EXT. LARGE METROPOLIS – 3 PM
TEXT APPEARS:
THE YEAR 20XX
Leading a sweep thorough the city streets to a large CIVIC CENTRE,
where a robotics exposition is being held.
INT. CIVIC CENTER
Many people are walking around all over the large convention floor of
the Civic Centre with various creations of robotics technology.
Two particular scientists of robotics: [CU on LIGHT, then WILY]
DR. THOMAS XAVIER LIGHT, a man with fluffy white hair and matching
beard.
DR. ALBERT W. WILY, an older man with a large grey mustache and balding
gray hair to match.
[Both men are wearing long sleeve oxford style shirts with tie and
slacks.]
LIGHT and WILY are situated in their personal booth, preparing to
display their presentation to the robotics community.
WILY
(Agitated)
Time to see now whether or not it will work this time…
LIGHT
It will. We've spent nearly a year perfecting the technology.
All of a sudden a man over a loudspeaker says:
Now is the time for all presenters to report to the stage for
presentations.
WILY and LIGHT use a dolly hover machine to float their presentation
over to the stage. After one scientist's presentation of a robot that
is a personal servant, LIGHT and WILY guide their project onto the
stage. LIGHT grabs the microphone, looks out to the crowd, and begins
to speak.
LIGHT
The creation you will see before you will astound you. A new wave of
technology has come upon us — The copy system.
WILY removes the straps over the tall, wooden crate and LIGHT removes
the top facing the crowd to reveal a young man inside. The crowd
gasps, confused and scared of what they are seeing on stage. LIGHT
walks up to the young man and presses his two fingers (fore and middle)
against the back of the young man's neck and its eyes open up.
The young man is tall and slender with brown hair and dark brown eyes.
LIGHT
This, ladies and gentleman, is a robot. His name is ROCK. His primary
process is for tools. Construction, demolition, mechanics, and other
operations are just a part of his programming. In his central cerebral
unit is the copy system.
ROCK walks out of the crate and stares out to the crowd, taking in
statistics of certain people he zooms in on with his vision. As LIGHT
speaks to the crowd, ROCK just stares out to them.
ROCK
Hi there, Dr. Light.
LIGHT
Hello Rock.
Now everybody, say you have a machine that does a certain kind of job
or possess a certain trait. The technology of the copy system allows a
robot to possess qualities that were never before implemented into the
original programming. Rock here, in addition to the A.I. system
introduced last year, has the Copy system implanted.
Come over Rock.
ROCK
Sure.
LIGHT
This robot's function is welding and cutting. Rock I want you to copy
him.
Rock walks over to the little robot and places his hand on it.
In Rock's eyes schematics, mechanism formulas, and various other IMAGES
flash before him—in a flash, its over. Rock takes a thick piece of
metal and his index finger TURNS INTO A CUTTING BEAM. The heat beam
cuts the metal perfectly in half.
LIGHT
As you can see ladies and gentlemen, the copy system technology knows
no bounds. Rock's original construction did not include cutting beams.
I stand here, point made.
The people give a resounding applause. LIGHT thanks the crowd, as does
ROCK.
WILY, on the other hand, stands in the backend of the stage with a
sneering look in his eyes that could stab daggers. He stares at his
colleague and the humanoid at the front of the stage as he stands on
the background, within the shadows.
EXT. (CIVIC CENTER) PARKING LOT – 7 PM
LIGHT, WILY, and ROCK all walk outside from the Hall of Research
building towards their hover cars while averting the traffic of
departing vehicles. WILY taps LIGHT on the shoulder and whispers into
his ear…
LIGHT
Rock, I want you to wait by the car.
ROCK
Sure.
LIGHT walks with WILY to another area of the parking lot.
WILY
(Sarcastically)
I'd say this went well.
LIGHT
Yes, I think so as well.
WILY
This type of technology could do many things outside our minds' reach.
LIGHT
Yes. (Chuckles) What will you are doing later on, Albert?
WILY
Oh, I'll run by the factory and do a last check on the four master
workers.
LIGHT
OK, then. I'll see you later.
WILY
Bye.
WILY forms a dreaded expression on his face as he sees LIGHT walk off
to ROCK and his car. He continues to stare as both his colleague and
the robot fly off into the skyway traffic. WILY then turns and enters
his dark-green car.
INT. - DR. LIGHT'S LABORATORY – 9 PM
ROCK is under a hovercraft on a roller board fixing a dysfunctional
engine. He quickly uses various tools and manuals to repair it into
perfect condition. LIGHT is very impressed, as is his sister robot,
ROLL.
ROLL'S design is of a beautiful young lady with golden blond hair and
blue eyes. Her main functions are to keep the lab and household tidy
and to be memory storage for Dr. Light's experiments, projects, and
other miscellaneous items. She regularly dresses in attire that has
red color qualities.
Today the attire is a red sleeveless dress with button up from the hem
to the collar.
ROLL observes Rock's mechanic prowess as she shape-shifts her left hand
into a small, grey vacuum cleaner to suck up the dust.
LIGHT goes through his storage area, in the outside shed of the lab,
rummaging through his stuff.
INT. ROBOTCORP PRODUCTION FACTORY – LATE NIGHT
WILY slowly walks down a hall which holds the shell chassis of the four
prototype robots, all vary in sizes, design, and in color schemes. One
fairly small robot is white and blue w/ a winter coat on; a thinner one
is orange and white with a wedge on its head; a tall hulking robot of
red, yellow, and black; and another slim, gangly robot is red and grey
with a grate on its face. WILY grins as he looks at each and every one
of them. He walks into the office. There WILY observes four bundles
of schematics on a desk that go to each of the master robots. The
labels for each bundle are:
Gutsman. Number 004 – Wilderness
Iceman. Number 005 – Antarctic Research
Fireman. Number 006 – Waste Disposal
Cutman. Number 003 – Timber felling
All four appear on the top of the drawings in bold lettering. WILY
curls the papers back into rolls and places them back on the desk. He
then opens the front door out and exits toward his car.
EXT. DR. LIGHT'S COMPOUND – SUNRISE
The sun rises above Dr. Light's compound. Within the lab ROCK is still
at work on the bad engine.
ROCK
(Cheerfully)
Done! That's 7 hours straight work there.
LIGHT enters the kitchen, groggily, while ROLL is fixing him breakfast.
She is flipping pancakes, heating bacon, preparing egg omelets, and
fixing coffee all at once. LIGHT just stands there in a state of
outer-mindedness watching his creation zip from one place to another.
ROLL
How are you Dr. LIGHT?
LIGHT
Tired and groggy.
ROLL
Hmm… don't worry; this breakfast will help you out.
LIGHT
Thank you ROLL. Where is ROCK?
ROLL
He's still in the lab. I think he's done fixing the hovercraft.
LIGHT
Really?
[LIGHT walks into the lab and sees ROCK cleaning his hands of all the
oil and grime collected from the work.]
[ROCK notices Dr. LIGHT has walked in.]
ROCK
Good morning.
LIGHT
Good morning to you too, ROCK. I hear you finished the repairs.
ROCK
Yes, sir.
LIGHT takes a moment and stares at ROCK in utter amazement.
LIGHT
Astounding.
INT. ROBOTCORP MEETING ROOM – 10 AM
Dr. LIGHT enters into a large room with tall windows in the back and
highlighted by the long, rectangular table with executive board members
of the corporation. LIGHT glances at each and every member and sits
down in 3rd seat from the front door on the left side of the room. The
C.E.O. of the company, CHARLES CAIN, who sits at the head of the table,
sips his coffee and begins the meeting.
CAIN
Well let's get right to it. Dr. Thomas Xavier Light. For the past
seven years under our grant to your robot breakthroughs I must say you
are one of the few that have been worth the time and money. But we've
noticed a few snags in your operation.
LIGHT
Excuse me?
CAIN
Your colleague, a one Dr. Albert Wily, has not been producing the
results like you have been.
LIGHT (nervously)
I was not aware of this.
(Beat)
CAIN
Yeah, well…
I had a long talk with the other members and we are prepared to offer
another grant.
LIGHT
Are you serious? My God… uh--
CAIN
But, this will only happen if Wily is cut from the program.
LIGHT
(Surprised)
Cut? B-B-But the man has worked with me with 20 years, he's my friend,
and I just can't count him out all of a sudden!
CAIN gets out of his chair and walks toward LIGHT. He hovers over him
and gives him a stern stare. CAIN places his right hand on Light's
left shoulder and says in a reassuring tone of voice,
CAIN
Look at this from our point of view, Dr. Light. Wily hasn't been
giving us the results that we've been demanding from one scientist of
his caliber. Especially given how much money this corporation has
generously supplied him in his endeavors. So you see how we, the
board, came to this decision.
[LIGHT looks downward in despair; clenching his teeth tightly while his
mouth remains closed.]
LIGHT
Yeah.
CAIN
We are just as demanding on you, as well… doctor. That is why this
extended grant is offered.
The question is yes or no?
LIGHT closes his eyes and exhales.
EXT. WILY'S HOUSE – 7 PM
LIGHT exits his car, holding his head down in shame and guilt, walks up
to Wily's front door of his house. The house is of a brick, light
brownish exterior with a long walkway from the front door to the
driveway. LIGHT rings the doorbell once and waits. After a few
moments, he knocks on the door three times. WILY finally answers the
door. He looks through the peephole, sees it's LIGHT, and opens the
door with the chain lock still on.
WILY
Eh . . . hello there, Tom. What can I do for you?
LIGHT
We need to talk. It's important.
WILY
(Confused)
Oh . . . sure, O.K.
WILY closes the door enough to remove the chain locks and opens the
door, allowing LIGHT to enter. They both sit in the living room. It
is decorated with little mechanical works of art.
WILY
Want a drink?
LIGHT
No thanks, Albert.
WILY reaches over to his small rectangular shaped table and reaches
over for a bottle of Scotch and a small glass. He pours in enough to
fill the cup halfway. There is a moment of silence until LIGHT finally
speaks.
LIGHT
Albert. I have got some very bad news for you.
WILY
What kind of bad news?
LIGHT
The kind that brought me to tell you first rather than a phone call
tomorrow morning.
WILY
Phone call? From whom?
LIGHT
RobotCorp. They're releasing you from your contract as of this
afternoon. They fired you.
WILY
God . . . damn; and how do you know of this?
LIGHT
It's a long story.
WILY
Well, I'm not going anywhere.
LIGHT
(Uncomfortably)
The C.E.O., Cain, offered a grant to extend the robotics advancement.
Only condition was that you were no longer involved in this project.
WILY
And you accepted I take it?
LIGHT
Yes. Not for you losing your job, but for advancing the research—
WILY
Get out.
LIGHT
Albert . . .
WILY
Leave. I won't say it again, Thomas.
LIGHT gets up from his seat and exits WILY'S house. WILY is left in
the living room with his Scotch. LIGHT gets into his car, full of
despair, and drives home.
INT. CAIN'S OFFICE – NOON
Five days have passed…
CAIN is sitting in his large executive brown leather chair, reading
reports of the company's finances at the 12:00 mark, when he receives a
call from his secretary.
RING! RING! RING!
CAIN presses the speakerphone button to answer.
[Cut back and forth from WILY to CAIN'S reaction]
CAIN
Yes?
SECRETARY (on speakerphone)
There is a Mister—
All of a sudden, another voice cuts in, a man's voice.
WILY (on speakerphone)
Doctor! Doctor Albert Wily! Let me in you piece of shit!
CAIN is startled. He presses the red alarm button on the phone and
runs to lock the door but it's too late, WILY kicks the doors open and
confronts CAIN face to face.
WILY
Hello Charles. How's business?
CAIN (awkwardly)
Wily. What brings you here?
WILY
You didn't answer [from normal tone to SHOUTING] MY QUESTION!
CAIN
(Beat. Takes a gulp)
Business is good. Now you answer my question.
WILY
What brings me here is that you offered the grant to the wrong man.
CAIN
Excuse me?
WILY
Don't play coy with me. The thousands you'll spend on that cheat,
Light, to "further" robotic sciences.
CAIN
Oh. . . I see. This is about the decision not to include you in the
future program. Well let me tell you this Wily: I cut your ass from
this because you are sloppy. You are lazy. You are—
WILY
YOU are a damned liar. I was the one who originally conceived the
concept that the humanoid, Rock's, technology is based upon. I--
Then, two large guards in black clothing enter the office and grab WILY
by the arms, pulling him out. WILY is wiggling side to side in an
insane fury screaming aloud as the guards take him out the building and
finally at the door they toss him to the steps. WILY gets up and looks
around him and begins to rub his forehead. He runs to his car and jets
back home.
INT. WILY'S HOUSE (WORK ROOM) – 1 PM
WILY takes a calmed look at his work and schematic sketches of
robotics. He stares blankly at pictures of him and Light, and of some
small accolades he earned in his career of robotics. He then takes a
picture off the wall and smashes it against the desk. WILY does the
same to all the pictures in frame and he breaks up the awards. The
pictures inside are torn to shreds. The awards are hammered into the
ground and torn apart as well.
WILY is surrounded in broken glass and cracked plastic and bent steel.
He begins to have visions of all the times he was overlooked by his own
friend and former colleague, Thomas Light. The visions drive him into
a state of perpetual madness.
INT. ROBOTCORP FACTORY – 1 AM
LIGHT walks into the factory to see WILY at the command console for the
assembly line. LIGHT stands tall to WILY face to face and stares him
down with intensity.
LIGHT
Where have you been Albert?
[WILY shrugs off LIGHT'S questions, and then turns his back to him.]
WILY
Where was I? I was paying Cain a visit. To tell of your un-called for
overshadowing of me. You always have you traitor.
LIGHT
(Commanding)
Overshadowing?! Traitor?!
WILY
Yes.
LIGHT
(In disbelief)
Overshadowing of what?!
WILY
You!
LIGHT'S eyes widen upon hearing WILY'S reason. He [LIGHT] stands still
and silent for a few seconds, as does WILY.
WILY
You look surprised, Thomas. Your achievements and ideas have always
overshadowed mine. As have you as a person.
(Beat)
The very first prototype, number 000! I received absolutely no credit!
The same technology that Rock uses! That Roll uses! That these
goddamn robots here use! NO CREDIT! Nothing for me and ALL FOR YOU!
LIGHT
BULLSHIT!
Complete bullshit, Albert! You know damn well you received credit for
the work on the technology. This is all about your own selfish
ambition!
WILY
(Surprised)
Where do you place yourself in calling my ambition "selfish"?!
LIGHT
Well what then? Respect? Your so-called plea for rights?
WILY
My rightful title. I'm afraid you, my friend, are overrated.
LIGHT blinks his eyes in stun and circles his temples with his fingers.
LIGHT
If that is so...
(Beat)
…then so are you Albert.
Hours pass and Wily remains at the factory. He sits in his office in
the late hours of the night.
Wily is furious. He violently walks back and forth muttering, cursing
under his breath. Wily takes his chair and smashes the windows in the
office.
He then exits the ravaged room.
Wily kicks some of the machinery and smashes some small equipment
DOWNSTAIRS. He notices in front of him the holding cases that contain
the four worker robots: Cutman, Iceman, Gutsman, and Fireman.
Wily makes an evil grin on his face.
WILY
Ooh… yes. Them. All FOUR of them…
There are others as well.
First to kick start these four. Then take the most advanced of this
breed.
INT. LIGHT LAB – NIGHT
Rock works at numerous small machines in the lab.
Meanwhile, in THE FRONT ROOM, Wily hacks through the door lock. He
makes his quiet steps to the bedrooms.
One door is opened and Wily finds Roll. He quickly unveils a stunner
and zaps Roll. She shuts down instantly. Roll falls over and makes a
thud on the floor.
Back in THE LAB,
Rock hears the noise from inside the house. He walks through the halls
and to the bedroom area. Rock looks over and notices Roll's door is
opened slightly.
ROCK
Her door is usually closed at this hour.
Rock opens the door to her room and sees Roll staring blankly at the
ceiling, a dead like stare. Suddenly, ZAP!!!!
Wily attacks Rock with the stunner, shutting him down as well. Wily
then turns his attention to the remaining bedroom. He opens it and
sees Light, sleeping quite heavily.
He walks to Light's side and leans over him.
WILY
I am taking what is mine Thomas. Sweet dreams.
INT. ROBOTCORP FACTORY – LATER THAT NIGHT
Rock and Roll are reactivated. They struggle as their bodies are
locked down with heavy metal straps.
WILY
Don't bother squirming. Those straps are titanium, a very tough metal
to break.
ROCK
Doctor Wily? Why are me and Roll here?
WILY
Because robot you are merely property, as opposed to what the great
Doctor Light thinks. He considers you as something more. But the fact
of the matter is that you are MY property. And MY PROPERTY must obey
ME!
Wily approaches the control console and enters in key commands.
Devices pop out of the tables that Rock and Roll are strapped down to.
The devices stick to each robot's head.
WILY
Reprogramming is a difficult process. Since your neural core is much
embedded into your cerebral cavity, the reprogramming must be done via
"hacking."
ROLL
Stop it! Stop!
WILY
No.
Rock seizures as does Roll. They are resisting reprogramming. Rock
realizes a hand is free. He turns his arm to where his palm faces up.
Some of his skin is torn doing this.
Rock then forces his arm upward. The titanium clamp cracks at the
attachments to the table. Wily takes no notice.
Rock continues until finally his arm is free! Wily hears the breaking
noise and turns to see Rock freeing his other arm.
Wily frantically searches for his stunner. He's misplaced it. Rock
freed his arms and now removes the hacking instruments in his head.
The legs are freed next as well.
Rock now concentrates on Roll, who has lost control of herself. Her
reprogram process is at 60% and steadily rising. Rock removes the
instruments from her head. Roll snaps back to normal.
ROLL
Rock! Look out!
Wily charges at Rock with the stunner. Rock moves in time to dodge;
the stunner hits near the clamp of Roll's right leg.
Wily gathers himself as Rock stands on alert. Wily lounges at Rock
again. Rock grabs the stunner out of Wily's hand and breaks it. Rock
then pushes Wily a good distance away; he topples over a table on the
opposite end of the room.
Rock goes back to Roll's table where she has freed all but her right
arm. Rock frees it and the two run out of the room.
Wily gets up and notices that the computer and the machinery are
suffering error due to the reprogramming process. The devices act
erratically and then the console emits bursts of sparks while flashing
the words SEVERE ERROR in bold red lettering on its screen.
The screen then explodes.
Rock and Roll find themselves dodging falling objects in the hallway to
the exits. The building begins to catch fire in the factory lab.
Sparks burst from the console into Wily's face. WILY finds a crowbar
and goes on a psychotic rage to open a thick door to the outside, no
luck. The overload has now affected the factory floor machines as they
are acting erratic. Gears are chipping and breaking, heat begins to
exceed safe levels and catch fire to anything and everything.
Wily still manically attempts to escape, but is locked in by fire and
debris. The firefighting system went offline with the system failure.
The fire spreads to other sections of the factory, including some of
the oil barrels. The oil explodes in a violent burst of flames sending
debris across the building. Now the entire factory is ablaze and WILY
is standing in the middle of the flames. The madman begins to chuckle
at first. The chuckles become laughs, which grow into hysterical
laughter. The factory literally falls apart and WILY collapses to his
knees lost in his psycho rant. Outside, a ways away, an ONLOOKER calls
for the fire department.
ONLOOKER
911? The RobotCorp factory is on fire send help, now!
Minutes later the fire department arrives and attempt to put out the
fire that lit the night. When it was over, all the police and firemen
found were scrap metal… no trace of Dr. WILY was found among the
blackened rubble.
[FADE TO BLACK]
FADE IN TEXT:
ONE YEAR LATER. . .
EXT. BRIDGE – 11 AM
It's a beautiful day, a clear blue sky and a bright sun out. Cars move
along on the bridge, back and forth; to and from the city. Observing
all of the traffic activity is a humanoid robot, CUTMAN, whom is
standing on a middle separation block between lanes. He is clad in
orange and white-colored armor and has a wedge mechanism on his orange
head. He pans his vision side to side, and then looks above to view
the suspension cables to the bridge. CUTMAN makes a small grin on his
face, takes the wedge from his head, and hurls it to the suspension
cables. The wedge generates its own heat to white hot and slices
through the first set of cables to his left. Those cables fall to the
street; some smash through the top of some passing cars, others that
hit the ground halt traffic.
The bridge begins to teeter on its left side, slanting over. Numerous
cars on the road slide or flip over into the river. CUTMAN then takes
his wedge and hurls it toward the cables on the right side of the
bridge and they are cut down as well. The bridge itself begins to
collapse due to lack of suspension. The support beams compress and
collapse under the weight and the stretches of road are plummeted into
the water; crushing all underneath.
From above, a news traffic helicopter relays the image of the bridge
collapsing into the river.
CHOPPER REPORTER (C.R.)
Oh, my God. News 11, the (Golden Gate) Bridge is falling into the
river. My God… the cars and people falling in as you can see here, and
… wait—there is one person left standing at the foot of the bridge.
CUTMAN catches his wedge and looks above to see the news helicopter.
With the wedge in his hand, he leaps into the air before the bridge
falls beneath him and sends the wedge into the helicopter's direction.
C.R.
What the-- That sole person has leaped in front of us?! What's that?
PILOT, MOVE! OH, CHRIST!
Back in the newsroom, the image and sound become static. At the bridge
site, the helicopter has exploded after being cut into two halves.
CUTMAN catches the wedge while falling to the ground and lands safely
in the street riverbank. Suddenly, sirens blaring are approaching in
the distance.
CUTMAN
Sirens? The fools.
Police, fire trucks, and ambulances arrive to the scene and they all
see CUTMAN on arrival. CUTMAN takes wedge and slings it in a Frisbee-
like fashion at the row of emergency vehicles. They all explode in a
chain fashion. More vehicles arrive. Those saying "police" on the
side pour out S.W.A.T. teams in full armament. They take position and
open fire on CUTMAN. The bullets do literally nothing on his armored
chest.
S.W.A.T. member #1
What the hell? These bullets don't do anything.
S.W.A.T. leader
Gimme grenade launchers!
Four members of the S.W.A.T. team break out M79 grenade launchers and
lounge one shell after another. The road has been devastated in
explosion and surroundings are ignited into fire. CUTMAN still
remains—- unscathed.
CUTMAN
My turn now.
CUTMAN takes his wedge and splits it into dual halves. He leaps
forward and throws one half into the S.W.A.T. team and flips over to
appear behind the rest of the team and hurls the next half.
The halves cut down the team in pieces and the vehicles are just as
brutally destroyed. Many scream as they are mutilated and those
screams are overwhelmed in the vehicles exploding. All that remains
are burnt bodies and scrap metal in flames.
CUTMAN recovers his wedge halves and unites them to one. He then ducks
himself into a ball and instantly a sphere of his orange color wraps
him and launches into the sky.
The following news reports are covering every aspect of the robot
terror attack. Eyewitnesses are interviewed, the very few found
survivors who were on the bridge when it was destroyed and video caps
of workers trying to find survivors, but all they find are bodies that
have been crushed or drowned. Workers pull up wreckage from the river
and moving large slabs of the bridge while finding crushed cars and the
people inside.
Across the world, televisions are interrupted by the bridge destruction
now dubbed a "terrorist action." Suddenly the video feed is scrambled.
A static covers the screen and a VOICE is heard,
VOICE (garbled)
What you saw happen to that bridge was a warning.
The sound begins to become clearer in comprehension and the video
imagery is clearing up. The image reveals an elderly man of gruffly
gray hair around his bald scalp in a white lab coat, light blue oxford
shirt, and a red tie. It was a man thought dead, Doctor Wily.
WILY (ON TV)
Yes, a warning, and if what I want isn't given to me, there will be
more brutal acts of genocide until it is. Exactly one billion dollars
as rewards owed to me for MY breakthroughs in robotic sciences.
Please be warned that there are three others like him, my "Four
Horsemen." You will have seven days to comply. If you do not, well
then another one of the Horsemen will strike.
Have a nice day.
INT. DR. LIGHT'S COMPOUND, LAB – 9:30 AM
LIGHT sits on a stool in front of a small flat television screen with a
cup of coffee in his right hand. He stares blankly at the screen; he
then sips some of his coffee. He places the cup down onto the table,
thinking to himself.
LIGHT (VO)
So this is what comes to old friend?
In the hallway, ROCK and ROLL look on at a blank Dr. Light.
ROCK
Doctor Light seems troubled. Try to see what's wrong with him, Roll.
Maybe you can help more than I could.
ROLL
Alright.
ROLL slowly opens one of the large steel doors into the lab slowly, and
walks towards LIGHT, whom is still fixated on the TV. She taps him on
the shoulder. LIGHT is startled and swiftly turns to see ROLL. She
looks at him with concern places her hand on his shoulder.
ROLL
Feeling alright doctor?
LIGHT
Uh-uh . . . yes. I must have drifted off or something. It's time to
close the lab.
ROLL
OK. I'll go ahead and get this cup here.
LIGHT
Thank you, Roll.
After ROLL exits the lab with cup in hand, ROCK follows shortly after
she leaves; LIGHT shuts the doors together and enters a four digit code
on a keypad located on the right-side door. The lock beeps and the
light on the pad turns from green to red. All lights inside the lab
are shut off and the room becomes pitch black inside.
EXT. GARDEN – DAY
A SMALL REFLECTIVE DEVICE peers into an opening into the United Nations
building. Numerous world leaders and ambassadors meet within the main
hall. The device captures all of them inside the room.
Shouting of defense, immediate retaliation, and talks of "never
negotiating with terrorists" roared throughout the building. The
device captures all of them on video and in sound. When the meet was
completed, the device quickly left the area by foot. It looked like a
hard hat with little legs.
EXT. MOUNTAIN RANGE – 7:30 PM
We see a beautiful snow-capped mountain range that stretches as far as
the eye can see in all directions.
Suddenly a small yellow dot moves about the mountains. Closer in we
see it is a small robot. It has a shell with a jade-green line
wrapping around the entire whole and stopping on the front where there
is a cross (+) of the same tint of (jade) green. It treks across the
barren terrain on these small yellow feet with traction soles. This
particular robot is known as a MET.
As we go deeper into the mountain range, towards the fjords is a tall
wall of rock upon the mountain's side that doesn't exactly match the
coloring of the rest of the mountain. The mountain is a dark-gray
tint, while the discolored side is a few mild shades lighter.
The MET, then treks along a steep curb on the mountain side and walks
through the light rock wall to pass on inside to a large compound with
many technical instruments about; computers, screens, and other robots
operating about.
The MET continues to walk until he approaches WILY. WILY looks down at
the MET and says
You have returned. Let's see what our government plans on doing.
WILY places the MET upon a steel table and presses a button on the
rear, under the shell that lets one remove the shell. Among the
intricate machinery, WILY removes a card from one of its slots. He
places the card in a video console to his left and activates it. The
screen in front of him shows the White House from the rear, inside the
garden. WILY hears of the worlds' leaders plan of defense against
Wily's attack and any future attack.
WILY
So that is their game. They think this is some idle threat! No
matter; affairs of this manner will take additional persuasion.
WILY presses a red button on the table next to an intercom and say,
Wake FIREMAN and bring him before me.
Within the deeper bowels of the hideout in a dark chamber lie four tall
capsules. Each capsule holds the four Horsemen humanoids within and is
monitored by a small computer next to each one. The third capsule to
the left (or second to right in the middle) performs activity while the
other three are in a state of stand-by. The computer begins the
initial start-up sequences. The sequences include energy power-up,
weapons check, maintenance procedures, and mission objective downloads.
The start-up is complete and full activation commences. The capsule is
opened and Fireman's eyes open.
FIREMAN is a tall robot whose armor guards heavily against fire and
heat. His chassis is red and grey color schemes, and has a titanium
grate that covers the jaw of his skull. He is equipped with dual
cannons that shoot fire oriented attacks.
WILY approaches his creation in awe of the sheer power.
WILY
Ah, my "horseman." Fireman… your objective right now is to go North
City. Upon your arrival, BURN IT into the ground. Destroy all that
hinders your completion of the mission.
FIREMAN
Yes, Creator.
WILY
You are one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. You will not know
fear, nor will you know mercy or sympathy. You know completion, you
know destruction. NOW GO!
FIREMAN turned immediately 180 degrees to WILY and ran off to the rear
entrance of the mountain base. FIREMAN is now on a flat ground with
the sky as his ceiling. He takes his right arm and activates a small
keypad that forms within the chassis. He types in a few commands and
then crouches into a ball. A bright red spherical shape forms around
him, enveloping his body. The sphere jets off into the sky to land in
its destination while leaving a brief specter trail.
EXT. NORTH CITY – 7:40 PM
In the trendy city skyline of North City, the government has stationed
battle ready troops for the prevention of another attack. All of the
soldiers are armed to the teeth with full armament, military issue
automatic assault rifles, and other weapons. They stand weary and
alert alike, while the citizens live out their lives day to day.
Suddenly, the bright red pod darts from the sky; it lands in the
central area of the city. The sphere shape disappears and FIREMAN
rises up. His landing left a small crack wave in the asphalt below.
The military rush to block off the area and confront the humanoid.
Many people evacuate the buildings in a flurry. FIREMAN just stands
watching all the activity around him. Another squadron of troops
rushes up to FIREMAN in battle positions with the rifles pointed at
him. The squadron surrounded him in a circle.
TROOP LEADER
(commanding)
STAY WHERE YOU ARE!
FIREMAN lets out a small chuckle and takes two steps forward.
TROOP LEADER
(ANGRY)
DID I TELL YOU TO MOVE?! ONE MORE STEP AND WE WILL FIRE ON YOU!
FIREMAN begins to laugh and casually walks up to the TROOP LEADER.
TROOP LEADER
FIRE!
The squadron pulls the triggers and they don't let go. The mass array
of bullets hitting FIREMAN causes some mild fog and a lot of sparks to
fly up. The loud machine gun fire can be heard a mile away. The
magazine clips eventually drain out and the fire temporarily stops.
The squadron rush to reload.
TROOP LEADER
(SHOUTING)
DON'T STOP UNTIL—
A fast jet stream of pure fire speeds from the fog and strikes the
TROOP LEADER. FIREMAN emerges from the gunfire without a single
scratch while smothering the soldier in an endless crash of flames.
The fiery humanoid then turns around; he takes his other hand and
changes over to a second fire cannon. FIREMAN blankets the entire
squadron in a fury of flames.
Men run left and right, many roll to put out flames only to burn to
death. The area around FIREMAN is encased around a wall of fire.
Another few squadrons arrive with everything they got. FIREMAN walks
out past the firewall. The military forces lay on a relentless assault
of firepower on the robot. Bullets, explosives, and tank fire are laid
on.
Fireman now takes evasive action and dodges the onslaught of gunfire.
He leaps over the military; in mid-air he rains down upon them multiple
explosive fireballs. The entire squadron and their forces explode in
furious flame balls.
FIREMAN dashes away from the scene and begins to run and gun everything
in sight. An energy station is exploded, buildings burned to the
ground, and many people die. With his enhanced energy and physical
attributes (speed, strength, etc), FIREMAN literally lights North City
on fire. The city skyline gives off an eerie illuminating orange glow
in the night. FIREMAN observes his destructive deeds,
FIREMAN
Mission complete.
FIREMAN activates the pod and blasts off into the skies. Across the
world, the media has reported multiple times and from only views
outside from the city of the relentlessly brutal acts of violence. The
media has tagged the event "The Burning of North City." With the
bridge strike days earlier, they are confirmed as the first hits of the
"Humanoid Terror." News stations such as CNN, FOX News, MSNBC, and
others capture the violence on film and display it for all to see.
INT. DR. LIGHT'S COMPOUND – AFTERNOON
Only 24 hours has passed since North City was destroyed. LIGHT, ROCK,
and ROLL try to go about their lives. LIGHT is still being reclusive
from the outside world. He toils away in the lab for hours, even days
on end. His appearance is very dirty and ragged. His beard is
unattended to, his clothes have burns and dust smudges on them, and his
eyes give the impression that he hasn't slept in a long time. LIGHT
exits the lab to eat food straight out the fridge. ROCK sees him walk
off into the kitchen and snatches opportunity. He runs for the lab
doors and observes the plans for LIGHT'S project. ROCK reads them
readily as he sees the schematics. They are plans for a humanoid
capable of heavy combat. Suddenly, LIGHT returns to see ROCK reading
the plans.
LIGHT slams the doors shut and ROCK immediately turns around to find
his creator surprised and upset.
LIGHT (forcefully)
What are you doing in here Rock?
ROCK
I was looking at the plans for your next project.
LIGHT
I asked you not to come in here! YOU ARE NOT TO BE INVOLVED IN THIS!
ROCK
I want to help! I—
ROLL barges into the lab,
ROLL
It's Wily. He's addressing the world again.
LIGHT turns on the TV. He doesn't have to change channels because
WILY'S face is on every single channel across the world.
WILY
(On television)
Apparently you all dare to challenge my power. You now have an
ultimatum of two days to pay the 1 billion dollars or I will take the
world by force.
LIGHT turns away from the TV to work on the project and is stopped by
ROCK.
ROCK
(Seldom voice)
I want to help Dr. Light. Let me please.
LIGHT stared at him for a few seconds, moved by his determination in
his eyes. LIGHT glanced at him differently and finally spoke to him…
LIGHT
All right then, Rock. (Exhales) It will be so.
ROCK
Thank you.
LIGHT
Rock, Roll, follow me.
The two robots follow LIGHT to a computer monitor. Light changes the
operation of the original plans.
LIGHT
The original plan was to construct a brand new warrior robot capable of
contending with Wily's warriors.
But since Rock has volunteered to help, I will ask you once more—this
operation will change you from the outside, things will be different
after the procedure. Are you sure you want to do this?
ROCK
Yes.
LIGHT
To start, we will first need to shut you down for a period of time.
LIGHT presses on the back of ROCK's head and a panel opens up. A small
switch on a circuitry board is flipped and ROCK suddenly becomes
"lifeless." His eyes are a bluish-grey tone, like a dead person's.
INT. LAB FLOOR – LATE AFTERNOON
LIGHT and ROLL hover their heads over the lifeless chassis of ROCK.
LIGHT turned over Rock's body to have back facing up. LIGHT takes a
laser cutter and makes cuts down Rock's back to the buttocks; a cut
around the waist; and another cut around the base of the neck. The
flexible composite chassis was removed from the body exposing the
mechanical innards. The innards bare similarity to the human skeleton,
but everything else is closer to looking like the physiology of a
vehicle's engine parts.
LIGHT
Roll; please bring the power cell.
ROLL walks off to a shelf and retrieves the red energy pack, which is
the size of a soda can. LIGHT removes ROCK'S old energy pack and
replaces it with the new one. LIGHT walks off for a moment and returns
wheeling several robotic parts and limbs on a cart.
(MONTAGE STARTS)
Two arms, two legs, body cavity, and a helmet are the parts on the
cart; all are either a dark navy blue or sky blue color. LIGHT works
hours on end to do the operation. The limbs were replaced with the new
attachments. The body was encased in the new sky blue chassis.
Work done to ROCK'S head involved opening his skull structure,
revealing the central processor (the mechanism that makes ROCK who his
is in terms of presence) and doing intricate operations. Cards were
inserted into his expansion slots. These cards bore the markings:
WEAPON and COPY. Each chip is inserted into ROCK'S head.
The attachments are welded on to maintain attachment and allow free
motion. The arm cannon is calibrated to shift from hand-to-gun and in
the reverse order.
LIGHT wipes beads of sweat from being under the bright lights. ROLL
brings the parts LIGHT calls upon (NO DIALOGUE).
The lights in the lab are shut down while ROCK is laid on the table,
still lifeless, under a white drape.
(MONTAGE ENDS)
Three days later, the same switch that shut down ROCK is reactivated.
His blue eyes open to see LIGHT and ROLL staring at him. ROCK looks
down to see that he has a completely new body.
LIGHT
Walk around. Get a feel for the body.
ROCK gets up and walks around normally as he usually would. He walks
around the operating table, then past ROLL and back to the table, and
finally up to LIGHT.
LIGHT
Good, good now. In addition to giving you a new body, you also have a
new name: MEGAMAN.
(ROCK now referred to as MEGAMAN)
MEGAMAN
Megaman? I like it.
LIGHT
I was hoping you would. Now for the next step, we test out your combat
skills.
EXT. GRASS FIELD – 11 AM
MEGAMAN, LIGHT, and ROLL arrive in a large blue van to an empty field
of tall grassland, tall trees surrounding, and a large sand pit nearby.
LIGHT exits the van with hardhat on and set-up a small laptop computer-
controlled console… in his lap. A connector wire goes into the laptop
from an optic tool that stands on a tripod. ROLL stands by with extra
supplies; she is also wearing a hardhat.
LIGHT looks out into the field, remote-controlling a dummy robot. The
dummy is standing about 150 yards away from where everyone is, back at
the van.
LIGHT
Megaman — I want you to activate your "Buster Cannon."
MEGAMAN
Sure.
MEGAMAN, as if it were second nature, internally activates the cannon
on his left arm. His left hand slides into his forearm and a titanium
firing nozzle emerges in its place.
LIGHT
Now wait for my command and fire at the dummy.
FIRE!
MEGAMAN quickly aims and fires one plasma shot to the dummy. The dummy
explodes upon impact. LIGHT and ROLL commend MEGAMAN on the good shot.
Hidden in the bushes however, a figure that spies on MEGAMAN and the
others. [The key characters seen reflecting off of the figure's black
visor]
[SUBTLE MONTAGE BEGINS]
MEGAMAN takes evasive target practice with the Buster Cannon perfecting
aiming and timing. Numerous targets explode in flames.
MEGAMAN also trains in unarmed combat. He downloads programs that give
him knowledge in various styles of fighting including jeet-kune-do,
boxing, karate, aikido, tae-kwon-do, street fighting, Greco-Roman
wrestling, and many others. Targets (dummies, sandbags, etc.) are
pummeled and torn apart.
[MONTAGE ENDS]
INT. ROBOTCORP LOBBY – EVENING
CAIN walks from the elevator, through the lobby, and out the front
door. He calls upon the valet,
CAIN
The blue Aston-Martin, please.
VALET
Yes sir, Mr. Cain.
CAIN waits momentarily for his car to arrive when he notices an orange
colored "shooting star" land on top of the RobotCorp building. CAIN
shrugs it off, not caring about the matter.
CAIN'S waxed navy blue Aston Martin DB7 drives up to the curb, in front
of him. CAIN enters the car and notices the valet awaiting a tip…
CAIN stares blankly at the young man and drives off.
Moments later, ON THE STREET, CAIN stops at a red light. He begins to
search for a cigarette when
WHAM!!!
The entire dashboard and hood of the car have been completely crushed.
CAIN is extremely startled and shocked to see not some bad driver but
two extremely large red feet standing. He noticed that the feet were
robotic. The robot feet stepped off of the smashed car and walked over
to CAIN, whom is attempting to escape. A large hole is punched into
the roof of the car. A yellow hand then tears the roof off, revealing
CAIN to an enormous robot, GUTSMAN.
GUTSMAN is a tall and massively wide robot. His key characteristic is
his large jaw and yellow dome-head.
CAIN screams and squirms to escape from GUTSMAN. Suddenly a street
cop, about 50 feet away, fires bullets at GUTSMAN. The massive robot
picks up a nearby car and hurtles it at the cop. The car smashes and
crashes on other cars and buildings nearby when the cop runs off.
GUTSMAN returns attention to CAIN whom is running down the street with
a limp in his right leg. GUTSMAN follows CAIN, while tearing up
various properties along the way.
The news traffic camera catches GUTSMAN in action and broadcasts it
over TV.
TV
As you can see, a massive robot has been destroying everything it is
path. We've only caught the machine moments ago, but it appears it has
been here for quite some time.
AT THE LIGHT COMPOUND, Dr. LIGHT observes this robot.
LIGHT
I know this robot. It's Gutsman. Very powerful; he was built for very
heavy labor.
Megaman, I –
Before he could finish, MEGAMAN had already entered pod mode and
blasted off into the city. Blue streaks were all that were left.
LIGHT stares out into the sky,
LIGHT
Good luck.
BACK IN THE STREETS, GUTSMAN continues his relentless and destructive
pursuit of CAIN. CAIN begins running into rush hour traffic. The
drivers stop or speed by him in anger. GUTSMAN proceeds to pick up
entire cars by their rear bumpers and hurl them every-which-way.
People rush away from GUTSMAN; CAIN runs down a street but falls down
because of the rush of people.
MEGAMAN lands in an alleyway. He rises and looks around his
surroundings. MEGAMAN walks out of the alley to find a surge of people
running away. MEGAMAN looks to his right and sees GUTSMAN slowly
walking down the street. The blue robot immediately runs to the scene.
CAIN futilely crawls away from GUTSMAN. He is whimpering and sobbing
simultaneously while muttering incoherent remarks. CAIN manages to
pull himself to a street curb. CAIN is turned around and facing
GUTSMAN. The executive feels nothing and enters a state of shock. As
GUTSMAN'S yellow hand approaches-- GUTSMAN stumbles over and stammers a
few steps away!
MEGAMAN delivered a dead-on dragon kick to GUTSMAN. GUTSMAN looks over
and sees this teenage looking robot staring at him. MEGAMAN shifts in
his Buster Cannon and fires off some plasma rounds at GUTSMAN. The
large robot guards the blasts while advancing step-by-step. GUTSMAN
gets so close that he knocks MEGAMAN away into the air and into a wall.
A large crater is left into the wall; MEGAMAN falls down to the ground.
MEGAMAN gets back to his feet and rushes a shoulder tackle to GUTSMAN.
He [MEGAMAN] is stopped on impact, GUTSMAN didn't move an inch.
MEGAMAN then uses his cannon to fire off some close range rounds into
GUTSMAN. The hits explode little burn holes in GUTSMAN'S armor.
GUTSMAN looks in amazement that this little blue boy just penetrated
his armor.
GUTSMAN, enraged, turns full attention to MEGAMAN. GUTSMAN lounges at
MEGAMAN; MEGAMAN dodges and returns with plasma shots. GUTSMAN now
uses his great strength and punches both of his hands into the
pavement. He rises up a massive boulder of concrete and asphalt. The
boulder is thrown at great speed to MEGAMAN. MEGAMAN jumps to the
side, but not early enough. The boulder falls upon MEGAMAN, trapping
him.
GUTSMAN walks up to MEGAMAN'S vulnerable head and he raises his foot
above it. Suddenly, a whistle-tune can be heard from a distance and
rapidly closing in.
POW!
Another being in red and grey, with a yellow scarf and black visor,
kicks GUTSMAN away without 'warning.' GUTSMAN flies away into the
ground far away. The red figure is recognized by MEGAMAN as a robot.
The RED ROBOT passes a small smirk at MEGAMAN before leaping away to
face down GUTSMAN. The RED ROBOT attacks with twin plasma cannons that
riddle GUTSMAN with damage. He is severely burned and torn apart;
innards revealed, including the power core. The RED ROBOT targets the
power core and shoots it. GUTSMAN explodes in a great flash explosion.
The entire body is blown apart; GUTSMAN'S burned head rolls out the
fire and stops near MEGAMAN.
The RED ROBOT removes the boulder and quickly leaves the scene.
MEGAMAN pulls out of the rubble. He notices GUTSMAN'S head; MEGAMAN
places his right (Buster) hand on it and physically hacks into it.
MEGAMAN downloads information on Gutsman's anatomy. He stops and
notices his Buster cannon meter reads: WEAPON COPY COMPLETE.
He activates his pod to leave. Emergency figures and helper robots
arrive at the scene.
INT. WILY'S FORTRESS – LATER ON…
WILY paces back and forth watching as the signs of activation for
GUTSMAN go offline: vitality, visual, everything. "OFFLINE" appears
over the mug shot of the robot. There are shots also for CUTMAN,
ICEMAN, and FIREMAN.
WILY
Someone or something has destroyed MY WORK!
[Slams fists on console]
Then the backlash will be felt by the world!
INT. LIGHT COMPOUND
Meanwhile, MEGAMAN arrives back at the compound. He enters the lab and
is met by LIGHT and ROLL. ROLL brings him a can with an "E" on it.
LIGHT
Drink this Megaman. It will replenish your energy.
MEGAMAN
Thank you.
[He drinks it and feels much better]
Whoa. I feel… better. My energy is back.
LIGHT
Exactly. You lose energy as you take damage and should you take too
much, the energy drink may not be able to restore you. Be careful.
MORNING comes to the compound. On the news, there is a story of
MEGAMAN'S heroic effort against GUTSMAN.
Footage is shown of MEGAMAN engaging GUTSMAN in battle. News cuts to
GUTSMAN exploding. A fuzzy image of the RED ROBOT can be seen in the
far background, but the press ignores it's existence.
LIGHT sits watching TV. He looks closer to the TV, at the image of a
red "thing" in the background.
LIGHT
Megaman, what was that red thing there?
MEGAMAN
That was another robot. He arrived and blew Wily's robot apart.
LIGHT (interested)
Robot? What did he look like?
MEGAMAN
Had red and grey armor. The helmet was like mine except it –
LIGHT
[CUTTING IN]
Had a visor?
MEGAMAN
Yeah. How do you know?
LIGHT
Many years ago, Wily and I created the first, a prototype, of the
technology yourself and Roll are based on. He is called Protoman.
[RED ROBOT now referred to as PROTOMAN]
MEGAMAN
Protoman… He is no enemy, but can't be sure.
LIGHT
He was the first of his kind, a robot that was self-aware. Because of
that, he was a wanderer. One night, he went out against my permission
and never returned. That was 2 years ago. I built you and Roll months
afterwards.
MEGAMAN
I see. You never mentioned him before.
[LIGHT gets up and walks outside; MEGAMAN and ROLL follow]
Doctor Light, why did you never mention Protoman?
LIGHT
I felt it wasn't important. He can be considered your brother.
MEGAMAN
Brother. . .
INT. WILY'S FORTRESS – EARLY MORNING
WILY approaches the pods that contain the remaining horsemen. He draws
closer to ICEMAN.
ICEMAN is a robot who wears a thick light blue arctic jacket. His
armor is also light blue and his hands and feet are white.
A series of computing opens the pod and activating ICEMAN.
WILY
I have already uploaded the next target for you as well as any possible
opposition.
(Sternly) DO NOT FAIL.
ICEMAN
Yes sir.
WILY
I must stay to work on a new project.
ICEMAN runs into the open hangar. He forms into a pod and blasts off
into the sky.
WILY turns on a monitor at the control deck – it reads: ICEMAN VIDEO
FEED in the upper left corner in red lettering.
WILY
Now we'll see who our "hero" is. (Mild, evil laughter)
INT. LIGHT LAB – MEANWHILE
LIGHT is working on another robot, a small one, however. The display
screen on his right shows a shape of an animal.
MEGAMAN enters the lab.
MEGAMAN
What are you working on now?
LIGHT
Your partner. I remember Wily saying "four Horsemen." Thanks to
Protoman, there are now three—but they are built to handle a lot of
damage. You will need help.
MEGAMAN
Help? I've got that Gutsman's weapon now. This is all the help I
need.
LIGHT
Don't count your chickens before they hatch.
[beat]
This is to be your helper in combat. Trust me.
MEGAMAN
If you say so.
MEGAMAN walks outside to the street and sees people running. In fear,
they run – screaming and yelling. Noises of crashing and explosions
are heard in the distance.
MEGAMAN
Oh, no. Is Wily attacking again?!
MEGAMAN runs down the street with great speed. He runs on the side of
the street, allowing panicked people to easily escape.
EXT. BEACHSIDE – MINUTES LATER
MEGAMAN approaches beachside where the water in that section has been
frozen solid. Waves are suspended in mid-air, people either turned
into ice-blocks or imprisoned in ice cages. The sand was even layered
with a thick layer of ice. MEGAMAN slides across the ice and tumbles
approaching the frozen water.
WILY'S FORTRESS, WILY is sitting watching from ICEMAN'S point of view
the icy mayhem. ICEMAN turns left to see a blue robot boy, MEGAMAN,
raise off of the ice to his feet.
MEGAMAN
I take it you're the one who did this.
ICEMAN
Correct. Just who-- No, don't bother. It won't matter!
ICEMAN blasts sharp shards of ice at MEGAMAN with automatic firing.
MEGAMAN leaps to the side, barely missing the ice that is cutting into
his armor. He responds with plasma shots.
ICEMAN forms a wave of super-cold air that makes a shield; it
neutralizes the plasma shots. MEGAMAN retreats away to make distance
between himself and ICEMAN.
MEGAMAN
Whoa! He stopped my plasma shots with ice! Not good.
[MEGAMAN stops and faces ICEMAN]
He's not even moving. Gotta try again.
MEGAMAN charges shooting plasma shots at ICEMAN. ICEMAN begins to
dodge the shots. MEGAMAN waves side to side, still shooting. ICEMAN
shoots another wave of icy mist to ward away the plasma shots. MEGAMAN
continues charging. ICEMAN jumps up; MEGAMAN drops to his side and
slides under Iceman while shooting plasma from below. Iceman drops a
large ice spike out of his arm cannon. The ice spike hits MEGAMAN in
the very top of his head. MEGAMAN'S body lies still.
ICEMAN lands onto the ground. He laughs.
ICEMAN
You put up a good fight, but not good enough.
MEGAMAN
It's not over yet.
ICEMAN is annoyed and shocked at the same time. MEGAMAN gets to his
feet, without his helmet. MEGAMAN and ICEMAN stand face to face,
still, looking each other in the eye. [CU on MEGAMAN'S eyes, then CU
on ICEMAN'S eyes]
WILY watches MEGAMAN on the screen. He quenches his face in interest
and anger.
MEGAMAN presses a button on his Buster cannon and it changes. The
normal size of his left arm becomes twice as large and so does his
fist.
ICEMAN
What is that supposed to be?
MEGAMAN
This IS a souvenir from Gutsman. The Super Arm ability.
ICEMAN
Gutsman's weapon? It doesn't matter. You will die anyway.
Iceman shoots a barrage of large ice spikes at MEGAMAN. MEGAMAN runs,
zigzagging away from Iceman. Iceman takes pursuit and rains down ice
shards at MEGAMAN. The shards are relentlessly cutting into the armor.
MEGAMAN falls to the ground, terribly scratched all over his body.
Iceman walks over to MEGAMAN, who is still on the ice covered ground.
Iceman raises his arm cannon to fire when POW!
MEGAMAN slugged him away with a strong jab with the Super Arm. Iceman
flies backward until he hits the ice ground, when he now slides.
Iceman grabs the ice and stops his momentum. Infuriated (as is WILY
who is watching this) he fires a particular ice spike.
ICEMAN (shouting)
Get ready blue boy! Oh, yes! Get ready FOR THE END!!!
Iceman fires a large, sharp ice spike that is spinning like a drill.
MEGAMAN stands his ground, trying to keep footing on the ice. The ice
drill zooms in, MEGAMAN still stands. The drill arrives, and
MEGAMAN CATCHES IT WITH HIS SUPER ARM!
Iceman is in shock; WILY is furious!
MEGAMAN charges forward and hurtles the drill into the air.
Iceman then shoots a beam blast at MEGAMAN. MEGAMAN guards, but finds
his right leg and right arm encased in ice. Iceman approaches him. He
slaps him twice in the face. MEGAMAN swings with his Super Arm but
misses and is knocked back with a punch to the gut and then to the
face. MEGAMAN is leaned over in an odd manner. Iceman pummels him for
a period of time. MEGAMAN then grabs Iceman's fist and moves his upper
half to head butt him. Iceman falters back a few feet. He uses the
Super Arm to break the ice binding him down and the ice binding his
arm.
MEGAMAN and Iceman charge each other head on. MEGAMAN punches him with
his right arm and grabs Iceman's arm cannon with his left. He crushes
it into junk. Iceman is kicked away by MEGAMAN. Iceman sees the ice
drill coming and can't get back to his feet in time. The drill
punctures him through his jacket and armor, all the way to the ground.
Iceman dies.
MEGAMAN approaches Iceman head and places his hand on it, as he did
Gutsman. He completes the download and walks back to where his helmet
got busted. MEGAMAN carries it off and observes the people still
frozen. Emergency technicians arrive as MEGAMAN punches away ice to
free the people.
WILY sits in his chair staring a black screen. He is not happy about
losing Iceman. He replays the video of Megaman and Iceman fighting.
He stares closely at the footage.
WILY
Thy enemy.
EXT. BEACHSIDE – LATE AFTERNOON
MEGAMAN is still involved in the rescue effort. LIGHT and ROLL arrive
to help as well. Many of the people were saved, some could not be
saved.
Megaman uses his Super Arm to punch into the ice and remove the people
from it. Light sees numerous dents and tears in Megaman's body.
LIGHT
You look like you had some trouble.
MEGAMAN
You're telling me. The robot that did this nearly did me in!
LIGHT
Still think you won't need help?
MEGAMAN
I can handle the other two of Wily's robots.
(Beat)
But, I wouldn't mind some assistance.
LIGHT
So then, I'll need to work on your body again. These tears can't stay
forever. You'll catch a draft.
[Megaman chuckles]
Come on then.
As Light, Megaman, and Roll walk down the street, they are bombarded by
the news media. A large number of reporters clamor the trio. The
lights from the cameras are very bright. Voices from many men and
women sound like a garbled mix of noise.
Reporters asked questions such as: "How you feel after saving these
people?"
"What is your name?"
"Are you human or robot?"
Megaman stares at one camera. Roll is staring and smiling, making
weird faces at the press. Light is trying to make some space between
himself and the press.
MEGAMAN
Well, my name is Megaman. I'm a robot.
REPORTER #1
Are you the same robot who stopped an attack on Charles Cain days
earlier?
MEGAMAN
Yes. I am.
Right now there's two down, two more to go.
Meanwhile,
INT. WILY'S FORTRESS - AFTERNOON
Wily is watching Megaman on the news. He looks onto the screen with
the utmost scorn.
WILY
(Laughs maniacally)
Now I know!
Finally, I know!!!
YOU DID IT AGAIN THOMAS!
INT. LIGHT COMPOUND – EVENING
Megaman sits upon a table as Dr. Light welds up the openings from the
fight against Iceman. The wounds are in a great number, they cover
Megaman's body cavity, legs, arms, and some on his face.
Light uses a needle and thread to sow together the scars on Megaman's
face.
LIGHT
Good thing you have synthetic skin or else these wounds would take
forever to heal.
MEGAMAN
Thank you for fixing me up.
LIGHT
You're welcome.
MEGAMAN
Why does that man do it? Dr. Wily?
LIGHT
I honestly can't tell you why exactly. Albert was always at fault to
his inbred jealously. He's been an envious person for years.
MEGAMAN
And drives him to destruction?
LIGHT
Apparently so. His envy has driven him to the breaking point.
Megaman gets off of the table and grabs his repaired helmet. It looks
as if it took no damage.
EXT. BACK YARD
Roll approaches the garden with a bag of seeds in her hand. She uses
the tools built into her fingertips to plant the seeds into the soil.
She hears some bushes moving in the distance. She investigates and
finds nothing out of the ordinary. As Roll leaves, a Met robot is
walking out of the yard through a small hole it burned in.
Meanwhile,
INT. WILY'S FORTRESS
Wily watches the video feed. He sees images of Light's compound, Roll,
Light himself, and Megaman.
WILY
Thomas, Thomas, Thomas. Once again you want to upstage me. To get the
upper hand in MY moment! Well we'll see about that!
Wily races over to the computer console and rapidly types in commands.
A map appears with locations of viable hit targets around Earth.
I'll put our blue hero to the test!
(Beat)
But Fireman and Cutman are too valuable to me right now. I'll send in
the "Joes."
Wily pushes a red button on the console. In the hangar, the floor
opens up revealing an air carrier that is hovering from the ground.
Inside the carrier is an entire squadron of humanoid machines called
SNIPER JOES. Each Joe has a shield and plasma cannon—they all bear the
color scheme of green, black, and white.
WILY
Joe army. Go to the city and destroy everything and anything standing
in your way!
JOES
(Together)
Sir!
The air carrier careens through the sky to the targeted city.
Back at,
INT. LAB
Megaman notices a dog running towards him. It is mostly red and very
much mechanical.
Light takes note of the robot dog. The robot dog, RUSH, speeds into
the lab. It stops immediately at Megaman's feet. Like a regular dog,
it stares up at the people. Then Rush bends his head down, raises his
foot over, and scratches himself.
LIGHT
Meet Rush. I built him to help you out on your field runs. He can
transform into a jet-board, a spring pad, and even a little submarine
cruiser.
MEGAMAN
Whoa. All that in this dog?
LIGHT
Yes.
MEGAMAN
Well then.
[Rush begins to stand himself against Megaman's lap]
Ok, ok. Easy boy. Let see what you can do. [Megaman pets Rush]
EXT. FRONT YARD – EVENING
Megaman stands away from Rush and out of nowhere shouts,
MEGAMAN
RUSH – SPRING!
[Nothing happens]
RUSH – PAD?
[Nothing again]
LIGHT
Try this. RUSH – COIL!
Rush's back pushes up a flat, circular panel. Megaman leaps onto it
and the coil pad throttles him many feet into the air.
Megaman lands down not far from Rush with a loud thud.
MEGAMAN
Oh, wow. Wait, what's that?
Megaman looks to the metropolitan skyline and sees many pops of light.
Explosions are seen from the front yard of the compound.
LIGHT
Wily.
MEGAMAN
No other. Rush, come on. We're going in. Let's see how useful you
are.
RUSH – JET!
Rush crouches down for the change; jet boosters appear in the rear and
are ready for firing. Megaman leaps on and at a blinding takeoff, Rush
speeds into the city. Megaman watches the landscape turn into a blur
and the area ahead coming in fast. Under bridges, past buildings,
dodging aerial cars, Rush's speed bringing a smile to Megaman's face.
EXT. CITY – EVENING
The Joes are ravaging the city in a random fury of destruction. They
blast buildings with plasma shots, explode vehicles on sight, wreck
anything and everything from power lines to department stores. Police
and military are held at bay by the AIR CARRIER. The carrier is firing
plasma heat lasers at the police and military forces.
Meanwhile,
INT. WILY'S FORTRESS – EVENING
Wily sits watching from a camera in the air carrier, the carnage from
above.
WILY
A- HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Yes!!! GO MY LITTLE JOES!!!! TEAR THE CITY TO
SHREDS!! MAKE THOSE PEOPLE PAY!!!!
EXT. CITY – EVENING
Megaman and Rush approach the city and take notice to the air carrier.
MEGAMAN
Need to watch that thing.
[Looks down to see destroyed armored vehicles]
Oh… This is bad.
INT. AIR CARRIER – EVENING
One of the Joes piloting the carrier notices a blip on the radar.
PILOT JOE #1
Incoming aerial object. Pulling up holo-screen.
A holographic video display of Megaman and Rush appears. The other
Joes inside watch. The COMMAND JOE, who has yellow stripes on his
head, sees the image as well.
COMMAND JOE
Shoot them down.
The air carrier fires the heat laser at Megaman and Rush. Rush dodges
it; the carrier fires missiles at them. Some of the wayward missiles
hit some Joes on the ground, destroying them. One missile hits and
explodes near Rush while in mid-flight. Megaman falls off and onto the
street below. Rush awkwardly flies down to the ground. Rush lands and
reverts back into his canine form.
Megaman gets to his feet, but is met by a swarm of Joes. They all
launch plasma shots at Megaman. Megaman retaliates with his own shots.
The Joes use their shields to block. Megaman rushes in to engage in
battle. He runs and does random punches and kicks to the Joe army. A
kick to one Joe in front of him; an elbow to the Joe who leaped on his
back, in which he smashed that one on the ground; another Joe is
punched hard, smashing its head in; Megaman grabs one Joe and tosses
him into a crowd of other Joes.
Megaman leaps over the fallen crowd of Joes and lays on plasma shots to
all of them. The pile is nothing but burned scrap metal. Megaman
grabs a shield and rushes to another crowd of Joes.
The air carrier observes the battle below. The Command Joe watches on.
COMMAND JOE
Send a second wave.
The carrier's rear bay door lowers and the second wave of Joes empty
onto the street. They land behind Megaman as he is tearing into the
other wave. About 50 more Joes arrive to the scene. Rush arrives and
transforms into a jet again. The robot dog uses its speed to ram down
a small part of the Joe army. Rush makes ramming passes, flying
through and coming back around for another go at the Joes. Megaman
shoots the Joes with plasma shots, he guards with the shield, and even
uses the shield as a weapon with smashing and ramming. Megaman and
Rush hold them off, but the numbers overwhelm them. The carrier
dropped what looked like HUNDREDS of Joes. Megaman sees the other Joes
approach. He grabs another Joe and swings it around, creating a circle
around him to make distance.
Suddenly a whistle-tune can be heard – Megaman recognizes it. It's
PROTOMAN! Protoman comes in full firing and using his shield as a
weapon.
PROTOMAN
GET OUT NOW! TAKE THE CARRIER! I'LL HOLD THESE DOWN!
Megaman sees Protoman fighting nearby.
MEGAMAN
THERE'S TOO MANY!
PROTOMAN
THAT WON'T MATTER IF YOU TAKE THE CARRIER! GO—NOW!!!
Megaman powers out of a swarm and sees Rush coming in. He leaps onto
Rush and flies high into the sky to the air carrier from behind. The
carrier shoots the laser at them. They dodge it and approach the hull
of the aircraft. Megaman shoots into it—his plasma rounds do nothing.
MEGAMAN
Rush! Slow down so we can get to the back door.
Rush slows down and then speeds up again to get close to the door.
EXT. STREET – NIGHT
Protoman struggles to hold off the Joe army, but the numbers are
starting to take him.
EXT. SKY (AIR CARRIER REAR) – NIGHT
Megaman stands on Rush who is keeping speed with the carrier. Megaman
pries the door open enough to shoot a hole in. he leaps off of Rush
and into the AIR CARRIER.
INT. AIR CARRIER – NIGHT
Megaman shoots all of the Joes to burned metal. He grabs the pilot
controls and turns the carrier around to where Protoman is. He watches
out the front window that ALL of the Joes are congregated in one
section of the city. It looks like a continuously moving swarm of
green, black and white all mixed together.
MEGAMAN
Brother where are you?
Megaman shoots the front window out and shouts down to the street.
MEGAMAN
PROTOMAN!!! GET OUT OF THERE RIGHT NOW!!!
ON THE STREET,
Protoman hears Megaman's call. He swings his shield violently and runs
to escape. The Joes grab him and pull at Protoman. Protoman shoots at
the Joes.
Megaman passes over the fight zone and turns around to come back. He
leaves the pilot area and shoots the energy cells to ignite. Megaman
runs back to the pilot area and directs the air carrier to fly into the
swarm of Joes. The air carrier catches fire and flames explode from
the side. Megaman leaps through the window and plummets to the ground.
Rush swoops down and catches Megaman in mid-air. Rush hovers in the
air while Megaman watches the carrier crash into the Joes; a great
fiery explosion wipes out the Joe army and the surrounding area.
EXT. CITY – NIGHT
Megaman stands a good distance from the blast area. The carrier burns
into the night and burns the Sniper Joe army. He solemnly looks onto
the inferno until a sole figure walks out from an alley way. It is
Protoman. His yellow scarf has burn marks at the ends, his armor has
black smudge marks, and his black visor is cracked.
MEGAMAN
Thank you. I wouldn't have gotten through this one without you. Or
the first time we met.
PROTOMAN
You're welcome. I take it you know who I am?
MEGAMAN
Yeah, you're the first one. The prototype.
PROTOMAN
Correct. As far as Light, Wily, and even RobotCorp are concerned, I am
model number 000. You… you look like me in some ways.
MEGAMAN
I should. My model number is 001. Name is—
PROTOMAN
(Cuts in) Megaman. The world's hero. I've seen you get press
coverage. Number 001? That does make us brothers.
MEGAMAN
That safe to say.
Dr. Light told me you were created some years ago… when was your
creation date?
PROTOMAN
My creation date was on November 7th about eleven years ago. I left
the compound two years ago.
MEGAMAN
Why did you leave the compound?
PROTOMAN
I left the compound because I wanted to. There was more to see outside
of the walls of the compound. Plus, I was tired of the experiments.
Downs of being a "prototype model."
Well, I think that is enough talk for now. Wily is as intelligent as
he is dangerous. Stay sharp, but I'll be watching.
Protoman crouches and launches off into a pod. Megaman watches him fly
away. He and Rush then fly off back to the compound.
INT. WILY'S FORTRESS – NIGHT
Wily insanely flails objects across the lab in a mindless fury. Glass
shatters on impact of the walls; metallic objects bend and clang off
floors, tables, and walls; and Wily in the middle.
WILY
(Shouting)
Megaman has faulted my plans for THE LAST TIME!!!!
[Runs over to activate Fireman and Cutman]
YOU TWO!!! GO TO THE LIGHT COMPOUND! BRING ME LIGHT! NOW!!!
Fireman and Cutman run into the open hangar of the fortress and launch
off into the skies at high speeds in pods.
Meanwhile,
EXT. SKY – NIGHT
Megaman is still returning to the compound. Rush begins to power down.
The jet propellers aren't firing as strong.
MEGAMAN
What's wrong?
Rush makes an easy landing to the ground. He reverts back to his
canine form. Megaman lifts the red mini helmet on Rush's head to
reveal a meter. It is low.
MEGAMAN
You're out of energy. Bad thing is I don't have any energy bars for
you.
Megaman and Rush stand there in the field next to the main highways.
Meanwhile,
EXT. FRONT OF LIGHT COMPOUND – LATE NIGHT
Two pods, one red and the other orange, land in front of the compound.
Fireman and Cutman emerge from their respective pods.
INT. LIGHT'S BEDROOM
Light prepares for sleeping. He starts with removing his reading
glasses and putting down a book he was reading.
Roll, in the kitchen, finishes cleaning up from dinner.
Back in THE BEDROOM, Light lies in his bed staring into the ceiling.
His expression goes regretful as he shows signs of worry.
Tearing through the house is a circular blade! Roll barely misses it.
Light hears the commotion and leaves his room to see what is going on.
The blade whizzes by his neck. The blade returns to Cutman who still
stands on the outside with Fireman. Fireman steps up and shoots
streams of powerful fire to the front doors. The two machines step
into the household and look around, they're in the LIVING ROOM.
CUTMAN
Find Doctor Light. You go left. I'll will go right.
FIREMAN
Do not kill the old man.
CUTMAN
Understood.
Fireman goes left and inspects every door to every room looking for
Light. Light meanwhile, crawls around to a nearby exit. He finds Roll
who is in hiding in a bottom cupboard.
LIGHT (whispering)
Roll, come on. They're coming.
Roll follows Light's lead. Light carefully crawls past a table where
on the other side Fireman is looking for him. Roll quickly follows in
the same fashion. As Fireman exits the kitchen, Light and Roll rise to
their feet and enter,
INT. HALLWAY
In there, they come into the sights of Cutman! Cutman charges at them
and then tosses his blade to their direction. The blade cuts Light's
leg, but Light still continues to move. A trail of blood is left from
the cut that leads into the lab.
CUTMAN
You can't run Doctor.
Cutman taps the side of his head.
In the,
INT. BEDROOM HALLWAY
Fireman stops investigating the rooms and heads over to Cutman's
location.
INT. LAB
Cutman stands at the entrance. He tugs at the doors and notices the
doors have been locked. He takes his blade and cuts the doors open.
The doors are kicked in.
Inside, Roll and Light hide in separate areas. Light is next to the
doorway, while Roll is under an operating table.
Fireman arrives to the doorway.
CUTMAN
Smoke him out.
Fireman ignites a small fire in his cannons to create smoke clouds that
fill the room. Light holds his coughs down. The smoke gets heavier
and Light can't hold in his breath let alone his coughs.
Light eventually passes out. Cutman enters the lab and finds Light lay
out on the floor like a rag-doll. He grabs him and exits the lab and
proceeds out of the compound area. Roll leaves the lab, dusty in grey
from the heavy smog. She goes outside and sees a streak of red and of
orange glisten across the sky.
EXT. OUTER FIELDS – LATE NIGHT
Megaman checks Rush's meter again and it has regenerated some energy.
MEGAMAN
RUSH – JET!
Rush transforms into a jet board and Megaman rides back to the
compound.
EXT. FRONT OF LIGHT COMPOUND
Roll sits in the front steps of the compound. Smoke sifts from the
openings to the lab and out of the front door.
Megaman flies in and sees the smoke coming out. He lands immediately
and runs up to Roll.
MEGAMAN
Roll! What's happened here?
ROLL
Two of those "Horsemen" arrived. They took Doctor Light! I don't know
where though.
MEGAMAN
Wily. There has to be some—
[Megaman looks up to see faded streaks in the sky]
Uh-huh. Look!
ROLL
Those streaks?
MEGAMAN
Yeah.
ROLL
You're gonna follow them aren't you?
MEGAMAN
Yes. Was the doctor still alive when they took him?
ROLL
Yes, but in Wily's hands, he might not be alive for long.
MEGAMAN
Roll, get an energy treat for Rush. He's low on energy. I'll need to
tough it out.
ROLL
Sure.
Roll runs into the house. She sifts through the kitchen to find the
energy treats. Roll runs to the door and tosses the treat to Megaman.
ROLL
CATCH!
Megaman catches it and feeds it to Rush. The robot dog's energy
instantly recharges. Rush transforms into JET FORM. Megaman leaps
onto his dog and shouts,
MEGAMAN
FOLLOW THE TRAIL!
Below Roll runs out into the street looking above as Megaman and Rush
fly away.
ROLL
Be careful!
INT. WILY'S FORTRESS (LOWEST FLOOR) – LATE NIGHT
Wily stands at the table and sees Cutman enter the room. He carries
Light on his shoulder. Wily forms a small, sly smile on his winced
face.
WILY
Welcome Thomas.
[Looks at Cutman]
Good work. Lay him on the table. We have a lot to talk about.
Cutman easily lays Light on the table. The machine leaves the room.
Meanwhile,
IN THE SKY
Megaman follows the trail of the pods. The specter trails are
beginning to fade off though.
MEGAMAN
They're fading! Rush, let go DOUBLE TIME!
Rush hits the afterburners and picks up pace.
Back at THE FORTRESS, Light begins to awaken. His vision is very
blurred and hazy. He squints his eyes due to pain. The blinding
lights from the lamps above hinder his vision.
WILY
You've woken up. You always were a deep sleeper.
Light hears the voice and turns his head to its source though he cannot
see it.
WILY
No use in squirming. Your body is strapped down tight.
LIGHT
Albert?
Wily pushes a button on a remote controller—the table holding Light
rises to a vertical slant. Light is facing Wily now.
WILY
That's right Thomas. It's me.
LIGHT
(Beat)
Heard you died. Killed in an explosion at the factory.
WILY
(Chuckles) Oh, yes that. I can credit that to your blue boy. Ah, I
remember when we were just kids…
tinkering with machines wanting to make something that wasn't human
closer to human.
LIGHT
But look where we are now. I'm captured by a man I once thought I
trusted.
WILY
I thought I could trust you as well Thomas. Just one problem – you put
your selfish pride before friendship.
LIGHT
No. Once again you are making case against a lost cause. You are just
jealous because I was better.
Wily charges to Light and gives him a right hook punch to the face.
WILY
How dare you. You have the nerve to call yourself BETTER THAN ME?!
LIGHT
Albert. In nearly 40 years, I never told you a lie. That was no lie
and you know it. This wave of destruction with those robots… is just
a way to shield your inadequacies.
WILY
There you go with an ego bigger than your talent.
LIGHT
Jealousy, jealousy, jealousy. It got you nowhere.
WILY
I see you let your arrogance and your ignorance overcome you. You will
just have to—
A beeping sound alerts the entire base. Wily goes to the command
console and sees the message: INTRUDER. He presses a button on the
console to show Megaman flying to the base itself.
WILY
How can that robot have found this place?! This base is—
[Wily notices the trails left by Cutman and Fireman]
You stupid machines!! [To Cutman and Fireman] Get up to the upper
levels and head him off!
LIGHT
I can't believe it. He's really coming here.
WILY
He won't survive. The robots here in the base are more dangerous than
the ones I sent out into the world. This is the lowest level, the
fourth level of the base. The alarm automatically dispatched a robot
guard for each level. The outside and ground floor is level one,
respectively. Then the middle level, or level two, above us, and here—
level three.
Light stays silent and watches the monitor showing Megaman's arrival.
EXT. WILY'S FORTRESS ("FRONT DOOR-FIRST LEVEL") – NIGHT
Megaman and Rush follow the trail to a mountain. The trails lead
directly into the wall of rock. Megaman approaches it (still standing
on Rush) and feels the wall. There is no wall – it's a holographic
illusion. Megaman leaps off of Rush and through the hologram to find
himself in a LARGE HANGAR.
Rush follows in and becomes a canine again. The hangar is as large as
several football fields. The walls and the ceiling are decorated in
pipes and wires. There is a large door in the middle of the ceiling.
Megaman approaches the center of the room when suddenly Wily's voice
echoes and reverberates within the room.
WILY (ON INTERCOM)
Welcome to my once hidden fortress. You no doubt want your treasured
Doctor Light back . . . don't you?
MEGAMAN
Where is he?!
WILY
He's right here with me. If you really want him back, you'll have
showed me what you're made of, robot.
Suddenly objects begin to rattle around the walls. Yellow cubes emerge
from the piles of stuff in the room and converge together. Wily comes
back onto the intercom.
WILY
For starters, let's see how you measure against my own brand of liquid
technology. The aptly named "Yellow Devil."
The blocks converge and mold themselves into a large, towering robotic
creature called YELLOW DEVIL. It stood a clear 10 or so feet above
Megaman's height of 5-6 feet. Megaman fired some plasma shots into
Yellow Devil, but the shots passed through the liquid machine.
An eye with a red center (it stood out within the yellow liquid body)
opens and fires a barrage of plasma shots at Megaman. The blue robot
is flailed to the ground across the room. Megaman recovers and gets up
only to see the Yellow Devil break itself into cubes again.
The cubes moved fast to the opposite end of the room from where its
initial position was. From moving the cubes became a whole body again.
Rush charges at the Yellow Devil; it swats Rush away in midair with a
large hand like a fly. Megaman ran away from it to create distance.
The eye opened and fired again. Megaman dodges the fire and shoots
back at it. Megaman sees some energy cans behind the Yellow Devil.
The cans are marked: DANGER! MISUSE MAY CAUSE COMBUSTION. He shoots
the energy cans and KA-BOOM!!!
The cans explode in a whoosh of power, exploding the Yellow Devil into
pieces — malformed cube pieces.
The cubes look melted down and deformed. Megaman stands down when the
cubes converge again. The cubes form into a body, the Yellow Devil
still stands high. Wily comes onto the intercom again.
WILY (cackling)
YOU SEE! SEE BLUE BOY! NOT EVEN YOU CAN DEFEAT THIS MONSTER OF A
MACHINE! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Megaman sees its eye open and he shoots it. The eye flickers of
electrical sparks. Yellow Devil breaks into cubes and moves to another
area of the hangar to reform. Megaman chases after it and hides under
its legs. The Yellow Devil looks around and finds nothing. Megaman
shoots on the plasma shots from under. The shots pass through the body
and hit the eye. The eye becomes red, then white and starts to shake
as if it were it in a seizure. Megaman runs far away from the thing
and the eye explodes out of the body, causing the towering yellow mass
to collapse in a puddle of yellow goop. The goop splatters across the
hangar. Megaman walks up to the busted eyeball and crushes it under
his metal foot.
INT. WILY'S FORTRESS (LEVEL THREE)
Wily's face goes red in anger. One of his most advanced robots was
bested by a little blue guy. Light grins uncontrollably at the sight
of Megaman's victory. Wily turns to see Light grinning. He only
snarls and turns his attention back to the monitor. Megaman is exiting
the first level. Rush remains on the first level.
INT. LEVEL ELEVATOR – NIGHT
Megaman approaches what appears to be an elevator. The twin steel
doors open. He enters and instantly proceeds down to the next level –
LEVEL TWO.
He exits to a wave of flames in the elevator cab. Next a circular
cutting blade chops the cab in half, sending the lower part to the
bottom. Megaman exits immediately to be met by Fireman and Cutman.
INT. WORKING LAB – NIGHT
The second level is the lab. All kinds of little scientific items are
scattered about the room. Operation tables, chemical formulas, little
engineering items, etc. Fireman unloads a dual wave of fire shots from
his arm cannons making the lab erupt in fire along the way. Megaman
changes weaponry from the normal plasma cannon to the Super Arm. His
arm grows to twice its size. He punches the ground, which shakes the
ground and knocks Fireman down. Megaman then rips a bolted down
counter from the floor and hurls it at Cutman. Megaman jumps at
Fireman and gets fire in the face. Megaman's body has black char marks
on it.
Fireman gets back to his feet while Cutman uses his blade to cut out of
the wreckage. Megaman switches weapons to the Ice Cannon weapon. He
shoots an ice spike at Fireman; the fiery robot just melts it with his
flames. Megaman runs to Fireman and tackles him head on. He switches
to the Super Arm and socks him in the body with that massive arm. The
punches make a large crater in the wall. Suddenly, Cutman's blade
slashes Megaman across the back, exposing the titanium layer. Cutman
slashes again, this time exposing the wiring. Megaman falls back from
his beat down of Fireman, who has a large hole in his body. Megaman
goes back to his buster cannon and shoots Cutman away, and then he
shoots Fireman. Megaman runs and so does Fireman. They both leap at
the same time and collide in mid air. As they fall, Megaman is
shooting plasma shots into the opening of Fireman's body. When they
reach the ground, Fireman's body explodes into flaming pieces. An arm
flies here, a leg there, and other mechanical parts.
Cutman rises up again and tosses his blade at Megaman. The blade
slices the top of the helmet off. Megaman removes the helmet and
catches a large cut that goes all way on the side of his head. Cutman
catches his blade and grins very evilly.
CUTMAN
Time to die.
Cutman looks upon his cut-up foe and slings the blade at him one more
time. Megaman watches the blade speed toward him at a "blink and you
miss it" pace. It come closer and closer and closer. The apparently
expressionless eyes of the robot now speak volumes. In Megaman there
is anxiety, for Cutman, anticipation of the kill. At the last moments,
Megaman puts his hand up and CATCHES THE BLADE! Cutman goes into a
angry shock!
Back in THE THIRD LEVEL, Wily is also in a state of shock, as is Light.
In the SECOND LEVEL, Megaman runs to Cutman with the blade in hand and
takes one LARGE swipe downward with it to Cutman's face. Cutman's body
forms a line going down the middle from the head to the groin area.
The line gets a little wider and finally . . . SNAPS! Cutman's body
splits in half. Megaman goes to the elevator shaft and looks down.
The elevator wreckage blocked entrance to the third level.
INT. WILY'S FORTRESS (THIRD LEVEL)
Wily unlatches Light from the table. Light feels the restraints lifted
and readies to take Wily when, the mad doctor holds a gun to him.
WILY
I'm sorry, were you going to . . . play hero?
LIGHT
(Beat)
Albert. Your machines have been destroyed. This crusade of yours is
over. Stop it. Stop it NOW!
WILY
(SNAPS) Shut up!
(NORMAL TONE) It is far from over Thomas. Now get in there.
Wily nudges Light into a dark room. Wily follows and closes the door.
INT. WILY'S FORTRESS (SECOND LEVEL)
Megaman leaves the elevator shaft and finds that the floor is weak in
some areas. He equips the Super Arm; the blue robot proceeds to rip up
the floors and punch through the solid rock and metal. First only
dents are made in the ground. The dents became small holes, and
Megaman could barely see the floor below. The pounding continued and
the floor came crashing down into the third level. Megaman drops
through the floor and looks around the room.
INT. THIRD LEVEL
Megaman sees the room where Wily and Light were just in moments ago.
He notices the command console and its surveillance system of the
entire fortress. Megaman types in some random command to see the
innards of the program when, CLANK, CLANK, CRUMP!
Megaman hears those sounds coming from the next room. The lights are
very dim in that room. Megaman enters and sees Light standing in the
middle, a single lamp shone on him amidst the darkness.
MEGAMAN
DOCTOR LIGHT!!
LIGHT
Megaman.
Megaman runs to Light and passes right through him. Megaman turns
around and passes his hand through a hologram of Light.
MEGAMAN
Damn it. WHERE IS LIGHT? WHERE IS HE YOU BASTARD?!
WILY
(Not seen, just heard in distance)
Megaman, the blue bomber. We only met personally that day, but you
left a lasting impression on me. Almost killed in a freak fire. And
here we are now. . . you've destroyed my Horsemen, my lab, and now you
are really pissing me off.
MEGAMAN
Where are you Wily?
WILY
Want to know where I am? What about your beloved creator? Heh, heh,
heh. No matter. If you want something done right, you must do it
yourself.
The lights in the room flash on. In front of Megaman is a towering bi-
pedal machine. It stands 20 feet high and it looks like a huge robot
person. Megaman looks to the upper body and sees Wily's face. Wily is
piloting the war suit.
WILY
Ready?
MEGAMAN
You'll pay for your crimes.
The shoulders and thighs of the war suit open up to reveal rockets and
missiles. They fire off one row at a time. Megaman runs out of the
way of the firepower. The artillery explode on contact with anything
it hits, knocking Megaman around like a leaf in the wind. Wily
advances forward and tries to stomp Megaman into the ground, but hits
only that—the ground. Megaman barely misses being squashed and gets
kicked across the room to a wall many feet away! Megaman gets up and
is sprayed with bullets from the arms of the war suit. The bullets
tear into the armor, shredding the blue exterior and revealing the
metallic under-layer.
Megaman rises up from the ground and fires some shots to Wily. They
only do burn marks, no serious damage. Megaman runs to the nearest
cover pillar that still stands. He hides and observes the suit from a
distance.
MEGAMAN
That suit is too powerful. I got to get in close.
WILY (on loudspeaker)
Where are you? Come out wherever you are AND GET KILLED!!
Wily checks his radar and notices a blip behind him. He turns and
fires a missile in that direction. The missile passes Megaman and hits
the wall. Megaman runs into the smoke and fire caused by the
explosion. In the fog, Megaman sees some broken power lines. He
shoots one off and grabs the wire. Wily still searches via radar for
his enemy. He notices a blip approaching from behind. Before he can
turn the suit around, he receives a literal shock. The suit is
electrified and Wily frantically goes to get the system back online.
Megaman sees the suit halt movement.
MEGAMAN
Did that do it?
The war suit moves again.
WILY
Shit! All the technology can't stand up to some piss-ant shock! Just
have to find him the old fashioned way!
Wily's suit opens up a little bit to reveal the cockpit. He presses a
button and a room opens up. Light is sitting in the room, surrounded
by explosives and combustible energy cells. Megaman can't believe what
he is seeing.
WILY
(Psychotically, high tone)
Oh, look at this! Doctor Light and he surrounded by high explosives!!
One wrong step and BOOM! No more doctor!
MEGAMAN
Oh no!! Doctor Light!
LIGHT
WATCH OUT!!
Wily comes in and grabs Megaman. He has him by the leg; Wily swings
him around like a rag doll. Megaman is smashed into the floor, the
walls, and even the ceiling. From the ceiling, he is allowed to
plummet back to the ground. Megaman is busted, looks like he went
through a shredder. Wily looks at Megaman and then looks at Light.
WILY
Time to end this charade once and for all. I—
Wily is interrupted by a whistle tune. He receives another shock, this
time the wire is jammed directly into the suit, shocking it to make it
erupt sparks. Light and Megaman are in awe to see Protoman on the
scene. Wily sees the red robot and shows nothing but scorn and
contempt.
WILY
The prototype. So you're still around.
PROTOMAN
That's right. You're finished Wily!
WILY
NEVER!
Wily shoots Protoman with rockets in a random, non-targeting manner.
Protoman evades many of them that actually come toward him. Wily
shoots another rocket, which goes awry and flies near Light's area.
Protoman notices and can't take down the rocket from where he is.
Megaman sees it coming, suddenly time apparently freezes.
BOOM!!!
The rocket exploded. Light remains safe. Protoman is okay as well.
Megaman is close to death. The rocket shattered away most of the armor
shielding the internal systems. Protoman moves quickly and collects
Megaman. They go off into a hidden area behind some wreckage.
PROTOMAN
You put yourself in danger's way for Light's life. Why?
MEGAMAN
It… Was… the right thing… to do.
PROTOMAN
Don't die yet. You just need energy. I happen to have a spare.
Protoman opens a storage door in his leg and pulls out an energy can.
He makes Megaman drink it. The blue robot steadily regains some
strength.
PROTOMAN
How do you feel?
MEGAMAN
A little better. We need to put that suit down for good. I have an
idea.
Out in the open, Wily looks around for signs of movement. Protoman
comes into his view. Protoman shoots some shots at the cockpit itself;
Wily guards his face from the sparks and smoke.
WILY
Argghhh! I'll kill you, you damn insect.
Wily unloads the automatic fire onto Protoman. Megaman, meanwhile,
runs to the suit from behind and leaps onto it! Wily feels the extra
weight and moves around uncontrollably. Megaman hangs onto the metal
shell for dear life. He equips the Super Arm and rips a hole into the
suit. Megaman still hangs on as Wily struggles to deal with the weight
issue. Megaman switches back to the plasma cannon and shoots into the
hole. The suit bursts out sparks and Wily eventually bails out.
Megaman leaps off of the suit, it then EXPLODES leaving absolutely
NOTHING LEFT.
Wily collects himself and scurries away when Megaman grabs him by his
neck collar. He binds his hands and feet with pieces of metal.
MEGAMAN
Watch him for a minute.
PROTOMAN
Sure.
Megaman goes to Light and walks him out of the room.
LIGHT
You came for me. I-I… Thank you. Son.
MEGAMAN
Let's drop him off and then we can go home.
LIGHT
Sounds good.
Megaman and Light turn to see only Wily left, Protoman disappeared.
MEGAMAN
He's gone again.
LIGHT
That he is. I have the feeling we haven't seen the last of Protoman.
EXT. PRISON ENTRANCE – DAY
Megaman drops off Wily to the prison authorities. They gladly take the
mad scientist for incarceration until his trial. The press captures
the event of Wily's apprehension by Megaman. The news media run
headlines such as: REIGN OF TERROR OVER!
WILY CAPTURED!
MEGAMAN SAVES THE WORLD!
INT. COURTROOM – DAY
Days later after his capture, Wily is in court for his crimes. The
JUDGE presents the final sentencing.
JUDGE
Doctor Albert Wilford Wily, you have been found guilty for crimes of
masterminding terrorist actions and extortion. Though after a careful
evaluation by an appointed psychiatrist, you acted under the notion of
insanity during that time, so therefore I sentence you solitary life
imprisonment.
The sentencing pleased many people in the courtroom, including Megaman
who was standing against the wall, sans helmet. Megaman exited the
courtroom and walked down the street.
INT. ROBOTCORP OFFICE – DAY
Dr. Light enters the office and goes on up to Cain's room. He walks in
and Cain is talking on a headset phone. Light places a piece of paper
on his desk. Cain reads it and then goes back to his phone call.
CAIN
I'll have to call you back.
You're quitting?!
LIGHT
I think the word is resignation, but yes.
CAIN
What about the grant research for the advanced A.I. and the Copy
system?
LIGHT
Take it back and do as you will. I officially no longer work under
your employ Mr. Cain. Good day, sir.
[Light leaves the room]
CAIN
Shit.
[Makes a phone call]
Yes, Mr. Secretary… about that copy system…
Light is seen exiting the RobotCorp Building. He takes a deep breath
and walks off into the crowds of people, within the metropolis—which is
decorated in construction/repair work.
INT. PRISON CELL – DAY
Wily is escorted to his permanent cell for the rest of life. He does
not resist or act abnormally. Wily is eerily calm and content. The
guards push him into a small cell consisting of a small bed, a sink, a
toilet, and a mirror. The innermost door, the bar door closed and
locked; the outside door, the thicker heavier door closed next. Wily's
eyes can still be seen through the little view slot, which is shut by
the correctional officer.
EXT. SUBURBAN COUNTRYSIDE – DAY
Megaman walked and walked until he finally saw the compound in clear
view. His face lit up in great smile as he ran as fast as he could
down the hill to his home. Days passed and Megaman has shed the blue
armor and resumed the form of a normal boy. The days of peace he lived
with Dr. Light and Roll were suddenly back again, this time with Rush
as a part of the family.
Megaman would always look out into the sky and at times think he was
seeing a cloud formation of Protoman. He grins at the formation,
turns, and leaves.
