EXT. CASEY'S HOUSE – MORNING
It's early Saturday morning. The sun is just now rising.
The main door opens and Casey steps out. He walks up his
driveway. He bends over and picks the paper up. He
coughs on the paper.
He turns and begins to walk up the driveway, before
looking down at the paper. He stops, dead in his tracks.
We see blood on the paper. Casey feels his lips. There
are a few spots of blood on them.
INT. CASEY'S HOUSE – KITCHEN - MINUTES LATER
JANICE JENNINGS, Casey's mother, is at stove making

CASEY
Um, mom?
JANICE
(without looking)
What honey?
CASEY
I sorta have a small problem.
JANICE
(without looking)
What's your problem?
Casey coughs and blood gets on the fridge.
JANICE
(without looking)
Remember to cover your mouth.
Casey rolls his eyes, and then passes out. He hits the
floor pretty hard. Janice looks over at him.
JANICE
Casey?
He doesn't respond.
INT. JOEL'S ROOM – A LITTLE LATER
Joel is lying on his bed, watching TV. The phone rings
and he answers it.
JOEL
Hello?
(We now intercut between Will at in room and Joel.)
WILL
Is Joel there?
JOEL
You're speaking to him.
WILL
Hey, Joel. It's me, Will.
JOEL
Oh, hey.
WILL
Listen, I was wondering if you
could do me a really big favor.
JOEL
What's that?
WILL
Could you give me Rene David's
phone number?
JOEL
Rene's?
WILL
Yeah.
Joel gets up and leaves his room.
INT. JOEL'S HOUSE – KITCHEN – SAME
Joel enters. He walks up to the counter. He opens a
really huge book that has phone numbers all over the
pages.
JOEL
Give me a sec.
As he searches, Joel whistles "Whistle while Work." In
the background we hear a door open and then close.
MARGIE MAYBERRY, his mother, enters. She has a really
big smile on her face. Also a look of disbelief. She
goes over and sits down at the table.
JOEL
(without looking
at her)
Hey, mom. Long breakfast with Bill?
She remains speechless.
JOEL
Here it is, 555-2580.
(We intercut with Will again.)
Will writes it down.
WILL
Thank you, Joel. Oh, you're coming
to the Chris thing tonight, right?
JOEL
Yep.
WILL
Okay. See you then.
Will hangs up.
Joel turns to his mother, who still seems shocked.
JOEL
You okay, mom?
She smiles and nods.
MARGIE
I'm just the happiest I can be
right now.
JOEL
Any special reason?
Slight pause.
MARGIE
Joel...this morning at breakfast.
Bill proposed to me.
JOEL
What?! Really?!
She nods.
JOEL
What did you say?
MARGIE
I said yes.
JOEL
Oh, that's great mom!
Joel leans in and hugs his mom.
INT. BRIAN'S HOUSE – COMPUTER ROOM – A LITTLE LATER

with pizza on it. While he eats and surfs the next, he

BRIAN
Hello?
(We intercut with Will in his room and Brian.)
WILL
Brian. It's me.
BRIAN
Who the is me? And how did you get
my number, me?
WILL
Hardy fuckin' har.
BRIAN
What do you want, Will?
WILL
Just checking to see if you're
going to the Chris thing.
BRIAN
Yeah, but do we really need a new
guy?
WILL
Haven't you heard the saying "the
more the merrier?"
BRIAN
Haven't you heard the saying
"seven's a crowd?"
Will groans.
WILL
Trust me. Chris is a good idea.
He's like a glove that's too big.
Sure he doesn't seem right or fit
right away but later you forget
about all that and get use to him.
BRIAN
Fine. I'll go. When are you
leaving for it?
WILL
Later. First I have to do
something.
Will looks down at Rene's number.
BRIAN
Me too.
Brian looks down at Cathy's email address.
WILL
See ya'.
Will hangs up and begins to eye her number. He sighs.
INT. BRIAN'S HOUSE – COMPUTER ROOM – SAME
Just as Brian is leaving with his plate:
VOICE (O.S.)
You've got mail.
Brian turns back to the computer. He reads the name
and then drops his plate.
BRIAN
Jesus Christ on acid.
The name on the computer is Cathy's.
EXT. REICTHER'S HOUSE – BACKYARD – A LITTLE LATER
Brock and Reicther stand and watch William, Reicther's
father. William is holding a shotgun. He cocks it and
fires.
WILLIAM
Boys...there is a fine art to
shooting and killing things. Most
people think nothing of it. They
just point and shoot. But there's
so much more to. Take that rabbit I
just shot. Most people would have
aimed for where it was...but I
aimed for where it was going to be.
Reicther and Brock stare at him.
VOICE (O.S.)
Reicther, telephone!
REICTHER
Coming!
Reicther heads off for the house. When he's gone,
William begins to look over his gun.
WILLIAM
Brock, why don't you go see where I
shot that rabbit at.
BROCK
I think I'm good right here.
William cocks his gun.
BROCK
Right away, sir.
Brock runs off into the woods.
BROCK
(himself, while
running)
I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die.
INT. DOCTOR'S OFFICE – A LITTLE LATER
Casey and Janice are sitting across from DR. FALCO. He
sits behind his desk, reading from a file.
FALCO
Well, after all the tests we ran it
turns that Casey...has a stomach
ulcer.
JANICE
A stomach ulcer?
FALCO
Yes.
JANICE
I thought you could only get that
when your older.
FALCO
Well, typical cases are found in
older people. But it can happen to
anyone.
CASEY
How did I get it?
FALCO
Well ulcers are usually caused by
great deals of stress.
CASEY
(excitable)
Stressed? I'm stressed? We came all
the way out here to find out that
I'm stressed? Fuck, doc. I could
have told you that, and saved you a
few bucks.
FALCO
See what I mean?
CASEY
Sorry.
JANICE
We how can I help son?
FALCO
Here.
Falco hands her a slip of paper.
JANICE
(reading)
Dr. Sollett? What's this?
FALCO
It's the name of a good
psychiatrist.
JANICE
Wow, wow, wow. Back up. A shrink?
FALCO
Yes.
JANICE
How well that help my son?
FALCO
Well, Casey could relief his stress
by talking to her and she can
prescribe him some Prozac.
JANICE
Prozac?
CASEY
Yeah, it's this pill that –
JANICE
Quiet, honey. Grown ups are talking.
Casey quiets up.
JANICE
Couldn't you use some painful laser
or give him some kind of
unnecessary surgery you could give
him?
FALCO
This method would probably be best
for Casey.
INT. CAR – LATER
Janice drives, Casey sits in the passenger side.
JANICE
A goddamn shrink?
CASEY
He is a doctor mom.
JANICE
Still there's gotta be other ways.
CASEY
Well...what's so bad about seeing a
shrink anyway?
Janice sighs.
JANICE
There's nothing really wrong with
it. I just don't want you to end up
going.
INT. WILL'S ROOM - A LITTLE LATER
Will is sitting in his chair, staring at the phone. He
does this for a few seconds.
WILL
You bastard. You little bastard.

difficult? Why can't I just pick
you up and call her?
Pause.
WILL
Dirty motherfucker.
INT. JOEL'S HOUSE - KITCHEN - SAME
Joel and Margie are sitting at the table.
MARGIE
There might be one drawback though.
JOEL
What is it?
MARGIE
We might have to move to Ohio.
JOEL
Move?
MARGIE
It's only a small chance.
JOEL
Small?
MARGIE
Yeah. If Bill can't find anywhere
to sit up his practice around here
we might have to move over there.
JOEL
If he's marrying you he should move
over here.
MARGIE
Joel, we haven't discussed any
plans or anything. Hell, we haven't
even set a date yet.
Joel doesn't know what to say. He just sits back in his
chair, looking distressed.
INT. WILL'S ROOM - A FEW MINUTES LATER
Will still sits, watching the phone.
WILL
I'm going to do.
Pause.
WILL

Long pause. He quickly grabs the phone and begins to

breathe heavily.
WILL
Hi, is Rene there?
CARMELLA
Yes. May I ask who's calling?
Will falls to his ground, struggling for air.
CARMELLA
Hello?
Will rolls over on his back trying to breathe before
passing out.
Carmella sighs and hangs up.

WILL
All right. With what?
BRIAN

Oh don't worry buddy, there's other
fish in sea.
BRIAN
No, no. It's different. She
responded.
WILL
What the hell? Really?
BRIAN
Yeah.
WILL
Wow. So what's your problem?
BRIAN
I don't know if I should respond or
not.
WILL
Brian, I'd love to help you but
I've to find some Prozac before I
passed out.
BRIAN
Okay.
Very brief pause.
BRIAN
Wait what?
Will hangs up.
BRIAN
Shit.
EXT. REICTHER'S HOUSE – BACKYARD – A LITTLE LATER
Reicther and Brock watch William as he tries to shoot an
animal.
REICTHER
Dad, as much as I love watching you
kill living things, me and Brock
really have to get ready.
WILLIAM
Oh come on, son. There's plenty of
time.
William looks into the woods to see if anything else is
moving. He sees something and quickly aims and fires.

Hello, is Rene there?
(pause)
Hello, Rene? It's me, Will.
(pause)
Oh, nothing much. Hey, I have a
question for you, Rene.
Will pauses.

Well, this Saturday, next Saturday,
