Babz Buzz – 18-B: Jason Bortz talks about subtext - post author Don

As promised in Babz Buzz 18, Jason Bortz talks about subtext

Jason worked onstage and on screen as an actor, director and writer for over 30 years, winning several awards for his craft both in front and behind the camera across the country; in Seattle, he was a core member of the Seattle Cinema Co-Op, workshopping scripts for such notables as Tom Skerritt, D.B. Sweeney, and Ned Beatty. In NYC he received a Certificate of Completion from the National Shakespeare Conservatory. In Los Angeles he coached stage-to-screen actors while a core member for the only state-sanctioned NPO to teach and perform Shakespeare in high-risk inner city schools.

Jason has produced and directed over a dozen short films, including the award-winning ’Scratching the Surface: A Journey with HEART’ which took he and his crew to Kenya, Africa, and has been featured in publications such as The Other Journal, Looking Closer and Christianity Today for his insights into the craft and culture.

A featured speaker/instructor at educational facilities such as the Art Institute of Sacramento and the Crocker Art Museum Filmmaker Series, Jason has also optioned two feature screenplays, provides script coverage and is represented by the WGA’s Silver Bitela Agency.

Jason currently sits as the Media Director for the 501c3 “Stand Out Talent” in Roseville, CA, where he and his wife Jennifer operate the historic Tower Theatre, providing a venue for live performance and media artists seeking exposure, instruction and an excellent venue for their work.

Jason was a guest on SimplyRadio in November 2010
