD
AAHHHHHHH!!!
Hearing the scream David and John run up behind her. John grabs her by the
shoulder causing her to spin round in surprise almost knocking them both to the
ground.
DAVID DEPTFORD
What the fuck? Why the hell did you just scream?
Maria points a shaken bloodsoaked hand towards the headstone. John and David
turn their heads to look at it.
When they see the bloody mess they are almost sick. It is all they can do to
stop themselves from vomiting.
Daviid raises his arm to his mouth. He turns as though to walk away from the
gruesome sight but then in a flash turns and kicks it with the bottom of his
foot.
JOHN TATE
What the hell was that for?
David just shakes his head as he once again turns from teh blood soaked
headstone.
DAVID DEPTFORD
Let's just find Joanne and get the hell outta
here.
MARIA DEPTFORD
I think we should go back to town.
DAVID DEPTFORD
What? And leave Joanne out here? Are you nuts
MARIA DEPTFORD
I meant we can go to the Sheriff's. Get a search
party or something.
JOHN TATE
You know I think that's a good idea. Come on
David.
TREETOP - SAME
The battered corpse of Joanne Richardson is entangled in the branches of a
gnarled old tree, her head held upright by the branch that has been speared
through her neck.
John, Maria and David walk underneath, never looking up.
INT. SHERIFF'S OFFICE -
Sheriff Albright is relaxing with his feet up on his desk, he is using a
particualurly large knife to slowly peel an apple.
Suddenly the doors burst open as David, John and Maria run in. Albright narrowly
avoids falling off his chair in shock but he doesn't avoid slicing his thumb
open.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
What the hell? Jesus H. Christ you scared the
shit out of me
JOHN TATE (breathless and panting)
It's...our...friend.
He stops to catch his breath. The Sheriff is sucking his thumb, slightly wincing
at the pain
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Yeah go on?
JOHN TATE
She's missing!
A look of recognition spreads across Albrights face.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Hey, wait a sec. You were friends with that Lisa
Hagman weren't you.
MARIA DEPTFORD
Yeah but what the hell has that go to do with...
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
...Nothing. This isn't some kind of joke is it.
MARIA DEPTFORD (shocked)
Joke?
David walks towards the entrance.
DAVID DEPTFORD
Do we look like we're joking?
He slams open the door and points his hand out
into the darkness.
DAVID DEPTFORD (CONT'D)
She's out there somewhere. One of our friends was
fucking gutted and now another one is missing,
and
you're asking if this is a joke.
He slams the door shut almost, the crash rattling the items on the shelves.
DAVID DEPTFORD (CONT'D)
Now do your fucking job and find her.
Sheriff Albright is calm. David's outburst does not seem to have affected him.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Considering the circumstances I'll let your
tantrum
pass. Now look I'll tell you what I'll do. I'll
get one
of my deputies to go with you to the last place
you saw her.
JOHN TATE
We already looked. We need a proper search party.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Yeah, all in good time. But first my deputy will
go
with you to make a full report of the area,
possible
places she may have wandered into, you know.
The teens just nod. They are tired and in no mood to argue
INT. COP CAR - NIGHT
The three teens are in a car which is being driven by Deputy King (24). The car
is filled with silence. John is in the front, David and Maria sat in the back.
It is King who breaks the silence
DEPUTY KING
John? It's John right?
JOHN TATE
Yeah, What?
DEPUTY KING
Nothing, it's just I heard that that Lisa girl
wasn't
the first death of someone close to you.
DAVID DEPTFORD (shocked)
What's he talking about?
JOHN TATE (To King)
We weren't close. We couldn't have been, she died
before
I was even born.
DEPUTY KING
Oh shit, sorry, my mistake.
Maria and David look at each other shocked. Obvioulsy this is news to them
MARIA DEPTFORD
What happened?
JOHN TATE
Nothing.
MARIA DEPTFORD
No, please go on.
JOHN TATE
It happened over twenty years ago at a place
called Camp Crystal Lake.
DAVID DEPTFORD
Sounds like a nice place. I loved camp when I
was a kid.
JOHN TATE
Trust me you wouldn't like this place. Now my
cousin had managed to get a job at the camp with
a couple of her mates. Locals told them that the
place was cursed but they never listened.
MARIA DEPTFORD
So what happened?
JOHN TATE
People died. Kind of similar to the way Lisa...
It turns out that it was some crazy old bitch.
Apparently her son had drowned years before
because the counsellors weren't paying attention
or something. The crazy cow flipped and began
killing anybody that entered the camp.
DAVID DEPTFORD
That's fucked up.
JOHN TATE
My cousin finally stopped her.
MARIA DEPTFORD
How?
JOHN TATE
She cut off the bitches head with her own
machete.
DAVID DEPTFORD
If she killed her then how.
JOHN TATE
It was a short while later. My cousin was alone
in
her house. Someone broke in
DAVID DEPTFORD
Yeah and?
JOHN TATE
Someone stabbed her in the head with an ice pick.
MARIA DEPTFORD
Shit? Christ I'm sorry.
JOHN TATE
Hey no probs. It's like I said, this happened
before
I was born. I just know what my mom told me.
The car falls once again into silence. No one dares speak. We hear the car
slowly screech to a halt.
DEPUTY KING
We're here. I think!
They look out of the windows.
MARIA DEPTFORD
Yeah this is the place.
INT. WITCH'S COTTAGE - NIGHT
The hag is smiling as she watches Ed roll in the floor like he is in great pain.
We suddenly start to see flashes of Pumpkinhead's brutal attack on Joanne.
Whenever Joanne is hit Ed jerks and cries out as though he is feeling every bit
of the pain she was feeling.
ED HAGMAN (through the pain)
What the hell?
WITCH
You knew there would be consequences.
ED HAGMAN
But what the hell is this. I didn't expect.
WITCH
Nobody ever does.
Ed Hagman cries out one last time
WITCH (CONT'D)
You called upon powerful forces for your
revenge and there is always a price to pay for
such deeds.
The witch sits back down in her musty old chair, leaving Ed to feel the pain
Pumpkinhead is inflicting on Joanne.
EXT - WOODS - NIGHT
Deputy King and the three teens stand alone in the clearing that had held the
rave only a few hours ago, the floor was littered with the aftermath of the
party, cans, streamers and various other junk strewn everywhere.
Deputy King looks at the mess and tuts
DEPUTY KING
You kids realise that some poor shmoe has
to clean this crap up right.
DAVID DEPTFORD
To hell with that man. Who cares about a
bunch of crap.
JOHN TATE
We're here to find Joanne
Deputy King stares at them but doesn't say a word. He begins to look around, he
looks unsure of something.
DEPUTY KING
Well okay then hotshots, which way do
we go now.
John looks around, he is thinking. Suddenly he points to an area of woodland.
JOHN TATE
In there. The last time we saw her she was
going into the woods over there.
DEPUTY KING
You let her go alone?
MARIA DEPTFORD
She said she wanted to be.
DEPUTY KING
Whatever.
DAVID DEPTFORD
What do you mean, whatever?
DEPUTY KING
Nothing. Now you coming or not?
Nobody says anything. They just follow King into the woods. If it is physically
possible the woods seem darker, taller and denser then they were a few hours
ago, these are woods with a secret, a dark secret that it doesn't want to share.
EXT. WOODS - DAY
A large group of people, obvioulsy from the town are stood where the party was
held. Their is a lot of chattering and commotion, the air is unsettled.
Sheriff Albright stands alone at the the front of the crowd, his deputies are
lost inside the crowd, though we can spot s few of them weaving through the the
mass. He raises his arms for silence. The crowd falls into a dead silence.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Right, that's better. Now as we all know
Joanne Richardson has gone missing.
A woman is crying. Though we haven't been introduced we just know that she is
Joanne's mother.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (CONT'D)
Now this is how we are going to do this! As you
can see we have three handlers with highy trained
sniffer dogs.
We get glimpses of the handlers waving to the crowd as they keep their dogs
under control.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (CONT'D)
This is due to Deputy Kings report on the area.
There are three main areas that she could have
ended
up. Deeper into the woods. One third of you will
go with Michael and Samson to check that out.
One of the handlers (Michael) and his dog (Samson) walk to the front.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (CONT'D)
There is also the old Pumpkin patch graveyard.
There is a spreading murmur across the crowd.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (CONT'D)
I've heard the stories too. That's all they are,
stories.
One third of you will go with Greg and Pollox.
Again a handler and his dog make their way to the front of the crowd.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (CONT'D)
The rest will go with Jimmy and Rex to search
the old mines.
Sheriff Albright waits until the chatter dies down. The three teens are stood
together, they looked tired but determined.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (CONT'D)
Right any questions?
No reply
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (CONT'D)
We all know what to do. Lets go.
The crowd begin to sort themselves into the three groups. When they are ready
they begin to make their way to their designated areas.
EXT. WOODS - NIGHT
We watch as a crowd pushes its way through the woods. The once eerie silence
shattered by the constant sounds of 'JOANNE' and 'WHERE ARE YOU' that echo
through the trees.
We see the foreboding IRON GATES. Like the woods they seem to have grown. They
are darker, more menacing. Greg has to stop has Pollox seems unwilling to go
further.
The handler pulls on the dogs leash but the animal sits and refuses to budge.
GREG
Come on buy
Pollox stays still
GREG
Come on. There aint nothing to be afraid of.
With a final tug Greg manages to get Pollox to his feet. Nervously the Dog
follows its master forward to the graveyard.
WEIRD P.O.V
Something is watching all of this. We know because we are seeing through its
eyes. We watch as Greg finally gets Pollox onto his feet and then as the crowd
walk slowly and nervously into the Pumpkin patch Graveyard.
EXT. MINE - DAY
A large group have descended upon an old abandoned mine. A badly damaged sign
hangs precariously above the entrance. The group stands at the entrance peering
into the blackness. A woman switches on a torch and points it at the entrance.
The thin beam of light rips through the darkness
CROWD
HELLO. IS ANYBODY IN THERE
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
JOANNE RICHARDSON ARE YOU
DOWN THERE
Albrights radio crackles. Albright almost jumps out of his skin. He grabs his
radio off his belt and presses the button.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (into radio)
Yeah? What is it?
The voice of Greg comes through the speaker. The crowd all hush so they can
listen.
GREG (filtered)
We found something.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Yeah, what?
GREG (filtered)
Blood.
EXT. GRAVEYARD - DAY
Greg is stood over the blood splattered headstone. The crowd look on in shock
and disbelief.
GREG (CONT'D)
A shit load of blood
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (filtered)
Yeah I remember the kids telling me about it.
Look I'll send forensics team over as quick as
I can. Just get back to the search.
GREG
Right.
He puts the radio back in to his pocket.
With a sigh Greg moves away from the grave. Pollox leading the way.
A woman and a man are stood together. The woman is shaking. The man's arm is
around her in an attempt to comfort her. She turns her head from the bloody
mess. She begins to walk towards the entrance.
Greg notices.
GREG (to the woman)
Where you going?
WOMAN
I can't take this I've got to.
The woman is still walking.
GREG
Please. We need all the help we can get.
The woman stops. She turns. Her expression shows us that she is considering
something. She wipes the sweat from her forehead.
Suddenly something drips onto her back. She feels it but of course can't see
what it is. We can. It's blood. The woman is stood directly below Joanne.
WOMAN
Damn birds
Another drop hits her. This time right on top of her head. She puts her fingers
in it. When she looks at her fingers her mouth opens to scream but only a
choking sound comes out.
She looks up just as a particularly large drop of blood splats onto her face.
WOMAN'S P.O.V
Looking up through the branches we see the battered remains of Joanne Richardson
NORMAL. P.O.V
The woman opens her mouth again. This time a nerve-shattering scream erupts from
it. The others race towards her, Greg in the lead.
GREG
What's the matter? Did you find something?
She doesn't seem to hear him. The woman is still looking up. Greg follows her
gaze, as do a few of the others.
GREG
Oh Shit.
INT. MORGUE - DAY
The coroner is pulling the zip closed on the body bag of Joanne Richardson.
Sheriff Albright and Deputy King are stood next to him
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
This is just what I don't fucking need.
DEPUTY KING
What?
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Two fucking teens killed in as many nights.
I mean what the hell is going on.
DEPUTY KING
We've all heard the stories. You know, that
thing.
CORONER
What thing?
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Nothing just local superstitious crap.
DEPUTY KING
It explains all the unsolved killings that occur
around
here every so often.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Look there are no such thing as fucking Demons
got it.
This is the work of some nut-job plain and
simple. Now
If I hear you talk about this to anybody I'll
fling you so
fucking hard into a cell you feet won't touch the
floor.
DEPUTY KING
Yeah, okay.
The coroner stands silent in all of this, too shocked by Albright's outburst to
say anything.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (to Coroner)
Any ideas on time.
The coroner waits before answering as though he is coming out of a daze.
CORONER
Late last night. About ten. maybe ten thirty.
Can't be
sure till I do more tests. One thing I do know is
how
she died.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
How?
CORONER
Can't you tell by the body?
Albright doesn't look like he is in the mood for games. The Coroner quickly gets
the hint.
CORONER (cont)
Massive head injuries.
They all take a moment to let it all sink in.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Right. Now remember no talk of supernatural
predators
on the prowl. There are a lot of people in this
town.
Some families originate from here and still
believe the
old stories
Deputy King nods his head.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (CONT'D)
We don't want to start a panic.
EXT. TOWN - DAY
A high view overlooking the town. The streets are empty. There are no sounds to
be heard. The silence is suddenly penetrated by the sound of a dog barking. This
is quickly followed by another, then another. Suddenly it is as though all the
dogs in the town are barking as one.
Then as quickly as they started the barking stops and the town once again falls
into a deathly silence.
EXT. WOODS - NIGHT
A group of four teenagers stand at the entrance to the graveyard. These are not
the three friends but a group of dope smoking heavy drinking louts. One of them,
the leader, begins to snicker. He hands a joint to a skinheaded mate who puts it
into his mouth. A bseball cap wearing kid and a long haired one don't look
pleased about this
LEADER
So this is the place.
One of the other kids, the skinhead (19) looks up to the top of the trees.
SKINHEAD
Yeah this is it.
The leader walks towards the gate.
LEADER
I'm going in.
As the leader walks towards the gates the others seem reluctant to follow. The
leader turns round and sighs
LEADER (CONT'D)
Fucking chicken man.
The baseball cap wearing teen moves forward slightly, the skinhead and the long
haired lout follow close behind.
SKINHEAD
Watch who you call chicken fucker.
LEADER
Shut the fuck and come on.
They make their way into the graveyard. Despite being in a clearing the
graveyard seems darker than the tree heavy woods. It is as though the evil
resonating from the area is not allowing any light to enter.
The skinhead takes a long hit from the joint. His eyes seem to glaze over for a
second and then he seems all right again.
The baseball cap kid makes for the skinhead.
BASEBALL CAP
Hey man don't smoke the lot. That's all that we
got.
SKINHEAD
Heh
He takes another drag. Baseball Cap reaches for it. Skinhead tries to move out
of the way but they collide knocking the joint to the floor.
SKINHEAD
Fucking great. Good job shithead!
He kneels down and starts to search for it amongst the leaves and debris.
SKINHEAD (CONT'D)
This is fucking great. I can't fucking find it.
He stands up
SKINHEAD (CONT'D)
Happy now.
BASEBALL CAP
Hey man if you just gave it to me when I fucking
said.
The leader looks like he has heard something. His head is tilted as though he is
listening.
LEADER
Dudes, you hear that?
BASEBALL CAP
Hear what?
LEADER
Fucked if I know. Sounds like something
breathing.
LONG HAIR
Probably some animals
The others look at him in disbelief
SKINHEAD
The man spoke
BASEBALL CAP
Say something else
Long Hair remains silent.
Skinhead begins to move away from the group. Leader notices
LEADER
Where you going?
SKINHEAD
For a leak. You wanna hold it for me?
LEADER
Fuck you.
Skinhead just smiles before walking away into the woods. Alone.
EXT. WOODS - SAME
Skinhead pulls up his zip. He looks around but it all looks the same. He's lost.
SKINHEAD
Oh shit.
He looks towards an area that may be familiar. He makes for it.
SKINHEAD
Hey guys.
The unmistakable sound of a branch being broken.
He stops and begins to look for where the sound is coming from.
SKINHEAD
Hey dumb fucks is that you
No answer.
Another cracking twig.
Skinhead is becoming nervous. He tries to hide it behind a forced smile but he
is failing miserably.
He moves forward.
Another crack
SKINHEAD
Shit man who the fucking hell is it.
Again no answer. Skinhead moves forward, At first he moves slowly but another
CRACK is heard and this causes Skinhead to start running.
As he runs through the woods some of the low branches and bushes brush across
his hands and face slicing them open. He winces at the pain but keeps moving.
SKINHEAD (shouting)
HEY WHERE ARE YOU GUYS
He sees the familiar gates. He lets out a sigh of relief. He runs towards them
He stops at the entrance. A look of sheer terror on his face.
Finally we get to see what he is seeing. A Hockey Masked Machete wielding maniac
is hacking his friends to bloody pieces. Blood and body parts are strewn
everywhere in an horrific scene.
SKINHEAD (whispering)
Fuck
Jason hears and turns to face Skinhead in a signature Jason pose, the machete
held menacingly at his side.
Skinhead turns and runs. Jason walks after him
Skinhead is running through the woods. The branches get in his way as though
they are trying to prevent him from escaping.
SKINHEAD
SOMEBODY HELP ME
Jason is still simply walking
EXT. MINE - NIGHT
Skinhead runs right to the entrance of the old mine. He stops and looks around.
A twig snaps in the woods.
Skinhead turns and runs deep into the mine.
INT. MINE - CONTINUOUS
Skinhead stumbles in the darkness. He stops so he can listen. We can't hear any
sounds except Skinhead's BREATHING.
As he slowly moves forward he loses his footing and falls forward. He tumbles
through a portion of the floor into a lower level of the mine. An upturned mine
cart lies next to him. Breathless, he drags himself to his feet. He looks
towards his feet and sees he is standing on an old mine rail track
He follows the old tracks deeper into the mines.
Skinhead notices a light ahead of him. He runs forward. He almost makes it when
JASON blocks his path.
Skinhead stops and starts to move slowly backwards in absolute fear. He tumbles
and falls to the ground. He looks up and sees Jason towering above him
brandishing a rust old pick axe
Skinhead raises his arms to protect himself
SKINHEAD
Please...
The sentence is cut abruptly as Jason slams the pickaxe home. Even though we
don't actually see it we know that Jason has drove it through the Skinheads
skull.
Jason pulls the pickaxe free and watches intently as the blood drips off the
point. He then raises his machete with his other hand. He looks back and forth
from one bloody instrument of death to the other. His head tilting from side to
side as though he is considering something. Finally he drops the pick axe in
favour of his trusty old knife and walks away.
EXT. GRAVEYARD - DAY
Deputy King and an unnamed officer are stood in the midst of the gore strewn
Graveyard. They shudder as they take in the horrific site all around them.
King grabs his radio with a shaking hand and lifts it to his mouth,
DEPUTY KING (into radio)
Sir we got another one
INT. SHERIFF'S OFFICE - DAY
Albright and the other officers are stood listening to the radio. David, John
and Maria are there as well.
DEPUTY KING (filtered)
Jesus.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
What? Another what?
DEPUTY KING (filtered)
Killing sir. This time the sick mutha got a group
of teens.
There is a moment of silence.
DEPUTY KING (CONT'D)
Fuck. Sir?
Albright tries to remain calm, but we can see he is as anxious as the people
around him.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Yeah?
DEPUTY KING (filtered)
Sir. I thinks it's the Lewis boys. Yeah I think I
recognize
one of their gold chains.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Right, got it.
He turns the radio off
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (cont. Shouting)
FUCK (quieter) Does anybody know where Frank
Lewis is.
He looks towards his men. One of the officers raises his hand.
OFFICER
Sir. I think he's away on a business trip in
Florida.
Albright slams his fist down on the desk in frustration.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Great. I can just imagine the damn phone call
I'll have to make.
He turns to look at a map. The map has some pins in it. They mark the locations
of the murders of Lisa Hagman, Joanne Richardson and the two drunks.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
We need some more pins. (quietly) What the
hell is going on in this town? People getting
murdered. Ed Hagman missing. (louder) Has
anyone seen Ed?
The officer that just spoke approaches the map with a couple of pins. He begins
to place them in the board.
Albright turns to face his audience.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Right. nobody goes home tonight, got it? I want
you to all get out there and search this whole
goddamn
town 'till you find the bastard responsible for
all this shit.
I don't care if you have to knock on every
fucking door
and search every fucking building. Just find this
crazy
son-of-a-bitch NOW!
Nobody moves.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
MOVE IT!!!
That was the push they needed. The officers begin to frantically rush around,
grabbing the equipment and heading for the door.
Albright walks towards the three teens. He has a strange mix of anger and
concern on his face.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Right you three!
JOHN TATE (nervous)
Yeah?
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Go home where it's safe.
MARIA DEPTFORD
Okay!
Albright thinks for a moment.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
No wait. That would mean you would have to
separate at one point and I don't want anybody to
be
alone. (pause) John you have the biggest house
don't you?
John nods
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (CONT'D)
Right. David, Maria go to John's. Stay there
until
this shit has blown over. Don't worry I'll call
your
folks and let them know what's happening.
DAVID DEPTFORD
Okay.
JOHN TATE
Sure.
Maria just nods.
Albright grabs the radio off the desk and pushes the button.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (into radio)
King?
DEPUTY KING (filtered)
Yes sir?
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Wait there I'm coming over. Don't touch anything
till me and forensics get there.
DEPUTY KING (filtered)
Right sir.
INT. JOHN'S CAR - DAY
John sits quietly in the drivers seat. The Deptford's are also sitting quietly.
They are staring out of their respective windows at the frantic streets. John
turns on the radio. The news is on
RADIO
I repeat more bodies have been discovered at the old Pumpkin patch Graveyard.
This comes just hours after the remains of Joanne Richardson were discovered
placed up a tree...
John switches the radio back off in disgust.
JOHN TATE
You two all right?.
DAVID DEPTFORD (sarcastically)
Couldn't be better mate.
John knows what he really means. He closes his eyes momentarily in a gesture of
agreement.
MARIA DEPTFORD
Do you think they'll catch him?
JOHN TATE
Who?
MARIA DEPTFORD
Who? The guy who's doing this.
DAVID DEPTFORD
What makes you think it's a guy?
Maria spins angrily to face David. Her glare burning holes through him.
MARIA DEPTFORD
What is that supposed to mean?
David doesn't back down this time, he matches her glare.
DAVID DEPTFORD
I'm just saying it could easily be a woman. Damn
it, it's you that's always going on about
equality of
the sexes. If you think a man is capable of all
this,
why not a woman?
Maria says nothing.
We hear the car come to a halt.
JOHN TATE
Okay you two we're home.
OUTSIDE THE CAR
The three teens exit the car. John locks it and switches on the alarm. He looks
towards the road and then follows David and Maria to the front door.
INT. WITCH'S COTTAGE - NIGHT
Ed Hagman sits in a rickety old chair. The witch watches him from the comfort of
hers. Ed glares angrily at the witch. The witch sees this and just smiles.
WITCH
It'll be over soon Mr Hagman. Then everything
will be put right.
ED HAGMAN
I'm not so sure anymore. Perhaps
WITCH
Perhaps nothing. What's done is done. You can't
change
it now. Just sit back and watch events unfold, as
they will.
ED HAGMAN
But I have to do something.
WITCH
Do what Ed Hagman? There aint nothing to be done!
ED HAGMAN (angry and determined)
I have to try
He rises to his feet. The witch follows suit
WITCH
Don't forget, Ed Hagman, You unleashed forces
beyond your comprehension to ease your suffering.
Now that it is out there aint no putting it back,
not
until it has finished what it come to do.
ED HAGMAN
We'll see
He makes for the front door. The witch doesn't try to stop him, she just smiles
at his futile attempts to redeem himself.
Ed Hagman leaves. The witch is alone in her cottage as we hear ED'S TRUCK drive
away. The witch turns her head. We follow her gaze
LISA'S BODY is still there
WITCH
Yes Ed Hagman, We'll see.
She smiles an inhuman smile
INT. ROOM - UNDETERMINED
We are in a strange room. It is very hard to see as all the windows are boarded
up and there are no lights on. The only light source is a small black and white
television in the corner. It is currently showing the news. The death of Joanne
Richardson and the group of teens at the graveyard is being reported.
We see the back of an old fashioned armchair. At first it looks empty but then
an arm stretches out to the side. A man's arm. It grabs a glass of whiskey off a
nearby table.
We hear the sound of someone drinking and then the glass is put back on the
table. Empty.
Closer to the glass we can see what seems to be an inscription.
We move closer untill we can make out the words.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOVE FROM P. AND J.
FADE TO BLACK
EXT. GRAVEYARD - DAY
We watch as the ambulances carrying the remains of the Lewis boys trundle
through the old iron gates. Albright and King step to one side to allow the
crime scene investigators through. They watch half interested as the forensic
experts set to work marking the area and gathering evidence.
King looks around at the headstones. Fear is spread across his face
DEPUTY KING
What is it with this place?
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
What do you mean?
DEPUTY KING
Well even without this shit
King gestures towards the forensic team.
DEPUTY KING (CONT'D)
This place has always been. (beat) I don't know
(beat) There's something not quite right about
this place.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Yeah I know what you mean. Like something is here
(beat) Watching.
As he says the last word he shudders as if he was touched by something cold. He
shakes it off. He begins to walk towards his car. King watches him but doesn't
move.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
I'll see you back at the office.
King nods
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (CONT'D)
Radio me if they turn up anything.
King watches as Albright gets into his car and drives off. King turns to face
the C.S.I and walks over to them, being careful not to stand on anything that
might be evidence.
INT. TATE HOUSE. LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
John, Maria and David sit in the dark room. The radio plays music quietly in the
corner and the television is on but no sound is coming out. Nobody is speaking;
nobody is in the mood to speak.
David reaches for his beer can. He takes a quick gulp.
Maria sighs
MARIA DEPTFORD (to John)
Parents out again.
JOHN TATE
Yeah.
The silence returns. David takes another gulp of his beer.
EXT. TOWN STREETS - NIGHT
The streets are busy with the hustle and bustle of the officers go from door to
door. We watch as people answer questions but do not hear what they are saying.
INSIDE DEPUTY KING'S CAR
King watches as the search goes on. His radio crackles and the familiar voice of
Albright comes through
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (filtered)
Anything?
DEPUTY KING
Not yet sir. So far nobody's seen anything.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (filtered)
Tell me if anything turns up okay
DEPUTY KING
Okay. I was about to do the last house in this
street myself.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (filtered)
Which one's that?
Deputy King looks out of his window. We follow his gaze to a house with boarded
up windows and a battered old door.
DEPUTY KING
Mr Voorhees.
EXT. VOORHEE'S HOUSE - NIGHT
Deputy King exits his car and strolls up to the Voorhees House. He looks at the
boarded up windows and shakes his head, tutting as he does so. He knocks on the
door,
No answer
King tries again.
Still no answer
DEPUTY KING
MR VOORHEES. THIS IS DEPUTY KING OF
THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE!
He waits and listens but there is no reply.
DEPUTY KING (CONT'D)
IF YOU'RE IN THERE PLEASE COME TO YOUR
DOOR!
Again he waits. Again there is no reply given
King mutters something under his breath and walks back to his car.
He leans in the car window and grabs the radio
DEPUTY KING
Sir, I can't get a response from the Voorhees
place.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (filtered)
Well try again later. Move to the next street.
DEPUTY KING
Right sir.
He place the radio back on its holder, opens the door and climbs into the car.
We turn to view the front door of the Voorhees residence. We move forward until
we have almost collided with it. Instead of stopping we keep moving forward
through the door.
INT. VOORHEE'S HOUSE - SAME
We are in the same room as before. The one with the man in the armchair drinking
the whiskey
We watch the arm of Mr Voorhees pour another shot of whiskey into his glass.
Outside we can hear a car pulling away.
INT. TATE HOUSE - NIGHT
David Deptford lifts the can of beer to his lips. Nothing comes out. He throws
the can into the corner of the room.
DAVID DEPTFORD (to John)
Hey man. Got anymore cans.
John thinks for a moment
JOHN TATE
Yeah (beat) I think so. I think there are some
in my dad's shed in his small fridge.
David rises to his feet, stretching as he does so.
DAVID DEPTFORD
You guys want one?
Maria shakes her head no
JOHN TATE
Sure. Why not? Some reason I feel like
getting pissed tonight
DAVID DEPTFORD
I know the feeling.
With that he exits the room and heads through the house to the back door.
EXT. TATE HOUSE - NIGHT
David shivers as a cold breeze whips across him. He looks around the large
garden. Finally he spots the shed off to one side. He makes his way over to it.
He stops at the shed door. He looks down.
DAVID DEPTFORD
Shit
There is a large padlock barring his entrance.
David begins to look around for something to break the lock with. But he can't
see anything suitable. Then he has a thought. He reaches on top of the door onto
a slight overhand. He feels around for a bit.
David suddenly smiles. He brings his hand down to reveal
A KEY
He puts the key in the lock and turns. With a click the lock opens and David is
able to remove it.
INSIDE THE SHED.
The shed is packed with all sorts of tools. John's dad is evidently a hands on
Do-It-Yourself kind of man because these tools look well used and yet well
maintained.
David begins to move boxes in his search for the elusive fridge.
Suddenly music begins to blare in the background. Evidently either John or Maria
have grown tired of sitting quietly and have turned up the radio.
David smiles when he spots the battered old fridge in the corner behind a couple
of crates. He moves them to one side and opens the fridge.
There are a couple of six-packs in there. David grabs one and places it onto the
workbench above him. He then grabs another and rises to his feet. He grabs the
first one off the workbench and turns around.
David's smile turns to a look of absolute horror and sheer terror. We turn to
see what has frightened him so much.
The unmistakable form of Pumpkinhead stands in the doorway blocking David's only
exit.
David shouts out in terror
DAVID DEPTFORD
HELP ME. SOMEBODY PLEASE
INT. TATE HOUSE - SAME
The music is too loud to hear David scream for help. John and Maria sit in
blissful ignorance of what is going on just outside.
INT. SHED - SAME
David throws a can of beer at the demon of revenge but it bounces harmlessly off
its head. Pumpkinhead advances
CUT TO
Ed Hagman driving in his truck. He suddenly jerks as if he is in great pain. The
truck swerves and Ed fights through the pain to prevent it from hitting a tree.
The car stopped Ed tries to sit back but his body won't stop twitching and
convulsing
INSIDE THE SHED
David grabs a small axe from the wall. Pumpkinhead moves closer. David turns and
hacks with all his might. The axe hits Pumpkinhead in the shoulder , cleaving
through flesh and bone.
Pumpkinhead looks down at the axe in his shoulder. Not out of pain but more
puzzlement. It rips the axe out. Strangely there is no blood. It drops the axe
and watches it fall to the floor. Then Pumpkinhead raises his head until he is
face to face with David. That cruel smile of his once again spread across the
Demon's face.
EXT. SHED - SAME
David erupts through the shed window with incredible force landing on the glass-
covered ground. Blood soaked and tattered he tries to rise to his feet.
He manages to just turn his head and sees.
Pumpkinhead is waiting. It reaches down and grabs David by the ankle. David is
dragged backwards through the glass. He claws at the ground, trying to stop
himself but all he gets for his trouble is more cuts in his hands.
Pumpkinhead lifts David up by his leg until they are face to face. The pain is
becoming to much to bare and David has all but passed out. Pumpkinhead raises
one clawed finger
David opens his mouth to scream but only blood gushes out as Pumpkinhead uses
its claw to rip open a large wound from his navel to his neck.
INT. TATE HOUSE - SAME
John looks towards the window as if he hears something. He walks over to the
radio and switches it off.
JOHN TATE
You hear that?
MARIA DEPTFORD
Hear what?
JOHN TATE
Don't know. Sounded like a crash of some sort.
They make there way into the kitchen.
INSIDE THE KITCHEN
John and Maria stand at the door leading from the hall to the kitchen. They look
towards the window to the blackness beyond.
Suddenly we see David's head rise from below the window. Then ducks down again.
Maria smiles
MARIA DEPTFORD
David stop joking. I thought you were getting
some more cans.
There is no reply.
Maria looks at John a mixture of a smile and a worried look spread across her
face.
MARIA DEPTFORD
David?
Suddenly the kitchen door bursts off its hinges as the mutilated corpse of David
Deptford comes crashing through.
Maria screams in fright.
JOHN TATE
JESUS FUCK
They both look towards the door, into the blackness outside.
A flash of lightening illuminates the yard.
They both almost scream when the see the demon of vengeance, Pumpkinhead. It is
looking straight at them, a look of pure hatred and malevolence spread across
its face.
Maria reaches towards David
MARIA DEPTFORD
David...
John grabs her arm and drags her away
JOHN TATE
Leave him, we can't help him now.
MARIA DEPTFORD
But..
JOHN TATE
Come on we've got to get out of here.
Maria knows John is right. She turns and follows John out of the front door.
EXT. TATE HOUSE - SAME
John and Maria dive into John's car. John rummages through his pockets for the
keys.
JOHN TATE
Shit where are they?
MARIA DEPTFORD
HURRY THE FUCK UP!
JOHN TATE
Wait!
He fishes the keys out of his pocket
JOHN TATE
Got 'em
He puts the key in the ignition and starts the engine. He reverses the car out
of the drive just in time to see Pumpkinhead exit the front door in pursuit of
its prey.
Pumpkinhead glares in anger as its victims speed away in the car.
INT. TATE HOUSE KITCHEN - CONTINUOUS
We are looking down at the bloodied remains of David Deptford. A look of terror
forever burned onto his face.
We watch as the familiar arm of Pumpkinhead reaches towards David and drags him
out of the shot, leaving a puddle of blood where he had been lying.
The kitchen is filled with an unnatural silence.
INT JOHN'S CAR - NIGHT
John and Maria are still in a panic. Their breathing is heavy and forced. Tears
stream down Maria's face.
MARIA DEPTFORD
David...(beat) What the fuck was that thing?
JOHN TATE
I don't know?
MARIA DEPTFORD
Do you think that thing is what got Jo?
John tries to concentrate on the road ahead of him.
JOHN TATE
I don't know
MARIA DEPTFORD
And Lisa
John turns to face Maria, he looks angry
JOHN TATE
I don't fucking know. Why the fuck you
asking me for?
Maria looks hurt by this outburst
MARIA DEPTFORD
I'm sorry (beat) I...
JOHN TATE (apologetically)
No I'm sorry. I shouldn't have snapped. (beat)
Jesus Christ what the hell was that thing.
INT. SHERIFF'S OFFICE - NIGHT
Sheriff Albright sits back in his chair, his feet up on his desk. His eyes are
closed. Suddenly a noise from the front desk startles him. He looks up just in
time to see John Tate and Maria Deptford burst into his office
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Wow where's the fire?
JOHN TATE
David's dead!
This gets Albright's full attention
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
What? Wait (beat) start from the beginning.
Didn't I tell you to go home John.
JOHN TATE
We did. We were at home.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
What happened?
MARIA DEPTFORD
He was killed by something
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Something what?
MARIA DEPTFORD
I dunno, some kind of Demon!
The look of concern on Albrights face vanishes
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Look you of all people should know this aint no
time to be playing jokes.
MARIA DEPTFORD
But!
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
But nothing. We both know there aint no such
thing as demons and monsters.
JOHN TATE
But she's telling the truth
Albright doesn't listen
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Go home before I put you in a cell for the week.
John and Maria look at each other. They realize that Albright will not believe
them.
They turn and run out of the Sheriff's office.
EXT. SHERIFF'S OFFICE - SAME
John and Maria race down the steps towards John's car. They stop as Ed Hagman's
Truck pulls up beside it.
JOHN TATE
Mr Hagman?
Ed Hagman looks like shit. He looks like he has been through hell and came out
barely alive. The skin on his face appears to be shrinking as his skeletal
structure is a lot more apparent. His eyes are also so bloodshot that they
apppear to be almost naturally red.
Ed Hagman reaches over and opens the passenger side door.
ED HAGMAN
GET THE FUCK IN NOW.
John and Maria look at each other for a moment. They shrug their shoulders and
race over to Ed's truck and climb in.
INT. ED HAGMAN'S TRUCK - NIGHT
John and Maria are shaking in fear. Ed doesn't look at them, he just keeps his
eyes on the road. John hugs Maria to try and comfort her. Maria begins to cry.
JOHN TATE (to Ed)
Thanks man.
ED HAGMAN (angrily)
Think nothing of it.
JOHN TATE
I think there's something after us.
Ed turns for a brief moment to look at his two passengers but then quickly snaps
back to face the road.
ED HAGMAN
Really?
JOHN TATE
Hey man I'm serious. There's some kind
of monster after us.
Ed doesn't look like he believes them.
MARIA DEPTFORD
He's telling the truth.
ED HAGMAN
I know.
This has the same affect as if he had hit them with a sledgehammer. Both teens
kind of jump. They look at Ed Hagman in shock.
JOHN TATE
How would you...?
Ed gives them a "How do YOU think?" kind of look
The sudden realization hits John.
JOHN TATE
It was you!
MARIA DEPTFORD (dumfounded)
What?
JOHN TATE (to Maria)
He sent that thing after us. (to Ed) Didn't you?
MARIA DEPTFORD
What are you saying?
JOHN TATE
I'm saying he is the one responsible for the
deaths
of Joanne and your brother. He sent that. That
thing.
Whatever it is!
MARIA DEPTFORD
But why would he? What did we do (to Ed) Why?
Why
David? Why Jo?
Ed says nothing. John looks closer at Ed's expression. True he is angry but
there is also a hint of sadness in there as well
JOHN TATE
He blames us for Lisa's death (to Ed) Don't you!
Ed says nothing. He simply closes his eyes for a moment and sighs.
MARIA DEPTFORD
Great. There's a fucking monster out there
stalking
us and we're stuck in a truck with the nut job
who
summoned it.
ED HAGMAN
You could always get out and walk
JOHN TATE (to Ed)
If you blame us for Lisa then why are you helping
us?
ED HAGMAN
I had a change of heart
MARIA DEPTFORD
But what is it?
ED HAGMAN
Vengeance. Pure and simple. Something the
natives around here call Pumpkinhead.
INT. SHERIFF'S OFFICE - NIGHT
Sheriff Albright and Deputy King are sat on chairs on opposite sides of
Albright's desk.
Albright leans back and turns his head to look at the map.
Deputy King is busy looking through some old files.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Anything turn up?
DEPUTY KING
Nope. Nobody saw or heard anything out
of the ordinary in the last week.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Damn it. All this crazy shit going on. Kids
getting carved up like Thanksgiving turkeys and
nobody knows anything!
DEPUTY KING
It's crazy sir!
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
It's more than crazy. It's seriously fucked up.
That's what it is.
King thumbs through a file. We can't really make out any writing on it.
Sheriff Albright looks at the front of the file as King reads it's contents file
for a brief moment.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (referring to file)
What's that?
DEPUTY KING
A file I asked the FBI to fax me. It just came
through an hour ago.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Why would you ask the FBI for a file?
DEPUTY KING
It was the deaths sir!
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
What about them?
DEPUTY KING
They reminded me of some murders that took place
a couple of years back.. A whole lot of murders
actually. Spread out over a couple of decades. So
I
asked the Feds to send me all the information
they
had on the guy.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (confused)
What murders?
DEPUTY KING (shocked)
You mean you've never heard of the Crystal Lake
Hockey Mask Killer
Albright shakes his head
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
No. Should I ?
DEPUTY KING
They say he killed well over a hundred people and
he is still on the loose.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
So what's his name?
DEPUTY KING
Don't know. Wait I'm sure it must be in this file
somewhere!
King begins to frantically flip through the pages. Finally he pulls a page out.
He glances over quickly and smiles. But then the smile begins to fade.
DEPUTY KING
The majority of the killings that have occurred
at
Camp Crystal Lake since the early eighties are
believed to be the work of a one Jason Voorhees
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Voorhees?
DEPUTY KING
You don't suppose?
Sheriff Albright jumps to his feet. King stands up as well.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Grab your coat.
DEPUTY KING
Where we going?
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Did you ever get an answer at the Voorhees place?
DEPUTY KING
Well no but.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Well why don't we go pay Mr. Voorhees a visit.
DEPUTY KING
Perhaps it's just a coincidence
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
I don't believe in coincidences. Now come on.
Move it.
INT. ED HAGMAN'S TRUCK - NIGHT
The three of them sit in silence as Ed drives through the woods. John is looking
out of the windows towards the trees as they zip by. We can se the area that the
town kids had held the rave the other night.
JOHN TATE
Where we going?
ED HAGMAN
Somewhere safe. I hope
JOHN TATE
But where is safe? You said that thing will keep
coming 'till it gets us.
ED HAGMAN
There's something that she isn't telling me
John and Maria give each other confused glances
MARIA DEPTFORD
Who's she?
ED HAGMAN
The one I went to. The one who brought it to
life!
MARIA DEPTFORD
You mean some kind of witch
ED HAGMAN
Yep.
JOHN TATE
Christ. Demons, witches. What next? Bloody
zombies.
INT. VOORHEES HOUSE - NIGHT
Mr. Elias Voorhees sits alone in his big empty room drinking his whiskey. The
televison is turned off now and the room is in darkness. We now see Mr. Voorhees
in his entirity. He looks tired and battered. His eyes are red through the
drinking and the crying that he has been doing. We know he has been crying
because a single tear drips down his face.
He takes a sip of his whiskey as the clock chimes. He looks at the small clock
on the fireplace. It reads 12:30
We hear footsteps coming from behind him.
Elias Voorhees turns round to face
His SON
Jason Voorhees stands in the room towering above his father.
Elias does not look at his son in fear, but in pity.
ELIAS VOORHEES
Jason.
Jason cocks his head to one side as though he is listening and thinking.
ELIAS VOORHEES
I'm sorry I abandoned you and your mother all
those
years ago, I'm sorry I disturbed you from your
rest at
the bottom of Crystal Lake. I thought that,
perhaps if
I brought you home with me and gave you a good
burial that you would be finally at peace. But it
didn't
work out did it?
Jason says nothing.
EXT. VOORHEES HOUSE - NIGHT
Albright and King pull up to the front of the Voorhees house. They notice the
front door open.
They walk up the path with a look of determination on their faces
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Now remember. I ask the questions.
They stop at the partly open door and push it open further
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Mr. Voorhees are you home?
No answer
They walk inside
INT. VOORHEES HOUSE - CONTINUOUS
They enter the dark room. They try to flick on the lights but nothing happens.
Through the darkness they see a chair and what appears to be a figure sitting in
it.
Cautiously they approach
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Mr Voorhees?
As they reach the front of the chair their mouths open in shock.
When we see what they see it truly is a disturbing sight. Mr Voorhees sits
upright in his chair. His whiskey glass held in his hand. His head placed
carefully between his legs. But what is most disturbing is that the expression
on the beheaded Mr Voorhees is not fear, but sadness.
DEPUTY KING
What the hell?
Sheriff Albright looks dumfounded. Then he notices the glass in Mr Voorhees
hand. He lifts it out and reads the inscription.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
The killer in the files. He's called Jason right?
DEPUTY KING
Yeah!
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Does it say anything else about him? Relatives?
DEPUTY KING
It only mentions one.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Who?
DEPUTY KING
His mother.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
What was her name?
DEPUTY KING
Pamela. Actually she killed a number of teenagers
before
her son ever did. But she was killed by one of
the survivors.
You know now that I think about it, the one that
stopped her
in the end was the cousin of John Tate
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
You sure?
DEPUTY KING
Yeah. Why?
Albright hands him the glass
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Look.
King reads the inscription on the glass
DEPUTY KING
love from Pea and Jay... Pamela and Jason. Shit
he was
Jason's father wasn't he!
Albright nods in agreement
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Like I said, I don't believe in coincidences.
EXT. VOORHEES HOUSE - NIGHT
Albright and King storm out of the house, a look of sheer determination and
anger on the Sheriff's face. He spins round to face his deputy.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Get everybody now. I want this goddamn town
locked up tighter than fucking White House. You
got me?
DEPUTY KING
Yeah but.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
If this sick son of a bitch really is in my town
he
aint getting out. (beat) Not alive anyway.
INT. SHERIFF'S OFFICE, MEETING ROOM - NIGHT
The officers are all sat around desks facing the front of the room towards
Albright who stands in front of a whiteboard. There are pictures of Crystal
Lake, victims and some rare photographs and drawings of the infamous JASON
VOORHEES
The officers chatter among themselves incoherently
Albright slams his fist on the front desk for attention.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Well some of you may have heard, some of you
may not. But it seems our little town has been
paid
a visit by someone named JASON VOORHEES.
This causes more muttering. Albright waits for it to stop.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Those who have heard the stories will know that
he is attributed to around 150 murders. We are to
consider him armed and extremely dangerous.
A female deputy lifts up her hand
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (to female)
Yes?
FEMALE DEPUTY
Why would he be here? I thought he only killed at
Camp Crystal Lake
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Good question. King?
Deputy King takes center stage
DEPUTY KING
We believe that Jason Voorhees is none other than
the son of our own Elias Voorhees who was found
dead earlier tonight.
More muttering ensues
DEPUTY KING
That's not all. It seems some of our other
residences,
the Tate family are the last remaining relatives
of the
girl who killed Jason's mother.
The crowd looks confused at this bit of news
Deputy King notices this and tries to explain
DEPUTY KING
Before Jason began his killing spree, his mother,
Pamela killed some counselors at Crystal Lake
herself.
She was only stopped when she was beheaded by the
only
survivor of the night.
King steps aside as Albright takes back over
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
That's history. In the past. What is important is
that
this thing is in our town, killing people. These
people
are our friends and our family. I don't care how
you do
it, but he will be stopped.
EXT. WOODS - NIGHT
Ed's truck roars through the woods towards its destination.
EXT. WITCH'S COTTAGE - NIGHT
The truck pulls up to the front. The three of them get out and walk towards the
front door. Maria can't help but shudder as though she feels the evil resonating
from this foul place.
They push open the creaky old door and walk inside
INSIDE THE COTTAGE
The witch is waiting for them. She smiles as they walk inside and points to some
seats that they may sit on.
As they walk towards the seats they see the body of Lisa Hagman lying on a
table. Maria goes to scream but only a pitiful squeak comes out. John covers her
eyes.
They reach the seats and sit down. Ed remains standing.
WITCH (to Ed)
Bringing them here won't help Ed Hagman. I told
you, there ainto nothing can be done. What has
been
done cannot be undone.
ED HAGMAN
Fuck that. Look I know there is something you're
not telling me. What is it?
WITCH (to Ed)
You know all you need to know.
ED HAGMAN
Bullshit. What are you hiding?
WITCH
Nothing that should concern you.
She turns to face the two teens
WITCH (to John and Maria)
So you are the ones that he seeks vengeance
against!
JOHN TATE
But we didn't do anything.
WITCH
That does not matter. Vengeance is not about
guilt,
it's about feeling better. (to Ed) You do feel
better,
don't you?
Ed says nothing, but his expression says 'No'
WITCH (CONT'D)
You see that is the problem with vengeance.
People seek
it, but don't truly comprehend what it is they
want.
(to John and Maria) Now I think it is time for
you to go.
MARIA DEPTFORD
But aren't you going to help us?
WITCH
Can't you feel him?
JOHN TATE (scared)
What?
WITCH
He's coming.
John grabs Maria by the arm and drags her to her feet.
JOHN TATE
We have to get out of here!
MARIA DEPTFORD
But.
JOHN TATE
Fuck it man. She can't help, besides you heard
her.
It's coming we have to leave.
Ed, John and Maria run back out of the front door. Ed suddenly stops. He turns
and grabs Lisa's body before following the two teens outside.
EXT. WOODS - NIGHT
Pumpkinhead is in hot pursuit of his prey. He storms through the woods with
determination and purpose. It stops just behind a cover of trees in front of the
Witch's cottage as it watches the three people bundle into the truck and speed
off.
INT. WITCH'S COTTAGE - SAME
The witch smiles as the Pumpkinhead roars in anger at once again missing out on
his kill.
EXT. WOODS - CONTINUOUS
Lightening illuminates the demon as he roars, His head snapped back, looking up
to the heavens, arms spread wide with claws outstretched, his prehensile tail
thrashing wildly behind him.
Suddenly the lightening stops as does Pumpkinhead's roaring. It as if the two
were connected. He follows the route Ed, John and Maria too with his eyes. Then
follows.
EXT. STREETS - NIGHT
People are watching from their doors and peering out of their windows as cop
cars, with sirens and lights blaring, rocket down the once quiet street. They
are still watching as the cars come to a halt at different locations and the law
enforcers step out
The deputies begin to herd everyone back into their houses
One woman refuses to budge until she has had her say
WOMAN
You know what time it is?
DEPUTY
Not now madam, there is a very serious situation
going on around here and it would be best if you
got
back into your house and lock the door.
The deputy looks up to face the rest of the street
DEPUTY (shouting)
That goes for the rest of you. Get back in your
homes
and lock your doors.
The towns people mutter to themselves but they still follow his orders, soon the
sound of doors slamming shut and keys turning in locks can be heard throughout
the town.
The female deputy from the meeting before approaches
FEMALE DEPUTY
Now what?
DEPUTY
I'm not sure
FEMALE DEPUTY
You've heard the stories of this guy right.
DEPUTY
Hmm Hmm
FEMALE DEPUTY
They say he's indestructible
DEPUTY
Should make it interesting then.
They walk back to their car, they are partners.
EXT. SHERIFF'S OFFICE
Deputy King steps out of his car. He is shocked to see Albright standing at the
bottom of the steps, waiting for him. Albright looks at him expectantly.
King shoots Albright a 'why you looking at me like that' kind of look
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Tell me you found something!
Deputy King doesn't want to disappoint but he can't lie
DEPUTY KING
'Fraid not. This is one slippery son of a bitch.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
How the hell, can someone seven feet tall and
wears a
hockey mask walk around town and not be seen by
anyone?
King shakes his head
DEPUTY KING
You off somewhere?
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Yeah I was off to the autopsy of Mr. Voorhees.
He walks towards his car, which is parked, just beside Kings
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (CONT'D)
You coming?
King says nothing. He walks around to the passenger side and gets in.
INT. ALBRIGHT'S CAR - NIGHT
Albright and King sit in the car watching the road ahead of them. What should
be blackness is alive with flashing red and blue lights.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Do you believe this shit is happening in our
town?
Shit like this only happens in the cities
DEPUTY KING
Well it couldn't have started on a better date.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
What do you mean?
DEPUTY KING
Well the first death. Lisa Hagman. It was on
Friday right?
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Right. So?
DEPUTY KING
Friday. The thirteenth. Unluckiest day of the
year, right?
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Superstitious crap, that's all
They drive past the other law enforcers doing their jobs. Albright sighs as he
watches people being questioned over and over.
INT. ED'S TRUCK - NIGHT
Ed looks seriously pissed. John and Maria just look scared. They glance
nervously around them, looking for any signs of Pumpkinhead.
MARIA DEPTFORD
Now what?
JOHN TATE
We try the sheriff again.
MARIA DEPTFORD
He didn't believe us
JOHN TATE
We'll make him
MARIA DEPTFORD
How? Who would believe in a demon?
JOHN TATE (indicating Ed)
He'll help us convince him (to Ed) Won't you
ED HAGMAN (sighs)
Do I even have a choice?
JOHN TATE
Not fucking likely
Ed glances momentarily at John. John's look is deadly serious
ED HAGMAN
Fine. Let's go then.
The truck does a quick U-turn in the middle of the road and thunders back
towards town.
INT. SHERIFF'S OFFICE, MEETING ROOM - NIGHT
Albright and King walk into the large empty room. Albright throws his coat onto
a table, growling in anger
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Well that was a waste of time.
DEPUTY KING
How come?
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
We didn't learn anything from it?
DEPUTY KING
I thought we did.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Like what? How he died?
King says nothing. He knows those where rhetorical questions
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Christ even a fucking five year old could have
told me that. The whole fucking separation of
his
head from his body was a damn big give away. We
didn't get anything that would help us find his
fucking
crazy son.
DEPUTY KING
Well what did you expect? He wasn't going to
have
Jason's whereabouts tattooed on his butt was he?
Despite his anger Albright can't help but smile at this.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
I suppose your right. I just want some kind of
break.
Just then the Desk Sergeant enters the room. He beckons to Albright
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Yeah, what is it?
DESK SERGEANT
John Tate and Maria Deptford are back to see you
Albright looks like he is considering something.
DESK SERGEANT
What should I tell 'em?
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Tell them I'll be along shortly.
DESK SERGEANT
Ed Hagman is with them.
This seems to be big news to Albright and King who jump to attention.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Christ.
He thinks for a moment
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (CONT'D)
Bring them to my office
INSIDE ALBRIGHT'S OFFICE
Ed, John and Maria are giving some seats to sit on. Albright sits behind his
desk. King is stood in the corner, elbows resting on a file cabinet. Albright
and King stare at Ed Hagman as if he had declared himself the second coming of
Jesus.
It is Albright who breaks the uncomfortable silence.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Where you been Ed? What did you do with her body?
ED HAGMAN
These kids have something to tell you. I think
you
better listen
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Go on.
Ed nudges John. John says nothing. Ed nudges him again
ED HAGMAN (whispering)
Go on boy. Tell them before I change my mind.
This snaps John out of his trance.
JOHN TATE (to Albright)
Sir there is a demon named Pumpkinhead after me
and her (points to Maria)
Deputy King laughs
DEPUTY KING
Not this shit again
ED HAGMAN
He's telling the truth. Believe him.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (angrily)
My god Ed. After what happened to your daughter
you would be that last person I would think to
play this
kind of sick joke and waste police time.
ED HAGMAN (angrily)
Look Thomas. This aint no fucking Joke. There's
a demon
out there. I know. I had it fucking conjured,
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Bullshit.
MARIA DEPTFORD
It's not bullshit, listen...
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
No you listen. We already know whose killing
people
in our town. Most of my people are out right
now looking for him.
JOHN TATE
Who?
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Jason. Fucking. Voorhees
JOHN TATE
Who?
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
I thought you would have known the name John.
Considering your families' history.
John looks dumfounded, he shakes his head 'no'
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
He is a prolific serial killer who has killed
well over a
hundred people. He is also the son of the woman
that your
cousin beheaded at Camp Crystal Lake twenty-odd
years
ago as well as the son of Elias Voorhees who
until tonight
lived here, in our town. (beat) So you see, we
know who it
is. So stop this crap about demons.
MARIA DEPTFORD
Do you think he's after John?
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
I'm not sure. It could be just a coincidence
that the last
surviving members of the family of the girl that
killed his
mother live here in town. But.
JOHN TATE
But what?
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
But. I don't believe in coincidences.
FRONT DESK.
The waiting room of the sheriff's office is empty. The desk sergeant is busy
reading a newspaper, his back turned to the door.
The door creaks open. Footsteps are heard entering. The desk sergeant sighs.
Folding his paper, he turns to face the visitor.
DESK SERGEANT
Can I help you?
When he turns he looks up to the familiar masked face of Jason Voorhees. He has
seen the pictures, he knows who this is. His mouth opens in shock.
DESK SERGEANT
What the fu..
Jason rams his machete through the desk sergeants open mouth. The blade erupts
through the back sending a spray of blood up the back wall. He withdraws it
with terrible force. The desk sergeant gurgles for a moment on his own blood.
It flows out of his mouth onto the paperwork.
Jason steps back and watches him for a moment. Then he grabs the sergeants by
the back of his head and slams it down hard on a pencil holder. He lifts the
sergeant's head back up ton inspect the damage. There are numerous pencils
piercing the sergeant's face, one has ruptured an eye. Jason slams the head back
down again.
A female deputy who was walking through witnesses this. She fumbles, trying to
get her gun out of her holster.
DEPUTY (shouting)
STAY BACK
Jason turns to face her. He advances. She unleashes several rounds into his
chest. They tear through his body and embed themselves in the wall behind him,
but he still keeps coming
INSIDE ALBRIGHT'S OFFICE
The group hear the shout followed by the gunshots.
DEPUTY KING
What the hell?
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (to Ed, John and Maria)
Wait here. Don't move
Albright and King race out of the office
THE FRONT DESK
The female deputy is pinned to the wall with the machete through her head.
Jason walks by and rips his favorite weapon out. The body slumps to the floor.
Another officer runs up behind Jason and shoots round after round into his back
at close range. Jason whips round and slices across the officer's neck, taking
the head clean off.
Jason still advances through the station as officer's rush towards him, grabbing
body armor and the big guns.
CORRIDOR
One officer in full body armor and wielding a rather large shotgun stands
defiantly in front of Jason.
OFFICER
Die fucker
He unleashes a volley of shotgun blasts into Jason. The impact of the blast
force Jason backwards. The officer follows, quickly firing and reloading
OFFICER (enjoying it)
Hell yeah
Suddenly Jason stops going backwards. The officer unloads a few more rounds into
his chest but it doesn't even phase the masked behemoth. Soon the gun is empty.
The officer panics as he desperately tries to reload. Jason is to fast. He
grabs the officer by his head and slams it into the wall. Blood erupts up the
wall due to the sheer force used. Jason slams it again and again and then, for
good measure, turns it completely around.
Jason watches the body as it drops to the floor. Then turns to face the other
officers.
Terrified by what the just saw, the officers look at each other for a moment
before rushing into the room that is nearest to them. They might be members of
law enforcement, but they don't want to die like that.
Jason strolls down the corridors. An officer rushes at Jason foolishly. He is
greeted with a machete to the
top of the head. A female deputy kicks open a door and starts unloading bullets
into Jason's side.
Without even looking Jason in her direction Jason slams the door shut as he
walks past. The force of the door slamming severs both of her arms just below
the elbow. She screams in pain as BLOOD gushes out.
SIDE OFFICE
A peaceful little office. Nobody is inside. All is quiet.
An officer who has been folded in half crashes through the window. After
knocking over the desks and chairs he skids to a halt. His back and neck
twisted into impossible positions. We see Jason Voorhees stroll by the window
looking out into the corridor
ALBRIGHT'S OFFICE
The three of them stand looking at each other, not knowing whether they should
stay or run. John walks towards the door, but he stops himself. He puts his
arms behind his head in frustration and moans nervously.
MARIA DEPTFORD
What do we do?
JOHN TATE
I don't know. I'm thinking
MARIA DEPTFORD
We've got to get out of here. I don't want to
die.
JOHN TATE (more to himself)
What can we do? What can we do?
His question is abruptly answered
Albright bursts back into the office. He grabs Maria by the arm
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
RIGHT. YOU THREE, WITH ME!
He leads them out of the office.
CORRIDOR
Jason slices upwards with his machete slicing through an officer's face. The
officer falls to the floor clutching at his blood-splattered face. Jason keeps
moving forward; he has no more time to waste on this man.
He looks forward. Ahead of them Albright and King are leading Ed, John and
Maria out of the building. The five people stop and look at the masked killer.
Jason sees them and stops. His gaze moves from one to the other. When he
reaches John he stops
DEPUTY KING (to John)
I guess that answers the question of whether or
not he wants you?
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
NOW FUCKING MOVE IT?
Jason seems to take notice of this command. He starts moving towards them,
machete held menacingly to his side.
EXT. SHERIFF'S OFFICE - CONTINUOUS
Police cars screech to a halt outside of the police station. They exit the
cars, looking at each other. Their faces reveal they wonder what the hell is
going on inside. There is the unmistakable sound of gunfire and screaming. Then
the lights go out. Several of the officers jump back when a fellow deputy is
thrown through a window, only to be stopped by the metal bars.
Albright and the others come running out of the front door and down the steps.
The female officer from the meeting shouts to him
FEMALE OFFICER
What the fuck is going on sir? It sounds like a
war is
going on in there
Sheriff Albright and the others keep running towards Albright's car
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (shouting)
JASON VOORHEES.
She is shocked to see them pack themselves into the car
FEMALE DEPUTY (shouting)
SIR? WHERE YOU GOING SIR? SIR?
Her partner from before taps her on the shoulder. She turns to face him
DEPUTY
There's someone coming
He points towards the front door.
Inside we can see a shape moving towards the front doors
There is an EXPLOSION of metal and glass as Jason bursts through the doors with
incredible force.
He stops and takes a deep breath, surveying everyone around him.
An officer leaps Jason from behind in an attempt to tackle him to the ground.
The giant doesn't budge.
Jason reaches around his back and grabs the officer and brings around the front.
Jason grabs him in a bear hug and begins to squeeze until the sound of ribs
cracking can be heard. Then drops the lifeless body to the floor.
The female deputy fires a dead on shot between Jason's eyes but the bullet
simply rebounds off his mask. Soon everyone has their guns out and is unloading
clip after clip into Jason.
Jason is not bothered by the torrent of bullets ripping through him. He simply
watches Albright's car intently as it drives away. An officer comes up beside
Jason and is quickly dispatched with a slash across the throat.
The female deputy does a magnificent kick into the back of Jason's leg but as we
expect it has no effect on him. Jason rams the machete and his entire arm
through her gut. She looks down at the horrible sight, coughing up blood.
Jason pulls his arm free. The female deputy clutches her stomach and keels
over.
We move to a wide shot. Jason is dispatching the cops as quick as they come at
him. Blood, guts and limbs fly everywhere. Soon Jason stands alone amongst the
carnage, most of the officers are dead, only the sound of slight moaning
indicate that for the moment, some are still alive
EXT. STREETS - NIGHT
Albright's car tears round a corner and thunders down the empty streets, where
only moments ago it was alive with lights and sirens. Now the dead silence as
once again claimed the town
INSIDE THE CAR
The five are trying to compose themselves and catch their breaths.
JOHN TATE (to Albright)
Where we going?
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
To my house. We should be safe there.
MARIA DEPTFORD (hysterical)
SAFE? DID YOU FUCKING SEE HIM?
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Calm down miss
MARIA DEPTFORD
CALM DOWN! CALM DOWN!
She tries to rise but is forced back down by Deputy King
DEPUTY KING
Now Miss Deptford, please. Look we'll handle it.
Everything is under control
JOHN TATE
How the fuck can you say 'everything is under
control'?
Was I looking at the same guy as you, because the
one
I saw ripped your fucking officers apart and
didn't seem
to give a shit about being shot.
Deputy King tries to keep his temper in check
DEPUTY KING
No we saw it. There has to be a logical
explanation for
it though
JOHN TATE
Fuck logic. This whole town is going to hell and
we're
stuck in the middle.
EXT. ALBRIGHT'S HOUSE - NIGHT
Albright's house is on the outskirts of town. It is a large house. Evidently he
comes from a well off family. A rusty old sign that reads ALBRIGHT looks as if
it has been around longer than he has.
Albright doesn't bother to stop for the gates. He crashes through them, the car
bending the metal bars out of its path.
It screeches to a halt outside of the front door.
Albright jumps out of the car. The others follow.
In a strangely calm way, Albright walks up to his front door and unlocks it. He
pushes it wide open.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Everybody inside.
They walk inside the huge house; Albright takes one quick glance outside.
Everything is quiet. He shuts the door.
INT. ALBRIGHT'S HOUSE - CONTINUOUS
Sheriff Albright walks through the door to the front room. King is sat in the
far chair, trying to catch his breath. Ed and Maria sit on the sofa. Maria has
her in her hands, trying to fight back the tears. John stands at the window,
scanning the outside.
Sheriff looks at everyone in the room, he can sense the fear
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Look, it'll be all right. I think we'll be safe
here.
Nobody says anything. Albright walks towards another door
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (CONT'D)
Does anyone want a cup of coffee?
Ed, John and Maria all shake the heads 'no'
DEPUTY KING
Got anything stronger?
Sheriff Albright thinks for a moment
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
I think there's some brandy in the cupboard
behind you.
King turns around and sees a small liquor cabinet on the chair behind him. He
reaches over and opens the door. He pulls out a bottle and a glass and pours
himself a drink.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
To hell with coffee. Pour me a glass
King grabs another glass and pours Albright a drink.
John turns to face the two officers.
JOHN TATE
I don't think we're safe here.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Look I'm telling you, Jason doesn't know where I
live
and I doubt he could have followed the car at the
speed
we were going.
JOHN TATE (under his breath)
It's not him I'm worried about.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
What was that?
JOHN TATE
Oh nothing. Just thinking
EXT. WOODS - NIGHT
The woods are silent. A slight breeze flows through the branches rustling the
leaves. Then a sound a twig snapping reverberates throughout the area. The
wind begins to get stronger, sweeping up leaves and twigs and throwing them
around the woods.
A bolt of lightening hits a tree causing a large branch to crash to the ground,
erupting into a large ball of flame. The flaming branch lands with a thud,
sending sparks flying. As the sparks meet the other trees and plant-life the
flames are quickly spread.
The flames begin to grow higher making it difficult to see. But we can see
something. Through the flames we can make out a shape coming towards. At first
we can't make out who or what it is. Then the familiar tale whips around. IT'S
PUMPKINHEAD
Pumpkinhead steps into the flames. Soon he is totally engulfed, we lose sight
of him as the flames rise up around him. Pumpkinhead doesn't stop coming
forward.
He strolls out of the fire as if it means nothing to him. His body is alight
with fire but he doesn't seem to notice. When he moves out of the actual fire,
the flames that had engulfed him flow off his body like water down glass. We
can see that his body is totally unharmed. The flames have had no affect, not
even a slight scorch can be seen anywhere.
He turns his head from side to side as though he is looking for something. He
seems to sense what he is looking for. Facing east he takes what appears to be
a deep breath and snarls.
As he moves off screen towards his quarry the flames grow high until they fill
the screen. Over the crackling of the fire we can hear the unmistakable roar of
the demon of vengeance.
INT. ALBRIGHT'S HOUSE - NIGHT
King is busy loading his gun 'just in case'. John is still looking out of the
window. Albright stands next to him.
Maria has rested her head on the arm of the sofa her eyes are closed. Ed Hagman
stares blankly at a wall.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (to John)
What you looking at?
JOHN TATE
Nothing. Just looking.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Well try not to stand too in front of the window,
just in
case. We wouldn't want anyone to see you.
John smiles weakly then goes back to his self-imposed sentry duty. Albright put
a reassuring hand on John's shoulder then turns to face the rest of the group.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Now everyone please. Like I have said, we'll be
safe
here. Jason Voorhees doesn't know where we are.
Maria lifts her head towards Albright
MARIA DEPTFORD (tired)
But what about Pumpkinhead?
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Christ. Not this again. Okay, okay. Tell me
then
what is this 'Pumpkinhead'?
Ed turns his gaze from the wall to look at Albright. Albright sits on the arm
of King's chair, waiting for the story,
ED HAGMAN
It's kind of complicated
SHERIFFALBRIGHT
Hey, I've got the time.
ED HAGMAN
People around here. The locals I mean, no those
that
have moved here from the cities. People say that
for
everyone of man's sins and negative emotions
there is a
demon that resides in hell to represent it.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Okay. And?
ED HAGMAN
And so there is a demon of greed, a demon of
lust, a
demon of pride and so on.
DEPUTY KING
Okay, we're with you so far. So what has this got
to do
with Potatoface?
ED HAGMAN
It's Pumpkinhead and I'm getting to that. Like I
said a
demon for every sin and emotion. Now the most
powerful
emotion that a man can possess is grief. Not
love, grief.
This grief normally manifests itself in one way.
The need
for revenge. The strongest emotion is
'Vengeance' and that
is where Pumpkinhead comes in. (beat)
Pumpkinhead is
vengeance incarnated. Being the child of the
most powerful
of human emotions also makes him the most
powerful of
his kind.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (laughing)
And you three think he is out there?
ED HAGMAN
We don't think. The truth is it was me who
unleashed
Pumpkinhead on the town. I was angry at Lisa's
death,
I wanted the pain to go away.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Now that I understand. But come on. Demons.
What a
load of crap.
King and Albright begin to laugh at the absurdity of what they have just been
told.
Looking at John we can see his face as turned to a look of fright as he stares
into the blackness. He steps backwards and trips, falling to his butt.
The others look at him. King jumps to his feet and walks over to John
DEPUTY KING
What's the matter?
John points a trembling finger towards the window.
Deputy King follows John's finger with his gaze. He scrunches his eyes, trying
to see through the darkness, but he can't seem to see anything.
He strolls over to the window and peers outside.
OUTSIDE
The yard is empty. We can see King looking through the window. Nobody is
outside.
INSIDE
King turns around and smiles
DEPUTY KING
There's nothing there. You're probably just
seeing
Things!
GLASS SHATTERS and King looks down to see the blade of a machete poking through
his chest. The other jump up in fright and backup into a corner. The blade is
pulled free. The two powerful arms of Jason Voorhees reach through the window
and pull King backwards into the darkness.
MARIA DEPTFORD
NO PLEASE! SOMEONE HELP US!
Albright grabs her head with his hands and turns her to face him.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Quiet. Now lets get the fuck out of here.
They race towards the front door. Halfway down the hallway the front door is
ripped off its hinges. They skid to a halt.
Albright's looks at whatever as torn his door off in sheer disbelief.
We soon learn that Albright has come face to face with the creature he believed
didn't exist.
Pumpkinhead stands in the doorway blocking their exit. His lips curled back in
a snarl.
More glass smashing behind them.
THE FRONT ROOM
Jason breaks through the window sending a shower of glass and wood flying. He
brushes a chair aside with ease. The chair crashes into a wall and goes halfway
through it. The crack travels up the wall and along the ceiling causing dust
and debris to fall on top of Jason.
Jason moves forward
THE HALL
Albright grabs John and Maria and pulls them through a side door, Ed follows.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Come on through the side door.
Pumpkinhead watches them leave and begins to follow. He is about to walk
through the door they took when he seems to sense something. His lips move into
a half smile / half snarl.
The demon turns his head slowly to look at Jason.
Jason looks at this strange creature. What he is feeling we cannot see because
his mask hides his face. He seems to be studying this thing that is after his
prey.
Whether or not Jason was going to attack Pumpkinhead is uncertain because the
Demon makes the first move.
Pumpkinhead delivers a devastating backhand to Jason's face. Jason soars
through the air, crashing through the door to the dining room and landing with a
sickening thud on top of a large table which folds beneath his weight.
Jason looks up towards the creature as it advances towards him.
Pumpkinhead grabs Jason by the leg and pulls him forward. At the same time
Jason rises to a sitting position. He lunges forward with his blade. It enters
Pumpkinhead's chest with accompanied by a nasty slurping sound.
Pumpkinhead releases Jasons leg as it stumbles backwards due to the force of the
blow. Jason seizes the opportunity and rises to his feet.
Pumpkinhead has already recovered. The wound that Jason had just caused can no
longer be seen. It snarls defiantly at Jason.
Jason walks calmly towards the demon, knocking aside a piece of door the lay in
his path. Pumpkinhead moves towards Jason.
Jason once again attacks Pumpkinhead with his blade. The machete enters
Pumpkinhead's face. The demon howls as the knife is twisted. The demon grabs
Jason's attacking arm and pulls. The machete is yanked clear of the demons face
which begins to miraculously heal itself. Soon like the wound in his chest,
Pumpkinhead's facial wound is gone, not even a scar is visible.
Still keeping hold of Jason's arm, Pumpkinhead grabs him by the neck.
EXT. ALBRIGHT'S HOUSE - NIGHT
The group comes running from around the side of the house. They move towards
Albright's car
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
What the fuck was that thing?
JOHN TATE
That was Pumpkinhead
They look towards the house just in time to see
Jason sails a good twenty feet through the doorway, his feet never touching the
ground. He crashes into Albright's car causing it to flip onto its side.
Jason is slumped down, seemingly unconscious. A few moment later he slowly
lifts his head.
Pumpkinhead is in hot pursuit. The demon walks slowly towards its new
plaything.
Jason slowly rises to his feet, grabbing his machete.
Pumpkinhead stops moving. It stares at Jason as though he is trying to figure
this masked thing out.
It is now Jason's turn to attack first. He throws a punch that would have
knocked a normal persons head clean off. Pumpkinhead's head snaps back, but it
has no more affect than that.
Jason delivers blow after blow, forcing the demon back.
Jason swings another punch. Pumpkinhead grabs his hand and twists. The sound
of bones breaking can be heard. Jason stops his onslaught and staggers back.
Pumpkinhead takes the opportunity and slashes across Jason's chest with his
large vicious claws. Thick black blood spurts out of Jason and splatters on the
face and chest of the vengeance demon.
Jason takes a deep breath and punches Pumpkinhead as hard as he can. The demon
twists as it falls backwards, crashing face first to the dirt and gravel.
Jason comes after the demon. Pumpkinhead's tail whips around Jason and tries to
drag him down. Jason grabs his machete from his belt and slices half of it off.
He grabs the remaining half and swings. He lets go sending Pumpkinhead soaring
into the upturned car. The car seems to fold with the power.
Pumpkinhead lies face first in the dirt. Slowly he lifts his head to face
Jason. Jason towers over him. Pumpkinhead snarls. We move down the demon's
body. We come to a stop at the creatures tail, or at least the stump where the
tail had been.
Soon a new tail begins to grown in replacement of the one just lost.
Jason lifts the machete high above his head then begins thrusting it over and
over into the demon. Pumpkinhead's body shudders with each hit.
As Jason delivers each blow Pumpkinhead slowly rises to his knees. Soon he is
on all fours. Jason stabs him in the back of the head causing the Vengeance
demon to slump forward.
Using its powerful arms to balance itself, Pumpkinhead slowly lifts his head
again. It turns its gaze towards Jason in time to see.
Jason attacks Pumpkinhead with his machete.
Pumpkinhead blocks the attack. The machete is knocked out of Jason's hand and
it skids along the floor.
Pumpkinhead grabs Jason and pulls him down. Jason's head slams into the deck
with a crunch. Pumpkinhead keeps him pinned down as he rises to his feet. It
grabs Jason by the left arm and swings him into the car, never losing its grip.
The power of Jason hitting the car causes it to slide a couple of feet.
Still keeping hold of Jason's arm, Pumpkinhead swings Jason around the other
way, swinging Jason with tremendous force once again into the car. Pumpkinhead
lets go.
Jason lies on the ground looking up towards the stars.
His view is suddenly filled with the snarling visage of Pumpkinhead as it looks
down at him. A large string of drool snakes out of the demon's snarling mouth
and lands on Jason's mask.
Jason tries to rise but Pumpkinhead stomps on Jason's face with the power of a
pile driver.
Jason's head sinks into the ground, causing a small crater to appear,
Pumpkinhead lifts his foot.
Jason's hand reaches up and grabs Pumpkinhead's ankle. He swings his arm in an
arc. The rest of Pumpkinhead naturally follows his ankle. He slams into the
gravel sending little bits of stone flying.
Jason is back on his feet. He looks seriously pissed.
Pumpkinhead also gets to his feet.
The two of them look at each other, trying to size the other up.
CUT TO
Albright drops a mobile phone has he grabs hold of Maria to stop her from
falling backwards in fear of seeing the two monsters battle each other.
JOHN TATE
What the fuck do we do now?
ED HAGMAN
We get the hell out of here, that's what
Both Jason and Pumpkinhead turn their heads to face the group. Jason looks back
towards Pumpkinhead, the over to John. He moves towards John.
He raises his machete for the kill.
Ed Hagman pushes John out of the way, just in time to have the machete ram into
his own shoulder.
Ed Hagman cries out in pain. Pumpkinhead grips his own shoulder in the same
general area and also roars in agony. He growls and moves towards Jason.
Jason turns to face the oncoming demon. He swings with his blade, slicing
across the demons face. He swings again, this time cutting open Pumpkinhead's
chest. Jason slashes Pumpkinhead over and over, forcing the creature back.
He swings again but Pumpkinhead grabs him by the face and lifts Jason
effortlessly off the floor. Pumpkinhead brings Jason slowly forward until only
his own Hand is preventing his and Jason's face from touching.
With a roar he throws Jason to one side. Jason slides across the floor only
coming to a halt when his head hits a tree.
Jason has been lifted high above the head of Pumpkinhead. Pumpkinhead swings
Jason into the floor and then without missing a beat hurls him towards the
house.
Jason crashes into the front porch causing it to come crashing down on top of
him.
Pumpkinhead advances towards him as Jason rises like a Phoenix from the ashes.
Jason head snaps to face Pumpkinhead; you can sense the absolute hatred that
Jason has for this creature.
Jason raises his machete high! Pumpkinhead uppercuts with his razor sharp claws,
ripping apart Jason's midsection. The machete falls from his hand. Pumpkinhead
delivers another devastating blow. Jason collapses. Pumpkinhead stamps on his
back, the wood of the collapsed porch cracking beneath him.
Albright races up behind Pumpkinhead, a pitchfork held high. With a yell he
drives it deep into the demons back. Pumpkinhead stumbles forward, the
pitchfork still lodged deep into his back.
The demon spins around to face his attacker. Albright looks scared. Pumpkinhead
pushes Albright. Albright soars through the air and lands on
THE FENCE crashes below Albright. He looks towards his gut and sees he has been
impaled through a section of it.
John races over to Albright. He grabs the sheriff by the arm and tries to help
him to his feet.
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT (in agony)
STOP! PLEASE!
JOHN TATE
But we've got to get out of here
Sheriff Albright tries feebly to push John away
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Go.
JOHN TATE
Not without you
SHERIFF ALBRIGHT
Look I'm telling you (he coughs up blood) go.
John is beginning to realize that he can't help the sheriff.
John rises to his feet and turns to face Pumpkinhead.
The demon backhands John who falls onto his back. It looks from the dead body
of Albright to John lying on his back looking up in fear toward the demon.
It snarls at John before grabbing Albright and ripping him free from the fence
post.
John scrambles to his feet and backs up very quickly. Pumpkinhead takes no
notice of him for the moment. It lifts Albright up by his leg. A small
crucifix on a chain falls from inside his collar and dangles over his face.
Pumpkinhead sees this and looks disgusted. It rips the cross from Albright and
hurls it onto the ground and then stomps on it.
Jason begins to get to his feet. Pumpkinhead turns towards him.
Jason looks towards Pumpkinhead just in time to see the remains of Albright come
hurtling across the air and smack Jason square in the chest. Jason is knocked
back but he doesn't fall.
Pumpkinhead grabs a bit of fence post and hurls it at Jason. Jason keeps coming
as the posts sail harmlessly past him. He lunges at Pumpkinhead, thrusting his
machete through the demon's heart. Pumpkinhead grabs Jason's machete wielding
arm with one hand and rams the other into Jason's gut. Thick black blood oozes
out of the large wound onto Pumpkinhead's arm.
Pumpkinhead rips his arm free of Jason's belly and throws the masked killer hard
into a large nearby tree. The tree shudders with the impact of the blow, leaves
flutter to floor.
CUT TO
Maria and Ed run over to the fallen Porch. They scramble over the rubble until
they find what they are looking for, ALBRIGHT
They begin to rummage through his coat. Maria smiles and fishes something out
of Albright's pocket
MARIA DEPTFORD
Got it.
ED HAGMAN
Call the police
MARIA DEPTFORD
Is there any left?
ED HAGMAN
I don't know. We've got to try something
Maria nods. She begins to dial the number for the station.
VOICE (filtered, angry)
Hello. Sheriff's office. This better be an
emergency!
MARIA DEPTFORD
Help us, they're going to kill us
VOICE (filtered)
Where are you?
MARIA DEPTFORD
At sheriff Albright's
VOICE (filtered, urgent)

MARIA DEPTFORD

VOICE (filtered)

MARIA DEPTFORD
He's dead!
The voice doesn't say anything.
MARIA DEPTFORD (CONT'D)

VOICE (filtered)
Sorry, it's just a bit of a shock
MARIA DEPTFORD
You want a fucking? shock get the fuck over here.
VOICE (filtered)
Look I'll send as many people as we can spare but
something happened at the station earlier.
MARIA DEPTFORD
I fucking know that, I was there. One of them is
here now.
VOICE (filtered, shocked)
You mean the guy in the mask?
MARIA DEPTFORD
Yes. Now please help us.
The sound of muffled voices can be heard over the phone
VOICE (filtered)
Look, stay where you. People are coming.
Maria turns to Ed
MARIA DEPTFORD
They're coming. (to John) THEY'RE COMING
Pumpkinhead hears her shout and turns to face her. Maria sees the demon looking
at her and drops the phone in fright. Then to make matters worse she
accidentally stands on it.
The demon advances towards the girl.
Ed looks for some way to help. He notices the pitchfork lodged under a piece of
porch. He rushes over to it and tries to pull it free.
Eventually it gives way and Ed manages to pull it free, but he brushes against a
broken piece of wood, leaving a deep gash in his leg.
Pumpkinhead howls in pain and looks down at his own leg. A large gash has
appeared on Pumpkinhead's leg in the same place Ed has cut his.
Ed looks at Pumpkinhead's wound and then down at his own.
His eyes light up as he is beginning to realise the link the two share.
CUT TO
Jason looms over Pumpkinhead. Pumpkinhead arches backwards as piece of fence
post erupts through his chest. Pumpkinhead turns his own head almost one
hundred and eighty degrees to face Jason. The rest of the body quickly follows
so that the two titans of terror are face to face.
Pumpkinhead grabs Jason by both arms and pulls him close so that they are both
impaled on the fence post. Pumpkinhead then pulls Jason free, taking the post
with him.
Pumpkinhead pushes the post further through Jason so that a large section
protrudes out his back. Pumpkinhead lifts Jason by the post and tosses him with
supernatural strength towards the upturned car.
The post sticks into the car with Jason still impaled on it, pinning him to the
vehicle. He rips the post out of his abdomen and gets to his feet
He throws down the pieces of fence post, it sticks into the ground. Jason walks
menacingly towards Pumpkinhead. Pumpkinhead walks towards Jason.
Pumpkinhead slashes Jason across the chest with his massive claws. More black
blood splurts out of Jason's newest wound.
Pumpkinhead grabs Jason by the head and begins to squeeze. Jason tries to push
him off but he can't move the more powerful demon.
Pumpkinhead twits once. The sound of Jason's neck can be heard as it breaks.
Pumpkinhead discards Jason like an old doll, simply tossing him to one side.
The demon turns to face Maria and John who are stood together.
In the distance we can hear sirens blaring
It begins to move towards the teens but Jason's hand reaches out and grabs
Pumpkinhead by the ankle. Pumpkinhead looks down at the undead killer.
With a growl, the demon thrusts his hand straight through the back of Jason's
skull and rips two thirds of his skull clean off.
EXT. STREET - NIGHT
The cars come blaring down the street with lights and siren blaring.
EXT . ALBRIGHT'S HOUSE - NIGHT
Pumpkinhead lifts Jason up slightly. Deciding that he has finished with Jason,
Pumpkinhead lets go, letting the body of Jason slump into the mud.
The demon turns back towards the teens.
CUT TO
The police cars come hurtling up the drive way. The officers quickly get out
and busy themselves fetching body armor and weapns out of the car and putting
them on.
They race over to where Ed, John and Maria re standing. So far none of them has
noticed Pumpkinhead or the body of Jason.
OFFICER 1 (to group)
You guys alrig...
He turns to see Pumpkinhead come towards them. The other officers have noticed
it now and almost drop their weapons in fear.
OFFICER 1
HOLY SHIT! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?
A second officer comes up beside him wielding a shotgun
OFFICER 2
What do we do?
OFFICER 1 (to second officer)
Take it down! (To other officers) Take it down
The officer with the shotgun unloads a blast into Pumpkinheads midsection. The
demon is knocked slightly back by the impact but other than that is unharmed.
Pumpkinhead changes its glance from John and Maria to the officers. It advances
towards them
The officers are unloading everything they have into Pumpkinhead but the bullets
are having no affect, the are no wounds even visible on the demons body.
Pumpkinhead is now very close to the second officer. The officer shoots
Pumpkinhead square in the chest, blowing a hole in the beast. The officer looks
on, his mouth open wide in shock as the large wound closes its up
instantaneously.
Pumpkinhead grabs the barrel of the shotgun and pulls it free from the officers
grasp. Pumpkinhead then rams it butt first through the head of the officer.
CUT TO
Ed grabs his own face and screams in agony. He falls to his knees. Maria and
John run to him
JOHN TATE
Come on Ed, get up!
Ed says nothing.
CUT TO
The other officers keep firing at the creature, but panic has filled the air.
They are running to try and get into better positions and just to hide from this
unnatural creature.
Pumpkinhead manages to grab one officer has he stumbles over the fence post
Jason had stuck in the ground. He finds himself impaled through the neck to the
same post.
CUT TO
Ed slowly get to his feet. He staggers over to the officer with the shot gun
through his face. When he looks down at the grisly sight he has to put his hand
to his mouth to stop himself from being sick.
CUT TO
Pumpkinhead is being shot at close range by a female officer. She is backing up
as Pumpkinhead advances.
Soon the gun is empty and is just making that clicking noise you wouldn't want
to hear at a time like this.
Pumpkinhead slaps her across the side of the head. She soars a good twenty feet
through the air and lands with a nasty crunch on the floor. her neck has been
broken.
Pumpkinhead stops moving for a moment. We can hear the officers shouting
OFFICERS
WHAT IS IT? JESUS CHRIST! HOW THE FUCK
DO WE STOP THIS THING?
Pumpkinhead seems to be relishing the fear that everyone has for it. He lifts
his head high and ROARS proudly.
The officer's watch in awe and fear as the demon roars. Its arms outstretched
and tail flailing wildly.
CUT TO
Ed tosses the shotgun to John
ED HAGMAN
Use it.
John catches the shotgun. He checks that it is loaded. It is. He aims it
straight at Pumpkinhead
CUT TO
Pumpkinhead has grabbed another officer. One of Pumpkinhead's claws is on the
officer's shoulder, the other on the officer's waist. Without much effort,
Pumpkinhead rips the officer in half sending a torrent of blood spraying
everywhere. Pumpkinhead throws the two halves in opposite directions
CUT TO
John is preparing to fire at the Demon.
ED HAGMAN
NO!
JOHN TATE
But you said use it!
ED HAGMAN
I meant on me.
JOHN TATE
I can't do that!
Maria looks frightened by what is being asked of John
MARIA DEPTFORD
What are you saying Mr. Hagman?
Ed turns to face Maria and smiles, his body spasms
.
ED HAGMAN
It's okay, I figured out what the old bitch
wasn't
telling me.
MARIA DEPTFORD (crying)
I don't understand.
ED HAGMAN
Me and it.
He points to Pumpkinhead. Pumpkinhead can be seen bending over. When it stands
upright we can see the silhouette of a human spine and what can only be blood
dripping from it.
Ed Hagman jerks as if something has hit him in the back.
ED HAGMAN
We're connected.
JOHN TATE
I don't get it.
ED HAGMAN
It was my blood that gave that creature life. We
are
part of each other. My life is its life. My
death will be
its death.
MARIA DEPTFORD
There has to be another way
ED HAGMAN
We don't have time to look. (to John) Do it
JOHN TATE
I ...
ED HAGMAN
Do it
John fires the shotgun directly at Ed. Ed is knocked backwards, landing on his
beck.
ED HAGMAN
Ummph!
CUT TO
Pumpkinhead roars in agony as it to falls to the ground. A large hole as
appeared in the demons stomach. It does not vanish like the others.
Maria and John watch as Pumpkinhead starts to get to his feet.
MARIA DEPTFORD
What the fuck? Mr. Hagman said that...
John looks towatds Ed. Ed's hand twitches
JOHN TATE
Shit. He's still alive
They race over to Ed and kneel beside him.
Pumpkinhead is almost to his feet
ED HAGMAN (to John)
Finish it,
JOHN TATE
I can't. Please!
Ed grabs the barrel of the shot gun and positions it to his own head.
ED HAGMAN
Do it.
JOHN TATE
I can't
ED HAGMAN (screaming)
DO IT!!
Pumpkinhead is slowly advancing to John and Maria when suddenly the noise of a
shotgun going off can be heard. A large section of the Demons head blows off as
if it had an explosive device inside the skull.
John and Maria are hiding their eyes so they don't have to see the remains of Ed
Hagman.
There is a blinding flash. They look up. The remains of Pumpkinhead have burst
into flames. The flames get higher.
Maria reaches into her pocket and fishes out a small ring.
JOHN TATE
What's that?
MARIA DEPTFORD
It was Lisa's. I just remembered I had it. I
think he
would like it.
JOHN TATE
Yeah I'm sure he would!
Maria places it carefully inside Ed's breast pocket
John and Maria embrace. The nightmare is over
EXT. GRAVEYARD - NIGHT
On top of Pumpkinhead's grave we can see a figure digging.
Closer we can see that it is the witch. She places something inside the grave.
It looks similar to how Pumpkinhead looked when Ed first brought him to her,
except this one is missing a big section of its head.
As she starts to pile the dirt back on the missing part of the head begins to
miraculously heal itself.
Something shiny falls from the chest of the creature. Closer we see that the
creature is actually wearing clothes, which are covered in dirt and blood. The
shiny item is the ring that Maria put in Ed Hagman's pocket.
