EXT. NEIGHBORHOOD - DAY
Pimentel looks up. He is Twenty Seven, but small for his age.
Brutish. He sits on a bench in the Neighborhood. Jimenez,
twenty seven, is smoking a cigarette, talking with Pimentel
and a few more guys. We don't hear what they say. They seem
very excited about something.
PIMENTEL(V.O.)
Years ago, we had Church. That was
the way of saying we had each
other. The Druglords were the main
head breakers. They took over their
piece of the city...and the
country. Slowly stripped us of our
deserved land. Our Lives. They
didn't care who they stepped on.
EXT. NEIGHBORHOOD - VARIOUS
The neighborhood. 1990's. It's where Pimentel begins. Liquor
stores with shamrocked signs line the poor area of the city.
Bums Fishing through Garbage. Catholic Pre-School kids
playing in a partially asphalted schoolyard. Next to the
school, women hang wet clothes to dry. Three kids whack a
Pinata around. It breaks, the kids start fighting over the
candy.
PIMENTEL (V.O.)
No one could get a good job...or
any job, if you were lucky or had
connections. That's what the
Gringos in the USA don't realize.
Why we jump the border and all...if
we were allowed to come legally, we
wouldn't have to jump it. If I got
one thing against them it's this.
Here, no one gives shit about
anybody. You have to take it.
A sign says "open" on a Liquor store. Pimentel pushes open
the door and enters. He walks up to the counter. Jimenez and
another guy join him. The Guy rings a small bell.
The owner shows up. He stares at the men long enough, when he
reaches under the counter and brings out a brown paper bag.
He puts it on the counter. Pimentel takes a peek. Inside
there are tens, maybe more, rolled up, Hundred Dollar bills.
He takes the bag. Then leaves. The guy throws a briefcase on
the counter. He leaves too. The owner takes the briefcase to
the back.
PIMENTEL (V.O.)
Then they throw you in Jail. Two
years. Two years is enough time for
you to collect on the insurance
money, that the man who arrested
you, set up for you. And when you
walk, you party. You party till you
drop. Like "Shop until you Drop",
except there's an edgier concept
behind it.
INT. POLICE STATION
Pimentel and Jimenez are sitting in the Police Station.
Hernandez's office. Hernandez is a tough looking, Forty
Seven, dark haired, Police Chief. He's really calm.
HERNANDEZ
We can't conceal that you've been
in the Military. Jimenez too.
You'll be convicted of a crime.
We're thinking that a guilty plea
to assault might make sense, this
time. There's not much they can do.
You already know this. Why am I
telling you this?
PIMENTEL
Given our nature. And our Cultural
Beliefs. Fucking Jotos, bring
Religion into this now.
HERNANDEZ
You know what they say about that.
I can do nothing. The god damn
church as got everybody in it's
grasp. As soon as I try something,
they will pull out the book on us.
PIMENTEL
There's no way to Side step them?
HERNANDEZ
There are maybe two or three ways,
but if we're caught....
PIMENTEL
Yeah, but whoever controls the
Church, will have to give in to
Demands. Otherwise we wouldn't be
doing this now.
HERNANDEZ
I don't think Tapio and his
Subordinates will bow down to
anybody, but until that Happens,
this is the safest way we have.
It's probation. You know how it
goes.
Pimentel looks up with a glazed insolence. In one beat he is
not a scared Criminal but a smart criminal.
PIMENTEL
I bet those Feds are going crazy
trying to pin something on us.
JIMENEZ
They can't do shit now. They can
suck me now.
HERNANDEZ
This time we do it right, we might
never have to do it again. So, lay
low for a week and stay away from
downtown, we should have this
cleared by then. Come see me after.
Now, go and collect from Miguel. He
called me ten minutes ago.
INT. LUNCH COUNTER (ONE WEEK LATER) - DAY
Pimentel comes in. The shop is one that sells papers, snacks,
fountain drinks. It's got a huge rack of Magazines and Video
Tapes.
PIMENTEL
(leaning over cluttered
counter)
You got it?
MIGUEL
Sure do. Little late that usual.
It's getting harder to sell these
days.
Miguel hands over the money. Three Thousand bucks.
PIMENTEL
Those guys on the West side sure
got Martinez and them boys on the
East running fast.
MIGUEL
Listen Luis. Tell Hernandez we
gotta move out to the Southern East
side. I can feel the money coming
in there. I can feel it.
PIMENTEL
He made it clear to us not to ever
cross into the East and North.
Pimentel takes the money. Like a Cop's probing manner, he
looks around. He is a little psychologically unstable,
somewhat depressed, extremely violent, and quick to anger.
Anybody that messes with him, he will kill with immediate
Homicidal Aggression.
Pimentel eyes the Miguel's Daughter, sweeping the back part
of the bar. Jimenez, who comes in, takes a lighter. He lights
a cigarette with the lighter. Jimenez throws a look at the
Daughters Butt, as she's bent over.
JIMENEZ
Carmen's becoming a fine ass girl.
That shit need to be taken care of.
Never had a round piece of ass like
that before.
MIGUEL
I know you would...but don't.
Pimentel turns to Jimenez, staring at him. Jimenez reaches up
above and behind the counter and takes down some cigarettes.
Pimentel doesn't listen to Jimenez, as he puts a Six Pack of
Coronas on the Counter.
PIMENTEL
You get the stuff?
Jimenez nods. In front of Jimenez, Carmen has begun stacking
of Chips and Snacks. Jimenez Stares.
PIMENTEL
(To Miguel)
Get mine too.
Jimenez flips through his wallet, removes some bills and
hands them to Miguel.
JIMENEZ
When are the others coming?
PIMENTEL
They'll be here.
The register rings. As they leave, Jimenez slaps Carmen on
the Butt and squeezes it as hard as he can. Miguel doesn't
see it. Carmen gives Jimenez a sexy look. She mimics a Phone
with her hand. Then points to the Glass Display, where the
store Number is printed. Jimenez nods.
INT. HOLY PLACE - SMALL CHAPEL
Smoky, spiritual with a large gleaming, golden cross. A
priest kneels before it -- deep in prayer. The glimmering
cross comes hangs there... but it's just a light-reflection
off the casing of a large Well. This is an old chapel. And
as the priest rubs his hands together with holy oil, we see
it's Pimentel and Jimenez -- carefully sitting behind him, in
front of a small golden table.
They are whispering. They can't see who the priest is.
PIMENTEL
(Off the Priests look)
What the fuck kind of place did you
bring us to?
JIMENEZ
He is our friend. He can help us
and he is on our side.
PIMENTEL
He better help us. We got to find
these guys fast.
The priest stops, turns his head in their direction slightly,
as to listen in. A silence descends on the men. The Priest
goes back to work, then turns around.
PIMENTEL
Okay... I have a confession to
make, but you aren't gonna like
it....
PRIEST
I'm in a hurry, Pimentel. So you've
only got ten seconds to go through
your usual list of lies, empty
promises, and idiotic denials. Then
I'm coming over there --
Recognizing the voice, Pimentel leans over to get a better
look.
PIMENTEL
If you're in such a Fucking hurry,
why are you wasting your time with
me? I got to go back to plant
fruit. You don't. You got all the
Fucking time in the world. Fruit
goes bad - shit - get new ones.
Same with a Fucking Priest.
The priest lights a candle. He recognizes their voices and
turns around. They all hug.
PRIEST
Hernandez told me about the Big
Pedro situation he is in. You guys
are down here looking for someone.
PIMENTEL
Those guys in the West are becoming
a very big obstacle to him.
PRIEST
You guys are up to your asses on
this one. These guys got
connections everywhere.
PIMENTEL
I think he needs someone like us to
do it. Someone low key.
PRIEST
These guys are invested in deep.
You'll be doing Hernandez and me a
huge favor.
PIMENTEL
That's why we're here.
The priest pops open some beers, passes them around. They sit
down.
JIMENEZ
Nice place you got.
PIMENTEL
Through small talk I hear there is
this guy, Johnny Tapio. Who is he?
PRIEST
He is a very powerful boss in the
states. He runs drugs into Mexico.
Nobody messes with him.
PIMENTEL
Hernandez sort of hinted that he
wants him and his organization gone
too.
The priest turns on the TV. He flips through channels. He
lights some incense candles.
PRIEST
You can't do it. They are spread
out way too far. It would be a
miracle.
Pimentel catches a glimpse of the Large Cross. He crosses
himself two times.
PRIEST
And I recently met with Maria...
PIMENTEL
You didn't have to tell Maria I did
her daughter.
PRIEST
Don't worry about her. She forgave
you. Who are you after?
PIMENTEL
Bollivander, or whatever his name
is. I heard he's hanging around
here. They tell me he arrived from
the US a few days Ago. A big
contract or something.
PRIEST
Bollivander, huh...he's down by the
riverside shacks. They're hiding
out down there. The cops sent a
Negotiator, but you know what
happened to him.
PIMENTEL
Somebody must want him dead.
PRIEST
Fuck man. He was running money for
Martinez. Got caught up with Tapio,
then went into hiding. This is
Martinez and Tapio who want you to
take care of him. Collect all the
Money. But be extra careful.
PIMENTEL
What about Carlos Avila? He still
around here now?
PRIEST
Shit man, that fucking asshole has
been an informant from the
beginning.
PIMENTEL
That fuck screwed us over.
PRIEST
Man he's been into them Bank Notes.
He's been smuggling them in and out
of here. Counterfeit has never had
a high price here, until now. He's
supposed to use some kind of new
ink. The Federals reported three
tons missing last week.
PIMENTEL
Fuck, how do you steal three tons
of that shit?
PRIEST
I been checking around. Seems that
fuck has got some mighty friends
down at the Federal Station. No one
knows who they are. Came here last
Fucking week. Tried to buy some
Piedra. I checked the Notes out,
they were good. Yesterday, I'm
informed they are Counterfeit. That
fuck disappeared somewhere. Haven't
been able to find him. You better
find him before I do.
PIMENTEL
Know any of these cholos?
PRIEST
A couple of them. They're burned
out Meth users. Don't remember a
fucking thing man. Last week they
stiffed me because they couldn't or
wouldn't pay. I sent a couple of my
boys to Tune them Up.
PIMENTEL
Alright. See you at the family
reunion.
PRIEST
We'll be there.
Pimentel stands. He crosses himself two times, fast, mutter
something, then leaves. Jimenez follows him.
EXT. UTILITY SHED
... Through a chain-link fence we see a handful of cholos
wandering around the shed. As Pimentel approaches the fence
with Jimenez and another guy...
PIMENTEL
... Hey, eses! Where is your Jefe?
Homeboys scatter in all directions, some hop the chain link
fence, others scurry out a narrow gate behind the shed. Out
of nowhere a gangbanger lurches from the shed, buttoning his
sagging Pants and tripping over his own feet, a naked girl in
the shed, whimpering and raped lies Shaking from Fear.
He scrambles out the back gate and comes up to Pimentel.
Pimentel, shoots him down, and enters the compound Through a
tear in the fence. Bollivander is trying to escape over a
fence.
Pimentel shoots him. He slumps to the pavement from the ten
foot fence.
Jimenez and the guy are locked in a big shoot-out with more
cholos.
BOLLIVANDER
Fuck! What the....
Bollivander is clutching his wound as best as he can, but
blood spurts out.
PIMENTEL
You made a mistake.
BOLLIVANDER
You Son of a Bitch! I'm innocent. I
can give you who you want. Tell
Hernandez I didn't do it.
PIMENTEL
You stayed behind, told them
everything you saw and everything
you heard.
Bollivander stares at him. Horror struck. Hateful. Like a
Vampire at Holy water.
PIMENTEL
Say hello to El Diablo.
Pimentel blows Bollivander's head open on the pavement. A
handful of cholos skip over the other fence. Pimentel ignores
them. Jimenez and the guy shoot some of them down. Some
escape.
INT. UTILITY SHED - MOMENTS LATER
As Pimentel pokes his head inside he discovers... Ana
Avendano, Fifteen... braless and panty less. She's shaking
from fear.
The shed is dark. No signs of a light switch. It's been
hastily and crudely put together. Between each board, there
is a small creak with light seeping through.
All around in the shed, huge packs of marijuana are stashed.
One pack has been cut open, some pot removed from it.
Ana pulls a dark red sweat shirt on over her head. Glances up
at Pimentel. Masks her shame and humiliation with the shirt.
She has been raped, as it looks like.
PIMENTEL
Come on. We gotta get the mota.
Pimentel crosses himself several times. Jimenez and the guy
load the weed into their car. Pimentel throws some hundred
dollar bills to Ana.
MICHOACAN, MEXICO
"THE RISE"
EXT. LA HOLLA RANCH - MICHOACAN - DAY
It's a hot, dry and ragged day. Farmers are working in the
fields. Kids and Teenagers, among old people are picking
fruits and vegetables. Music comes out of big speakers,
perched on tall trees. A little kid cuts himself, turns
around and pisses on his cut and continues working.
EXT. LA HOLLA RANCH - WEST CORNFIELDS - DAY
The cornfields are flourishing with green corn. Men and Women
are picking the Corn on one Field, and Planting new Corn on
another.
Among those planting the Corn is Pimentel, turning brown from
the constant gaze of the sun. He's slowly planting Corn by
Corn, next to him, Jimenez.
They are talking, as though they don't want to be heard by
anyone. They talk in broken English.
JIMENEZ
Mira! The guy said that all we need
to do is go there to the Warehouse,
get the Piedra and bring it back.
No strings attached. He will pay
good money, that we can go one day
to America and make a fortune.
PIMENTEL
And do what then? After the money
is gone. Wash Dishes? Be somebody's
Butler?
JIMENEZ
The money will never stop there. As
long as there is work, the money
will come in. Think about
it!...It's the United States, man
come on.
Pimentel drops the shovel on the Ground. He opens a cooler,
takes out two coronas. He opens them and hands one to
Jimenez.
PIMENTEL
I don't care about the United
States. I can't go anyway. You know
that.
JIMENEZ
You mean the wife you married to
get the papers? You don't want to
see her again?
PIMENTEL
I couldn't stay. She's not my wife
anymore. She understood. We were
never married anyway. Fucking
immigration picked me up at her
house.
JIMENEZ
This is good.
A man yells at him. He yells back at the man. The man waves
back.
PIMENTEL
How is this good? What the fuck is
good about this?
JIMENEZ
We can go to US. We get jobs.
PIMENTEL
How is this good? I go and how am I
supposed to get a job, as an
immigrant. They can barely get food
to eat, much less a job.
JIMENEZ
While we working, we can go to
school, get education, then become
managers or something. And we get
Green Cards.
PIMENTEL
What, in them "Fast Food
Restaurantes" or something like
that? Forget about it.
JIMENEZ
Yeah. They always look for new
employees. That's the new market
boom. That's our new future.
PIMENTEL
What the fuck you going to do? Mop
the Floors? Clean the can? Fuck no.
I can do better than that. You too.
JIMENEZ
It's a Fucking start man, Come on!
Man, why you always bumming out
like this?
PIMENTEL
Start or no Start. Those
Cocksuckers find out you doing good
on your position, they take
advantage of you. Never let you go.
They fuck you and fuck you until
there is nothing left to fuck.
JIMENEZ
It's how all the people there with
no education do it.
PIMENTEL
Fuck all those other people. I have
a dream, just like that guy. I
don't remember his name. I'm going
to the top. You're coming with me.
Pimentel cuts himself on the bottle cap in his hand.
PIMENTEL
Chinga tu Madre! Fuck!
He throws it to the ground. He immediately licks his finger.
PIMENTEL
(reluctantly)
How we going to stay?
JIMENEZ
What?
PIMENTEL
Over there. How we going to stay?
If we go there without Papers. The
Fucking government will be on our
ass the whole time.
JIMENEZ
I don't know how we going to stay.
We got to figure something out when
we get there.
PIMENTEL
Then you better be in charge of
that when we get there. You talk to
Hernandez about the work in the
garage?
JIMENEZ
He said he will pay twice we get
here. It's a straight forward job.
Just drive the cars and take them
to the royalty.
Pimentel turns towards Jimenez.
PIMENTEL
How much he paying?
JIMENEZ
Right now, if I give him the word,
he will pay a thousand pesos on top
of the two thousand.
PIMENTEL
That's nice money. We'll do it.
JIMENEZ
They are real high class people.
PIMENTEL
He's one of the richest fucks in
this State. I heard about him. He
owns half of Mexico.
JIMENEZ
This is our chance to get the fuck
out of here.
PIMENTEL
(Raised voice)
I don't want to slave and bust my
ass like this anymore. Let these
newcomers have a shot at this.
Fucking State's crawling with them
like Ants. They're everywhere. All
they know how to do is beg.
JIMENEZ
Man, stop crying all the time.
PIMENTEL
What about yesterday? What did Jefe
say?
JIMENEZ
We almost started a gang war. Two
guys got away. One ran to the cops.
The cops don't have any leads right
now.
Pimentel opens two more coronas.
PIMENTEL
This is our chance to make some
money.
Jimenez writes something on a note and passes it on to the
next guy, who passes it to another.
The note passes along 50 workers, arrives in somebody's
hands, which is the only thing we can see as they write
something, then moves back until it arrives at Jimenez, who
reads it then pockets it.
JIMENEZ
Meeting's at Eight, tonight. We go
to his house. Some guy named
Romero.
EXT. STREET - PIMENTEL'S CAR - NIGHT
Pimentel and Jimenez are waiting in their car, smoking and
drinking like there's no tomorrow. Empty beer bottles line
the dashboard, among empty cigarette packs. Mexican La Banda
music is playing on the radio.
JIMENEZ
I wonder what kind of job this is.
PIMENTEL
He didn't tell you? It's probably
mota or piedra, or something.
Pimentel takes a swig from his bottle. He finishes it, then
opens another one.
PIMENTEL
How much is he paying anyway?
JIMENEZ
The going rate, for this kind of
job, is two thousand pesos.
PIMENTEL
This fucking guy. Two Thousand
pesos, you can't even wipe your ass
with that.
Jimenez looks at the clock. It shows 7:59. Jimenez takes a
puff from the Cigarette, then flicks it out the window.
Pimentel empties the beer can, crushes it and throws it out.
They get out of the car, then enter the Front yard of
Romero's House.
Jimenez knocks on the door. A short, brown, seemingly drunk
man opens the door. This is Romero, about thirty-seven years
old, drug smuggler and father of eight.
ROMERO
What do you want?
JIMENEZ
Ej, we here to talk about your new
car.
ROMERO
Alright, come in. And watch the
Rug.
INT. ROMERO'S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
Mexican Mariachi Music is playing. Romero's Wife is yelling
from the Kitchen, 4 kids run past Romero, Pimentel and
Jimenez. Romero yells after them. The kids don't listen.
They sit down. Romero comes back with 3 Bottles of Beer and
pops the lids off. Pimentel immediately takes one.
ROMERO
You decided to do it?
PIMENTEL
You just tell us when and where. We
do it.
ROMERO
We don't wanna lose our heads. How
is everything?
PIMENTEL
What the fuck does it matter how
everything is? Just tell us what's
up with the fucking deal.
Romero, surprised at the outburst, sits down.
ROMERO
It matters. The last guy I had
here, had his head cut off cause he
wasn't listening to me. I want to
ease the tension.
PIMENTEL
There wouldn't be tension if you
didn't keep this job a big fucking
secret from us.
ROMERO
There are large amounts of Piedra
being moved. Conspicuous operation.
Some High roller from out of the
country. He's good with us. We take
care of him, he takes care of us.
Your job is to get Five pounds. If
you can make the deal, you have the
job.
PIMENTEL
Then that's it. You tell that guy,
no funny business. We go in, we
come out.
ROMERO
I will even pay five hundred pesos
more...to each.
PIMENTEL
What are we supposed to do with the
stuff?
ROMERO
Come by here, and pick me up. I'll
go with you...
Pimentel stops him. Romero stares dumbfounded.
PIMENTEL
I don't think so. I think you are
lying.
ROMERO
I'm trying to strike a bargain, and
you call me a liar.
JIMENEZ
Lets just go, man. This isn't worth
it. I think Romero is just trying
to screw us around.
ROMERO
ME! Never. I am a man of my word. I
give it, and I never break it.
Everybody who knows me and does
Business with me, knows it.
Pimentel empties the Bottle, Romero opens another one for
him. As he gives Pimentel the Bottle he says:
ROMERO
I know we can work this out. Is
nothing. I pay you half now, the
other half when the goods come.
PIMENTEL
Half of what? What are you trying
to do?
This shit you want us to get, has
got to be worth more than that. You
want us to move that shit, then off
us. No questions asked.
JIMENEZ
If you try to fuck us over, we
going to stick a pinata up your
ass.
ROMERO
This is Legitimate business.
Opportunities for both of us. No
one else will offer you these kinds
of jobs.
PIMENTEL
Why are you offering us this one?
ROMERO
My Jefe heard about you. He heard
very good things about you.
JIMENEZ
We got a boss already. We just here
to help your Boss out. That's all.
PIMENTEL
He wants us to take the blame for
something. Man, I can feel it.
Romero takes out an envelope and slams it on the Coffee
Table. He takes out a huge wad, counts some bills and lays
them out on the table.
Jimenez doesn't bother Counting, Pimentel wrenches the
Envelope out of Jimenez's hands. Pimentel empties the bottle
again.
ROMERO
That's two thousand...plus five
hundred each. That good...or what?
PIMENTEL
(To Jimenez)
You don't know what to do with
this. You're supposed to count it
before you take it.
Pimentel takes the Envelope and the rest of the money. He
looks in, shuffles the money, the puts the envelope in his
pocket.
ROMERO
You will have the green light.
They get up, walk towards the door. Pimentel stops.
ROMERO
Now that that's out of the way,
there is something you have to do
first. Same amount, but when it's
done. A guy named Warkowitz. Some
hard ass gun smuggler.
PIMENTEL
We haven't seen him in Five years.
He got us some guns for our Jefe
before. Class A shit.
ROMERO
He's been supplying Martinez for a
good Fifteen Years, Hernandez too.
Recently, he took his business with
the other families.
Pimentel takes a deep breath, and thinks for a second. He
doesn't say anything.
ROMERO
Go down to where he roams around,
and tune him up.
PIMENTEL
They're Russians. If they catch us,
they will turn us into breakfast.
ROMERO
Nothing to worry. Warkowitz is an
independent contractor. He doesn't
fly with any families like we do.
He's got two friends with him,
that's it.
PIMENTEL
That doesn't sound right. A big
time gun supplier flying solo.
ROMERO
He's not exactly trust worthy, so
that's maybe why his own people
don't want anything to do with him.
I don't know.
PIMENTEL
I know about that. We were warned
to stay away from big business with
him. We didn't and...
ROMERO
At the Amondingo Apartments, there
will be a man, his name is Jose
Lopez. He will be doing a deal with
Warkowitz in the Second Floor
Bathroom. All you have to do is go
there and wait for the deal to go
through. Nothing else. We can't
risk a gang war right now.
PIMENTEL
Who the fuck is Jose Lopez?
ROMERO
He does deals and makes what money
he can on the side. He is the
middle man for Lopez and his
friends.
PIMENTEL
A bum selling guns. Are we going to
have any problem with him?
ROMERO
He and Warkowitz will make the
deal. There shouldn't be any
problem. He is low-key. He buys,
then gets the hell out. He's more
trust worthy than anyone on this
side. See Cabron! Thousand here,
Thousand there. I take care of you.
Pimentel puts the empty Beer Bottle on the credenza, then
leaves. Jimenez stays, talks to Romero's daughter, when, a
hand pulls him away from the door and the Daughter.
EXT. ROMERO'S FRONT YARD
Jimenez and Pimentel exit the front yard. They cross the
street.
PIMENTEL
What the fuck you doing?
JIMENEZ
What? That chula is hot. She might
be interested.
PIMENTEL
Romero will cut your balls off when
he finds out you wanna fuck his
daughter.
JIMENEZ
He's not gonna know anything.
They get in. Jimenez lights a Cigarette and turns the Radio
on. Pimentel pops the lid on a beer bottle, takes a swig, and
drives off.
INT. HERNANDEZ'S HOME - LIVING ROOM
Hernandez's Home is lavishly decorated. Expensive all around.
Something a chief of Police couldn't afford.
What looks like Three Hundred year old furniture, are set up
in his living room to give the most space.
Hernandez is dining at his table. His maid brings in more
food. Pimentel and Jimenez come in, followed by two more
guys.
HERNANDEZ
Come in guys. Have a seat.
They all sit around the Table. Pimentel takes out a box of
Cuban Cigars. He opens it and offers Hernandez one, who takes
one.
PIMENTEL
Those are the real thing, Jefe.
HERNANDEZ
I can tell. These are bad boys.
He calls his butlers. They come out with huge trays of food.
HERNANDEZ
Good developments so far. The feds
know nothing. The shoot out down by
the docks last week, nothing. All
we have is a few shells and lots of
dead bodies.
JIMENEZ
I bet those on the east side won't
be too happy.
HERNANDEZ
Yeah, but without proof, guess
what.
PIMENTEL
Fuck them on the east side. And the
north. They are scared cause we are
coming to their side.
HERNANDEZ
Hold it Luis. Not so fast. They may
be scared, but they are still too
powerful.
PIMENTEL
It's nothing. We go in, do it, we
come out.
HERNANDEZ
I told you before. Don't get any
ideas. You hear?
A very beautiful, tall brunette walks in. She is wearing
cleaning clothes. Pimentel stares. Unable to break the gaze.
She goes in to the Hall.
PIMENTEL
Who is she Jefe?
He shakes Hernandez's arm, who is trying to eat.
HERNANDEZ
What...Oh, that's Kelly. She is one
of the cleaning ladies. Good friend
of my Wife's. You like her?
PIMENTEL
Of course I like her.
EXT. LA HOLLA RANCH - WEST CORNFIELDS - DAY
It's a whole new day at the Fields. Rain is falling, covering
the whole area for miles. Workers are in the fields, picking
and planting. Pimentel and Jimenez are at the field, doing
the same thing.
PIMENTEL
When do we leave?
JIMENEZ
In an Hour.
PIMENTEL
You get everything set. We will
bring Marco and Jose.
JIMENEZ
Have you ever been to a Drug deal?
PIMENTEL
Once.
JIMENEZ
How was it?
PIMENTEL
I don't know. I never made the
deal. It was these two guys. I was
security.
Jimenez looks around the field. Pimentel does too. It's
endless rows and rows of Corn. Pears to the south. Apples,
pears and mangos to the east and west.
PIMENTEL
I can't stand this anymore. 6 years
of doing the same thing. Only
reason we work here is...I don't
know why we still work here.
JIMENEZ
Where would you want to be?
PIMENTEL
Anywhere else. This is a shit job.
JIMENEZ
We can't just leave like that.
Frederico went to Hell and back to
get us this job. We owe him all we
have for this job.
PIMENTEL
We don't owe him shit. We are
grateful for him giving us these
jobs. You start owing somebody,
they start owning you.
JIMENEZ
So you want to go to the US. That
is great. Man we'll be out of here
so fast we'll...
Pimentel thinks while downing a Corona.
PIMENTEL
We're not going anywhere.
JIMENEZ
Now you want to stay?.
PIMENTEL
How are we going to get inside
there? They must have at least Five
armed guys with them.
JIMENEZ
We'll think of something.
PIMENTEL
To have such a big business, such
class and Style. One day I will
have all that class and style.
JIMENEZ
The beer is getting to your head.
PIMENTEL
Why is that?
JIMENEZ
That has got to be a One in a
Million shot. You never know what
can happen.
PIMENTEL
You don't want to do it? Maybe you
should stay here with these guys.
JIMENEZ
What I'm saying is, we might not
come out alive. That means we have
to be careful.
PIMENTEL
(Wipes his face)
Why would you die? If we do
business the right way, there will
be no deaths. We don't need any
more souls over our heads.
JIMENEZ
Maybe you won't, but I'm going to
the US. And I'm becoming rich
there.
PIMENTEL
And how will you do that? Don't you
know that you need papers to stay
there? Passports, Green Cards,
Pictures and all that Stuff.
JIMENEZ
There are ways to get all that. If
you get all the right connections.
A passport here. Green Card there.
You got it.
PIMENTEL
Most likely you will get killed.
People get killed over that sort of
thing. More likely, a long jail
term. I heard about that.
JIMENEZ
Once we get to the US, I will
become a King.
PIMENTEL
Just stop bullshitting. We'll see
what happens after today.
JIMENEZ
I'm telling you. We need to grab
this chance.
PIMENTEL
So did you see that tal brunette at
Jefe's?
JIMENEZ
Man, you're in love with that
woman. You have been looking at her
for a week.
PIMENTEL
That is the beauty right there. Her
Voice, Her Hair, everything.
Perfect. Perfect.
JIMENEZ
Man, she is so much taller than
you. Probably more than a foot.
PIMENTEL
That doesn't have anything to do
with anything. Height doesn't make
you a fucking shit. It's how you
treat her.
JIMENEZ
Well...that is a big step that you
have to learn.
PIMENTEL
I know how to treat women.
JIMENEZ
Can you say Sonia?
PIMENTEL
She was already married. She never
told me.
INT. BATHROOM - DAY
In the bathroom, a single Stall door is closed. In the stall,
leaning against the wall is a man. This burly, laid-back man
has downy black hair, light brown eyes and a snub nose. He
wears an old Red Sox Baseball Cap and a red, torn shirt.
His name is Jose Lopez. Lopez is in a stall, waiting. Through
the door come in Four Guys dressed in black Trench Coats. As
the door slams shut, the stall door opens and, Lopez, who is
holding a gun, walks out.
LOPEZ
Gentlemen...before we get to
business, get rid of your guns.
The Guys look at each other, stunned and careful. They take
out their guns and throw them into a Sink.
WARKOWITZ
I trust you will do the same. I
can't do business like that.
LOPEZ
Got to be careful. Lots of Fucks
who look to take advantage of you.
It won't happen to me again.
They obey and throw those into the sink as well. A man, Lenny
Warkowitz, puts his Briefcase down. Lopez watches the
Briefcase.
WARKOWITZ
We just came here to do business.
We ain't going to Fuck you over.
We're Legitimate Businessmen. I
don't let shit like that happen on
my watch.
Lopez puts his gun into the sink as well. Slowly. Surely. He
watches the other men.
LOPEZ
I'm a careful man.
WARKOWITZ
Do you have the Product?
LOPEZ
It's in the stall over there. One
of you can go and convince
yourself.....only One.
Warkowitz nods to one man, who slowly stumbles towards the
stall and picks up the Briefcase. Lopez eyes him carefully.
The man meets Lopez's eyes, then focuses on the case. He puts
it on the Toilet Seat and opens it. The Case is full of Packs
of Cocaine. He closes it and moves back, slowly.
Lopez still follows him, as the man leans in to Warkowitz's
ear. The man nods to Warkowitz, who switches positions
towards the Sinks.
WARKOWITZ
Do you mind....(Points To the
Sinks)?
Lopez doesn't say anything. He only motions "OK" with his
head. Warkowitz slowly moves, keeping a distance from Lopez.
Lopez moves from Warkowitz's men, so that Warkowitz's covers
him from them.
WARKOWITZ
Refreshment. Long trip here! The
planes these days. Don't give you
shit.
Warkowitz turns the tap on and washes his face. Lopez eyes
him carefully. He rinses out his mouth. An unusual way to
start a deal, but it's Warkowitz's way.
WARKOWITZ
Don't worry. I'm not going to take
the guns.
LOPEZ
Then we can do business. I'm due
somewhere else, so if we can get
this over with as soon as possible,
that would be good.
WARKOWITZ
Are we not going to wait for the
others to show up? After all,
they're your Business partners.
LOPEZ
They all have faith in me. No need
to baby-sit.
Warkowitz looks at one of his men. The man comes forward,
opens a case and gives Lopez an eyeful of the green inside.
Lopez shuffles a pack, throws it in, convinced. The case is
closed.
LOPEZ
You guys have some good shit. Wanna
sell more, come to me anytime.
WARKOWITZ
Not right now. We will keep in
touch.
Warkowitz nods to one of his men, but instead they raise
their Machine Guns they had under their Trench Coats.
Lopez grabs his gun. He is outgunned but still tries to keep
what's his.
The Thugs point their guns at both Warkowitz and Lopez.
LOPEZ
What is this shit?
WARKOWITZ
(to the men)
Stay the fuck away!
THUG
You give us the Coke and Martinez's
money. He will have to learn the
hard way now.
LOPEZ
Who the fuck told you that you can
come here and fuck me like this?
WARKOWITZ
These aren't my guys. I don't let
this shit happen. They want to fuck
me over.
THUG 2
You fuck him over, you Fucked
yourself. Romero sent us.
Lopez had enough. He shoots. The others open fire, hit him a
few times. Lopez hides in a Stall.
Warkowitz runs out, 2 guys following him. The other two run
to the other side.
EXT. PARKING LOT - DAY
Pimentel, Marco, Jose and Jimenez are in the car. Relaxed.
Pimentel opens beers for them and himself.
PIMENTEL
What is with this Fucking Asshole?
I never heard of anybody doing a
deal in a restroom. It's like, you
take a shit, then do the deal. And
powder your ass with piedra.
JIMENEZ
It's one of the most secure places.
PIMENTEL
I hope so.
They hear pops, gunshots, coming from the Building. They grab
their guns, and sprint up the stairs.
INT. APARTMENTS - HALLWAY
Warkowitz comes running. He collapses.
PIMENTEL
Marco. Get his gun. Watch him.
Jimenez checks the stalls and finds Lopez, bleeding heavily.
JIMENEZ
The case is gone.
Pimentel shouts something inaudible to Jimenez. Jimenez steps
into the stall. Jimenez levels his shotgun and BOOM,
splatters Lopez's spine on the wall behind him.
PIMENTEL
Vamos. Marco, get all the piedra.
We got to get the buying money.
EXT. APARTMENTS - DAY
The Parking Lot is crammed with Mini-Morris sized cars.
Pimentel's Gang runs down the stairs, just as Warkowitz's car
exits the Apartment Gate. They get into their Car.
And the tires Screech as the Car speeds off, through the gate
and after Warkowitz.
EXT. MAIN STREET - DAY
The Street is crowded with Cars, waiting for the light to
change. Warkowitz's car speeds in between the cars.
Pimentel's car appears from around the corner and tears up on
the Sidewalk, crashing through Ice Cream stands and
Restaurant Tables. Warkowitz's car moves aside onto the
Sidewalk as well.
Pimentel starts firing at them with his UZI. Marco and Jose
do so too. Warkowitz's men fire back. Pedestrians move aside
in Terror. Some old lady faints.
People scream as they run for cover. Warkowitz's car moves up
an incline, and rolls off a ramp, landing on the street
again. Pimentel's car does the same. The cars weave in and
out of the Lanes onto the Sidewalk.
Warkowitz's car squishes and runs people over, as it tears
over the sidewalk. Guns blazing from either car when
Warkowitz's car tire pops, and the car smashes into a Store
Display, turning over onto the roof.
Bystanders hurry to see what happened. Pimentel's car comes
to a screeching stop. They get out just as Warkowitz stumbles
out of the car. Marco shoots a guy standing next to
Warkowitz. Pimentel, switches a new clip and readies his UZI.
The Thug whips around to face Pimentel, his eyes filled with
Terror. He starts shooting at them, downing 20 or more
bystanders who are running for cover.
Marco empties the clip into the thug, blowing him back
towards the Display Window. In the overturned car, a man
moves with a gun, slowly, bleeding. Jimenez shoots him.
Marco and Jose retrieve the Piedra and Money Cases from the
Overturned Car. Bystanders run for cover throughout the
street.
The Thug's body lies, sprawled, in the Display Window.
Pimentel approaches it, looks at him for a second and spits
on him, without any compassion at all, them runs off.
Pimentel's team packs up and the Tires screech as the
oncoming Police Sirens get closer.
EXT. MARTINEZ GOLF COURSE - ENTRANCE GATE - DAY
Pimentel, Jose, Jimenez and Marco are waiting at the Entrance
Gate for someone. Some time passes when, a Butler appears and
shows them through the Gate, and into a lavish, green Golf
Course.
PIMENTEL
Is this where your Jefe lives?
BUTLER
This is where he lives, sir!
JIMENEZ
Class. This is some High Class,
sir! I bet he has a lot of large
assed ladies.
INT. MARTINEZ GOLF COURSE - OFFICE
A Deluxe, yet stylish, Office with the latest in Security
Surveillance and Technical Appliances, with a large number of
Statues and Ancient Collectible Artifacts -- with two large,
serious faced guards, guarding the Entrance door.
The guards move in front of the door. Pimentel and the others
stop in front of them. A voice says something in Spanish,
from somewhere off. The guards nod, then move away.
The Boss-and Owner- Santo Martinez, comes down some very long
and curled steps. His sharp and expensive suit gives him away
as a man not to mess with.
He comes down and shakes hands with all of them.
MARTINEZ
Nice to meet all of you. Finally
Someone who can touch foot to the
Pavement and do something the way
it's supposed to be done.
PIMENTEL
Mr. Martinez...real pleasure to
meet you.
The others shake hands with him.
MARTINEZ
Please....follow me.
Martinez heads for the Bar. Pimentel and the gang move a few
feet forward, still uncomfortable, but taking in the vast
room.
MARTINEZ
Romero tells me very good things
about you. He says you are
Reliable. Something I look to find
in everybody I do business with.
PIMENTEL
Romero Is good to have around!
(glances at Romero)
JIMENEZ
Hell yeah. He's fuckin' good with
business.
MARTINEZ
And of course taking into account
what you did about Warkowitz.
Besides, that garbage had to go.
JIMENEZ
Romero told us he Fucked you Good.
MARTINEZ
It's something best left in the
past.
PIMENTEL
Yeah. That piece of shit wasn't
anything special. He had it coming.
MARTINEZ
(Smiles, loves their Guts
and Determination)
You boys want anything? Scotch?
Beer? Rum? Vodka?....Women?
PIMENTEL
Women and Beer. Don't know about
them, but I'm thirsty as a Fucking
Burro.
Martinez pops open a Bottle of Beer and slides it to
Pimentel, who immediately takes a swig. He pours a Scotch to
him and Jose, Marco and Jimenez.
MARTINEZ
You guys are the kind of people I
need. Someone who works as good as
you.
JIMENEZ
We already got jobs with Hernandez.
But we can always help out. You are
good friends with our jefe.
Still enormously overwhelmed with the Whole Place and what
happened in the city, the gang sit down with Martinez and
Romero, who just arrived.
ROMERO
What did I tell you Jefe? Real guts
on these guys.
MARTINEZ
Yes, but it's something people
around here don't seem to have.
(Looks at Romero)
Except when they are holding a gun
in their cowardly hands.
MARTINEZ
So, how did it go down? I heard you
nearly got killed, Jose?
JOSE
Yeah, but it's not a big deal. One
guy had a shotgun when we burst in.
He missed. It was out of instinct
that I shot him.
MARCO
I don't understand what happened.
Who was with who?
MARTINEZ
Those people are all out for money.
They popped in on Lopez and were
looking to take him out.
JIMENEZ
What kind of shit was he in?
MARTINEZ
Old Problems. Sadly, some people
love to hang on to the past.
Romero drops in between them. He's got a wad of money. He
starts counting it on the counter. Martinez stares at Romero.
ROMERO
Two Thousand Pesos each.
Martinez, locked in silent thought, raises his hand to
Romero, who stops talking.
MARTINEZ
I like good people like these.
These days you don't find them
anymore. You come to me when you
ready to work.
Pimentel looks off to the side, at two people. A man and a
woman who are just exiting. Martinez notices Pimentel's look.
MARTINEZ
They work for me. Lawyers. Blood
suckers.
Pimentel and the others pocket the money.
PIMENTEL
There is something else, other than
Warkowitz in our trunk.
Pimentel puts the Briefcase he brought down on the Table and
opens it. Martinez moves closer to inspect it. He likes what
he sees.
MARTINEZ
That is the Coke...and their Money.
You know, I just needed Warkowitz
tuned up. You did a good job. You
put yourself in a lot of Danger for
me.
PIMENTEL
That was nothing. The easiest job
so far.
Pimentel slides the Briefcase over to Martinez. Martinez says
nothing, but stares at the case.
PIMENTEL
That is their money. This case is
yours. We almost died for this
stuff.
MARTINEZ
I don't know what to tell you. I'm
stunned. You know, I built up mu
turf honestly, while staying loyal
to my boss. Lots of people aren't
loyal these days.
MARTINEZ
I can't disagree on my part on
that. Start working for me right
away, and maybe some day you guys
can have your own turf.
JIMENEZ
Mr. Martinez. I can't tell you how
grateful we are that you want ti
give us jobs here and that you want
to help our boss.
MARTINEZ
Greatness has it's own reward. You
showed me that when you walked in
here a moment ago.
MARTINEZ
See your boss has also helped me on
several occasions. He's the reason
I found out about you guys.
Hernandez is a very good business
man. Very respectable. Romero,
please go down with a couple of
guys and get Mr. Warkowitz. Bring
him inside. I'll be down in a
minute.
Romero leaves with a couple of guys, who have been sitting in
a corner.
INT. CAR
Pimentel, Jimenez and two other guys, Jose and Marco sit in
the car, drinking Beer and smoking Cigarettes.
Mexican music is playing on the radio.
PIMENTEL
We drop Warkowitz here. Then what?
MARCO
If everything goes as planned,
Guzman will call a truce.
PIMENTEL
Who is to say that he doesn't come
looking for us anyway. He can do
shit.
JIMENEZ
If he does, you know hernandez
don't roll like that. Jefe will
find something to pin on them.
MARCO
Then there will really be a gang
war on the streets.
Jose notices a man waving from the Entrance of the house.
JOSE
At any rate, we might need to find
new jobs.
They look and see Mendes waving. Jimenez blinks the lights a
few times.
The Car begins to move, and as it creeps up to the house,
Jose and Marco get out of the moving car and disappear behind
the house.
INT. CAR
Pimentel points to the Loading Dock door.
PIMENTEL
There.
Marco and Jose shoot him a concerned look.
EXT. BACK OF WAREHOUSE - ENTRANCE - NIGHT
Marco and Jose approach the corner. Marco puts on Sunglasses
and a Dark Hat.
Jose hands him a Black Blanket and Marco runs over to the
Camera, throwing the Blanket over the Camera.
Jose sneaks to the open door, Marco falls in step with him.
They enter the Warehouse.
Standing outside is Jimenez, Car running and parked backwards
next to him, trunk open.
JIMENEZ
Where were you?
MARCO
With your Mother.
Pimentel gets out, brings a Crowbar with him, pries open the
crate. They start loading the stuff into the car.
PIMENTEL
What took so long? We were almost
going to go without you. Romero
would have had a good time taking
care of the both of you.
JOSE
What are you talking about? We got
the box. What the fuck?
JIMENEZ
Alright. Don't get mad. Maybe it
was a coincidence. They moved the
box when they found out how Marco
smelled.
MARCO
Fuck you.
They got the Coke loaded halfway up, still fighting about the
coincidences.
A sound turns Jose's head to the direction of a muzzle,
pointed straight at them.
Somebody shouts "Over There" in Spanish. It's a guard,
dressed in black.
More guards appear, surround them and cock their weapons.
PIMENTEL
Who the hell are you?
The guard doesn't answer. He stands there, among the other
guards, silent as the Night.
A moment passes, Jimenez and Pimentel look at each other then
at Jose and Marco who do the same.
Marco is about to say something when a body steps out of the
open Dock Door.
It falls under the light and reveals itself to be Romero.
JIMENEZ
Romero. See guys. All a big
misunderstanding.
ROMERO
I wish it was, my Friends.
JIMENEZ
You are working with them?
ROMERO
They work for me.
PIMENTEL
What...
ROMERO
....And they do very good business.
I would hate to lose any of these
guys. Nobody's gonna miss you guys.
MARCO
What are we?
ROMERO
You are an insurance policy. It's
only business.
PIMENTEL
I knew something was up with you.
ROMERO
You think I was actually going to
do business with you filthy
lowlifes? Hernandez and the rest of
those Cocksuckers maybe. Me, I have
standards.
PIMENTEL
You are doing business with us.
ROMERO
There are a few reasons why I sent
you here. One - to test out my new
security system, to see how loyal
my guards are. Two - now that you
broke into my Warehouse, I can
raise the insurance fund that I
will get.
JIMENEZ
You pay us two thousand for this
shit job. How much are you making?
PIMENTEL
(Turns to Romero)
if you are trying to frighten us,
you are wasting your time. I no
more believe in your power than in
flying Tacos.
So, if after all this you are
finished, I'd or we'd like to go
home. Sorry that this didn't work
out.
ROMERO
You will have your night. The owner
of a Marijuana Plant, Consuelo, has
been snubbing us for the past few
months. I have been patient until
now. Go there, get the payment,
then come back. You do this, I let
you live.
PIMENTEL
And this is all we have to do?
ROMERO
Yes. Like I said before. I give my
word, and never break it. You will
get paid for this job and that one.
And not one word to you boss about
this.
PIMENTEL
And what did Hernandez say to all
this?
ROMERO
Fuck Hernandez! Attempt to run, you
die. Attempt anything else, you
die.
PIMENTEL
Well then pig, you fuck us over
once more like this, and I will
personally make sure your
generation never existed.
INT. MICHOACAN USED CARS LOT - DAY
Pimentel and Jimenez are looking at some Cars. Marco and Jose
are checking another one out, then join Pimentel and Jimenez.
PIMENTEL
Pull your head out of your ass.
Dogs do that, Vicente.
Taken aback by the change in tone, Vicente swallows.
VICENTE
Err...
PIMENTEL
You have all of the characteristics
of a Coyote Vicente, all except
loyalty.
There is a definite change in temperature.
PIMENTEL (CONT'D)
People like Coyotes Vicente, for
the main reason that they're loyal.
There is a problem, an obvious problem.
PIMENTEL (CONT'D)
I would like answers, but I am not
in the mood for asking questions.
We'll keep bringing you the cars,
you sell them.
Jimenez takes a step to the side and moves his eyes in a
sideways action implying the guilt lies with Vicente.
Vicente catches this and opens his mouth to protest. He then
hands Pimentel a folded up list. Pimentel takes it and opes
it.
On the note are scribbled names of American and Foreign Cars.
Pimentel hands the note to Jimenez.
PIMENTEL (CONT'D)
You'll get the cars in two to four
days.
EXT. CASINO
Pimentel new 1966 Lincoln is parked in front of the casino.
INT. PIMENTEL'S CAR
Pimentel is in the car with Jimenez and Jose. The car is
parked at the feet of the Casino. Loud music comes from the
Casino Floor, we can hear it all the way to Pimentel's Car.
Pimentel is extremely angry about seeing some guy pass on the
street, he recognizes. He has a quick look down the street.
The man stops, looks in Pimentel's direction.
MAN
What the fuck you lookin' at?
PIMENTEL
I know you. What's your name?
MAN
What the fuck it matters to you?
PIMENTEL
I need to know, or I can just kill
you now.
MAN
Benito Juarez.
Pimentel realizes who it is, but double checks.
PIMENTEL
From Chihuahua?
JUAREZ
Yeah. What the fuck you want from
me?
Pimentel takes out his gun. Juarez Bolts from where he was
standing. Jimenez cranks the car, and it leaves skid marks.
They pursue Juarez on the main street. Juarez turns into an
alley. Jimenez turns into it and sees Juarez running.
Juarez removes a gun from his jacket and fires. Pimentel
takes out an UZI. He loads it and fires. Juarez runs in a
panic.
The car catches up to him.
JUAREZ
No me mates. No me mates.
Pimentel empties the whole clip into Juarez's back. Juarez
sprawls on the ground.
The car stops, Pimentel gets out and takes Juarez's backpack
he had with him. The car drives off.
EXT. CASINO
Moments later, Pimentel's car pulls up to the Casino. Seconds
later, Antonio Barraco, the man who they brought to the
Casino, walks out.
He has a few girls with him. They hug him and kiss him as
they approach Pimentel's car. The girls and Barraco get in.
The car leaves.
INT. PIMENTEL'S CAR
PIMENTEL
How was your stay at the Casino?
BARRACO
Good. We had a great night.
(Looks at the girls)
Didn't we girls.
The girls giggle.
PIMENTEL
Mr. Martinez said you are a great
business Partner.
BARRACO
He did? Say it isn't so.
EXT. PIMENTEL'S CAR
Jimenez turns on the Freeway ramp. They ascend on the
Freeway.
Pimentel's car gets off the freeway. At the next light, it
makes a right turn, then enters the Steel Factory.
INT. HERNANDEZ GOLF COURSE - OFFICE - DAY
Hernandez is waiting. Pimentel, Marco, Jimenez and Jose come
in. He offers them drinks, which they gladly accept. They sit
down.
HERNANDEZ
Take my Daughter to the Hair Salon
downtown. She has an appointment. I
would do it myself, but an
appointment calls my attention.
JIMENEZ
Your friend Martinez is very
thankful for what we did.
HERNANDEZ
He helped me when no one else
would. Now I'm returning the
generosity he showed me. After
Sixteen years. He is a very good
friend of mine. I respect him a
lot.
Pimentel looks at Hernandez. It's like he can tell something
is up with Hernandez.
PIMENTEL
Sixteen years. You don't see a
problem with this?
HERNANDEZ
What kinda problem?
PIMENTEL
That long, and he wants something
from you now. That's weird.
HERNANDEZ
I'd say that's definitely kinda
weird, but for now, never mind.
He's a good friend.
PIMENTEL
He runs the East side, right? We'll
go scope things out.
Hernandez grabs Pimentel's arm.
HERNANDEZ
Listen. I told you before. The East
side and the North are off limits.
They're too powerful. Doing
something now will start a gang
war.
PIMENTEL
After that thing at the docks, they
ain't got a thing left now. The
West is fighting for power.
HERNANDEZ
I advise you to stay out of the
East and North. I will take care of
them in my own way, when the time
comes. Understand?
Pimentel drinks from a Corona. He can sense Hernandez's fear.
PIMENTEL
I guess you are the Boss.
HERNANDEZ
(yelling)
You're damn right I am.
He reconsiders his tone of voice.
HERNANDEZ
If you listen to me, we'll get to
the top very quick and stay there
forever.
Hernandez's Daughter comes down the rounded steps. She's
about 25 years old, blond hair, blue eyes, and short.
Her name is Yolanda Hernandez. She runs up to Hernandez, who
gets up, and gives him a big kiss on the cheek and a hug.
HERNANDEZ
My little baby. I missed you.
YOLANDA
Papa! I missed you at the game!
Hernandez shakes her off and turns her in the direction of
the others. Jimenez notices Yolanda as her butt bounces up
and down. He stares...
HERNANDEZ
These are the guys who will take
you to the Hair Salon. Then they
are going to bring you by your
mother's.
YOLANDA
I will wait by the car.
She runs out, grabbing her backpack as she does. She shoots
Jimenez a Naughty look.
HERNANDEZ
Take her whereever she wants to go.
PIMENTEL
We'll take care of it. Don't you
worry about a thing Jefe.
HERNANDEZ
Just make sure to keep her safe.
That's all I'm going to tell you.
And while she's in there, go over
to this guy De Silva, and see why
the payments are two months late.
PIMENTEL
Don't worry. Nothing will happen to
her. She's safe with us.
Pimentel, unyielding, watches as Yolanda runs out of the
room. He moves out too.
EXT. HAIR SALON - DAY
Yolanda walks out of the Hair Salon. She enters the Car and
flips down the mirror. She takes out her Lipstick and applies
it to her lips.
INT. PIMENTEL'S CAR
Yolanda looks herself over on the Mirror. She applies makeup
and brushes her hair.
PIMENTEL
We gonna take you to your mother's
place now.
YOLANDA
I want to go to the Hidalgo Club.
Do you know where it is?
PIMENTEL
What about your Mother's?
YOLANDA
Don't be scared. We have two hours
until I got to be at my Mother's.
PIMENTEL
Hidalgo Club it is.
The Car starts and Jimenez does a U-turn. They screech off.
EXT. HIDALGO CLUB - DAY
The car comes to a Stop. Yolanda wants to get out, but
Pimentel grabs her shoulder and stops her.
YOLANDA
Hey.... Watch your hands pepe.
PIMENTEL
Wait Here. He's going to go check
the inside.
JIMENEZ
What's going on?
PIMENTEL
What do you mean what's going on?
Check the bar.
JIMENEZ
Hey Pimentel. We should stop by the
Dance floor too. It will be fun.
PIMENTEL
Just go check. We can't run any
risks. And take Marco with you.
Jimenez nods to Marco, who slams a clip in his UZI and hides
it in his coat. Marco gets out and opens the door for
Yolanda.
She gets out and they walk her to the door. Yolanda slips
some Coke into her purse. Jimenez and Marco see it.
INT. HIDALGO CLUB
Yolanda is On the Dance Floor. Marco and Jimenez are sitting
in a Booth, chatting, watching that no harm comes to her.
Through the window, we see Pimentel's Lincoln drive off.
Yolanda continues dancing, now with some guys prancing around
her.
Jimenez alerts Marco, who shakes off the warning. Jimenez
gets up, walks calmly over to Yolanda and shakes a guy off of
her.
Yolanda throws him a look.
JIMENEZ
What's up Chikita?
YOLANDA
What do you want?
JIMENEZ
You like dancing?
YOLANDA
What gives you that idea?
JIMENEZ
You dance good. You look like you
love it.
YOLANDA
Then I do. Why do you ask? Are you
interested?
Jimenez is dancing next to her. Well, he's more jumping from
side to side. He actually looks more like the Energizer
Bunny.
JIMENEZ
What do you do?
YOLANDA
I work down town. In Human
Resources.
JIMENEZ
You gonna be like a Teacher or
Something?
YOLANDA
Where do you get that?
JIMENEZ
Lots of kids these days become some
kind of Teachers. Women love to
become Teachers.
YOLANDA
(kinda likes him) I'll be a
Interior Designer. I always liked
that kind of stuff.
Jimenez puts his arm around her. She casually brushes it off.
YOLANDA
(Lying)
Don't get the wrong idea.
JIMENEZ
Now you're talking. I like this.
You'll warm up. You just wait.
Out of the side Curtain, up on the stage, a man with a Sub
Machine gun pops out, starts shooting at the Dance Floor, and
runs down the few steps.
Now on the Dance Floor, he looks for Yolanda. Another man
pops out. Marco and Jimenez have taken cover. Marco spots
Yolanda, face down on the ground.
The Gunman has his weapon trained on them, and out of sheer
instinct, Marco shoots the Man, who drops like a bag of
Potatoes.
Yolanda moves a little. Jimenez sees her move. She's about to
stand up, but Marco moves his arm, stops her from getting up.
Marco runs across the Dance Floor, when more Gunmen show up
and start shooting. He kills one Gunman, and pulls Yolanda to
safety.
Through the window, we see Pimentel's car pull up. Jimenez
and Marco grab Yolanda, and bolt for the door, shooting their
way through.
From the Car, Pimentel, Jose and Jesus open fire with UZIs,
shattering the big Show Window and killing the thugs. From
the back some more come. They are also killed.
EXT. HIDALGO CLUB
Yolanda makes for the car, and slings in through the open
Rooftop. Marco and Jimenez skip out of the door, firing
inside the Building through the door.
Jimenez jumps in the car. Marco throws the UZI inside the car
and Launches to the Front seat.
The Tires leave skid marks as it screeches off. The gunmen
run out and start shooting after them.
INT. HERNANDEZ GOLF COURSE
The room is highly decorated. The camera centers on
Hernandez, who stares incredulously at Antonio, his main guy,
who is sitting next to Pimentel, Marco, Jose and Jimenez.
HERNANDEZ
What Happened?
ANTONIO
I don't know those guys.
HERNANDEZ
What were they doing on my side?
ANTONIO
Take is easy Jefe, Carajo. Nothing
serious happened. I had my guys
check the whole place before these
guys here, came.
HERNANDEZ
Your guys? Since when do you run
your own operations?
ANTONIO
My guys are contacts down there.
HERNANDEZ
Then use your guys to find out who
those guys were.
ANTONIO
They were those guys that got away
from the Docks, and one that
survived last weeks's Warkowitz
job.
HERNANDEZ
What were you doing down there
Antonio? I told you to go and run
by the finance department.
ANTONIO
This one guy tipped me off someone
was making a deal.
HERNANDEZ
(ranting)
So you knew this was going to
happen? Are you shitting me or are
you serious about going off on your
own?
ANTONIO
You saying...I'm not being honest
with you Hernandez?
Two of Hernandez's Bodyguards come in. Marco and Jose slip
their hands closer to their belts. The guards stop, flanking
Antonio.
HERNANDEZ
(Quietly and Carefully) let's just
say, that things weren't exactly
like you said they would be. That
deal you set up with Foreman, stall
him. Tell him to wait.
Antonio gives Hernandez a Cold, Hard look, full of Hate. He
can't just break the deal up. Foreman will go nuts when he
finds out!
He gets up to Leave, nods to the Guards. The guards separate,
Letting Antonio pass through.
HERNANDEZ
You go off on your own, you're
against me then. You're against all
of us then.
Antonio gets to the door. The guards join him. Antonio Stops.
ANTONIO
What's that supposed to mean?
HERNANDEZ
What do you think it means? I'm
serving you notice right now, while
everything is still peaceful. A
warning.
Antonio, getting mad, shifts his focus back and forth. He's
holding a Golf Club in his hand.
ANTONIO
You know what....You work for
Romero now. Your time is up. Cross
me and...! This is my warning.
With Martinez saying nothing, Antonio goes out the door with
the Two Guards. The door slams shut. Hernandez sits in his
chair. Jose runs over and pours him whiskey.
MARTINEZ
Thanks Jose.
(To Pimentel)
We're gonna have to watch him from
now on. He'll turn to Tapio and
Romero for sure.
PIMENTEL
Yeah, but who knows who he's
working for now? Could be all kinds
of fucks.
JIMENEZ
A wrong move could bring out a gang
war. We could be caught right in
the middle.
MARTINEZ
I'm going to have you guys work
directly for me right now, now that
Antonio's gone, I will need someone
like you guys.
PIMENTEL
It'll be a pleasure Mr. Martinez.
HERNANDEZ
Go up to Foreman's turf - have a
look around. See who's working up
there. Go to him and offer him to
work for me. His business is
failing, but his Turf is an
important route for Rerouting
drugs. Don't try to talk with
bullets. It ain't gonna get you
anywhere and will only give me lots
of shit to take care of.
JIMENEZ
We control that part, we basically
control all of western Michoacan?
HERNANDEZ
That's right. Then go to the
Albertos Brothers. Tell them that
Vicente Salazar broke off a deal
with them. Knowing the Albertos,
without assurance, they will go to
war. But stay out of the North and
East. I told you before. I'm
telling you again.
PIMENTEL
(unyielding, not impressed)
Albertos, Salazar then Foreman.
INT. MICHOACAN ZOO - DAY
The backstage area of the zoo is void of any workers. Lots of
equipment covers the area. It's semi-dark, but moist. A man
moves through the area.
INT. TANK ROOM
The man comes into a large room, with a giant Water Tank. On
the top, are a few guys waiting for him. The man climbs some
ladder.
When he gets to the top, a hand reaches down and pulls him
up. There are Pimentel, Jimenez, Marco and Jose and Trujillo.
PIMENTEL
I thought the deal was done?
SALAZAR
We could start over again. New
chance.
PIMENTEL
Since last time, all business has
been broken off.
SALAZAR
Come on man. I'm fighting for my
life here.
PIMENTEL
You should have fought a little
harder. Tell you what. My Jefe has
me down to sell the Twenty Five
cars from the last time. Are you
sure?
SALAZAR
Man...sure am glad to have my life
back. My partner and I, both of us.
Pimentel waves to Marco and Trujillo. They drag somebody from
behind a curtain.
PIMENTEL
You wish to still purchase the
Parts?
SALAZAR
Yes. I told you.
PIMENTEL
Is that your Partner.
Marco holds the man, while Jose stabs him in his arm. They
push the man into the Tank. The man makes a splash, then
tries to swim to the edge.
Blood seeps into the water. Suddenly -- a Great White Shark
lunges from the bottom, jumps into the air with Salazar's
Partner in it's jaws -- completely out of the water.
It lands with a great splash, wetting Salazar. His partner
briefly surfaces, tries to call for help, and is dragged
under.
PIMENTEL
The bulk of the Parts will arrive
next week. Bring the Buy Money and
the Money you owe to Mr. Martinez.
The betrayals stop today -- our
collections begin. Do this or join
your partner at the bottom.
Salazar frantically looks at all the men. He skips down the
ladder, falls at the bottom, then runs like hell out of the
Tank Room.
PIMENTEL
That was the Salazar. Vamos to the
Albertos.
EXT. ROMERO'S WAREHOUSE - DAY
Four Cars, trunks and doors opening, come to a screeching
halt. Pimentel's Impala right behind them. The men get out
and arm themselves with Assault Rifles, Shotguns and Machine
Guns.
INT. ALBERTOS'S WAREHOUSE
Cubans and Peruvians charge at the door with their guns. As
they approach the Large Hangar-Like door --
EXT. ALBERTOS'S WAREHOUSE
-- one of Pimentel's men aims a Rocket Launcher at the Door.
The Rocket blows apart the door, with a few of the Cubans
behind it, granting passage into the Warehouse.
INT. ALBERTOS'S WAREHOUSE
The large Lights on the Ceiling are turned on. Cubans are
everywhere, Machine Guns in their hands. Pimentel's men open
fire on the Albertos Men.
Armando, Albertos jefe, Shot through the head, crashes down
into a Dumpster below. A gunfight opens up quickly. Rinaldo
runs to the back.
Rinaldo, Armando's second in command, makes his way to his
office, wounded. He limps heavily, as he disappears behind
the door.
INT. RINALDO'S OFFICE
Rinaldo slams the door shut, locks it and retreats to his
chair. He holds his stomach, where the bullet hit. From his
chair, he fumbles in the desk's Filing Drawers, Fishing out
tons of documents.
The gunfire outside his room, suddenly stops. Rinaldo is
sweating pools of sweat.
RINALDO
Armando?
No Answer. He fumbles in is coat pocket, takes out a Zippo
Lighter and holds a Document near it. The gunfire resumes for
a short while.
The Door is blown away. Pimentel and the guys storm in. On
the desk, documents are burning in the wastebaskets.
Rinaldo is throwing more in. Jesus shoots Rinaldo in the
hand. Rinaldo drops the document.
The guys move in, surround Rinaldo and drag him out. Rinaldo
struggles to get free.
INT. ALBERTO'S WAREHOUSE
They drag Rinaldo past the dead bodies, to the entrance. They
throw Rinaldo on the ground, and hold him. Two guys force two
short Two by Fours on his palms.
Another two drive two large nails through the Wood and
Rinaldo's Hands. They do the same to his legs. His shirt is
torn off. A guy comes to him, with a Belt Sander in his hand.
He turns it on.
From the inside, they hear a car screech by the open door.
It's Romero and a few guys. They drive off. Pimentel ignores
them.
PIMENTEL
Where is Mr. Hernandez's money?
RINALDO
You fuck. You will pay for this.
Pimentel glances at Jose. Jose lowers the Belt Sander on
Rinaldo's Chest. Blood spatters the two. Rinaldo screams in
agony.
RINALDO (CONT'D)
You will never have it back. It's
ours now. The truck you transported
it with, it was ours.
Jose takes the Sander off, leaving trails of missing skin and
pieces of Flesh.
PIMENTEL
Mr. Hernandez doesn't think so.
That Money? You owe him now.
RINALDO
Of course it's ours. We lure you
into the truck with the money. We
blow it. History Lesson for You.
Except that old Fuck Face was
smarter than Victor hand hoped. Who
the fuck does a deal in a Restroom.
PIMENTEL
Who the fuck is Victor?
RINALDO
You will be in hell before I tell
you.
Jose applies the Belt sander on Rinaldo again. More blood
spatters with skin and Muscle. Jose takes the Sander off.
RINALDO (CONT'D)
I hope your mother will get her ass
ripped by my men.
Pimentel, angered, leaves the Warehouse. Moments later he
backs his Impala into the garage, and Parks the rear over
Rinaldo. He gets out, with a cable in his hand. Rinaldo spits
out blood.
PIMENTEL
Just give us the money. We'll let
you go then.
Rinaldo spits at him. Pimentel moves a lever on the little
Box, and the Impala's back slowly drops. It lowers on
Rinaldo's ribcage, we hear a Crack. Rinaldo breathes quickly.
RINALDO
Please...just let me go. It's all
in there.
PIMENTEL
Yeah. OK, but who is Victor?
RINALDO
He's the guy, that Romero got to
kill all of you.
Rinaldo hesitates. The car lowers even more. Rinaldo coughs
and spits out blood. He strains as he tries to talk.
RINALDO (CONT'D)
The money is in My Office, in the
safe. The guy, Victor, is actually
the head of a Few Families in Lower
Michoacan. He works together with
Martinez's Lawyers and Romero.
This time as the car drops, more ribs crack.
RINALDO (CONT'D)
(In Pain)
he..he told us there was a great
deal of money and Power for us if
we killed you and Hernandez. He
promised us more Territory. That is
all, you Fucking Assholes.
Pimentel pulls down on the lever. The car crushes Rinaldo.
His insides spill through his sides and his mouth.
PIMENTEL
We have to clean the car.
(To Jesus)
Take Marco and Jose. Go get the
money. Meet us here.
The car lifts off. One guy cleans the underside of the car.
The other cars are backed into the garage. They start loading
the cars.
EXT. ROMERO'S WAREHOUSE (MOMENTS LATER)
The cars screech out of the Lot and merge with the oncoming
traffic. Moments later, the whole warehouse Explodes. Debree
cover everything. The cars on the road try to evade the
debree.
INT. BAR - NIGHT
Pimentel grabs a man, Guillarmo by the collar. Guillarmo
screams, but nobody seems to notice.
PIMENTEL
It makes me mad to see you in this
neighborhood. Especially in my
Jefe's Bar. It makes me mad. This
is a bad invasion of Privacy.
He grabs Guillarmo's right hand. Bends his fingers back as
far as possible. Guillarmo squeals. Some guys in the back
laugh. Guillarmo tries to break free, but Pimentel's got him
arm under his armpit.
PIMENTEL
Who ordered the hit last month at
the club?
GUILLARMO
I don't know. I swear.
PIMENTEL
Don't swear. It's bad.
Pimentel bends Guillarmo's fingers even more. Guillarmo's
legs buckle under the intense pain.
PIMENTEL
Swear that you don't know. You
better talk.
Pimentel bends the fingers even further back. To the point of
tearing them off.
GUILLARMO
It was these guys...they are with
Lopez or somebody. Jose Maria and
Antonio Querno. They work with
Martinez and Warkowitz.
PIMENTEL
You swear on your mother's grave
that it's from Martinez and Lopez?
GUILLARMO
I swear to everything I know!
Pimentel lets go of Guillarmo's hand. Guillarmo is weeping on
the floor. Pimentel straightens his suit. A smile appears on
his face.
PIMENTEL
I'm sorry. It was necessary. Lupe,
get him a cab to take him to the
hospital.
Jimenez throws some Hundreds on the table for Guillermo.
INT. THE MAIN PART OF THE BAR. MOMENTS LATER
Pimentel points at a group of drinkers, including a blond
woman. They wave at him.
PIMENTEL
What's this Federale doing in this
bar?
The Federale Guy is terrified. He starts to make his way out,
when Pimentel grabs him.
PIMENTEL
(slapping him on the back)
Only kidding. How is everything? I
trust you got our payment?
FEDERALE
It's good. You will get the stuff
no later than Six PM today.
PIMENTEL
Go drink something. It's on the
house.
Pimentel, Jimenez, Jose and Marco sit at the back in a booth.
Hernandez walks in just then. He is with his Wife.
HERNANDEZ
What did I tell you? I told you to
go talk with Alberto and Salazar.
Now Alberto is dead, Salazar wants
war.
PIMENTEL
Alberto is dead. Rinaldo too. We
can take the West and North now.
HERNANDEZ
I told you not to mess with them.
JIMENEZ
At least we got the lid on tight.
HERNANDEZ
Yeah, but you didn't put it on very
tight. Look at this.
He hands Jimenez a News Paper. Jimenez looks at the front
page.
HERNANDEZ
Looks like they will give a
Statement today. We picked up those
two from the docks today. One of
our guys went undercover.
JIMENEZ
Where are they now?
HERNANDEZ
We're holding them downtown.
They're waiting to be interrogated.
Pimentel gets up. Jimenez and Trujillo too. They run out of
the bar.
INT. POLICE STATION
Pimentel, Jimenez and Trujillo walk through the foyer. There
is no one in the Hallway. Very weird.
They search for the Interrogation room. Trujillo finds it.
INT. INTERROGATION ROOM
Coming in, Pimentel and Trujillo take out guns. Silenced.
They shoot the two witnesses and run out.
INT. HERNANDEZ HOUSE - NIGHT
Marco, Jose and Jesus are sitting at the round table.
Trujillo joins them. Beers and Cigarettes are around them.
PIMENTEL
Do you trust him?
JIMENEZ
He is our informant. How can you
not trust him?
TRUJILLO
I like Guillarmo. He is a trustable
guy.
HERNANDEZ
Don't get too hung up on him. He
may get a bullet soon.
JOSE
You don't trust a guy that behaves
like he's got nothing to lose. Jefe
is right. I say we take care of
him.
JIMENEZ
Martinez has lost so much now.
PIMENTEL
Romero too. And that fuck Antonio.
JIMENEZ
Especially now that he turned his
back on Martinez.
JOSE
What about your girl, Martinez's
Daughter? Or Romero's Daughter?
JIMENEZ
I already went out with Romero's
Daughter. She no good. Martinez's
is much better.
TRUJILLO
She is too. Martinez's daughter is
hot too.
JIMENEZ
We're going out in half an hour.
Finest restaurant in town.
EXT. CAFE - DAY
Pimentel, Jimenez, Marco and Jose are at a cafe, sitting
outside on the Terrace. They are drinking Beers, Coffees and
Sodas.
PIMENTEL
That was close the other day.
Without Jefe, we would be in jail
now.
MARCO
Jefe's secretary gave you a Habeas
Corpus. They have nothing on you
guys.
JIMENEZ
Somebody told them about the
apartment thing three weeks ago.
Nobody else knows about that. Only
Warkowitz survived.
MARCO
Jefe said not to worry. Nobody saw
us anyway.
A man approaches them. He flashes his badge. They stare.
DETECTIVE VALDEZ
Gentlemen. Detective Valdez. We've
met before.
Marco and Jose make a move. The Detective stops them.
DETECTIVE VALDEZ
Don't get up. I'm just passing by.
PIMENTEL
What do you want?
DETECTIVE VALDEZ
The Usual. It's the end of the
month. Our payment for this month.
Usual amount.
Pimentel rolls his eyes. He takes out a wad of cash.
PIMENTEL
I forgot. Here, I got Five Grand.
(To the others)
how much do you have?
The others take out wads. They count and put down the money.
It sums up to Twenty Five Thousand. The Detective reaches
down to get the money.
DETECTIVE VALDEZ
Jeraldo Martinez and his gang have
been working against you for some
time. We shook them down, including
two of Romero's Informants and some
of his Co-Dependents. They are
locked up now. That was a major
bust you fed us. Thank you.
Revitalized mine and my men's
careers.
The Detective shuffles the money. He pockets it.
JOSE
We got word about some new Cowboys
trying to corner the market
downtown. They hang out at
Lencho's.
DETECTIVE VALDEZ
Thank you very much, Gentlemen. The
Detective Leaves.
Pimentel takes a swig from the Beer Bottle. It's almost
empty. He orders another one.
PIMENTEL
That guy. How does he know? Must be
that Warkowitz Prick.
A man approaches them from the Terrace Gate. They all look
his way. It's Trujillo.
TRUJILLO
What, that cop?
JIMENEZ
The guy, Warkowitz. Didn't Martinez
take care of him?
PIMENTEL
All he said was to bring that fuck
into the house. He probably let him
go.
TRUJILLO
I think you're right. We got to do
something about him then.
EXT. GULF OF MEXICO - DAY
A large Yacht floats on the water. It's raining slightly. The
water is weaving the Yacht around. Another Boat creeps up to
the Yacht. Men stand guard on the Yacht, armed with M-16s and
Uzis.
EXT. BOAT - DAY
From inside the boat, Pimentel, Jimenez and Marco exit.
Following them are Trujillo and Jesus. They stop by the
Railing, until the Boat stops next to the Yacht.
PIMENTEL
This what Horacio had in mind?
JIMENEZ
I think so.
On the Yacht, 2 Armed Men walk about and down to the Door,
open it and let Pimentel and the rest on board. The Men lead
Pimentel and the others up.
INT. YACHT ROOM - DAY
The men come in. Pimentel, Jimenez, Marco and Jose stop in
the middle of the room. The Men close the door. By the
Window, stands another man, arms behind his back. His name is
Kenny Walters. He's dressed in a bathrobe. He's around Forty,
heavy set, and has a dark suntan.
WALTERS
Hello Gentlemen. I see you had a
Nice Trip here. Too bad about the
bad weather. I was hoping to bring
out the barbecue, but alas, we're
not so lucky.
JIMENEZ
Very Exotic place you called us to.
WALTERS
I always had a thing for the
Exotics. I don't know, there's
something that draws me to these
places.
PIMENTEL
It's nothing special. Even if you
live here. All this shit with the
mosquito nests, is useless.
WALTERS
(Chuckles) Your government would
never allow me to come here. Let's
make a deal.
JIMENEZ
It's in our boat. But it's all
there.
WALTERS
I need to sell you Thirty Keys.
That's so that I can make this
economically viable. Don't worry.
You can't lose from this deal. We
both make a lot from this.
JIMENEZ
Mr. Hernandez authorized us to buy
Ten keys. That's the most for now.
Walters moves to the Sofa, sits down and offers them to sit.
They sit down.
WALTERS
How about, we split the Kilos. You
get 5 now, and call your Boss. If
he agrees, you get the other 5. We
have a secure phone line here.
There's something about Walters, and Pimentel knows it, but
for some reason, he trusts him, like a parent.
JIMENEZ
Can we sample this "Stuff"?
Walters snaps his fingers, and a briefcase is brought out and
put on the Table. Walters opens it. Jimenez takes a little
and puts it into a bag. Walter watches him.
WALTERS
This is the finest stuff on the
market now. Even the Colombians
have trouble moving this here.
JIMENEZ
We got people back home.
WALTERS
(Nods) That's good. Do not ever try
your own supply, gentlemen. That's
my only word of advice. How much
can you Guarantee me?
JIMENEZ
That depends, Mr. Walters. As I
said, 5 Kilos now. We're in heavy
demand too. It's a slow Process for
now. The whole Cuba wants this
shit. Including Mexico and the
United States.
MARCO
Yeah, you got the Police
everywhere. Ever since that Drug
Crisis last month, they been
jacking up the security. We're
losing three out of five loads now.
WALTERS
I heard about that. They tell me
you guys been flagged down here.
PIMENTEL
Temporary Setback. How about we buy
this Load now, then go back and
discuss the matter with our boss? I
know he would love to further our
business with you.
WALTERS
No Problem. Kenny, will see to the
Transaction. You got good Reps,
Gentlemen. Don't do anything to
fuck them up. It's hard to get them
back. Especially in this business.
He snaps his fingers, and a large guard, Kenny walks out to
the Table. Jimenez puts a bag, full of Money on the Table.
Kenny inspects the money over the Light. He burns one of the
notes. It checks out. He takes one from his wallet and throws
it in.
KENNY
They're Good. (To Another Man)
Bring the goods.
Two men come in, slam 4 large bags onto the Table. Walters
watches Jimenez, as he looks into the Bags. Jimenez gives an
approving nod to Pimentel.
JIMENEZ
We'll be back Mr. Walters.
Marco and Jose pick the bags up. Pimentel and Jimenez follow
them outside.
WALTERS
I'll be expecting you Gentlemen to
return. My Boss, Mr. Tapio will be
happy to do business.
PIMENTEL
You keep this shit (Looks around
Yacht) in good condition. Maybe I
buy it from you.
EXT. YACHT DECK - DAY
The rain is falling somewhat steadily. Pimentel leads the way
down to the Gate, walks across the bridge and onto their
Boat.
Jimenez and the rest follow. They disappear under the Roof.
The Yacht pulls off and disappears in the cover of rain.
EXT. BOAT HOUSE - OPEN CABIN
Jose and Marco are unloading weapons and piedra into the Boat
House. Pimentel and Jimenez are up in the Cabin, talking.
JIMENEZ
Who is that?
Trujillo comes out from the Cabin. He peeks out to see.
TRUJILLO
It's the Cops.
EXT. COP BOAT
The ship edges forward, slowly.
Jimenez and Trujillo jump for cover behind a box. Pimentel
hides behind the door wall.
EXT. BOAT HOUSE
Pimentel stops right by the wall. Trujillo and Jimenez are
right behind him.
Nothing comes out of the Speaker. The Ship slowly continues
forward, away from them.
Jimenez and Trujillo sigh in Relief. Jimenez, Trujillo, Marco
and Jose cross over to their Ship and go to the Cargo hold.
EXT. PIMENTEL'S HOUSE
Pimentel's Mother's house is being renovated. His mother is
watching. Pimentel comforts her. She gently pushes him away.
Pimentel's sister takes their mom into their house.
INT. AMUSEMENT PARK - DAY
Hernando, leader of the West side, sprawls dead over a Candy
Machine in an amusement Park, blood splattering all over some
Five Year old Kids's Faces.
Gone down in a hail of Bullet Fire. Jimenez and the gang
drive away. Warkowitz's and a handful of Gang bangers's, tied
up dead bodies. Lie in a Warehouse.
EXT. MICHOACAN MARINA
....and bloated Foreman and Martinez, float in from the ocean
onto the lush white surf of Michoacan Beach, alongside some
kids playing with their shovels. The kids drop the shovels
and bolt for their parents.
INT. MORGUE - DAY
....as the morgue piles up with rows of corpses, their tagged
toes sticking out from under the white sheets like used cars.
Coroners standing next to them, writing on their Clipboards.
A horde of fresh, about Twelve new Corpses arrives, as the
Coroners hurry over to them. Two Detectives talk to the
coroners. Making notes.
...and it goes on and on.
INT. BAR - NIGHT
We see four other men, including Trujillo and Jose, standing
near Jimenez at the bar, raise their glasses in salute.
Hernandez and his Wife enter, and go to the Private room. The
East Side Boss, Marco Dado, looks up and sees Pimentel.
DADO
Hey, look at him. Pimentel. I hear
you're doing good now.
PIMENTEL
(preening a little)
Do I know you?
DADO
(smiling broadly at
Pimentel)
Son of a bitch.
Get over here....Do I know you? I'm
Marco Dado. You don't remember me?
Pimentel, realizing this, slowly walks over and Dado,
aggressively, squeezes Pimentel's hand.
Pimentel doesn't like it. His mood changes. He inches towards
his .45, But stops barely.
PIMENTEL
(forcing a laugh,
remembering Dado)
Hey, Dado. What the fuck I got to
remember?
DADO
(squeezing Pimentel's hand
even harder)
Listen to him. What he got to
remember? Hey Pimentel, don't go
get too smartassed. Know your
place.
PIMENTEL
Hey Dado. It's done. We caught up.
Enjoy your drink.
DADO
(laughing, to the crowd at
the bar)
Fuckin' with him? If I was fuckin'
with you, I'd tell you to go eat
shit.
Pimentel's smile turns to a glare as he realizes Marco Dado
is making fun of him. The Men at the bar roar with laughter.
Jimenez is looking glumly at Pimentel. He walks over.
DADO
(to the guys at the bar)
He used to eat shit when no one was
looking. You remember Pimentel when
he was little? The kid was great.
Pimentel, furious, begins reaching for his .45. Jimenez holds
his hand.
JIMENEZ
(silently)
Not here!
PIMENTEL
(almost a threat)
Dado. Don't go too far.
DADO
Come on. Pimentel. We're only
kidding. You can't take a joke?
What the fuck happened to you after
all these years?
We see that Pimentel is still angry, but begins to relax with
Dado's apparent apology, but as soon as Dado sees that
Pimentel is beginning to relax, he turns his back on
Pimentel. Jimenez goes to the bar, gets a drink, than comes
back.
JIMENEZ
(coming)
What's going on.
DADO
Nothin'. We just talking about old
times.
Dado throws a Napkin at Pimentel's chest. Jimenez quickly
steps in front of Pimentel who is about to shoot Dado. Dado
is facing the bar and does not see just how furious Pimentel
has become.
JIMENEZ
(gently wrestling Pimentel
away from the bar)
Come on, relax. He's drunk. He's
been locked up for six years. He's
been in Jail here and the Fucking
US. They been riding him and his
family hard.
PIMENTEL
I don't give a shit. That guy's got
no right to insult anybody like
this.
JIMENEZ
Pimentel. He. Doesn't mean
anything. Forget about it. It's not
like it's the end of the world.
PIMENTEL
(trying to wrestle past
Jimenez)
He's insulting me. Pig bastard.
He's never been any fuckin' good.
He's been doin' it for years. I
never realized it until now. A
harvester has more loyalty than
him.
JIMENEZ
Pimentel. Relax.
PIMENTEL
(to Jimenez)
Fuck him. If he does it again. He
is dead.
Pimentel roughly grabs his Beer Bottle and storms out. His
gang follow.
JIMENEZ
(rejoining Dado at the
bar)
Dado. I'm sorry. Pimentel gets
loaded. He doesn't mean any
disrespect. His life's been hard,
you know.
DADO
He's got a hot head. That fuck
ain't loaded. He never seen a drink
in his life, nor ever been drunk.
He didn't earn it.
We see the last few guests get up to leave. From the
Bartender's POV behind the bar, we see the guests leave and
suddenly Pimentel appears in the doorway. The Bartender walks
around the bar and approaches Pimentel. We see Jimenez and
Dado are still seated at bar with their backs to the door.
DADO
They're Fucking assholes. Every
last one of them.
Jimenez nods. He looks over to the entrance, to see if
Pimentel comes. He doesn't.
DADO
I seen them. They walk around like
big men and they don't know shit.
JIMENEZ
A guy gets hot. He mouths off. He
gets killed. It's the new age.
DADO
When I was a kid, I swear on my
mother's grave, you mouth off, you
got your Fucking legs broke, and
your balls cut off. They would
serve them to you in your soup.
That was the best meal you had. The
meal of the fucking Century.
EXT. SUNTAN BEAUTY PARLOR - DAY
Pimentel's Chevy Impala sits in front of the Suntan Parlor.
They are waiting for Yolanda.
She makes an appearance at the front door, putting on her hat
and sunglasses.
She applies some lipstick. Marco opens the door. The Impala
lowers to the ground. Yolanda stares, stunned and impressed.
YOLANDA
What the hell is that thing?
MARCO
It's a genuine 1966 Chevy Impala.
YOLANDA
I love it. But I prefer high class
cars. Ferrari's and stuff like
that.
MARCO
This is better than a Ferrari. It's
got a couple hundred miles, but
it's good.
Yolanda walks down the steps. A wind blows, she keeps it from
blowing off.
MARCO
We are to take you to the bowling
alley. To meet your friends there.
We are to wait for you until you
wish to go somewhere else.
YOLANDA
(Getting in)
You don't forget anything, do you?
MARCO
It's a natural thing.
He closes the door, gets in. The car drives off.
EXT. WAREHOUSE STORAGE - NIGHT
Pimentel's car is sitting parked across the Large Warehouse.
EXT. BACK ALLEY
Pimentel exits the apartment complex. He starts walking
towards the main street. A car drives up to him. It's Marco,
Jose, and Jimenez. The car stops.
MARCO
Come on. Get in.
PIMENTEL
Where are we going?
MARCO
We have to pick up some guy and
drive him across town.
Pimentel gets in. The Chevy Impala pulls up to the end of the
alley, then merges with the traffic.
EXT. MARINA - DAY
The Impala pulls into the Parking Lot. A red Viper is parked
across the Impala. A tied up, gagged man sits in it. Marco
and Jimenez exit the Impala and get into the Viper.
INT. VIPER
Marco turns on the Viper. The man is beaten half to death,
JIMENEZ
We're from the collections
department.
EXT. MARINA
The viper leaves the Parking lot. The Impala on it's trail.
INT. MICHOACAN STEEL WORKS
The factory is in full working order. The cars pull into the
giant entrance, then continue until they come to a stop at
the smelting pot. Pimentel gets out of the car. Jimenez ad
Marco do so too. Jimenez bends down and pokes holes into the
tank. The fuel runs out.
PIMENTEL
Who is this guy?
MARCO
Don't know.
(Removes the gag)
Who are you?
MAN
What the fuck you doing? I didn't
do anything.
PIMENTEL
Then why the fuck are you here,
Asshole?
MAN
It's a minor Understanding.
The car is bumped from the back. The man starts yelling.
Jimenez has the Forklift and is pushing the car up the ramp.
The car rises on the ramp, until it reaches the zenith, then
slides off the edge and plummets down into the smelt.
The men watch from the ramp as the car burns up and slowly
melts. The man's screams are still heard, until the car sinks
completely.
EXT. MICHOACAN MAIN STREET - NIGHT
Pimentel, Marco and Jose are walking towards the car. They
have boxes in their hands.
Presents wrapped in different colors. Marco opens the trunk.
There are more presents in the trunk. They drop the ones
they're carrying into the trunk.
MARCO
Pimentel?
PIMENTEL
I'm thinking about it.
MARCO
Pimentel...look....
Marco cannot answer him.
He pulls Pimentel by the arm, back to the newsstand, and
points.
His face goes grave. The headlines read: "SANTO HERNANDEZ,
DRUG LORD GUNNED DOWN."
Pimentel and Marco are petrified; they stare at the screen.
EXT. MOUNTAIN ROAD - DAY
The car stops next to a small, weather beaten house. In the
front yard, Chickens and Goats roam.
Kids run around, playing and shooting each other with Toy
Guns.
Pimentel, Jimenez, Marco and Jose get out, walk trough the
open front Gate, and wait. Here the sky is now cloudy, almost
looking as if it's going to rain.
They stop for a second, staring at the Kids.
The kids stop, stare back at them, then drop the guns and run
into the house, screaming. A voice thunders from inside the
house, yelling at the kids, a woman's voice.
Seconds later, a Mid 30s Lady dressed in a Red dress, steps
onto the porch, wielding a Double Barrel Shotgun.
She levels the gun at Pimentel and the others. Pimentel is
unfazed by the gun, the others move back a foot.
The lady speaks in a high, yet shrill voice. Her name is
Baquita.
BAQUITA
What do you Want?
PIMENTEL
To talk to Jesus.
BAQUITA
Who are you?
PIMENTEL
Friends.
BAQUITA
You are lying. Jesus don't have no
friends. Tell your people, we don't
owe nothing. We don't know nothing.
We don't know nothing.
PIMENTEL
Tell him his old friends are coming
to collect.
Baquita knocks on the door, calls Jesus and lowers the gun,
slightly, as Jesus comes out, groggy and stumbling out
through the door.
JESUS
What do you want?
PIMENTEL
You don't remember us?
JESUS
Maybe I do.
PIMENTEL
Pimentel. Jimenez. Marco. Jesus.
Jesus looks like he's thinking, for a moment, when we see a
smile on his face.
JESUS
I remember you.
PIMENTEL
La Holla Ranch. We all worked
together.
Jesus stumbles down the steps, across the front yard, then
Hugs them one by one.
JESUS
What brings you Peritos here?
Pimentel reaches into his pocket. Baquita runs down to them,
raises her gun and slams Pimentel in the face. Pimentel
reels. Jesus holds Baquita back.
JESUS
BAQUITA! BAQUITA! NO! THEY ARE WITH
US!
BAQUITA
I saw him pull something! He's
Dangerous. Watch out, Guapo.
Pimentel, hand still in his pocket, pulls out an Envelope.
PIMENTEL
Consuelo's Plant!
PIMENTEL (ALTERNATIVE)
Some Business.
JESUS
So, you started working for Romero?
PIMENTEL
We're a long way from Romero.
JESUS
Isn't that far away. Not for
Romero. You know that. Recently
there's been tons of Cavrones out
of Michoacan here. Trying to escape
You and Hernandez.
JIMENEZ
If it got to you too, then I can
see how fast is gets around.
Romero Fucked us good man.
JESUS
Let's talk later. When the others
leave. (Nods towards the kitchen)
Got a little problem here.
INT. JESUS'S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
They are in the Living Room, talking, smoking and drinking
Beer. The radio is playing.
JESUS
How Is everything? Anybody we knew,
dead?
JIMENEZ
It's good. Hot too! Here it's
hotter than anywhere else.
PIMENTEL
Who was in the kitchen today?
Jesus doesn't say anything.
PIMENTEL
Do you hear what I'm asking you?
Are you drunk?
JESUS
Just some friends of Consuelo. They
looking to blackmail us. Shit, we
can't do nothing. He's got ears all
around. He kills whole families, he
catches messing with his business.
Eastern Michoacan has never been
civilized much. Now that you
control East, South and West, you
should know that.
JIMENEZ
What the Fuck?
JESUS
What the fuck kinda shit did you
get into now?
PIMENTEL
Romero worked for Martinez. We
unknowingly killed his right hand
man. Martinez let him go.
JESUS
So you came to Jesus for help. I
will help you. You know I always
help you.
PIMENTEL
Just to lay low for a while. Until
the heat goes away from us.
JESUS
He must have done something bad. To
Hernandez, too. I always say, you
can owe to anybody, just not to
Hernandez. He's too Impatient. But
I heard about his Untimely death.
JIMENEZ
That was at the hands of Romero
himself. He cornered us in one of
his warehouses.
PIMENTEL
That's why we are here. Get the
money somebody owes to Romero. Then
we can see how to get rid of that
ugly fuck.
JESUS
You better be careful about what
Romero tells you. He's not exactly
truthful. He will look to take
advantage of anyone he can.
PIMENTEL
That's what we found out. We owe
everything we have now, to
Hernandez. Romero was a lowlife man
in Martinez's family.
JESUS
From what's been going around, he's
been quietly working on the side.
For years too. Right under
Martinez's nose.
PIMENTEL
So if Romero was telling the truth,
and he kept swearing he did, then
half of the hits he posed on his
warehouses ended up in his pockets.
JESUS
You can't leave Martinez out.
JIMENEZ
That makes sense. Martinez provides
the protection, commands a larger
percentage, in exchange for
Romero's services.
JESUS
Sounds good. If you're right, then
we will make him spit out all the
loose change.
INT. MARIJUANA PLANT - MANSION HALLWAY - DAY
Consuelo and 3 Henchmen are walking towards his office. They
are in a good Mood.
CONSUELO
So I say to them, listen, your Cunt
was never with me. I was inside of
her.
They burst out laughing, and it echoes across the Hallway.
They come to the door. Consuelo unlocks it.
INT. CONSUELO'S OFFICE
The door opens, Consuelo and the Henchmen walk in.
They see, across from them behind his desk, Pimentel, Marco,
Jimenez, Jesus and Jose, sitting. All armed with Ak47s and M
16s.
The guards try to run, but see it's useless. One of them
instead closes the door.
CONSUELO
(Unbuttoning his Shirt)
Who are you? What do you want? How
did you get in here?
PIMENTEL
We have some bad news for you.
Consuelo already knows why they are here.
CONSUELO
Martinez?...or is it Romero?
Jimenez nods.
CONSUELO
You tell Martinez, I got nothin' to
do with him. This is between me and
Romero. That cocksucker think he
can do away with me, take
everything I worked so hard for?
Fuck No! I will bury him like I
buried the others.
PIMENTEL
We're going to tell Romero. He sent
us. We will, tell Romero about your
bribery, and the collections you
owe. He's gonna serve you your
Balls for soup. That will be your
finest meal yet.
CONSUELO
What money? I paid him. Your
mothers couldn't make that kind of
money even if they worked for me.
PIMENTEL
The Money you been spending. It
goes to those whores you been
Fuckin' every day. And your drugs.
The federales are right on your
ass.
CONSUELO
I don't know where you get your
information, but you are dead
wrong.
PIMENTEL
He loaned you one Million. Out of
his good trust. And you betray him.
You go and fuck him hard.
CONSUELO
Come on. You would have done the
same thing. Martinez isn't the main
guy anymore. We got a new boss now.
PIMENTEL
That's one more debt you have to
cover.
Pimentel cocks his .45. The men behind him follow.
CONSUELO
(Weeping)
Jesus. You gave me away. You
Fucking Fuck, you will be the first
one I come after. I fuck your wife
in front of you.
JESUS
(To Pimentel)
Asshole came to my house.
Threatened me. Held my family
hostage if I didn't do what he
said. That's why people here don't
go on the streets anymore. Too
afraid.
CONSUELO
I will do anything. Please don't
kill me. I don't deserve it.
Consuelo, seeing no way out of this, quickly changes tone. He
stops weeping and begging.
CONSUELO
Yes, that helped me a lot. I
already paid him back. Go back and
tell Romero that. Now, he owes me.
PIMENTEL
Romero is honest. What he says,
goes. I have to give him that. He
made a special point about your
debt.
Jimenez, Marco and Jose can't help but to Laugh. He shifts,
closer and closer to his jacket.
PIMENTEL
Sign this paper. It says you will
be relieved of all further duties
after you pay this.
CONSUELO
(changes stride)
I sign nothing, you fuck.
The two Henchmen standing besides Consuelo, Move aside.
PIMENTEL
Sign the paper. You will get Twenty
Years.
CONSUELO
You're just going to fuck me over?
You and Martinez and Romero?
PIMENTEL
Or we can get rid of you.
CONSUELO
You know Romero is what I made him
to be. Martinez had a hand in it
too.
Consuelo jumps to his Jacket, produces his gun and gets off a
shot.
The shot hits the ashtray on the desk, close to Pimentel.
Marco shoots Consuelo twice in his gut.
Jose shoots Consuelo's guards.
This is a Different Pimentel now. All the fun has left his
face.
Instead of it, Coldness and Unyielding Cruelty has taken it's
place.
PIMENTEL
Let him bleed to death. Then send
the body and the money to Romero.
MARCO
Romero will want revenge.
PIMENTEL
Let him. We will go look at a few
Businesses we can buy. We need
fronts.
MARCO
What about when we give him the
Body?
PIMENTEL
Nothing. He kept his promise so
far. We keep ours.
Marco and Jose take Consuelo's Briefcase, throw it on the
desk. They grab Consuelo's Arms and Legs and drag him out.
The two Henchmen follow.
PIMENTEL
Jesus. You go and find us some
Cerbeza. I'm thirsty.
JIMENEZ
What about Consuelo's people?
PIMENTEL
If anybody has any questions. Send
them to me.
JESUS
What about the Northerners?
PIMENTEL
We'll take them, after we're done
here.
JESUS
And the local gangs here?
PIMENTEL
Who are they?
JESUS
They are the ones that control
everything here. Consuelo used to
give them funding. Major Funding.
Local thugs Mostly. Good guys. Just
got caught on the wrong side of
things.
PIMENTEL
Go to them. Make them an offer.
JESUS
The majority of them we already
have bagged. It's those who know
the ropes who will take some
convincing.
PIMENTEL
Go over there. If there is no deal,
kill them. Do the same to Hector's
Car shop and send some guys up
North.
Jesus leaves the room. Pimentel and Jimenez get up and get
out too.
INT. HALLWAY
Pimentel and Jimenez are walking out towards the front door.
JIMENEZ
Where are we going?
PIMENTEL
There are a few girls waiting for
us. Marco Jose and Jesus will come
later on too.
EXT. MICHOACAN OUTPOSTS - DAY
Two cars pull up to the Entrance to the Empty Lot. A Beige
Lincoln and Pimentel's Impala, from which Pimentel and
Jimenez step out.
From the Lincoln, out steps a well dressed, in a nice
Business Suit (Sharp Looking Too), Mexican Man in his late
clearly an Agent who is selling to Pimentel.
He joins Pimentel and Jimenez, who are already at the Fence
Entrance, looking and Discussing.
JOSTACAS
Gentlemen! Emilio Jostacas. Real
Estate agent here in Michoacan and
it's surrounding Vicinities.
PIMENTEL
Luis Pimentel and this is my Friend
Jose Jimenez.
They shake hands, Jostacas falls into Step with them, who are
already entering the Lot.
JOSTACAS
This is a nice lot you picked out,
Mr. Pimentel. 10 acres of pure
beauty. It already has access to
Electricity, Water, Gas and so
forth. Was supposed to be a
Government Military Base. Lot's of
people wanted this spot, but I left
it just for you.
JIMENEZ
How much?
JOSTACAS
10,105,000 Pesos! Special for you,
550,000 pesos.
PIMENTEL
We'll come back if we don't find
something better.
JOSTACAS
Wait....we Can.....
Pimentel and Jimenez start going back towards the car,
Jostacas running after them.
JOSTACAS
We can make an offer. Wait...we'll
work this out with an offer.
Pimentel and Jimenez stop, then turn to Jostacas.
PIMENTEL
Offer?
JOSTACAS
I have a problem.
JIMENEZ
This is a waste of time. Let's go.
JOSTACAS
My Daughter. Going out with these
Skinheads. What can I do? I think
she may be using drugs. My wife and
I don't know what to do.
PIMENTEL
Aren't there any other people you
can ask to do this for you?
JOSTACAS
Since you killed Consuelo, there
isn't any source left that I trust.
He kept everything in order here.
JIMENEZ
(Turns back to Jostacas)
Were are they?
JOSTACAS
Right down the road from the Plant.
(Closes in on them)
If you do this for me, this land is
Free of charge.
PIMENTEL
See what Jose and Marco can do with
it. Nobody leaves alive.
Jimenez jots the order down on his notebook.
JIMENEZ
Consider this a done deal, Mr.
Jostacas..
PIMENTEL
(Turning towards the lot)
Now, tell me more on this lot!
INT. PIMENTEL'S OFFICE - NIGHT
Pimentel is sitting at his desk, rifling through and reading
Consuelo's documents. He's opened a Beer Bottle and it's
right next to him.
JIMENEZ
So I spoke with one of our guys
down there. Everything is as we
left it. Lupe is temporarily
running things.
PIMENTEL
What about Romero?
JIMENEZ
He was angry that we killed
Consuelo. All the other heads are
afraid that we will come for them
too.
PIMENTEL
We will. After we're done here. I
told Jefe. East. West. And almost
north.
JIMENEZ
We found a restaurant. Run down,
but it's fixable. Won't cost much
to buy and renovate.
PIMENTEL
Get it. Then hire some people to
work on it. Send some people to
deal with that guy, Walters.
EXT. MARIJUANA PLANT - DAY
A car pulls up to the giant, sloped drive way. It's a Red
Ford, with a Big "LA HOLLA RANCH" sign on it.
Jose and Marco get out. Marco is holding a Briefcase, Jose
takes out two bags from the trunk.
They walk past the 1966 Lincoln.
INT. PIMENTEL'S OFFICE
Pimentel is searching through a bunch of picture, leaning
them against frames to see how they fit.
Jose and Marco walk in, with the bags and Briefcase in hand.
MARCO
We back!
PIMENTEL
Did you do what I told you?
MARCO
Romero wasn't happy. He's trying to
find out who killed Consuelo.
PIMENTEL
You didn't tell him the last time?
JOSE
No. Consuelo is his brother. Maybe
this time we went too far. He wants
us to come and bury the hatchet.
Pimentel thinks for a second. That's not all Romero wants. He
puts the frame down gracefully.
PIMENTEL
(thoughtfully)
You guys go help Jimenez. Leave me
alone for now.
JOSE
Your mother came to us.
Pimentel's heart stops, his face full of emotional blow, and
few tears that stream out of his eyes.
PIMENTEL
(In tears)
Mama. How did she sound?
JOSE
Yes, she's OK. She's in great
health. She didn't mention you. She
just asked if you still do what you
do.
Pimentel doesn't say anything. He sits there, slumped in his
chair, staring, like in a sort of trance through the picture
of his family.
QUICK SHOTS OF:
A) Jimenez, Marco and Jose meeting with Business owners in
Bolivia, and Argentina. They shake hands and Drink.
B) Pimentel, Jimenez, Marco and Jose meeting with Gangs and
Business Men in Costa Rica, discussing Business, then shaking
hands, signing Contracts, then shaking hands again.
C) Pimentel, Jose, Jimenez and Marco opening Hotels, Stores,
Fixing Streets and Buildings. Tons of workers are working
around the City.
D) Pimentel, Jose and Marco are with the Mayor of Oaxaca
City, Jimenez is signing papers and Greeting People and
Guests.
A Map of Mexico appears.
A Drop of Blood falls on the Map, covering Oaxaca, then
another one, until they Cover 4 States in Mexico. Oaxaca,
Veracruz, Michoacan and Guerrero.
EXT. MICHOACAN (TWO MONTHS LATER) - NIGHT
It's the already Familiar shot of Pimentel's old house. A
luxury Lincoln is parked in front.
Three Men walk towards the House. One knocks on the door.
An old lady opens up, staring at the Men through the Screen
Door. Her eyes start to water.
MOTHER
Luis! What do you want here?
She opens the screen Door. Reluctantly, she lets them enter.
They enter the Kitchen. A man is sitting there.
Papers spread all over the table. He jumps up. Arm
outstretched.
His name is Alex Cabral.
CABRAL
Hello. Alex Cabral. United Veterans
Affair. Among other things.
Pimentel. Quiet. Sits down across him.
CABRAL
I guess not.
PIMENTEL
What are you doing here, Cabral?
CABRAL
Well...my department found out that
there was some money we didn't pay
to your father. I'm finalizing the
paperwork.
He hands a form to Pimentel. Pimentel scans it uncaring.
Drops it on the table.
CABRAL
For a small fee...
PIMENTEL
What fee? There shouldn't be any
fee. Not with you guys.
CABRAL
Your father's legacy can be
protected now.
PIMENTEL
What the fuck? How much is the
fucking fee?
CABRAL
It's only a Thousand pesos for the
first month. Then it's Seven
Hundred per month.
Pimentel suddenly jumps up. He bunches all of Cabral's
papers, grabs him by the shoulder and drags him. Cabral
fights back. He holds on to the door frame.
PIMENTEL
Get the fuck out. Now!
CABRAL
You have no right.
He gives Cabral a hard kick to the chest. Cabral flies down
the porch.
Pimentel's mother is quiet the whole time.
PIMENTEL
I will come by from now on. I
couldn't before, because there was
business to be done.
She looks at Pimentel, still standing at the porch. She lets
go of the door, unmournfully showing them to the kitchen.
MOTHER
Mafia Business, is that it? Is that
why you left suddenly, because you
had to do your Mafia Business?
Because you had to kill?
PIMENTEL
(Lying)
No Mama. Our Business. It don't
have any Mafia in it. I would never
do anything that would hurt you.
MOTHER
What are you doing here? What about
all these gangsters suddenly flying
out of here to Oaxaca? Something
like that is only the Mafia. Are
you trying to be like your father?
PIMENTEL
New Job Market. We're a part of it.
People helping People. It's
business. You never had a job
before. Father did all the work.
She opens the door for them to come in. Somebody is in the
house. Pimentel looks inside.
The mother sees him, then looks inside, seemingly like she
has no choice. They step into the house, look around.
MOTHER
If it makes you happy, then that is
all that matters, even to me. Even
now nobody has killed you yet. I
hear a lot of them have died
lately. Is it because of you? How
come you only come now, after Seven
Years? You want money again, don't
you?
INT. PIMENTEL'S HOUSE - NIGHT
Pimentel, Jimenez and Jesus are talking to Pimentel's Mother.
She sounds very angry about something.
The interior is made up of small, narrow rooms. The walls are
decorated with, Aztec and Jesus statues. The floor has
rugged, torn carpets.
PIMENTEL
I don't want any money. I came by
to see how you are doing.
MOTHER
Why do you suddenly care how I am
doing? It's none of your business.
Your business is the mafia.
Pimentel looks into the other room. A little girl is running
around, playing, with another little boy.
PIMENTEL
Who's kids are these? Someone I
know, mama?
MOTHER
That is your sister. And your
brother. She was born three years
ago. You would have known her. But
you had to go work at the farm,
instead of caring about your
family. He is four years old.
EXT. PIMENTEL'S HOUSE
Two unmarked cars creep up to the House, lights out, with
Dark Colors.
INT. PIMENTEL'S HOUSE - NIGHT
PIMENTEL
Father was overworked. He worked
day in and day out. He did it just
so that we could have all that we
had. I took after him. I had to
help out.
MOTHER
God bless his Soul, he did. But
you, instead of going to school,
you worked on a dirty field all
day. Then you started robbing,
smuggling and killing people.
EXT. PIMENTEL'S HOUSE
men get out of the cars, armed to the Teeth with UZI's, they
creep up into the Front yard, staying out of the Light,
that's coming from the Windows.
They move silently through the Front yard and to the Back.
INT. PIMENTEL'S HOUSE
One Henchman sneaks through the Kitchen, then through the
Hall and into the Bedroom.
He jumps out through the door, connecting the Bedroom and
Living Room, then unloads into the Room. Pimentel, Jimenez
and Jesus are taken by Surprise.
Jimenez knocks Pimentel's Mother out of her Chair, down to
the ground. Jesus takes cover behind a Sofa, readying his
gun. Jimenez does so too.
Pimentel crawls over to his Mother, who is holding her side,
bleeding heavy from it. The guys keep shooting, until their
clips run out.
As he's reloading, Jimenez, with his Silenced UZI, drills
him. The Other guys storm into the room, and a Firefight
turns ugly. One guy falls over a sofa, drilled full of holes.
Pimentel catches a bullet to the Arm, Jimenez does too.
Pimentel takes his .45 And Shoots a Guy in the Head,
splattering his brain on the wall.
The Last Henchman runs out.
EXT. PIMENTEL'S HOUSE
The guy keeps running, almost making it to the Fence, then
bullets zip past him and into him, and he slumps over, right
onto the White Picket Fence.
Jesus and Jimenez stand on the Porch, amidst Gun smoke and
Empty Shells. They go back inside.
INT. PIMENTEL'S HOUSE
The Room is shot up. Holes line everything from walls to
chairs. Pimentel is helping his mother up.
Jesus calls 911 on the Phone. Jimenez goes to help Pimentel
and his Mother. Neighbors come into the House, gasping and
Asking questions at the Scene before them.
They hurry over to help the mother. Ignoring Pimentel and
Jimenez.
INT. PIMENTEL'S HOUSE
The medics have arrived. They take Pimentel's Mother on a
stretcher.
Two are attending to Jimenez and Pimentel.
EXT. MICHOACAN HOSPITAL (4 HOURS LATER) - DAY
Pimentel's mother is lying in a Hospital Bed, connected to
all kinds of Monitors and Tubes. A nurse is checking her
Heart rate, Blood Pressure among other Things. Jimenez is on
the Phone. Pimentel is sitting in a chair next to the Bed.
Both Pimentel's and Jimenez's left arms are bandaged.
PIMENTEL
What have I done?
JIMENEZ
You haven't done anything. It is
not your fault.
PIMENTEL
This wasn't supposed to happen, no
matter how much you hate them. Not
supposed to happen to Anybody.
Nobody deserves this.
JIMENEZ
What's done is done. We can't let
this get us down. Your mother will
be alright.
PIMENTEL
Call Marco and Jose. Have them go
to Romero's Warehouses, destroy the
Warehouses and send a Greeting Card
to Romero.
JIMENEZ
You know Romero will want a war if
we do this.
PIMENTEL
Then he will have war.
JIMENEZ
Let's not look on the dark side,
but say we end up dead.
PIMENTEL
There is a difference. Me, I'm not
afraid to die. Romero is.
That is why he is holding on dearly
to everything.
INT. PIMENTEL'S OFFICE (5 MONTHS LATER)
Pimentel is meeting with Jostacas. Jostacas has all kinds of
charts and maps on the table. He's showing Pimentel outlines
and drawings of his Mansion and the Renovations. He pulls up
a plan for Pimentel's Shooting Range. Pimentel opens a Corona
and drinks. He leans on the table, stares at the pictures,
then at the projector.
JOSTACAS
And so if everything goes as
planned, the mall should be
finished in another two weeks. Five
Hundred workers are working on it
to meet your deadline.
PIMENTEL
How is your Daughter?
JOSTACAS
She is good. She's improved her
life drastically. These men haven't
come anymore, and she went back to
school. She is finishing up and is
graduating next week. You all are
invited.
PIMENTEL
We will be there. I am very happy
for you.
Jostacas gets up, joining Pimentel around his Table, shaking
hands. A Butler opens the door for him. Pimentel stops him at
the door.
PIMENTEL
I will be out of town for a couple
of days. Call me next week.
Jostacas gives Pimentel an assuring look and Nod. Jimenez
enters the room. He stares at Pimentel.
PIMENTEL
What the fuck is it?
JIMENEZ
A fucking mall? This is insane. I
can't believe you are opening a
mall.
PIMENTEL
We need fronts. A mall is the
perfect place.
JIMENEZ
We have fronts coming out of our
fucking asses. This shit is going
to drink up too much money. We
already have Eight Percent going
into security alone. Bribes and
other expenses are another thing.
PIMENTEL
What the fuck do you want? You want
money? You have it. You want a good
life. You got it. You want women
and cars. You got them.
INT. RESTAURANT COSTA RICA - NIGHT
The restaurant that was thrashed and run down, is now a Full
Blown Luxury Restaurant.
Noble People and Royalty from all over the World dine here.
Classical Mexican Orchestra is playing in the background.
People are talking. Servers are serving them Expensive Food
and Wine. On a separate side, sits Vallero and His friends.
They obviously represent some of the Richest people in the
Business.
VALLERO
So...it's done gentlemen. The Pigs
are eliminated. Now,all of
Michoacan will be mine.
ASSOCIATE #1
What is the next course of action?
VALLERO
They want work, we keep them. We
round up the rest. That's that.
That's Business.
ASSOCIATE #3
The locals have their support.
Hernandez was very good to them.
VALLERO
We want....
He stops. Cold. Motionless. The Associates watch him, Vallero
doesn't move or say anything.
In front of them, stands Pimentel. Dressed in a sharp, black
Business Suit. Flanking him are Jimenez, Jose, Marco and
Jesus.
Nobody pays any attention to them as they sit down at
Vallero's Table.
PIMENTEL
You don't mind gentlemen. Why would
you? You're the kind of Chingones
that Trample all over the poor
people.
JIMENEZ
He's never minded anything.
VALLERO
I see you did good for yourself.
Taking all of Consuelo's glory?
PIMENTEL
We didn't take any glory. You let
us have it. Your own glory that
Consuelo took from you. Our Jefe
paid for your Mistake.
VALLERO
I was under the impression that I
would never see you again. Maybe
it's my fault for not acting
sooner.
PIMENTEL
You never make that mistake with
somebody you don't know.
VALLERO
I know that now. A bribe?
PIMENTEL
Bribes don't go very far.
VALLERO
That's the reason I need you dead.
You're no positive use to anybody
anymore.
PIMENTEL
That's the reason I have real
business partners. You've killed
most of yours.
VALLERO
What do you know about this
business. You've been in it, what ,
a year. Compared to my Twenty
years.
PIMENTEL
Once you're gone, I can start doing
business. The right way. No more of
this bullshit killing.
VALLERO
I was hoping we could do business
together. But I see you can't be
trusted.
PIMENTEL
Why did you kill Hernandez?
VALLERO
I'm really interested to find out
who told you about that.
PIMENTEL
That doesn't matter.
VALLERO
He was getting careless. Age does
that to you. He wanted power! He
got it. He got too much of it, and
didn't know what to do with it.
I've seen him fall a number of
times, and get back up. The
determination that man had. He
would say he was the only one who
deserved all the money and power.
PIMENTEL
He did. I've heard of him even
before we worked for him. He was
very well respected by everyone who
knew him.
VALLERO
Maybe. He was never able to help
himself during tough times. Always
rolling off of other's backs.
Piece of shit my killed friends to
get to where he was.
PIMENTEL
That is why you sent Hit men after
us. You model yourself after
Martinez, good thinking.
ASSOCIATE #3
We told him it was a bad idea.
Having you work for us. Once you
saw how things worked. Take the
business away from us.
JIMENEZ
We just did what Romero and
Martinez told us. But you Fucked us
now.
VALLERO
Why so heavily armed? In your own
Restaurant? No hospitality?
PIMENTEL
I guess so that I can treat
Insecurity the right way, by being
Secure.
VALLERO
You will start looking over your
shoulder Pimentel. Don't fall in
the same footsteps as Martinez.
PIMENTEL
What's this business you were
talking about? Whatever Vallero
offers you, I'll offer you three
times as much.
VALLERO
You are the business. I just found
out you're no longer investable.
Marco, Jose, Jimenez and Jesus stand up and reach into their
pockets.
VALLERO
I have many lives, Pimentel. Don't
fuck up.
PIMENTEL
And hell is only Knee Deep.
Pimentel and the guys move away, towards the Restricted
Section, don't exit, but go into a room.
Vallero and his friends uneasily follow them.
INT. PIMENTEL'S OFFICE - DAY
Pimentel is signing papers on his desk. Jimenez brings a man
in, stands him in front of Pimentel's desk. Pimentel sizes
him up.
PIMENTEL
Who is he?
JIMENEZ
He is a delivery driver and he used
to work for Romero. Romero used him
to get out of jail. This guy went
to the can for three years because
of Romero.
PIMENTEL
Is he reliable?
JIMENEZ
He is one of the best.
PIMENTEL
Then have him take the delivery to
Velazquez in Oaxaca City.
As Jimenez and the Driver walk towards the door, Pimentel
stops them.
PIMENTEL
There's going to be people watching
you. Security Reasons.
The Driver exits. Jimenez closes the door behind him, then
walks to Pimentel's desk and slumps into a sofa.
JIMENEZ
The Hospital Called today.
PIMENTEL
What do they want? More Money?
JIMENEZ
They want to know who's going to
pay for the Bill?
PIMENTEL
How much do they want?
JIMENEZ
Fifteen thousand Pesos. And some
extra payments. Taxes.
Pimentel exhales, thinking for a second draws his attention
towards his Mother's Picture.
JIMENEZ
Pimentel?
PIMENTEL
I am tired of always paying to
everybody. Give money here, give
money there.
JIMENEZ
The Hospital did good what it's
supposed to. Your mother is better.
PIMENTEL
They'll get their money.
JIMENEZ
I told you your spending will catch
up to us.
PIMENTEL
You know, why don't you just do
your job? I do mine, you do yours.
JIMENEZ
We either drop some security
spending or some fronts.
PIMENTEL
No chance in hell. We need the
money for the mall. Once we have
the mall, we close the other
fronts.
JIMENEZ
What, What Now?
INT. PIMENTEL'S MANSION - DINING ROOM - DAY
Two, severely beat up guys are sitting at the dining table,
eating. Surrounded by a few of Pimentel's Men. Pimentel is at
the Head of the Table. He pours himself a drink.
PIMENTEL
Drink up. Go ahead. Life is too
short. Yours are anyway.
The men pour themselves drinks, also.
MAN 1
How did you fool the Campos? They
thought you were dead. We did too.
PIMENTEL
What I want to know is, who told
you that it was me, taking out all
these gangs and Dealers?
MAN 2
One of the campos, although
Mortally wounded, came into our
office. He told us some things,
amongst them, that you could have
done all the things.
PIMENTEL
That's how things are. You have to
do everything yourself these days.
You can't trust anybody else.
MAN 2
You trusted one too many, Cono!
Pimentel gets up. Leans up against the Fireplace.
PIMENTEL
Now would be the time to tell me
what happened to my six hundred
pounds of piedra that happened to
be missing. Only a Dumb Bastard
like Eduardo believes your story
that it sank in the Ocean during
the Delivery.
The men don't say anything.
PIMENTEL
The proof....I Can see in your
faces. You don't beat yourself to
near death because of nothing. You
were on the security tapes, moving
the piedra.
MAN 1
Why you after all these gangs? They
didn't do anything to you.
PIMENTEL
Mr. Martinez hired us to collect
all debts for him.
MAN 1
We don't talk for no fuck. Even
you.
PIMENTEL
You'll talk. Just give my people
time, and you'll talk.
INT. PIMENTEL'S MANSION - CELLAR - DAY
In the cellar, lies Man 1, with two other guys torturing him.
They pour water over his face. Man 1 gags as the water runs
in his mouth and over his face. Pimentel is leaning on the
old Bar they have down there.
PIMENTEL
So, what's it gonna be. Will you
talk?
The man coughs.
PIMENTEL
It doesn't bother me. We can do
this all day long.
He motions the Man, who pours more water on Man 1's face.
PIMENTEL
So....where is the piedra?
Pimentel comes closer. Man 1 spits in his face.
Enraged, Pimentel throws his Beer Bottle on the ground.
PIMENTEL
AGAIN!
He storms out of the cellar.
INT. PIMENTEL'S MANSION - CELLAR 2
Man 2 is propped up on two steel beams. His legs are tied to
the beams, except his feet. The beams turn vertically and
lower his feet into the hot ash underneath.
Man 2 screams in agony.
PIMENTEL
(To Henchman)
It'll take some time to get this
Fucking Asshole. But I know you can
do it. I want to see the guy, who
you can't force to talk.
HENCHMAN
Si. Es Bueno!
PIMENTEL
Bolt up from the inside. Whoever of
those Fucks outside tells you to
open the door, don't do it under
any circumstances. No matter what
they tell you.
INT. PIMENTEL'S MANSION - OFFICE - DAY
Pimentel is taking his watch, gun, wallet and a few other
papers from his desk.
Four guys are sitting in the lower part of the office,
playing cards.
PIMENTEL
Me, Jose, Jimenez and Marco are
going out, to discuss some private
business with important clients.
We'll get the Coke back. Hidrito
and Marcelio will get them. I don't
want anybody to distract them.
PIMENTEL
You two, post up by the window and
watch Hidrito. If he moves even a
little from his spot, shoot him in
the legs. I don't like dead bodies.
They have the bad habit of not
talking.
HENCHMAN
Why don't you let us take care of
those two....
PIMENTEL
Do what I said.
INT. OFFICE BACK ROOM - DAY
The office is lit in a dark way. Light falls on some areas,
dusted by Cigarette smoke.
A few guys are spread around the Room, creating a sort of
wall between the door and the Dark Room. These are the Drug
Overlords in Mexico.
Cigarette lights are seen in the dark, the smoke escapes them
and into the room.
MAN 2
Whatever they must have done, we
will not be held responsible. You
know that and we do too.
MAN 3
Whatever Romero did on his own
turf, that doesn't affect our
judgement.
MAN 1
Perhaps it is best if we lay low
for a while and track the progress
of our fellow drug lord.
MAN 2
You are putting too much faith into
a filthy low-life that has no
credibility, nor starting point in
this world.
MAN 3
True enough. Credibility he has
not, but a starting point we have
given him. He's pretty high up.
MAN 1
And the motives he has now too. In
a year or two, he will, at this
pace overtake most of Mexico.
MAN 2
How can you be sure?
MAN 3
Like before. Give him Martinez's
army, he will Violently, although
Vicariously, take control over the
Territories.
MAN 2
Sounds Promising. He will be
unstoppable.
MAN 3
But, something has to be done about
this gang warfare. People are
panicking. There is chaos on the
streets. We could be facing social
unrest.
MAN 4
All the while that is happening, I
have to say I'm thankful for the
surge of New Job openings and
wealth he's bringing into this
state.
MAN 1
What do we do now? Do we trade
wealth for the people's distrust,
or do we get their trust and
continue living like before for all
the money we could dream of?
MAN 4
I say we let the Cat and Mouse
play, but as it stands right now,
we got a Bulldog in there with
them, pillaging, killing and
stealing.
MAN 2
Perhaps we should let him take care
of business, then intervene at the
opportune moment. He should be left
alone at his work.
MAN 3
You must take into account, the
gangs not under our influence.
MAN 2
They have all been accounted for
and taken care of, but in due time
will be put into action.
MAN 1
Gentlemen. What you don't know, and
what I came here to tell you is,
that as of today, one fourth of
your gangs have been murdered by
Pimentel.
The door blows open with a big BOOM! The men around the table
are startled.
Most of them fall off their chairs. Dust fills the room.
Marco, Jose and Trujillo burst in with three more Henchmen.
MARCO
You will be the latest addition.
They open fire on the pleading men. The men are gunned down,
then Marco and the others leave.
Police sirens come closer in the distance.
INT. CLUB - NIGHT
The interior is built like a two level home, but it runs on
Four Large Levels. On all levels there are Three large Dance
Floors, swimming pools, bars, bands, casinos and restaurants.
The crowd is a combination of Mexicans, Gringos and South and
Central Americans. Most of them, Rich, Happy and Coked up.
Down at the casinos are some young girls in jeans and Tank
Tops. Jimenez, coming from the restrooms, tries to pick one
up.
JIMENEZ
You lookin hot ladies.
He slicks back his hair. The girls look at him. They're
Amused.
GIRL 1
(Scoffs) shit, you got money,
Chico?
JIMENEZ
Sure I got money. I'm not poor.
GIRL 2
(Pats the poker table)
Put it down. Let's play. You win,
we go up with you.
JIMENEZ
What about other things?
GIRL 1
If you win.
Jimenez looks off, concerned, then confronts the girls.
JIMENEZ
Fuck, how do you play this thing?
Up, by the bar, sits Jose, Marco, Jesus, Trujillo and
Pimentel. They are together with Jostacas. Jostacas takes a
pill. They all stare at a big Marine dinner.
JOSTACAS
(To Pimentel)
Over there, that's Roberto
Hernandez.
Biggest arms dealer and smuggler
from South America to Canada. You
need anything, let him know.
Hernandez, a powerful, serious-looking man in conversation
with some people, waves to Jostacas.
JOSTACAS
That's Jeraldo Soto over there.
Stone cold killer. Very bad news.
Stay away. People are afraid of
him.
Soto, sitting at a table with a few men and women, is
ordering from a menu. Jostacas turns to his table.
JOSTACAS
Seven Hundred and Fifty Pesos for
all this food and wine. What do you
think?
PIMENTEL
I think it's awesome. Never had the
opportunity to this kind of Living.
INT. CLUB - BATHROOMS
There are four guys visible at the urinals. Some are washing
hands. Others are snorting. The door opens, Soto drags in a
girl. He starts undressing her. She doesn't want to, moves
away. He slaps her, hard.
SOTO
Take that shit off now, Puta!
GIRL
You have no right!
SOTO
I got a right to touch you. I got a
right to look at you. I got a right
to fuck you. Shit, any man has a
right...if the money is right. Take
it off.
A few guys jump on Soto, restrain him long enough for the
girl to get away. When she gets out, Soto shakes off a guy,
stabs another one. He follows her out.
INT. FRONT OF RESTROOMS
The girl is down on the ground. A group of people surround
her, helping her. Soto pushes them aside, some fight back.
He overpowers them. He moves to the girl. She crawls away
from him.
SOTO
Come here. Now!
GIRL
You're drunk.
From the back section comes Pimentel. He's looking happy, but
bulls and pushes people out of the way. He sees the girl
crawl, continues until Soto pushes him.
SOTO
Where the fuck you going, fucking
Pendejo?
Tense look on Soto's face. Pimentel's smile fades. He becomes
angry. Soto pushes him.
SOTO
I'm gonna kill her. But you, I'll
turn you into my Trophy, you fat
fuck.
Pimentel doesn't say anything. Soto pushes him again.
SOTO
Are you crazy? You know you will
die now.
He rips the drink out of Pimentel's hand. Soto reaches into
his Jacket and pulls his gun. Pimentel sees.
PIMENTEL
Chinga tu Madre.
The girl grabs Soto's leg. Soto slaps her. Pimentel takes his
.45 Out and guns down Soto. He shoots Soto Six times, then
two more when he's down.
INT. RODRIGUEZ'S MANSION - DAY
Rodriguez is sitting at his sofa, surrounded by lawyers and
legal representatives, among a few henchmen and the maids.
RODRIGUEZ
What do I pay your Fucking Legal
Jotos for? To go around and suck
each other off, while important
information slips by?
LAWYER 2
We didn't know. Nobody wants to say
anything anymore, since he killed
Consuelo. People are saying that
Oaxaca is his now.
Rodriguez throws his Cigar down in a fit of rage.
RODRIGUEZ
I hate that Fucking Son Of a Bitch!
First, he degrades me by killing my
partner and sending, hey, sending
his body to my doorstep. My
children laid eyes on that body.
Then he takes over. And now this. I
should have sent a hit squad right
after he survived Romero's last
time. And now this.
He slams his hands on the table top, rocking the glasses and
bottles, then walks away from it.
RODRIGUEZ
And what's worse is, I lost a lot
of money there. Had to borrow more.
And what do you think will happen,
if we send the replacement there?
The lawyers are about to say something, then:
RODRIGUEZ
He will kill him. Just like
Romero's Puto. And this time we
won't see a body. How could you
fuck up like this?
LAWYER 1
That was Romero's problem. He
didn't act quickly enough.
RODRIGUEZ
And what will the Costa Ricans say
of me when I don't send them the
400 Keys of coke over the next
months they bought from us? They
will send a fucking hit squad up
here. There's gonna be war on the
streets.
LAWYER 3
So we need to send Warkowitz out on
the street again.
RODRIGUEZ
Warkowitz is dead too. That fuck
Consuelo got what was coming to
him.
LAWYER 4
It's good that you didn't send a
squad and listened to us. A gang
war has been avoided. Listen to us
again and wait to see what happens.
RODRIGUEZ
And where the fuck is Romero?
INT. WAREHOUSE MAGAZINE - NIGHT
Boxes and Crates are loaded up on the trucks parked in the
driveway. Dockworkers are scurrying all over the Warehouse,
shouting in Spanish. They are packaging boxes then load them
onto the trucks. Four men walk in, seemingly looking like the
rest of the Dock Workers. One taps the Dock Foreman on the
Shoulder. It's Jimenez, and he's flanked by Jose, Marco and
Trujillo.
JIMENEZ
We spoke a while ago, my name is
Jose Jimenez. We're buying some
Stuff from you.
The Dock Foreman, surprised, lifts his hat. He shakes hands
with Jimenez. His name is Gonzalo.
GONZALO
Mr. Jimenez...nice to see you
again.
JIMENEZ
Mr. Aparada. Real pleasure.
The Foreman shouts a command to another worker to take over,
leading Jimenez further into the Warehouse.
INT. SPECIAL LOCKUP HALLWAY
Four guards stand in front of the door, armed to the teeth.
The foreman says something in Spanish, three move to the
side, one unlocks the door. All four constantly gaze at
Jimenez and his three guys, and their movements.
INT. SPECIAL LOCKUP
Inside, the lockup doesn't look any different than a large
Bank safe.
If the warehouse got bombed, the safe would be the only thing
left standing. The foreman unlocks a gate, then moves through
by himself.
FOREMAN
You will have to leave your weapons
here.
JIMENEZ
We don't have any.
The foreman waves them through. They pass uneasily through
the metal detector. As if they were in a Police Station.
INT. SPECIAL LOCKUP
Jimenez, Marco, Jose and Trujillo are checking out the Coke.
The Foreman is talking to somebody in the Background.
JIMENEZ
Is this all the Piedra?
FOREMAN
Plus Five keys when the deal is
done. We discussed that at Three
Hundred Twenty Three thousand
pesos.
JIMENEZ
We will be needing some time to
move this.
FOREMAN
You can take some of our trucks.
For a small, regular rental fee.
You also talked about a business
deal?
JIMENEZ
Pimentel wants to buy your place
here. If you agree you will be
making maybe three times as much
money as now.
Foreman thinks for a second, swivels in his chair.
FOREMAN
I'm sorry. I'm not interested. I
run a legitimate business here. And
I operate independently, but under
the supervision of Mr. Consuelo.
JIMENEZ
Would you be interested in
spreading out your business
operations, say as far as Oaxaca?
You will still be independent.
Under our supervision and
Legitimacy.
FOREMAN
It's Tempting, but I have already
made up my mind. And Mr. Consuelo
wouldn't like it if we were to
break off with him. He has
Implemented his own Policy here.
JIMENEZ
Then you must not be too happy with
your latest income. Mr. Consuelo
sleeps with the fish now. And his
remaining people will be coming for
you.
Foreman suddenly gets a change of heart. He grows anxious.
FOREMAN
I'll help in any way I can.
JIMENEZ
Those guys know that you were
working together with Martinez.
They will kill you.
FOREMAN
You work for them, don't you?
JIMENEZ
I work for a man who is interested
in buying your place. This is the
perfect place for moving piedra.
FOREMAN
Mr. Consuelo is dead? Who killed
him?
JIMENEZ
(Assertive tone)
Doesn't matter! What matters is
this Shop's future.
Foreman doesn't say anything, but rather looks at Jimenez
like he's thinking.
JIMENEZ
And you're not making any money
right now. All the income is going
to Consuelo. In other words, my
boss.
FOREMAN
I'm supposed to believe that.
JIMENEZ
Consuelo Fucked up. He paid the
price.
FOREMAN
(relieved)
Alright. I've been waiting for a
long time to do better business.
JIMENEZ
They are out to get rid of their
enemies. It's time to choose a
side. Do or Die.
INT. ROMERO'S MANSION - NIGHT
Romero is having dinner with Family and other Friends.
Hernandez, his main Henchman walks in, tells Romero
something, then walks out. Romero excuses himself, then
follows Hernandez.
INT. PIMENTEL'S MANSION - NIGHT
Pimentel hangs the phone up, opens a Bottle of Beer and
slumps down in his Chair.
Jimenez is already sitting, smoke all around him, Cigar
burned halfway.
JIMENEZ
Who was that?
PIMENTEL
My Mother!
JIMENEZ
How is she?
PIMENTEL
She's getting better. Starting to
walk around....She don't want to
talk to me anymore. Said I'm dead
to her.
Pimentel is all lost. His gaze is long. He keeps staring into
the wall.
He drinks from his Corona. It falls to the ground. Pimentel
doesn't care.
JIMENEZ
Whatever you need for her, we'll do
it.
Pimentel sits slumped in his chair. He just nods at Jimenez's
answer.
PIMENTEL
And the Piedra?
JIMENEZ
We're moving Forty-Five Keys to a
Harbor in California. We got the
confirmation today.
Pimentel talks with a sludged lazy voice. Like he is drunk.
Except he is not.
PIMENTEL
Why?
JIMENEZ
It's safe there. It's got a hidden
Warehouse. The warehouse is one of
Foreman's. He's got guards. He
don't charge us nothing.
PIMENTEL
You're moving Forty-Five Keys of
Coke that haven't even been paid
for by the Americans?
JIMENEZ
This is foolproof. The tax we could
make with this load. Think about
it.
PIMENTEL
Pretty soon I will have every
Chicano and Joto on my ass who has
tried to make a quick buck the
other way....if We try to do what
you say. You saw what shit it got
us into back in Michoacan.
JIMENEZ
If we do what I say, things will be
alright Jefe!
PIMENTEL
That way things will be alright
when they write our names on our
Gravestones....we ever have any.
JIMENEZ
How so?
PIMENTEL
Imagine if they tell the Police we
stole the Fucking Piedra. Will they
enjoy handing our asses to us. They
will take everything we worked for.
JIMENEZ
Man, I'm busting my ass here and
you talk about Fucking Asses and
shit. What then? We get back up and
start again.
Pimentel is locked in deep thought, then downs the beer.
Jimenez turns on the TV. He flips through the channels,
skipping them lazily.
He stops at a news Channel. A big "SPECIAL NEWS" bulletin
appears.
It reads "MASSIVE GUNFIGHT IN DOWNTOWN AREA". Jimenez turns
up the volume.
JIMENEZ
Pimentel...look. Que suerte?
On the screen there is chaos. Dead bodies are covered with
sheets all over the main street.
A reporter moves in between them. Blood pours over the
streets, and on the street.
She steps into a pile of blood, swears loudly, then acts like
nothing happened.
REPORTER
....and Today a massive shoot-out
happened about three hours ago.
Reports say that Rival Gangs Campos
and Pistoleros got into an Hour
long fire fight before the Police
was able to intervene. The gangs
reportedly then teamed up against
the Police. Official reports
confirm Two Hundred Ten deceased
Gang Members, and Fifty Seven
Police Officers. It has marked the
biggest loss of life in a single
day in the Twenty-First century.
REPORTER 2
There were rumors about some kind
of special guns used.
REPORTER
The Police have reported that last
week, Six large Crates have been
stolen from their Lockup. They have
said that the Crates contain
illegal Assault Weapons and Machine
Guns, which have been confiscated
two months ago and are on the
waiting list to be destroyed by the
Department. As of now, they have
recovered only a handful of those
missing. About twenty percent, they
state.
Pimentel drops another beer on the desk.
PIMENTEL
Speak of the Fucking Diablo.
INT. VILLARMO'S EXPORTS - DAY
Villarmo is discussing business over the phone, over a desk
overflowing with papers. He hears somebody come in, without
looking, he shoos them away.
VILLARMO
Yes, yes I know it's
expensive....that's Why I checked
with you first.
VOICE ON PHONE
Then go ahead and buy it. The money
is in the shop safe.
VILLARMO
I know it is. 200,000 put this shop
into my hands.
I know where the Fucking Money is.
I been doing this for lots of
years.
Villarmo only notices the man when large wads of Money fall
on the Table. It's Jimenez. The man is mesmerized at the
sight of all the money.
JIMENEZ
And 750,000 puts it into mine.
Villarmo, stunned at what's just happened, leans to get a
better look at the man.
VILLARMO
I'll call you back. There's some
Customers here needing help.
Villarmo hangs the phone up, and passes a Courteous, but
Curious smile to the man, yet a professional smile.
VILLARMO
I'm sorry, Your name!
He stretches his hand out, the man shakes it.
JIMENEZ
That's not important now. Perhaps
another time. What's important now
is the future of this shop.
VILLARMO
You're interested in buying it?
JIMENEZ
Yes, and in expanding it beyond
this town. The time has come to
Expand.
VILLARMO
How far are we talking about?
JIMENEZ
Out to other states as well
as...throughout This one. Leave
everything to us. You just sell the
stuff.
VILLARMO
About time we got some real work
here, you know.
(takes out a paper) Sign here, good
man! Sign here and become filthy
rich.
QUICK SHOTS:
A) Jose, Marco and Trujillo enter a store. A few seconds
later gunfire erupts, filling the inside with muzzle flashes.
B) Jose, Marco and Trujillo speeding along the California
Bay, on a High Powered Speed boat, loaded with Disguised
Crates.
C)Marco, Jose and Trujillo drive off in a car, then seconds
later Two stores blow up.
D) Marco, Jose and Jesus load Boxes wrapped in Gift Paper
into a Taxi. They remove a few big ones, the cab drives off
then.
E) A map of Mexico appears. Blood runs over Coachella, Sonora
and Durango, states that Pimentel took over.
F) Close up on a calendar as Bullets punch through each day
from Feb. 14 to June 8 1970.
The Calendar then burns. Foreshadowing something.
INT. RODRIGUEZ'S OFFICE - DAY
Rodriguez is talking with some of his henchmen. He's in a
frantic Panic.
RODRIGUEZ
Yes I know he did. I know all about
the problems he caused down at the
dock 2 months ago. Lucky, they have
anything left down there. I have
been thrown half a year back
because of that.
HENCHMAN 1
What about the people working for
him? They must have organized
against us. It's gonna be hard.
He's got more power and influence
now. He's got the loyalty of the
People.
RODRIGUEZ
Class A People, no question about
that. He really knows how to pick
them....and How to get rid of them.
But we don't change our plans. Full
speed ahead.
INT. PIMENTEL'S OFFICE
The office is almost empty. Moving Men are taking the old
furniture out and bringing in new ones. Pimentel is directing
them where to put the furniture. He joins Jimenez and a
Lawyer on the Balcony.
EXT. BALCONY
Pimentel opens a beer and offers one to the Lawyer, who
respectfully Declines. Pimentel then drinks from it.
JIMENEZ
What Are we building those
Cylinders for?
LAWYER
Those Big Cylinders are, or were,
Water Tanks from a Closed Water
Processing Plant from California.
JIMENEZ
What are they doing here?
The Lawyer gives a little laugh.
LAWYER
No. At the Top, there will be Three
feet of water. The bottom of the
pan that holds the water is painted
with a Dark Color to give the
appearance of Depth. They will hold
all of your Coke underneath the
Water. It's tightly sealed.
JIMENEZ
(Curious)
How do we get the Piedra in there?
Through some kind of trap Door.
LAWYER
The Water drains out, the Pan lifts
up. The piedra is stored underneath
the pan. Imagine 35 Feet of Piedra.
And with no Leakage, it's a safe
procedure. You have your Standard
ladder on the side of Tank A. All
six are connected with Bridges on
top.
PIMENTEL
(To Jimenez)
What happened to those Forty Five
Keys you were moving to California?
JIMENEZ
They are all accounted for. In
these tanks.
PIMENTEL
We will hold the Piedra here until
the Puerto Rican's Pay us. And make
sure they pay today. They were
supposed to pay three days ago.
LAWYER
So, in each of these Tanks, you
could store up to 2,000 Kilos of
Coke. There will be a problem with
the safety inspector, cause you
will have to get one. But he agrees
to go along with our story for Ten
Thousand, each visit. Every three
months.
PIMENTEL
How do I know I won't have to
grease him. He's a Union Worker.
LAWYER
I know him personally. He did work
for us back home.
LAWYER
I talked to an Associate recently,
and he says that a Man is
interested in doing business with
you.
PIMENTEL
Who the fuck is it?
JIMENEZ
Jose Bodal. He's based out of
Durango. He wants to buy Fifteen
Keys I asked around, turns out he's
been thrown out. He just want to
make a living.
LAWYER
I'll call him and set a deal on
Wednesday. It's a deal for 15 Keys,
like Jimenez says.
They're good buyers. They're
willing to negotiate prices.
PIMENTEL
(to Jimenez)
When the rest of the Piedra gets
here, have a few men load it into
the Tank. Make sure there are no
fuck ups.
JIMENEZ
Don't worry. We will take care of
it.
PIMENTEL
I want the best security possible.
Never know.
JIMENEZ
There are three more loads. They
came from New York, California and
Illinois. Supposedly they are the
best.
PIMENTEL
Let's get the next group down
there.
QUICK SHOTS OF:
A) Pimentel talking on the Phone, split screen with another
drug dealer. They Laugh and Converse. Pimentel opens a Beer.
B) Pimentel opens up Restaurants, Shops and his own Beer
Brewery.
C) Pimentel, Jimenez and Trujillo talking with the Mayor of
Oaxaca, where Trujillo cuts a red tape, signifying the
restoration of the Ancient Mayan and Aztec Temples.
D) A desk, where money falls on it. Endless wads of money
fall around the desk, engulfing it. They slowly fill the room
until it is full.
E) Pimentel, with Jimenez, Trujillo and Jesus in a
restaurant, Jimenez is negotiating a deal with a drug lord.
They all laugh and the Drug Lord signs a Paper. They all then
Shake hands.
F) The same Room where the desk is, buried under money. Half
the room is buried with money.
More keeps falling from the top. Jimenez is making a deal
with a few guys, and is signing a paper deal.
A partially burned calendar skips through it's months, stops
at May, 1992.
INT. PIMENTEL'S OFFICE - DAY
Marco and Jose burst in. Jesus and Trujillo follow them,
carrying a box with them. They sit on the Table, in front of
Pimentel.
PIMENTEL
Is Jimenez back yet?
TRUJILLO
No. But you got something. Jimenez
called. He'll be another three
days.
PIMENTEL
See what it is.
Marco opens the top of the Box. His face changes to disgust
as he puts his hands to his mouth to stop the puke.
Trujillo stares at the Box for a second, then falls into the
chair.
PIMENTEL
(Picks up the Beer)
What is it?
Pimentel takes a peek into the box, then drops the Bottle,
which shatters the glass on the table.
Inside, there is the Severed Head of Verrano, Eyes removed
along with his Hair.
A note is pinned on the side saying "NICE TO DO BUSINESS WITH
YOU", "THE NORTH".
MARCO
Who the fuck would do this?
Pimentel doesn't say anything yet. For, what seems a full
minute, he thinks, finally looking up to Marco.
PIMENTEL
We wait for Jimenez, then go to
those Fucking Pig's Hideout and we
leave nothing standing.
Marco understands after a second of thought. He, Jose, Jesus
and Trujillo run out of the room.
Pimentel removes a picture on the wall, opens a huge safe
behind it, then takes out an AK47. With it, he brings a bag
takes out 10 magazines along with a few Bombs.
He slips all the Bombs and Magazines into his Suit Pockets.
EXT. MARGOS COMPANY LINE - DAY
This is a nearly finished structure. The Lower Parts
finished, the top parts under Heavy Construction.
Is is built near a Forest. Three unmarked vans are parked in
front of it. A few guards stand guard.
One lights a cigarette, while the other makes a move on the
Chess set.
INT. 3RD FLOOR MARGO'S
Romero, the Head of the Thug Gang, unlocks a Container with a
Moving Company Logo on it, opens it and steps back.
A couple men look inside. It's Cocaine on one side and
Marijuana on the other.
Guards cover the floor with Silenced UZI'S behind their
Backs.
Romero steps into the container. He produces a knife and
slices open a bag of Cocaine and Weed.
One man comes in, tests it. It's good.
ROMERO
Load it. We don't have much time.
A man approaches Romero. Romero flicks away a burned out
cigarette.
MAN 1
What about him?
Romero looks at him.
ROMERO
That Fuck? He won't come, not with
Verrano as dog food, and Jimenez
away on business.
MAN 1
What if he still comes, Romero? I'm
not staying to get killed then.
ROMERO
LOAD. And get this piece of shit...
Romero looks at a Tied up Astar.
ROMERO
....in The car. He's giving me a
Head Ache. (Pops a Pill) Fucking
Maricon. You want all the Money?
You Load!
He turns towards Astar.
ROMERO
And you. This time you will
negotiate better. Or I will not
negotiate with your family anymore.
The Drugs are loaded up. The Two Vans sit There. The Men
discuss Business. The men are then shot through the Head.
EXT. MARGOS COMPANY LINE
Four Cars bracket into the Company's yard. Men get out, armed
with AK's, M-16 and UZIs.
INT. 3RD FLOOR MARGO'S
Romero, realizing something's up, runs to the Windows.
He only sees Four parked cars, then hears gunshots on the
floors below. He picks up an UZI.
ROMERO
hat the fuck is going on here?
INT. 1ST FLOOR MARGO'S
Romero's thugs open fire at Pimentel's Henchmen, not killing
any.
The Henchmen, clear the first floor. A quick gunfight opens
up in the back, the gunmen are killed.
Pimentel's Henchmen kill and get killed.
INT. 3RD FLOOR MARGO'S
More thugs get ready to engage. They open fire on the now
Brutally tactical Henchmen, both sides losing a lot of men.
Bombs go off on a few sides. Romero gets out of the Action
and runs to the back.
INT. BACKROOM
Romero comes to a dead end. He eyes both sides, then turns to
leave, only to be surprised by Pimentel, aiming his AK
straight at Romero. Romero moves back into the Open.
PIMENTEL
Romero?
ROMERO
Hello Pimentel.
Pimentel looks around the room. He spots an open newspaper.
The Feds are on the front page.
PIMENTEL
They know what happened at the
docks?
ROMERO
I never give anything of any info
to them. I keep my mouth shut, you
fuck.
Pimentel doesn't say anything for a moment. He thinks about
something.
PIMENTEL
And the deal yesterday. Stiff us,
keep the Money and your Piedra,
live like a king?
Pimentel shoots a round into Romero's leg. Romero howls with
pain and weaves.
ROMERO
I would have never.
PIMENTEL
Did you kill Verrano?
ROMERO
NO! I'm telling you. Believe me!
Pimentel shoots him into the other leg.
ROMERO
I did it, I give up. I killed him.
PIMENTEL
You killed him. And then you were
going to kill us too.
I barely start working with
Verrano, you kill him. Your plan
didn't work out.
Romero shakes his head.
ROMERO
It's not like that. I swear. The
fuck owed me for some time now.
PIMENTEL
(Mocks him)
It's not like that....I'll Tell you
what it's like.
Pimentel shoots Romero twice. When it's all over, they go
down to the loaded Vans.
PIMENTEL
When we done here, take the Piedra
Vans and let's go home. Jimenez
should come back anytime now.
EXT. PIMENTEL'S MANSION
Here it's chaos. Pimentel's Henchmen are engaged in Shoot
outs with Romero's remaining thugs.
Fires are burning at some places. The Eight Water Tanks all
have their tops blown off.
Thugs are loading piedra into buckets, which they lower down
to the Vans. The Vans come to a screeching halt.
Pimentel and His Henchmen get out and immediately start
shooting. Henchmen are running everywhere, killing the Thugs,
and visa versa.
Pimentel throws a Bomb down the stairs and blows a few thugs
with the stairs into hell.
He is wounded in the Arm and retreats. Jesus kills 5 - 10
Thugs, then is cornered and killed. Pimentel is running up to
the 2nd floor, walk around balcony.
From the top, he mows about 10 thugs down, who are running up
the stairs towards him. Turning around, he engages some
Thugs.
Jose and Marco kill their way through the 2nd floor, but
don't see 3 bombs being thrown into the room they're in, and
BOOM! -- they are blown to pieces.
Trujillo, in his hands he holds a Heavy Machine gun, mows
down what looks like 20 - 30 thugs. They keep coming. He mows
down more and more and is shot from the back.
He falls from the water tower, down to the ground. Pimentel
is still is the shoot-out. Bullets hit him as he reloads,
then sprays bullets into the thugs.
Mortally wounded, he stumbles along the path, all the way up
to one of the Water Towers. He kills More thugs, then with
his AK in hand, topples over the railing.
INT. WATER TOWER # 3
Slow Motion as Pimentel falls through the Water Tower.
He lands on his back, half his body sinking into the Piedra.
Gushing blood as well as spitting it up.
The blood turning the Piedra red. A long moment on Pimentel,
then --
CLOSE ON PIMENTEL'S FACE
-- A Sad Face turns into a Happy one. Pimentel dies, amidst
his life's dream. Soaked in his red ambition.
He lies there, quietly laying on top of the 1400 Kilos of
Piedra.
Sirens get closer and Closer. The camera moves out of the
cylinder and to an above shot of Pimentel's Mansion.
It slowly rises up, past everything. Past the Dead bodies and
the Thugs stealing and Plundering.
Tons of Bundles of Cash are dragged out into the open and
divided amongst the thugs.
