This is a great idea. I know there are all these notions that no one can ever step into the role of James T. Kirk but I don't buy it. Someone can make this character their own. No one will replace Shatner, Nimoy et. al. But, at the same time, if the casting is sensitive to the validity of the character, people will simply accept it, except perhaps for a special few. The original characters had a wit and integrity and charm that deserves to live on. They shouldn't vanish from all film and TV sim ply to assuage a few diehards who may in fact like what they see after all.

It's a nice idea, but I'm not so sure that Trek fans (even "younger" fans of TNG) would accept other actors playing Kirk, Spock, or Bones.

It worked for Battlestar Galactica. Continuity is not important enough to smother the original idea behind it, and this is a way to get around that.

I love the idea of J Michael Straczynski ? or however his name is spelled ? writing it, but I strongly dislike the idea of not having continuity with the other shows.
