INT LOUNGE/KITCHEN IN OLD HOUSE DUSK 1. Boarded up windows seep dimming light onto the floorboards. Next to the windows are makeshift weapons, a fire axe, a pitchfork, a cricket bat. A hammer sits next to a box containing half a dozen nails on a large table. 7 people stand around the table, all considering the implications of the box of nails. There are hints of brutal violence around, a dismembered rotting finger lies next to one of the windows, blood on the floor next to it is coagulated. More blood is smeared in different patches on the floorboards and in some places near the windows, though most of it is dark, almost brown in colour. There are various different pieces of wood leaning against the wall, some are old chair legs. 00020000065A00000556654,It is obvious one of the people around the table have said something important as the rest begin to murmur between themselves, thinking of a response. Their attention diverts quickly back to Braedon. BRAEDON I don't think you guys realize the danger of going back to the shopping centre. They're starting to recognize our patterns, more are following us home, it's only a matter of time till we can't get out the doors, and a short time after that they'll bust enough of those fucken boards off and we'll be...well as good as that shit you're eating Zack. ZACK stops eating out of his can of baked beans and puts the fork back in it. He has sauce all around his mouth and when the rest of the group continues to stare at him he replies with a mouth full. KAYSEY starts to sob and looks over at the figure. KAYSEY Oh Dad! KAYSEY runs over to her father in the hammock. BRAEDON stands up to stop her. BRAEDON Kaysey no! SHARON stands up and gently puts a hand on BRAEDON'S chest. SHARON (in Braedon's ear) It's okay, I've given him enough tranquilizers, even if he did turn his body will find it impossible to move. BRAEDON nods solemnly. SHARON also begins to weep, though very quietly. SHARON Besides, she has to say goodbye. Loud footsteps are heard down the hall then BEN bursts into the room holding a rusty machete. BEN I need a couple of nails and a piece of wood over a foot long, quickly! BEN runs back down the hall. ZACK grabs a couple of nails, the hammer and a plank of wood from against the wall and runs after him. ALICE follows, grabbing the cricket bat on her way. BECK We can't stay here. It feels wrong. You were just whingeing about not having booze and good food when we don't even have good water or enough medical supplies and now you're saying we've got everything here? Braedon starts eating the rest of Zack's baked beans, playing with it first to show his disinterest. A minute later Kaysey's sad wail is heard. Beck looks down at Stan in annoyance. BECK Look at what they have to deal with. And you think everything's hunky dory. Beck goes down the hallway where Ben, Alice and Zack are fighting off zombies. There is a moment of uncomfortable silence and Braedon reluctantly finishes the baked beans. He is putting down the tin when Alice, Zack, and Beck run back in. ZACK They've broken too many fuckin planks. Any more and we're just gonna have to fight coz there's not much else to do. ALICE We need more nails BRAEDON (to Beck) Looks like you might get you're wish a little earlier than expected. ZACK What wish? BRAEDON We have to leave tonight. ALICE Finally. 2. INT HALLWAY DUSK 2. The end of the hall has been boarded up with makeshift planks made of everyday objects. A cut in half bookshelf, turned on it's side is up against the end of the hall. Encyclopedias are in it so to be used as a barricade and bench. BEN is leaning his knee on the bookshelf and pushing a board against a hole in the barricade. The board moves inward, pushed by an unseen force. Ben takes a lighter out of his pocket, still applying pressure to the board. When it is pushed in again, Ben lets go of the board and jumps back. A human arm thrusts inside, spastically trying to grab onto anything it can. Deep scratches that have failed to heal go all the way up the arm to the elbow, where it is met by the barricade. Ben lights his lighter and burns the arm, keeping his distance so as not to get grabbed. The arm hastily retreats accompanied by a moan and a scream from two different creatures outside. 000200000918000020F0912,BEN Heh. Think you can mess with me motherfucker? I watched all three of the Evil Dead movies like twenty times each. Ash was practically my mentor! Ben takes a couple of cocky steps towards the barricade and the hand shoots out again. Ben ducks, grabbing his machete off the floor and cuts off the arm with one swift movement. He feels his wrist. BEN (imitating Ash) Groovy. Another scream is heard from outside as Ben looks at the arm, wrinkling his nose in disgust. He gets up and kicks it. BEN That is some foul smelling shit Distracted by the smell and the arm, Ben doesn't notice the other scratched arm coming slowly through the opening. Ben lifts his arm to cover his nose just before the hand reaches it. The hand swipes, but misses and lowers quietly. Ben lifts his machete to look at the blood on it and drops his hand back to his side. The zombie arm quickly grabs it and pulls Ben hard so his body crashes against the barricade and half his arm is outside the hole. Gnawing sounds, then Ben is screaming. He tries to pull it out a couple of times and when that doesn't work he grabs his machete properly with his other hand and looks at his arm trapped outside. Approaching running footsteps and his own name can be heard but it seems far away. Ben sobs, then screams in pain again before hastily chopping off his own arm just above the elbow. His bleeding torso slumps to the floor away from the barricade and he groans as he is reached by ALICE and BRAEDON. ALICE Oh my god he cut it off! Alice runs and sits, propping Ben's head on her knee. His eyelids flutter, though are shut. She brushes the hair off his forehead and checks his pulse. Braedon tears the arm off his shirt and makes a tourniquet for Ben’s arm. BRAEDON He did what he had to. ALICE Ben? Ben you with us? Braedon shoots an intense look at Alice. ALICE He's unconscious. Braedon exhales, noticeably relieved. They begin to drag his body down the hallway, avoiding the thrashing arm coming out of the hole, now spattered with fresh blood. 3. EXT BEHIND GARAGE DUSK 3. STAN and ZACK stand off to one side, having a cigarette and a quiet chat while BRAEDON stands lookout. SHARON, KAYSEY, BECK and ALICE sit a few meters away alongside all their bags and weaponry. SHARON I know you smoke, baby. I could smell it all over you when you got home from school. Plus there's bit's of ash all over your dresser and in your carpet. Kaysey takes a cigarette and her mother lights it. Sharon offers the deck around and they both accept. BECK Thanks. ALICE Hey why not, we're all gonna die one day. KAYSEY Hey if it's true what they tell us at school that every deck of ciggies reduces your life by a day, then maybe we should give these to Stan. KAYSEY What? It's not like I stole them or anything they were in the ashtray! Braedon slaps his head as Sharon gives Kaysey an unimpressed look. KAYSEY Aha! STEVE is driving, SHARON is in the front passenger seat and KAYSEY is in the middle back seat with her headphones on. A bright orange light from behind them accompanies a vibration felt but not heard by Kaysey due to her listening to her walkman. Sharon points at the falling orange dust dwindling from the sky like rare snowflakes and melting on the road and countryside outside the car. As the car gets closer they realise it is a man who was walking his dog until they were both hit by the orange dust. The man's skin looks as if it's peeling and changing colour, parts of it are even melting. He rolls around on the ground slowly and holds his head. His canine companion lays next to him, fur bubbling and is breathing very rapidly. Both of their eyes are clouded over orange. SHARON Oh my god, pull over Steve, pull over! STEVE Are you kidding? I'm not getting out into that stuff and risking our family. We'll go for help. Steve accelerates when he realises his daughter is staring, mesmerized. STEVE Look the stuff's starting to thin out, we should wait to see if it stops before we get out of the car. SHARON Okay but don't get too far away from the man and his dog, we need to get help for them and it'll be easier to describe if we're closer. STEVE Okay okay. What about this house down a bit further on the right? Looks like it's got powerlines so they should have a phone too. But wait in the car remember? SHARON Yes dear STEVE Promise? SHARON Alright! They pull up outside the OLD HOUSE and watch the dust thin out, then stop. Sharon attempts to get a radio station but there is only static. Kaysey watches outside as a goat ventures out from a shed and into a paddock where another goat lies at the other side, under a light shelter shed. The goat under the shelter shed gets up wonkily, walks over to the other goat, and gores it with it's horns. EXT BEHIND GARAGE NIGHT 5. ZACK and STAN are walking off carrying the majority of luggage. KAYSEY is staring blankly and SHARON nudges her. Sharon and Kaysey get up using each other for support and then Kaysey helps ALICE up, who holds her hip and winces. ALICE You okay love? KAYSEY I should be asking you that question. ALICE Yeah, it's just my hip plays up sometimes. And running away from all those things at the house makes now one of those times. KAYSEY Better not show it in front of Stan. This zombie wears a lab coat, and, though infected, remains relatively agile compared to the other things, descending the stairs with dangerous haste. There should still be this big old tree shrub thing at the edge of the oval. It's dark and great for hiding. The second zombie stumbles and trips, falling face first down the stairs. It groans, and starts moving slowly in an attempt to get up. Another zombie also attempts to exit the tafe building. The Zombie Professor turns to look at the fallen zombie, an ex-student, when the brothers seize their chance. Zack takes a run up at the Zombie Professor while Braedon runs to decapitate the fallen zombie before it gets up. Zack overswings with the axe, clubbing the Zombie Professor in the side with the handle. The Zombie Professor moans in pain and Zack withdraws the axe. They both look down to see that the axe hasn't cut him and the Zombie Professor pounces. Zack holds up his axe blade and the Zombie Professor lunges on it, then withdraws in pain long enough for Braedon to come up from behind and amputate a leg with the machete. The Zombie Professor has not even hit the ground before Zack has started swinging his axe, finishing the creature. Zack and Braedon check themselves over briefly. Zack stares in horror as he sees silhouettes of zombies that were following them earlier. They’ve caught up and are coming slowly around a corner. 2 more are also trying to get out of the portable the others came from. ZACK Thanks bro, but I think we gotta go. Alice, features now drawn and pale, lays face down on the grass in the shadows made by the shrub just as the zombies begin to come around the corner. She is whispering prayer and quietly weeping. Because of how they are laying, Stan is the only one under the shrub able to see what's happening. STAN (whispering) Just stay completely still, pretend to be dead. Alice makes no recognition she has heard Stan, and goes on praying, as she was already lying still. As the zombies get closer their sounds seem to surround the group. The zombies stumble down the hill and begin to walk over Alice, not even seeing she is there. Alice cries, terrified, and continues to pray as the masses of diseased walk all over her. She holds her silence until one of them steps on her sore hip and it snaps. Alice screams in pain briefly, but it is still too long. The zombies envelope her, tearing pieces away like she is a roast. Stan closes his eyes, unable to watch. STAN (whispering to self) This isn't happening, this isn't happening… BECK (sobbiNg to self) No. Please no… Sharon rocks a distraught Kaysey in her arms, tightly covering her head to protect her ears although it doesn't change the fact she knows what's happening. Sharon looks like she may be on the brink of madness, but trying to be strong for her daughter. 20. INT UNDER TAFE BUILDING SUNRISE 20. Light filters through the cracks as the sun begins to rise. Zack is weeping, after hearing the screams and seeing the zombies on a feeding frenzy. They could not see clearly as the end of night concealed most of the horror, but have a fair idea of what happened because of screaming. Braedon is holding Zack's hand in comfort, obviously upset to. BRAEDON It's not your fault. It's not your fault Zack. Zack just nods silently agreeing, though his crying and body language indicate he believes it is his fault. Sharon gets out her weapon and helps Kaysey unclip hers from her bag. The rest of the group do the same with their farm tools turned bloodletters. Sharon then looks from Kaysey to Zack, who puts a hand on Kayseys shoulder to signal to Sharon he will protect her. 25. INT ZOMBIE-FREE COMPLEX DAY 25. An unknown person looks through binoculars studying the undead threat that stumble around outside. Some zombies are quicker and more agile, looking as if they are putting some thought into movements. Some, on the other hand, are so deteriorated they are stumbling directionless, moving their mouths without thought or meaning, some even drop to the ground, seemingly dead. Then, a faster moving thing comes into view. It is the approaching Stan who is running, paranoid, to the complex. As he approaches he sees there are many zombies around the front and left side, so goes around to the right side where some dead zombies already lie and attempts to climb the fence. One of the thought 'dead zombies' grabs him by the foot as he climbs and he panics as the zombie tries weakly to bite him. He kicks it off him, falls back to the ground and chops the almost helpless creature into pieces in a frightened fury. He then scurries over the fence and looks around as if to check if he's been seen. Suspicious. The binoculars scan the area to see what Stan may be looking for or hiding from. 00020000087D0000E64F877,26. EXT OUTSIDE ZOMBIE-FREE COMPLEX DAY 26. BRAEDON, ZACK, SHARON, KAYSEY and BECK huddle in foliage very close to the complex to discuss their approach. Beck looks increasingly uneasy. Braedon seems to be in deep thought. BRAEDON Okay… SHARON Still feeling weird Beck? BECK You could say that. ZACK I s'pose this is the moment of truth then. KAYSEY So how we gonna do this then? BRAEDON I've been looking at the situation and I see it in two ways. Everyone's attention lies fully on Braedon, the undisclosed leader and thinker of the group. BRAEDON It looks as if there aren't as many things around to the right, which suits us in both cases coz we're already to the right. We could either go around that way and try to jump the fence before any of them notice… ZACK It sorta looks like people have already tried that or something. Look at all the bodies around that side. BRAEDON That could support my theory that the people inside may try and shoot us if we try to break in, thinking we're infected. SHARON Well what else can we do? Braedon sighs, aware of the many possible responses to what he is about to say. BRAEDON We can go straight up the middle and practically knock on their front door. SHARON I…don't…think…so KAYSEY But what about all the things there?! Zack is even shaking his head in doubt. BRAEDON If we all go back to back and look out for each other I reckon we could take most of 'em out. Hopefully they'll see us and let us straight in anyway. It's better than being shot before we get a chance. Silence then, as the group consider this ultimatum. BECK I'd rather die fighting than running. KAYSEY And I'd rather die from a bullet than being eaten alive! BRAEDON (looking at Kaysey) And what would that help anyone? (looks back at Sharon) KAYSEY C'mon Mum, have a go. Sharon looks at Beck, then remembers the premonition she had earlier. Beck is deep in thought as Sharon makes up her mind while looking at her. She nods in solemn agreement. 0002000008520000EEC684C,27. INT ZOMBIE-FREE COMPLEX DAY 27. The binoculars continue to scan the horizon. Someone taps on the shoulder of the binocular-wearing person. SHAYLA (O.S) (Interchangable) Over there! The binoculars quickly move and suddenly focus on BRAEDON, ZACK, BECK, KAYSEY and SHARON, all armed and running furiously towards the front entrance to the ZOMBIE-FREE COMPLEX. The binoculars scan the threat to determine the group's chances at survival. Not too many zombies have noticed yet as most are still up against the fence, looking for the last meal that got away. Back to the group, Braedon stops to shake a weapon off a corpse firmly gripping it. He is talking to his group, although inaudible. The group cover him as he puts his weapon away and picks up the SCYTHE. The group move in a ^ shape as the majority of their undead threat lie ahead of them, though now some zombies have caught on to the ambush and are limping awkwardly trying to get at their prey before the rest of the herd notice. As they get to the fence, the group stop except Braedon, who runs a couple of steps ahead before planting his feet solidly in the earth. As he winds up to swing, ONE in front of him, gripping the fence, turns around and gets to take a step before the blade swings. The blade slices through a few legs before getting stuck in one of the zombies. ONE has only had a leg cut and is trying to propel himself along the ground towards Braedon with it, while Braedon tries to retrieve the blade. The body of the blade-stuck zombie lifts and shakes with these attempts. ONE gets close and lunges at Braedon who lets go of the scythe, jumps back and quickly unsheathes his previous weapon. 28. EXT OUTSIDE ZOMBIE-FREE COMPLEX DAY 28. In the action, the group have spread slightly apart and wage separate minor battles. BRAEDON realizes his jump back from ONE almost put him in the mouths of the other leg-amputee zombies trying to crawl and scrape for a bite. He hastily defeats them by decapitation. More groans from the zombies signal a feeding frenzy as more seem to have noticed and head over in there direction. 0002000007BF0000F7127B9,BECK pulls her weapon from her latest victim as SHARON deals the fatal blow to another before calling out over her shoulder. SHARON Kaysey you okay honey? Some zombies groan as if in reply. KAYSEY raises her blade and cuts a zombie down the middle. KAYSEY Yep! Her blade is stuck. Kaysey looks scared for a moment, then sees a pitchfork and quickly sticks it into an oncoming zombie. It pauses momentarily in shock, then keeps trying to attack her. She lets out a small scream when she sees a quicker zombie headed for her. ZACK It's okay! ZACK takes out the quick zombie, then goes back to Kaysey who is still holding the zombie at fork's length. ZACK Alright, let me 'ave it. Kaysey pushes the zombie torso with her feet off the pitchfork and it falls hard, to the ground. Zack mutilates it in unique brutal fashion. ZACK (impatient) What's the story Brae? What are we doing? Braedon finishes off ONE before retrieving his SCYTHE from the corpse. He climbs over the fence and bashes on the door, trying to yell through it. The others follow, and are also followed by a few, more agile zombies. BRAEDON If anyone's in there… please! You have to let us in! We've got a kid out here fighting for her life! KAYSEY Hey! ZACK Go with it. BRAEDON We got a mother and daughter out here, my brother and another girl not twenty-one yet! SHARON We mean no harm! BECK Just want shelter! KAYSEY Please let us in!! The door won't budge. Another round of zombies are closing in. The zombies surround them and block any exit. SHARON (to Beck) I hope you meant what you said coz you may get your wish. Beck lashes out and violently ends a hobbling moaning duet of zombies. BECK I didn't wish for this! She violently starts lunging at zombies with her weapon. KAYSEY Let us in!!!Please!!! Kaysey's voice is beginning to break in upset and outrage. She drops her weapons and runs to bash on the 'front door'. KAYSEY You fucks!! You evil fuckheads!! Cowards!!! ZACK Kaysey, pick up your weapon! 0002000007400000FECB73A,Zack backs up so as to hopefully cover her from danger. SHARON Kaysey please!! Braedon has moved out next to Sharon and Zack. Braedon is fighting when Kaysey tugs at Zack's shirt. KAYSEY Hey, give me a boost. ZACK Huh? Kaysey points at a pane of glass above the entrance. Zack looks, then holsters his weapon to give Kaysey a boost. She reaches up for the roof and grabs it, hanging while Zack goes to fight an approaching zombie. ZACK Sorry Kase, just hang on! He fights two before Kaysey realizes he's gonna be busy for a while. An idea flashes into her head and she begins to swing backward and forward. On one of the backswings she kicks Zack in the head, then swings full force so her legs kick through the high pane of glass and it shatters on the floor inside. Kaysey's legs dangle inside for a moment before many hands reach up and pull her inside, one hand with a shard of glass impaling it. Kaysey screams as she is pulled inside. Sharon and Zack, who has turned around briefly (after being kicked), grab at Kaysey's arms but they are bent back the wrong way and they can't grasp them before they are out of reach. SHARON Noooo!!!! Give my baby back!!! Braedon runs to cover Sharon as she uncontrollably screams and sobs at the entrance. Zack glances back, worried but quite occupied. Beck finishes off a zombie and moves closer to Braedon. BECK I think I wanna try going over the side. BRAEDON No way! We're sticking together! That was the plan. You agreed! BECK But this isn't getting us anywhere! At that moment, a head pops into the wooden frame cleared by Kaysey's feet. Then a gun raises next to the face and shoots a zombie approaching Braedon as he is facing the doorway and not watching out for zombies. Zack, then Braedon, quickly duck inside, both dropping their weapons on entry. 29. INT ZOMBIE-FREE COMPLEX DAY 29. The binoculars scan the litter of corpses and frenzied zombies that remain outside. They are making a lot of noise and are frantic to get in through the same front entrance after the others. 30. INT HOLDING ROOM Z-F COMPLEX DAY 30. The room is relatively bare, containing only a single wooden chair and a chain with handcuffs disturbingly attached to one wall. There is a large blood splatter painting part of a wall and the floor. KAYSEY sits on the chair with her head down, hair covering her face, rocking back and forth with worry. An unknown, silent man with a weapon, stands in the corner, guarding her. Suddenly the door is opened and SHARON, BECK, ZACK and BRAEDON enter, followed by CABLE and another, smaller man. Sharon runs over and hugs Kaysey as soon as she enters. SHARON Thank god! Thank god you're okay! My baby! KAYSEY I love you Mum. I was so scared! What's going on? SHARON I dunno sweetie… Braedon and Zack assess the situation while Zack comforts Kaysey, occasionally making eye contact with his brother. Both the man in the corner and Cable have large builds and stand straight faced and difficult to read. The man next to Cable, however, looks slightly nervous and eager, occasionally looking up at Cable for approval. Suddenly BRAEDON comes rushing in looking slightly flustered, followed by ZACK who comes in to gather weapons by the front door. SHARON What's going on? BRAEDON It's alright we've just got to do some minor repairs on the fence outside. Should only take a sec. SHARON Is there anything I can do? SIMON You look kinda, I don't know, rattled. BRAEDON It's fine, just let the others know when you see them so they don't worry. SHARON I'm worried. BRAEDON Well just warn them so they keep out of the way then. KAYSEY'S footsteps from Corey's room can be heard before she bursts into the room looking frantic. KAYSEY Mum! Corey's unconscious! I think he's O.Ding! Come quick! They start towards Corey's room. INT CELLAR Z-F COMPLEX DAY 53. The dim light of the cellar flicks on and CABLE, bag in hand, descends the stairs. STAN appears tired and still restrained. He looks up angrily at Cable. CABLE Oh don't give me those pretty eyes. Cable approaches the bench and throws his bag on it. He starts throwing tools in it that are hung up out of Stan's reach, although one spot is empty. Cable bends down to reach a roll of barbed wire from under the workbench. Stan slowly moves his unrestrained arms from behind his back to above his head. He is holding a large metal G clamp as a two handed knuckle duster and swiftly brings it down. Cable moves slightly at the last second and is dealt a hard blow to the shoulder which starts to colour immediately. He hits the floor. Stan looks mixed with rage and fear. STAN Fucking faggot!!! Cable's pained expression twitches, turning into a deep rage. Stan breathes quickly, looking at the exit and thinking of his next move. Thinking Cable is unconscious, Stan drops the clamp, picks up Cable's small machete and starts ascending the stairs. Cable suddenly grabs his leg and rips him backwards, causing Stan to smash his head on the stairs and drop the machete. Cable growls with rage. CABLE You little runt. You know the only thing worse then being called a faggot? Stan raises his head, confused eyes stare at him, then spot the machete. He reaches for it and Cable steps on the blade, bending down slightly and grabbing Stan's shirt. Stan is now riddled with fear. Suddenly GAZZA is at the top of the stairs looking down on both of them with a mixture of shock, sorrow and rage. Stan looks up in fear and realization. STAN It was an accident! Gazza slowly descends, then, seeing Cable's head and Stan's hammer, growls and lunges on Stan. Stan tries to hit him with the hammer but is forced up against a wall by Gazza. Gazza headbutts him and he drops the hammer completely, his head also hitting the back wall. Gazza backs off and Stan drops to the ground, leaning against the wall. GAZZA What happened? STAN I… he attacked me! GAZZA Liar! STAN No! It's the truth! Please! I'll tell you! Stan makes surrender gestures with his hands as he uses the wall to stand up and lean against. STAN He came down and got all these things to torture me with! Look in the bag! GAZZA You fucking… Gazza furiously kicks Stan's knee backwards, snapping it. Stan screams. A couple of diseased climb clumsily over the fence headed straight for the Clean Man. 55. INT BATHROOM COMPLEX DAY 55. SHAYLA and BECK are kissing softly in the bath, Shayla laying in Beck's arms. A flashback of her dream (S40p94) then Beck suddenly sits up in the bath. SHAYLA Are you alright? What's the matter? BECK A bit of a panic attack. I think something's wrong though. Really wrong. INT MAIN ROOM COMPLEX DAY 56. As the diseased approach, the CLEAN MAN screams and starts hitting the glass with a large stick hard enough to make it crack. ZACK runs back into the room, gripping his hair with one hand. CLEAN MAN I'm clean! I'm clean! Let me in! ZACK goes to get a weapon from beside the front door. He returns to the window only a couple of seconds before one of the diseased reaches the Clean Man and starts to attack him. He pushes it off and beats it with the stick before pleading through the glass. SIMON and SHARON kneel beside barely conscious COREY, BRAEDON and KAYSEY watch, standing behind them. Corey is now positioned on his side, slightly drooling/foaming at the mouth. His eyes open once and are heavily glazed, then shut after he speaks. SHARON If you don't show us or tell us what you took then we don't know how to help you! COREY Juss fuh off. Corey weakly reaches an arm out to push but loses consciousness and it falls back on the bed. SHARON Are you sure you didn't see where he kept them or what they were? KAYSEY Like I said he only told me he had one thing of em left and that was it! Braedon glances at the empty packet retrieved from Corey's pocket in his hand and shrugs. BRAEDON I really don't think these could've messed him up that badly, even if he took the whole packet. SHARON That's why I think he had more! SIMON And if Kaysey just saw him recently and he wasn't that bad that means he's probably just had them and they could still be digesting. BRAEDON Shit KAYSEY So? What does that mean. INT HALLWAY COMPLEX DAY 58. As BECK and SHAYLA exit the bathroom to the hallway in towels, BRAEDON and ZACK run past. ZACK almost knocks the girls over and stops, red-faced to explain, speaking extremely quickly. Braedon runs on to the main room. SHAYLA Whoa! BECK Are you alr… ZACK No time! Just get dressed and go to Corey's room, they'll explain! Zack turns and runs, following his brother. Beck and Shayla exchange scared looks and run off to get dressed. 59. INT CELLAR COMPLEX DAY 59. GAZZA has been crying. He kneels beside CABLE'S body which has been laid flat with a tarp pulled up to his neck. He struggles with his emotions, then shuts Cable's eyes and pulls the tarp over his face. Gazza's face becomes steely as he picks up a WEAPON and slowly walks over to Stan who still lays unconscious, though he moans painfully. JESS appears at the top of the stairs. Surmising what has happened and Gazza's intentions, she goes to stop it, then reconsiders and stands back watching. Gazza breathes slowly, considering what he's going to do. His breathing becomes rapid as he is consumed with anger and just before he strikes Stan, a shattering of glass is heard upstairs. Gazza turns to see Jess at the top of the stairs and after they make eye contact, Jess runs off. Gazza drops weapon and chases, running up the stairs. BRAEDON (O.S) They're in! Gazzas eyes widen. 60. INT (GAZZA P.O.V) MAIN ROOM COMPLEX DAY 60. As GAZZA runs from the stairs to the main room and his eyes adjust to the light, several strange silhouettes seem to fill the room. His eyes adjust to see that the main window has been smashed and BRAEDON and ZACK are fighting off a zombie that's climbed through. Several more are outside trying to get in, one making a pretty good attempt. Zack runs up to it and decapitates it. GAZZA Oh fuck 0002000007A70001D8697A1,BRAEDON THEY'RE IN!!! THEY'RE IN!!! Zack is grabbed by an arm but he drops his weapon and Chinese burns it so it lets go. He then turns to see Gazza, starts to run towards him and slips in blood, falling to coat his side in it. ZACK Gazza where's Cable? Help Braedon, I gotta tell the others! Zack runs, slipping down the hallway, half dripping with blood. Another two diseased start to climb through the window. Gazza looks around in fear for a moment, then memory kicks in and he runs to where the weapons are next to the door and selects one. 61. INT COREY'S ROOM DAY 61. ZACK once again bursts into Corey's room. SIMON, KAYSEY and SHARON look at him in horror. COREY is very pale. Sharon has been crying. KAYSEY Are you alright? SHARON What was that smash? SIMON What happened? ZACK They're in! They broke in the main window. KAYSEY Give me a fucking weapon. SHARON We found the rest of his pill stash, it doesn't look good. ZACK It doesn't look good for us either. Sharon's eyes widen with realization and she gets up immediately. KAYSEY Let's go. SHARON What about him, we can't leave him here! The girls scream as one of the diseased tries to climb in. Beck runs to the door and opens it, gesturing to Shayla. BECK C'mon! Go! Go! SHAYLA They're in! They're in! Shayla bolts out of the room followed quickly by Beck who shuts it behind her. A thud is heard as the diseased man falls into the bedroom. BECK (O.S) We need to barricade this door! 63. INT HALLWAY COMPLEX DAY 63. Yelling and screams can be heard from the main room. BECK holds the door shut as SHAYLA slides over a chair to try and lock the door. They put it in place and slowly take their hands away. It holds. They run to the main room where BRAEDON, ZACK, GAZZ, SHARON and KAYSEY stand in a group trying to defend the diseased threat as it increases. One DECAYED zombie sees Beck and Shayla and excitedly starts heading over there. Others also see them and attempt to follow. BECK We need weapons. SHAYLA Shit. Where's Midget? They run into each room but nothing will suffice as a strong enough weapon. Midget's bed is empty. Corey's door is locked. So is the toilet. The girls return to the hallway. SHAYLA What are we gonna do? I can't find Midget! The DECAYED diseased reaches the end of the hallway. As it sees them it growls. The girls see and gasp but before they have time to even think, the chair slides out and the Bedroom door opens, the three diseased that were leaning up against it falling on top of each other. Shayla opens the cellar door and Beck follows, Shayla locking it behind them. 64. INT MAIN ROOM COMPLEX DAY 64. BRAEDON, ZACK and GAZZA furiously battle many diseased trying to get in, a couple succeeding. KAYSEY and SHARON gang up on one diseased, Kaysey dealing it the last blow. KAYSEY Where's Beck and Shayla! They're gone! I think they were chased! Kaysey starts defending herself again. Sharon fights another. Braedon looks around. BRAEDON I think some got past us! The house is infested! GAZZA We're just lucky they're deteriorating now ZACK Not enough! We gotta go somewhere! Sharon has her weapon knocked out of her hand and screams. Gazza, seeing this, runs to her rescue, killing the closest diseased, giving her time to pick her weapon back up. While his back is turned, a quicker diseased leaps on him, deeply scratching his neck. Gazza yells and breaks it's arm, grabbing his neck in horror and pain. GAZZA I'm fucked! Gazza fights furiously with expressions of shock anger and fear. SHARON Nooo! BRAEDON Not necessarily you aint got blood in… Gazza slashes a diseased and coats his face and neck in blood. Zack looks over and almost gets bitten but realizes and fights back. BRAEDON Oh fuck. GAZZA Kill em all!!!! KAYSEY Yeah !!!! ZACK We gotta get out of here they just keep coming!!! She goes to speak, but remembers the way Gazza looked at her and the tone in his voice and thinks better of it. They wait momentarily for an answer, GAZZA clearly in his own world, though physically still fighting diseased. BRAEDON looks at him, then the toilet door, frustrated. BRAEDON Well?! Sharon is pulled upwards by the group momentarily before Gazza jumps off the chair still holding her ankle and ripping her down out of the attic entrance. INT CELLAR COMPLEX DAY 72. In the pitch black darkness, SHAYLA, fumbles for the light. She turns it on and BECK, halfway down the stairs already, sees the tarp concealing CABLE's lifeless body. Shayla sees it, and stifles her own scream. They look at each other in horror. Seeing the machete, Beck runs down the stairs and arms herself. INT ATTIC COMPLEX DAY 73. Boxes and items over the attic entrance move for a second as if pushed. The attic is dingy and dimly lit through cracks between rooftiles. ZACK, KAYSEY and BRAEDON all look scared, though Braedon is determined to be strong. BRAEDON Me three! But we have to keep going. ZACK What now? BRAEDON Light. Braedon uses his WEAPON to dislodge some roof tiles. They crash to the ground outside, copping one diseased in the head. A shaft of light beams in and Kaysey goes to stand in it. A familiar pattern of knocks from outside the door is coincidental. Simon recognizes it, giggles and knocks back, finishing the pattern. The door is thumped back hard and Simon takes frightened steps backward. He hears a smash from outside the window. He turns and sees something else drop past it quickly before smashing. The bashing at the door becomes less. Simon runs to the window and looks to see that the falling objects are roof tiles being pushed out. A look of relief spreads across his face. The diseased are still slowly decaying and dying but those intact run rampant. 77. INT ATTIC COMPLEX DAY 77. KAYSEY watches nervously as BRAEDON helps ZACK down from looking out the roof. ZACK We can't go out now. There's too many. They're pretty slow, but there's still too many and they're kinda wild. BRAEDON Could we wait until dark? Kaysey moans. INT COMPLEX DAY 85. A few zombies still wander the complex. More corpses litter the floor. JESS is a mess, drinking from the toilet to stay alive. She has hunger cramps. Desperation starts to kick in and she listens through the door. She hears nothing. From the other side of the door, GAZZA peeks through the keyhole, silently waiting. Jess looks very unhealthy. She drinks again, then slowly takes her feet away from the door. Gazza creeps up the hallway and waits. Jess looks through the keyhole and sees corpses, but no movement. She stands on the toilet seat and breaks the tiny window. Gazza hears this and charges straight through the door just as Jess has maneouvered half her body outside. She screams as Gazza attacks her, cutting her torso on broken glass. Her screams attract more zombies who try to drag her out from the outside, resulting in her being cut nastily in half. 86. Gazza sits, chewing on Jesses leg and fighting with another zombie for it. Bec turns, and wanders outside, passing Zombie Sharon, wandering around sadly aimlessly, until she sees zombie Steve. Steve walks straight to her and they seem almost happy, walking side by side, scavenging for meat. Bec slowly exits the complex, walking under a tree before something drops on her zombie head. It is midget, armed with a knife, who quickly cuts Becs head off. Head rolls backwards and lands on the ground. Sees grass. Feet. Midget checking it, then darkness. 88.
